Order iPhoto books

I tried to order a book via iPhoto that I had printed before but this time I wanted it shipped to a relatives's address. I fully expected that like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Maryland Square, LL Bean and others that even though I have a default address I would see a second window showing that address and allowing me to change the shipping address of this shipment. I did not and the order went and when I called AppleCare for advice I got a support page (not intuitive to me). I got instructions (6 to 7 steps) and would suggest that someone look at the order page confirmation (like other online stores) that allow a shipping address review before the order is placed. Once I hit the buy button there was not chance to put in another address and one Apple way is to change the default address every time and I do not have to do that with most other online stores. The Apple way is non-intuitive (they have a small book on it). It should be more intuitive like most of the application software.

  • Unable to order iphoto books :(

    Hi,
I've never had trouble ordering iphoto books before.  In fact, I order one every year on our anniversary.  This year, I have tried to order our iphoto book 5 times and each time it makes it to the uploading page and then freezes.  I have to hardboot my computer in order to exit out of iphoto.  Does anyone know if this is a software glitch or if there is a setting I need to change?  I love ordering iphoto books and feel very discouraged
    Thank you, Jenny

Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
If it is correct boot into safe mode and preview again (note that safe mode disables some fonts) and then order while in safe mode

  • Ordering iPhoto books from Australia

Although a year ago Steve Jobs announced iphoto books were now available "world wide" he left Australia way down under! and living here in Sydney I cant order iphoto books without a US credit card. So, my question, Who would like to be my iphoto book buddy? Im looking for someone stateside who I can send my iphoto files to with money and have them order a book for me from there own Macs. Any one out there?
PS I'll send you my own photos of kangaroos, echidnas, cockatoos etc as a bonus for being a helpful, unseen friend!

Although the site says you need a US credit card, you don't and you can use an Australian Credit card just fine, you have to fudge the state and zip code but a bit of crativity will fix that. Helps if you use a different e-mail address and create a new Apple login. So all you need is somebody who is happy to provide the US (might also be possible to get somebody in Canada or Europe if you know somebody there) address, and you just need to send them $10 for express postage.
I've ordered two books this way, with no great problems, just the wait to get them

  • How to order iPhoto book from South Africa - not listed as country option

How do you go about ordering an iPhoto book from South Africa - it is not listed as a country of option?

    I've found an excellent solution.
    www.24hourphotobooks.co.za
I just saved it as a PDF and uploaded it to their website... their prices are resonable, the product is really beautiful and of superior quality, and they are super efficient!
I've since used them twice! Brilliant company... I recommend you try them (also, they are based in Linbro business park in Johannesberg so you can pick up your book if you live in Jozi instead of courier... but for all other areas of SA they deliver to your door! Fantastic!)
    Hope this helps!

  • Ordering iPhoto Book abroad

I'm a .mac member living in Hong Kong, which iPhoto book is not supported over here. Can I still purchase iPhoto Book on line and have it delivered to my friend's place in USA where this service is supported?

Have just found myself in the same boat - checked the iLife06 page (http://www.apple.com/ilife/iphoto/features/books.html) and couldn't find anything about geographical limitations, so went ahead and prepared a few books. Just hit "buy book" to purchase the first one, and discovered that I couldn't order one from Hong Kong.
Given the copyright considerations, I can completely understand why I can't purchase music and/or movies from the iTunes music store, but not being able to purchase an iPhoto book makes little sense, and is one of those little things that makes me wonder about the Apple promise that "it all just works together". Given that it's all about being online, I'm not sure why a small postage charge can't fix things.
Anyway, time for me to go and sulk in a corner...

  • Ordering iPhoto book causes kernal panic

I replaced an external drive that failed. Data recovered and put onto the new drive included my iPhoto Libraries.
I have a library for creating books, and I have just created one. When I order the book, it 'connects' and begins to 'assemble book' but never gets beyond 14 of my 24 pages. The computer either freezes entirely and I have to manually shut down, or I get the black screen overlay telling me to restart my computer immediately (kernal panic).
Have read in iMac discussions re: kernal panics, and have repaired disks and permissions. Everything else works fine except the book ordering in iPhoto.
    Should I reinstall iPhoto?

    Beverly:
Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. If that doesn't help make a backup copy of the library and then rebuild it by launching iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
A workaround would be to boot into Safe Mode and try ordering the book.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Cannot order Iphoto Book

So every time I try and order an IPHOTO book it freezes after it "assembles"- while it's uploading the photos OR it uploads all the photos and right at the end it says "Click Retry to upload the failed asset again or Cancel Order to cancel your Order. What would you like to do?" - I've retried like 3 times.
So I was had OS X 10.5, bought snow leapord, upgraded to Mavericks, bought IPHOTO 11, then had to get the photo upgrader so I did.
The PHOTO book was created when I had the old version of IPHOTO so I spent all last night redoing the whole book  (as in creating a new book and replacing the photos) and it is still not working.
I've made sure the I have the correct country & everything I just have no idea what to do at this point. There are no errors popping up in the book.
    Can anyone help?

Boot into Safe Mode,  Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and create a PDF preview file of your book according to this Apple document:  iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
Be sure to proof read the PDF file for any errors, i.e. typos, photos or fonts not appearing, etc,  before ordering.  Once you're satisfied that there are no errors order your book while in Safe Mode.  Keep the PDF file for comparison to the printed copy when you receive it.
    If that fails to do the job try the following;
    Quit iPhoto.
From the Finder menu bar, choose Go > Utilities to access your Utilities folder (or press Shift-Command-U).
In your Utilities folder, open Keychain Access.
Find the "NetServices" entry in your Keychain Access window.
Select the "NetServices" entry and press the delete key.
Reopen iPhoto and attempt to place your order again.
You should be prompted to enter your account information if you deleted the Keychain entry successfully.
After entering your account information, you should be able to complete your order.

  • Trouble ordering iphoto book

Im trying to order an iphoto book and im getting the following error messages.  Im using iphoto version 9.2.3.  Can anyone assist.  These errors are stopping me from ordering my book

default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state)
With iPhoto you can reference your original photos rather than copy them to the iPhoto library - but it has many problems and is strongly NOT recommended
Simply go to the iPhoto preferences and uncheck the default preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library" - now iPhoto will link to your external photos rather than copying them
    HOWEVER
iPhoto is very poor at fixing these links if the path changes so replacing failed hardware and upgrading hardware can be very difficult
Importing becomes a two step process - once into your file structure and a second time to iphoto
Deleting becomes a two step process - once in iphoto and then in your file structure
And if you make any modifications in iPhoto ( including having the auto rotate flag set by the camera)  a modified version will be created in the iphoto library and this will not be reflected in your file structure
So is that preference checked or not?
    LN
And BTW - it is very possible that the ones saved from FB will not be high enough resolution to print - FB photos are usually very low resolution

  • I tried to order iPhoto book

Approx 5 days ago I tried to order an iPhoto book but my computer timed out. I tried twice. I never received an order confirmation email therefore assumed it did not proceed. However two charges have appeared on my credit card. i then went into my iphoto history and there are no photo books showing. I have emailed the apple support, however their response was that without an order number they can't help me. Any ideas where I can go to from here?? I want my money back!
    Thanks

First tell you credit card company you want to challange the charges and get them removed.
This Apple Help page has instructions on returns and refunds: Help - Apple Store (U.S.) but personally I believe it's rather vague on how to contact Apple.
You can try this phone number, 1-800-MY-APPLE, and aske for a product return supervisor and tell your story.

  • Unable to order iphoto book

Using iphoto 09 (v8.1.2), created a photo book but when I try to order using the Buy Book option I am unable to get past the order book window. This window shows the order details, it provides a new set up account option but does not provide an existing account option, I already have an existing apple store account. The account window and quantity options are greyed out.

    the answer is
go to the Apple store and re-enter (do not just verify but re-enter) all of your account information there and try
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
And no it does not screw you up - it fixes the problem

  • Trying to order iPhoto Book using iPhoto 5 - HELP!

Having spent ages creating an iPhoto Book for my loved one for xmas, I couldn't order/purchase it! I have iPhoto version 5 (5.0.4) and message said I needed to upgrade to iLife (cost £69). Then some technician at local Apple Store told me I would also have to upgrade to Leopard in order to run iLife (cost £129) I currently run my iBook G4 on Mac OS X (10.4.11).
This is turning out to be a very expensive gift! Is this the only way to get my Book? I am worried if I purchase these (can't really afford it anyhow) that I will loose the Book I have created (will it still be there?)..also having problems with my laptop anyhow (wont stay charged - have it permanently plugged into electric socket....and memory seems to be an issue also!)
Any advice would be really welcome...I don't really understand what I should do!
    Thanks

Thanks TD for this prompt response - which is much appreciated. I am a bit of a novice to say the least...so sorry if this is a silly question. Can I download iPhoto 06 or 08 via the internet or do I have to physically purchase a CD and install myself? Can't find Iphoto to buy on ebay and places like Amazon and Play.com seem to sell iLife software?
    What do you think? Thanks

  • Could not order iphoto book due to error not enough photos are filled

  • Ordering iPhoto book and to be shipped in Philippines?

    Hello guys,
I just created a book in iPhoto (iLife '11) and wondering if its possible to purchase it and ship it here in Philippines? Because as i proceed i found out that i couldn't change the shipping address and also noticed that Apple Photo isn't supported in Philippines. Is there anyway that i could purchase one? i find this really frustrating to find out at the end that i couldn't make this order. The only thing possible i can do is to ship it outside the country (which of course would be my relative to receive it) and to send it here to me, however i find this costly and unlikely because it would be too much of a hassle and also expensive. I really need help! thanks

  • HT1048 Edit delivery information when ordering iphoto book

I am trying to order a photo book using iphoto (iPhoto 9.1.5). I've changed the delivery address in my Apple ID account but the country where I want the book to be delivered wont change in iPhoto when I am suppose to provide delivery information. How do I change COUNTRY at the step of providing delivery address?

Remember books can only be delivered to the same country as the credit card's billing address.  So if your credit card if bill to a different country as the one you want to ship it to it can't be done.
