Order events by date in left panel ?
I have just installed the trial version of aperture 3. I have imported my iPhoto library of 155gb with many events from a round the world trip.
When I click on iPhotoLibrary and select browser I can see all my events in the main viewer panel and then select "Date-Oldest First" from the drop down at the top. However the library panel on the left has everything ordered by name. I right click on Events and select Keep arranged by, but it only offers "Type, Kind, Manual."
Is there a way to order the events in the left hand panel by date?

I may not be following along, but Projects view (which provides what the OP is looking for) has two built-in grouping options: +Group by Year,+ and +Group by Folder+ (controlled by icons right of the sort order spinner). I rarely find any use for +Group by Year,+ but I use +Group by Folder+ as my default. The ability to group by Folder and then drill down to any sub-Folder is foremost in my mind when I am designing the Project storage wing of a Library's Folder structure.

IMovie 10.0.2: how to order events by date?
In the previous versions of iMovie it was possibile to have the events browser ordered by year and month.
Now apparently only in alphabetical order, which to me is not useful.
Any tips?

Photos.
They are on my macBook, backed up on time machine. There are 19,000+ of them, some rescued from a pc crash- which I used the nifty iPhoto to put back into date order.
I want to take them all off my laptop, now............as I need to use it for WORK!!
Copied them (hours and hours) to another external hard drive.
They are now in alphabetical order (all 19,000+ of them) NOT IN THEIR EVENTS or date order. (-They have also been taken with different cameras over the years and some of the generic camera numbering remains.)
I have tried to copy them (only a few as an experiment) one event at a time, but that again "opens up" the Event "folder" and tips them out as individuals and therefore just lists image letters and numbers alphabetically.
How can I copy
the whole library still in "Events" to an external hard drive?
the folders/albums I have already made on to this hard drive?
and how can I add to this back up monthly, again keeping events and folders separate and updated?
Mac is so user friendly - there must be a way.........
ThanksUPDATE : I have re-installed from disk, various apps that were no longer functioning such as iLife, iWork etc. So, I now can access my photos again.
Also, I had to re-install all the software for my printer ( Stylus Pro 4880 ) and reset it so the printer is working again.
Photoshop CS4 won't open. I think I will have to get in touch with Adobe as basically, I guess they have a built-in "blocker" which prevents me from opening the app as the license is for only 1 user and having re-installed the OS, there are now, in effect, 2 users ( Me and Me 1, I think ).
So, having added on a new external HD, Time Machine has made a copy of most of the files, folders, apps etc onto the external HD. The internal HD is still nearly full ( 220 GBs out of 232 GBs ).
I am guessing the way to go now in order to free up space on the internal HD is to delete/trash older photos from my iPhoto library and hope that if needed, I will be able to access them on the external HD.
Am I correct ? Please advise before I do something I will regret.

In iMovies, can I arrange the events in the Events Library in date order, e.g. 1994 - Sports Day; 1991 - John's christening; 1993 - Christmas?
If you import from a digital camera or camcorder, iMovie will automatically store your events in date order.
However, if you imported clips from an analog camcorder, like VHS or 8MM or Hi8, iMovie does not have any metadata to work with.
In this case, there are two ways to add back this metadata.
The simplest way is to right click on your Event clip and select Adjust Clip Date And Time. Do this for all clips in the event.
The other way is to name your clips before importing to imovie in this format:
clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss.ext
where hh is hours in 24 hour time, and ext is the current file extension. If you name your clips this way, and then import to iMovie through FILE/IMPORT MOVIE then the clips will sort into the proper year. -
Printing and exporting iCal events in date order
I would love to be able to print out my gigs and events in date order so that I can give this list to the people in my band and my agents.
iCal does not do this and there are lots of people asking a similar question. I don't know enough about programming to alter the scripts, and I love having my dates synced across all my toys, but is there another app or facility that will give me the same functionality of iCal with the print-in-date-order option?possibly could try calprint app??

How to organise my events in date order?
I usually organise my events in date order but some have gone somewhere else, the album info say it starts may 6th 2014 but on the event it says it starts in 2013???
That can happen, if your event contains hidden photos.
The event below contains a hidden Photo from September 2002. When I make the hidden photos visible the date of the event will change.
Enable "Hidden Photos" in the "View" menu. Then both date ranges should match.
You will recognize the hidden photos by the "x" in the corner after unhiding them. -

I can't add a contact or edit contacts the little + sign is no longer on my phone...same thing on my iCalendar. I can no longer add events or dates. how do I fix this?
Reset your phone, hold the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up. If that doesnt fix it then you need to restore your phone in itunes, Connect to itunes, right click on your phones name to the left, then click restore from backup. That providing you have backed up your phone recently.

Now the sorting from iPhoto has no more effect on the iPhones. And photos are often duplicated when synchronisin. Before these problems didn't happen. How to do?
You can not -- neither automatically or manually - you should never be in the masters folder and there is never a need to be - iPhoto is a SQLite database and it's database structure is determined by it (and changes from time to time) - use the supported access methods (direct access to the photo files is not supported and never has been) - either using iPhoto or using the media browser in the lower left hand corner of every open/attach/iupload window
It is CRITICAL that you NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library using the finder or any program other than iPhoto

How does iphoto arrange events for display purposes? It isn't alphabetically by title, it isn't chronologically by event creation date. I am baffled. If I know how they are ordered, I can move photos among events easier by renaming the events so they show up next to each other, then I can drag and drop photos in adjacent events without scrolling. Once I am finished, I can simply rename the events back to the original names. That would be the easiest way I have found to move photos around among events. I just can't figure out the riddle of how the events are ordered.
By default events are sorted by the date of the oldest photo in the event
Probably the easiest way to move photos is to flag the photos you want together and create an event from flagged photos
But generally it is best to just leave events in date/time order and use albums for detailed organization - and/or keywords and smart albums

Find Sum of grouped events by date
I'm using Report Builder 10.50.2500.0
I've been trying to do this for awhile and have run out of ideas to try. I think it's a simple solution but I can't figure it out.
I have a database that is used for events. A booking can have several different events associated with it, even on the same day at different times. The events can be classified as breakfast, lunch or dinner events.
The report is grouped by type of event, then by event date (not datetime, the overall date), then grouped by booking.
Basically, I need the sum the total attendance of each breakfast, lunch, and dinner event by date and by booking.
For breakfast events I have this code on the Event Classification group row:
=iif(Fields!EventClassification.Value = "Breakfast",SUM(Fields!CurrentAttendance.Value),0) and the same for lunch and dinner. This works except when when there is more than one event per day.
For example, on 6/11/13 there is one lunch event and one dinner event. The report shows

In order to achieve your requirement, we can refer to the following steps:
In the Row Groups pane, right-click the Details group to add a parent group grouped by Date field.
Right-click the Date group to add a parent group grouped by Date field.
Right-click the Date group to add a total row after the group.
Delete the second and third columns with “Delete columns only” option for Date field.
Type the expression below to the total row for Breakfast column, and the same for lunch and dinner:
=sum(iif(Fields!EventClassification.Value = "Breakfast", Fields!CurrentAttendance.Value, 0))
Set the visibility of second row to Hide.

How do I set the Aperture iPhoto browser to sort events by date?
I'm new to Aperture 3 trial. I have a large iPhoto library from which I want to import an event. I keep the iPhoto events ordered by date. The Aperture iPhoto browser orders events by name. Over the years my naming conventions have changed. My earlier events had names 2001-11-15-name. Since iPhoto started to sort events by date, names started to reflect the contents rather the dates. Still there are many, many events and sorting them by name is not helpful to me at all. It could just as well be random.Sorting can be done by: Date, Rating, Label, Version Name, Keyword, File size, Pixel Size, Manual, and in Ascending or Descending order. You will see a small label at the top of the Browser which in your case is possibly says Version Name. Click on the R/H side of the label box to show all options. Allan

Thanks in advance.I'm not sure this is correct. I have mapped a NAS to drive "Z" and mapped a drive on my video editing desktop to drive "Y." These both show up in the left panel of the media browser for Premiere and Photoshop as the share names "MYDOCS" and "BAAAA," as well as in Windows Explorer. But not in Audition. Only the local drives are shown in Audition's media browser.
I can open a file in audition by using BROWSE by clicking on "MYDOCS" or "BAAAA" as they appear in the Windows Explorer file dialong and then navigating on those drives to the desired files.
What am I missing? Do others have their network drives show in the left panel of Audition's media browser? -
Help! Left Panel Filters aren't working
After I add a new folder into LR, in the Metadata Browser I see information for the photos I just added. However, when I click on one of them (i.e. Date or Camera), no previews display in the middle panel. The same goes for when I click on Keywords under the Keyword Tags sub-section. Only when I click on the Folder name do the previews display in the middle panel. How do I get previews to display in the middle panel in Library mode when I click on filtering terms (Metadata Browser, Keyword Tags) on the left panel?
Did you 1) render standard Previews, 2) wait for LR to Collect all te Metadata?

How to open a Metasolv screen (like Order screen) from 3rd party applicatio
My requirement is : should be able to open up an order screen from a .Net application. For example, I have a report (Reporting services report) with all order numbers avaialble in M6. I usually hyper link the order number on the report so clicking on
