Order of Pictures

Some of my pics are of apartments I show for a living, several thousand of them but while I have them in perfect order on my macbook ie numerical by address this does not transfer accurately to my iphone.
I have tried everything I can think of, changing 1 to 01 to facilitate this but to no avail. Most maintain a decent order but some are grouped at the end regardless of address or date taken.
As I cannot even put them in folders for building eg I have to do a lot of scrolling & its driving me mad.
Hope this makes sense,I suspect not.
Any help greatly appreciated

I've also been pretty frustrated by the absence of a view in the Camera Roll that includes basic photo metadata. This is such a basic feature -- even PalmOS-based devices allow you to see the date and time photos were taken. Am I just a moron and have missed how to view photos by date?

  • In Photos, how can one control the order of pictures in an album?

Is there any way, in Photos, to control the order of pictures in an album? Is there any way to sort, or order things manually?

Thanks. Let me refine my question as follows: is there a way to keep the manual order in albums that I had in iPhoto when transferring to Photos?

  • How to change the order of pictures on Apple TV

The pictures shown on the TV are not in date/time or file number order.  How do you change the order of the pictures on the screen?

I have struggled with this last year. The sort order of pictures is different in iPhoto, iPad, Apple TV. There are some tricks to get the desired order, but I never managed to get this consistent. The Apple TV has no option for sorting unfortunately.
Maybe things are better now, but I have given up on showing photos using iTunes.
Nowadays I am streaming photos from my NAS and I can show them in any order I want.

  • Reversing order of pictures in slideshow

I am about to make a dvd slideshow and would like to know how to reverse the order of pictures in iphoto so that they apear in the right order in idvd slideshow

In iphoto, I would set up an album, even if it is only temporary, to hold the photos that you want to be in the slideshow. In iphoto you then select which option to use for sorting the photos inside that album. For example, By Name, By Date, etc. If all else fails, you can arrange them manually inside of that album. In idvd then, you can drag the whole album into the slide show sorter from the media menu. As idvd imports the photos and creates the thumbnails they should come into idvd in the same order that they were in iphoto. At least they do for me.

That's an all to frequent problem.  Try deleting the iPhoto preference file and then reset all of the preferences in iPhoto. That may do the job.

  • Sorting order of pictures from Aperture in an iPod slideshow

I've recently got a video iPod and have transferred all my photos to it from Aperture. I found that it was necessary to create an album for every project in my Aperture library in order for the projects to show up on the iPod.
Having got all my projects (as albums) listed on the iPod, I want to be able to view them as slideshows. However, there's been a 'scattering effect' in the sorting of all the pictures in each album: overall, they're broadly in the correct order, but many pictures have been scattered out of the order they're supposed to be in.
For example, in one particular album, which is of a two-day shoot, the pictures are broadly chronological on the iPod but many pictures are out of sequence. Sometimes they're displaced just a few positions from where they should be. Sometimes they're on completely the wrong day (e.g. a handful of day 1 shots are intermingled with the day 2 pictures). It's easy to see that the ordering is wrong by looking at the 5x5 album preview on the iPod, and of course the slideshow reflects that order.
My photos are all dated correctly (in terms of Mac datestamp and EXIF image data), and they're named sequentially (in the form "### image name.jpg", where ### is a three-digit number starting from 001). In Aperture, the pictures are set to be ordered by filename, and they do appear in the right order there, but once they've made it across to the iPod they're out of sequence. I can't see any reason for the new iPod ordering: it seems entirely arbitrary, yet it's the same after every synch, and it doesn't correspond to any setting I can make in Aperture as far as I can see.
My iPod's date setting is correct and the 'shuffle slideshow' option is turned off. (Though I don't think that either fact is relevant - especially not 'shuffle', as the pictures are clearly in the wrong order in the album previews and the slideshow just reflects that ordering.)
I want and need my pictures to be in their correct numerical/chronological sequence. If they're in the wrong order, the slideshow facility is completely useless. I've seen similar questions asked by other users on this forum, but none has yet received a satisfactory answer.
Someone, please put me out of my misery and tell me how to make this work as it should!

Thanks a lot for the answer. But what an absolute pain in the nether regions! The situation as it stands is totally unacceptable, and I really didn't want to have to mess about with iPhoto any more. I bought Aperture to replace iPhoto, not to act as a back-end to it.
I sincerely hope that Apple will address this issue, and soon. The combination of Aperture and iPod is frankly not fit for purpose. And when you consider that the 'free' software equivalent (iPhoto plus iPod) is just fine, you start to feel a little ripped off.
By the way, David, it's a small world! You know that church just across the road from David Brown? My father's been organist there for about 40 years. And my uncle worked in David Brown's in Meltham (though it's been demolished for years, now). I live only about a mile away from where you used to work.

  • How can I arrange the order of pictures in a slide show and add a caption to each?

I go to:www.photoshop.com/users/name. Then to My Gallery and click onto the album name then to "slide show." I want to reorder the pictures and add captions. How?

Go to your photoshop.com website. Log in if needed. Click on "Online Tools."  Choose "Photoshop Express Organizer."  Click and drag photos into the order you want.
Captions might best be added in the Elements Editor Organizer (99jon is correct) by double-clicking on thumbnail to make a full screen image, then a line appears under the photo and asks you to print your caption there. Sync it with your online website.

  • Custom Order of Pictures not accepted

    Hi to all!
It happen to me now on a regular basis. After ordering and pre-editing of newly imported files in my first 'neutral' project I drag them in groups into other existing projects. Now I would expect that the new pictures will than appear at the bottom of the project, in the same order they were placed before.
But often the new motives are mingled with the older pictures, and all my ordering before was useless, and has to be redone. Also it seems that some pictures simply don't like to be placed beside certain other particular pictures, and simply popping away from each other. Only in a kind of labyrinth game I can bring them staying side by side.
I always using the 'custom' setting in the browser, no other order like image date, rating etc.
does anybody experience similar behavior? Or did I simply overlooked anything? The big advantage of Aperture as organizing tool is hereby for me a bit reduced.
    Any ideas?

I won't address the workflow that you've chosen, but others may question the idea of starting images off in one project and then moving them to another...
That said, I think one straightforward way to accomplish what you want is to:
    1) Import photos into your "neutral" project
    2) Create one or more albums in that project to hold your reordered images
    3) Perform the reordering +within the album+
    4) Drag the images at the project level from your neutral source to your destination project
    5) Drag the album from the neutral to destination project
The images will have been migrated from the neutral to the destination project, and your custom ordering will be preserved inside the migrated album.

  • Slideshow...setting order of pictures

I am having a difficulty finding how to edit the sequence order of the photos for a slideshow. I do not want them to play in the order in which they were shot. I also realize that they have to download from the hard drive into the iPod in the order I want prior to the download. Despite re-naming the photos in numeric order that I want....they load into the ipod into what appears an unpredictable order.
Am I supposed to use some external software to organize these or can I use Windows Media (Pictures and Fax Viewer)?
    Thank you,
    Mark

  • Order of pictures in Flickr after sync?

It seems that after I synced an iPhoto album to Flickr, the images in the Flickr set appear in the order in which I added them to iPhoto. Quite annoying, I'd rather have them in the date order as in iPhoto.
Is there a way to get this done?

Hmm, I know I can manually sort pictures in Flickr, but I'm a lazy person and like the default sorting in iPhoto just fine. It's kind of annoying to have to go to flickr for every set I upload and reorder the pictures.

  • I photo reorganizing order of pictures ?

I created a standard album of photos in I Photo and changed the order of some of the pictures. I marked a group of about 50 pictures and moved it to the end of the album. Apparently it worked fine but I turned off my computer and the next day turned it on again and the group of 50 pictures was back in it's original position and not at the end of the album like I wanted it.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Make sure the sort option for that album is set to manual. If the Restore Manual Sort option is not grayed out select it.
If you can't keep the manual sort of that or any album between launches of iPhoto make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the fix below:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Change order of pictures

    Hi,
I have a Smart Album for a trip. Friend on the same trip gave me their pictures too which I want to include in the same smart album.
Unfortunately, when I download their pictures, the date is the day of when I downloaded the file i.e. after the trip. So when I do a slide show of the SA, the last pictures added are out of chronological order. Not good for a slide show...
    How to get around that?
    Thanks

  • Placing order for picture book

When I click "buy book" I get the following message:
"Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can buy this book."
I have checked every page 5x over and there are NO EMPTY FRAMES. I even re-did the entire project just to see if that would solve the problem. iPhoto will not let me proceed with the order without fixing this problem. I'm making this book as a birthday gift to my wife.
Any tips/suggestion/help on how to fix this?

This is what Larry is referring to:
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
