Order of Photographs in iPhoto 6.0.2

Hey there.
I have recently been importing loads and loads of images into iPhoto, as you do. I have been using film and such, so have scanned in prints and film, arranged them in a folder, and imported that folder. Simulating the way a digital camera imports pictures...
I have noticed that iPhoto seems to have a tendancy to arrange the film rolls in good, but not great order.
So i have been altering the date of the film rolls, to get a more chronological order to my snaps. Until just a few days ago the film rolls were organised by date, then title. Cool.
Now, any newly imported film rolls seem to just tag on to the date. No longer keeping the convienient alphbetical order.
I think i have performed the latest update around the same time as i have noticed this, but i can't be sure of the update date and the first occurance of this.
Has any one else noticed this, is it something i've done? If so, any ideas of how i can get everything back to normal?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Film rolls are only sorted by the date seen at the right of the window. You can change that date in the lower right of the Source pane by selecting a roll, clicking on the small "i" button at the bottom and then changing the Date field. You can change the order of the dates from ascending to descending thru the View->Sort Photos menu option.
For newly scanned files the created date probably will the one used at import. However if some have been modified before importing the latest modified date of the bunch is used. So if you want correct chronological sorting of your files you'll have to do some editing of that date field.

You can't with iPhoto bu there are lots of apps that work with iPhoto and can be used for the job:
Impression is one such. There are others. Search on MacUpdate
You can also use an editor for the job.
In order of price here are some suggestions:
Seashore (free)
The Gimp (free)
Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
Acorn ($50 approx)
Pixelmator ($50 approx)
Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

You can't.
And advertising that you are breaking the rules with your account here in public just alerts Apple that they have a user who believes that the rules don't apply to them.

How to hold several photos in the "order print" function of iPhoto? I only get one at a time.

What is your iPhoto verstion? Assuming you are having the latest version on your new mac, it should work like this:
Select all photos at once in the event or album.
With the photos selected, use the command "File > Order Prints" from the main menu bar.
What happens, when you try that?

How to change the order of photos in iPhoto on my iPad, so I can create the slide show I want.

Here's what I did to generate a slide show with Ken Burns effect on the iPad...with the exact same slide order I created on the iMac. I have iOS 5.5 and iPhoto App on New iPad, and iPhoto 11 on iMac.
In iPhoto for the Mac, create a new Album and give it the name of your Slide Show. Drag or import the photos you want into the album. Rearrange the order of the album photos as desired. Do this by selecting Manual Sort under View/Sort Photos or simply start dragging thumbnails to the places you want them (the sort method will automatically change to Manual).
When you have the order you want, shut down iPhoto on the Mac to make sure iPhoto's database gets updated with the new photos and their order.
Restart iPhoto and go to File/Export on the top menu. Select File Export at the top left of the Export window. Set JPEG quality to Max, Size to Full Size, and File Name to Album Name and Number. Set Subfolder Format to None.
Click Export to bring up what looks like the Finder. Create an empty folder on your hard drive under Pictures and give it the name of your slide show. Click on the new folder and then click OK at the bottom right of the Finder-like window. The new folder will contain JPEG files with file names in the form, Album Name - 001.jpeg, Album Name - 002.jpeg, etc. There will also be an iPOD Photo Cache folder. Click at the top of the Name column to order files by file name. 001 will be your first slide, 002 your second, etc.
Now start up iTunes. You are going to force the Mac to sync these new photos with the iPad. Click on your iPad device in the list at the left. Now click on the Photo button at top right. Make sure the Sync Photos check box at top is checked, then select Choose Folder... from the list at right. In the Finder-like window that opens, select the folder where your slides are. Make sure that All Folders is checked, then select Open at the bottom right.
Now click Sync at bottom right. The slides will be copied to your iPad. Both the Photos app and the iPhoto app will properly handle the slide order, and the Ken Burns effect is available using the iPhoto app.
I ran across this problem in preparing a Ken Burns slide show for a wedding. Drove me nuts for a week why the order changes when syncing an iPhoto album from iMac to iPad. But this worked and gave me several options. I plan to use the digital AV adapter for iPad and show slides on a large screen TV using HDMI connection from iPad to TV. TV essentially acts as an external monitor for the iPad.

I have tried ordering a calendar on iPhoto _09 version 8.1.2 and when i click order calendar i get two options 1) Cancel or 2) Set up an account. I already have an account and cancel definitely won't work so i click set up an account and enter my Apple account credentials which i have had for years and the next screen is 1 of 3 "create Apple ID" but all the information is prefilled with my previously entered apple ID info. Thats it i cannot go any further. Any ideas?

Go to the Apple store (store.apple.com) and delete and re-enter all of your information including billing information and be sure express check out is set

Are you trying to print from iPhoto on your Mac or iPad/iPhone? If you are trying to print form yor Mac, check, if the Print Products Store in the iPhoto Preferences > Advanced is set to U.K.
Also the bimmling address, Delivery address, the country for your AppleID and Credit Card must all be in the same country. Check this document:

I assume you mean 'Order an album via iTunes', not iPhoto.
If you live in France, I believe your account with Apple will need to show a French residential address and be supported by a credit card issued by a bank in France.
That means you will need to open a new account if these details are not part of your current account.
Incidentally, some albums in iTunes USA are not available in all countries due to licensing agreements etc.

Exporting photographs from iPhoto 6 without thumbnails

I have a Blaupunkt Lucca Navigator which can read secure digital cards with tiff or jpeg photographs. If you export photographs from iphoto 6 to a secure digital card you export each photo twice: one normal photo readable by the Lucca navigator and an invisible thumbnail with the same name beginning with an "_" which is read as an "invalid file" by the Lucca. How to cancel the invisible thumbnails from the secure digital card? possibly without resorting to the too difficult (at least for me) terminal.

The Mac OS uses "resource forks" to store things like icon previews.
When you copy an image to the drive the resource fork is stripped out into a separate file (your _file).
Easiest would be to just ignore them as they are very tiny in file size.
You could use special software that can strip the resource fork from the file before moving it to the other drive. Many image editing apps (GraphicConverter, Image Ready etc.) can also strip the resource fork.

Ordering Multiple Seperate Orders of Books in iPhoto

I have to order multiple books from iphoto with each having a different shipping, billiing address and CC#s. I was wondering if after I make the first purchase, will the pictures be remembered because they're already uploaded to the server? I need to make about 10 orders within a day and the uploading process takes too long for where I'm at.
Or is there any expedited process that I'm overlooking that could help speed along the orders while still being able to ship individual books to multiple addresses
