Order of All-Day Events

Does anyone know of a way to rearrange the order of all-day events? There are days when I have several all-day events in the same calendar, but would like one event to be listed before the others. I've tried dragging them to the order in which I'd like them, but It doesn't seem to work.

I also have this issue, where the events in iCal change when viewing in print preview or printing. I even notice they will switch if I try to print again??!!! I am using different calendars to show different colours. and they are setup on iCloud not on my mac.
it is becomign frustrating when I print 2 months worth and ssome events are correct in order and alas some will change when I print again!
Can anyone help please?

Order of all day events • printing list view without empty days

I have only just started to use iCal in a work context. I need to programme over 500 events in several different locations (probably up to 10 locations on one day). I have divided these locations into five regions, and have made a calendar for each region.
Times are not important - just the dates, so I have been entering these events as all day events. What I would like to be able to do is ensure that in the month view (and particularly the print out) that the events I put in are always ordered in the same order that I have set up the calendars in the sidebar (I would also like more than 4 events displayed per day in the month view, but that's another matter!). I have been looking on these discussion boards and elsewhere on the internet and this appears to be a feature that many users would like implemented.
I would also then like to be able to print out separate list views for each region (calendar), but missing out the empty days. This also seems to be a feature that is wished for by many users, and has been requested for some time.
Any news on whether such changes will be made? Come on Apple, I mostly love your hardware and software, but there are quite a few of these little functionality issues scattered around the place.

In short, no - there is nothing you can do to determine the the display order of a series of all-day events in iCal. While the appear to generally be listed either in the order in which they were created or in the order in which your calendars appear in the left sidebar, even this is not always the case.

Ordering Repeating All-Day Events on the calendar

Is it possible to order a list of all-day events that are repeating on multiple days of a calendar?

If you have iCloud calendars set up on your iPhone, you should have several iCloud calendars. I have Calendar, Work, Home. When you create an all day even put it in one of the calendars. For instance, i would put it in the Calendar calendar. You can select the calendar when entering the event by tapping Calendar label. You can then hide the all day events by tapping the Calendars button located top left on screen (portrait mode), then tap the name of the calendar you used to uncheck. When click done, your all day events will be hidden. Note you will have to rehide the calendar after adding a new all day event.

Opening and ordering all-day events in iCal

I only use all-day events. When I hit Command-N, it is completely random (so far as I can tell) whether an all-day or a scheduled event field appears. Is there some way to make the default for Command-N be an all-day event field? Also, how can one order the all-day events? They seem to place themselves randomly in the list and change order from day to day.

I have the very same issue. I solved it once somehow but now it's back. I use Plaxo to sync between Outlook-iCal-iPhone and maybe that somehow has confused the phone. Let me know if you find any solutions. I will do the same.

Sortable All-day events in iCal. I can dream, can't I?

I would love to be able to order my all-day events alphabetically or at least by priority or at the very least, numerically. I realize that in 2007, having an application that could do any of these things is an impossible request. Imagine being able to sort by number or alphabetize on a computer!!!!! I know what you're thinking: Dreamer! Get your head out of the clouds! Oh well, maybe it will occur to Apple engineers one day that users might like to customize their events instead of having them randomly scrambled every time one is deleted.

All Day Events shift order randomly when printing!

When trying to print in month view, my all day events shift order within their day in a seemingly random way. This is a problem because I want certain all day events to line up next to each other day after day in a specific color coded way. This has been impossible for me to accomplish because for some reason what the month view looks like is never what the preview or printing looks like. Is it possible to lock the position of all day events so they print as they appear in month view?

Multiple All Day Events, Printing "Order"

I need to create a log, where 4 fields are used for people to fill in. For ease of explanation, I'll call them "A" "B" "C" and "D".
I have tried using one Calendar, and creating 4 all day events. When I do this, and go to Print the thing, the events get all jumbled around. On some days the order will be A, B, C, D; and on others D, A, C, B.
So then I got the bright idea of creating 4 Calendars; A, B, C and D, and in each Calendar, putting one all day even per calendar. This still causes iCal to sit there and mess it up. One week, the events will appear in the correct order, and others, it won't.
I'm fresh out of ideas, and can't figure out how to make the thing print the events I want in the order I want them. Any help would be MOST appreciated!!!

Put All Day Events in a New Order?

I have some events that I list as all day events that repeat so I can see which of my day care kids I have on which days. These events are all in 1 calendar (I have multiple calendars). There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order they are listed on different days. Not alphabetical, not by order I entered them. I want to arrange them so the kids are alphabetical so it makes more sense when I glance at it. Can I rearrange all day events? I have tried dragging them around but nothing changes.

I too, am having this problem. I'm a new iCal user, and this issue alone is enough for me to stop using this application until this issue is corrected.
There seems to be no consistency in the way events are displayed, and events that are manually rearranged (in the order that I would like them) just revert back to the way they were.

Issue: all day events arent shown in year view

the normal behavior would indicate an event in bold in the year view. but this only happens on days where normal events (no all day events) have been set up.
i cross checked it with a 2012 client. working as expected. all day events show up in the year view.

The setting you quote is actually to determine how all-day events that you
create for yourself are handled (for any future event you create). By default,
all-day events have a display of "free" (as opposed to "busy" or "tentative" or
"out of office"). If your calendar is "free", then there is no bolded
indication that you have something scheduled in the year view.
If you look at an all day even in your calendar, you will see a box under
recurrence that says either "free/busy/out of office/tentative". In order for
an all day event (or any event really) to bold the calendar number, this value
cannot be "free".
There is no need to copy views to the Post Office any longer. Views are in a
fixed location on the server (/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/data) and the POA
always has access to them.

Organizing multiple all day events in one day

I'm trying to figure out if I can use iCal to act as my doggy daycare biz calendar.
I tried adding each dog's appointment as an all day event, creating multiple all day events per day, however I can't figure out if there is a way to organize the order of these events. They seem to appear in the order I add them in and I can't change that. Especially when I make some of the entries repeat on a daily basis the order just gets more and more messed up. I've tried doing this with only 5 clients as a test and things are looking horrid so far. I would need to be able to enter about 20 clients, and under multiple calendars.
Would be nice to be able to have this on my computer and on my iphone by using the iCal as opposed to maintaining my current pen and paper system. Any suggestions?

You can't change the order of the event, they do go in based on the order they are entered.

Outlook all day events bug

Some of my all-day events (like birthdays) synced over but would not show up on list view if there were other all-day events on the same day. When I edited the entry, I noticed the schedule was, on a Feb 12 for example, from Feb 12 to Feb 11 (yes, backwards). I changed the 11 to 12, made sure the all-day switch was on, and voila! My all-day even co-existed nicely with other all-day events.
It only did that in 3-4 of 15 all-day events. Just in case anyone runs into this.

Ditto - another one for the pile. Using Exchange Server 2007 and iPhone 4.1.
Additionally, if I create an all-day appointment on the iPhone that spans two days (typically Sat & Sun) and invite another party, when the invitation is accepted the appointment gets screwed up on the iPhone, depending on which view you're looking at. Here's the use case:
1) Create all-day event starting 27 Nov ending 28 Nov, invite somebody.
2) Invite is accepted, look at appointment on iPhone.
Month view: 27 Nov event shows as 00:00, 28 Nov is "all-day". Nothing on 29 Nov.
Day view: 27 & 28 Nov blocked out fully
List view: Event only shows as 00:00 on 27 Nov, nothing on 28 or 29.
Lastly, when you open the appointment and look at the detail, you see that it now runs from 00:00 on 27 Nov to 00:00 on 29 Nov. For a two day all-day event you created on the same device minutes earlier.
Come on Apple! I switched to the iPhone from Windows Mobile because of your slick UI and great choice of apps, and even forgave you the lack of task and category support. But if you can't even get my appointments right I'll think twice before placing my order for that MacBook Pro I've been ******* after.

Organise all day events - iCal

I woud be so much happier if I was able to use the appearance or All Day Events in iCal but with the time event also. I prefer the All Day Event block colours, don't like the little round dot colour at all!! I need to print the monthly calncar off for a team of carers to view and they would like to see 'their colour' in order of time of shift! They are so randomly entered into the calander and I am unable to move them around, so a carer working from 7am-9am, colour green, is actually showing as the last shift on the day. This is most unsuitable. I have tried entering each one in order, but that too is not working - can anyone help? Thanks. SM

I really thought someone would be able to help me with this one - I am surprised! I'd wondered if perhaps I should go with the different coloured dots and tabs with the events being timed so that at least they appear on the monthly view in order - but am now condsidering if I can change the text colour to match the calendar colour - any ideas?

Why can't we change the 9am alarm for all-day events?

I need these all-day events alarms to be at another time, why can't I do this? Why the arbitrary 9am? Please, don't suggest to not use all-day events, this is not an acceptable solution to a very basic setting change that should be accessible.

See from the business perspective, but not from the system point of view.
Intial triggering point for any business operation(inquiry , quotation , order - others are dependant transactions) is sold to party ( the one who place the order), which means at the time of placing the order, respective business partner should completely aware of & disclose the required details to complete the business deal.
eg: where these order supposed to dispatch,
to whom business has to send the copy of invoice &
who is gonna settle this invoice amount.
So Sold to party will have all the required details. Hence one sold to party act as the other business partners.
Once agreed, then only business partner is created as Sold to party in system. If is there any changes from the Sold to party such as in future sold to party is not going to receive the goods, but they nominated some other business partner for this function, then the respective details will be recorded as Ship to party & assigned this number to Sold to Party.
So you cant change the sold to party as some other business partners such as SH, BP & PY.
