Order of Slideshow Photos

The 600 photos in my slideshow are suddenly in exact reverse order (600 down to 1). I don't remember altering the photo order of the slideshow, though I was recently sorting the full Library by keyword, date, etc. Is there any function that will restore (flip) the slideshow order, short of dragging all the photos manually?

If this did not fix the problem there may be a problem with your iPhoto Library; perhaps the Cache is not readable: Try Old Toad's fix here:

  • Photo order for slideshow

I have a directory of 300 photos, numbered 1-300, which are in the order I want them in...they are not in date order at all.   how can i preserve my order when pulling into the organizer in elements for slideshow creation?
a related topic...any batch renumbering utility in elements?

    Hi,
I'm not too clear on how you have numbered the photos. If you have just renamed each photo with the number then there could be a problem in ordering the photos in PSE. In PSE, the folder view displays the photos in alphabetic order not numeric order.
So, photos could appear in a different order:-
    Numeric order :   1, 2, 10, 20
    Alphabetic order : 1, 10, 2, 20
When renaming photos, to preserve the order for other viewers, it is best to use leading zeros to pad each number (e.g. 001, 020, 300).
To get them int PSE, just do Get Photos and Videos -> From Files and Folders and point to the folder containing the photos. Note that the getting of the photos does not take a copy of the photos, it just catalogs them.
Once they have been imported, switch to Folder Location in the Display options (top right) and select the folder where your photos are. If you have the naming right, the photos should appear in the correct order.
Now create an Album tag and apply it all the photos.
You can now switch to Thumbnail View in the Display options (my preferred view to work in) and if you select the album tag, the photos should be displayed in the correct order. In album view, you can drag the photos around into the order you want.
When you want to create you slideshow, just select all the photos in the album.
Personally, I don't bother renaming photos, I just import them into PSE and select the ones I want and allocate an album tag to them. In album view, I then move the photos around into the order I want and then create the slideshow.
For you last topic, why do you want to renumber the photos? There is the Export facility which enables you to copy the photos to an new folder and you can apply a sequence number.
Hope that the above was helpful

  • Slideshow photo order problem

How do I fix the problem with slideshow photo order?

What problem with slideshow photo order?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

  • Creating slideshows - Apple TV is changing the order of the photos

This did not used to be an issue, did Apple break something with the latest update?

The order in which photos are displayed hasn't changed for me. Can't remember whether the tv uses the file name or the date for its ordering but it doesn't just show them in the order you have them in an album or folder.

  • IDVD Changes Order of Slideshow

I just installed iLife '06 yesterday, and I tried to use iDVD to make a DVD of some vacation photos. I divided the pictures up into groups of 99, but when I created the first slideshow and imported the media, the software changed the order of my photos. I dragged the 99 jpg files to the "drop" window, but the files, which are named by numberical sequence, appeared in random order.
Is there a way i can get iDVD to keep the photos in the order that I put them in?

You can rearrange the images in the slideshow window by dragging to put them back in the correct order - I know it's more work, but that's the work around.

  • How can I keep the order of my photos when I synch them with my iPad

Prior to transferring my photos to my iPad, I arrange the photos in a specific order.  Once the transfer to my iPad is complete, the sequence/ordering of the photos from the Album/Event never stays in tact.  I am using iTunes to manage the transfer process.  Is there a trick to making the photos all transfer in the order they were originally placed?

Thanks for the quick response.  Sorry about the lack of info.  I am using iPhoto to compile and arrange my photos.  I am using IOS 8.1.3  on my iPad.  I went as far as to include the sequence number for each photo in hopes it would sort by sequence.  But if it is by capture date etc... then I guess that won't help.  I wasn't aware that you could rearrange the order of your photos once they had transferred to the iPad.  I guess I could also create a slideshow of the photos and synch it with the iPad..  That should maintain the order...  Thanks again..

My Olympic camera SD card doesn't fit into the SD card camera reader. Apple advised me to purchase the product in order to import photos to my IPad. How do I over ride this problem. How do I import photos from an Olympus FE-340 directly to my IPad?

Your camera uses an OLympic XD picture card http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-xD-Picture-Memory-202332-package/dp/B002LC2DQ4/ref =pd_sim_sbs_p_1 This card has different dimensions compared to an SD card.
You should be able to plug the cable that came with your camera into the camera connection kit to import the pics.

  • How do I synch photos from my PC to Ipad2 without a change in the order of the photos?

I am not able to synch photos from my PC to Ipad2 without a change in the order of the photos. I ordered them by date so thought there would be no problem. What can I do to solve this problem?

A better solution in windows is set up folders and organize your pictures that way.  That will be similar to events that iPhoto uses. That way the pictures will stay in an organized fashion for you.
I use a mac and iPhoto and the pictures are organized by events.
    Good luck.

  • TS3989 New MacAir but  photostream does not work.  Message though everything is on. "In order to use Photo Stream, you have to be signed into your iCloud account in System Preferences." And,

New computer but Photostream does not work.  I am signed into my account but get the following message:  In order to use Photo Stream, you have to be signed into your iCloud account in System Preferences.  I go to system preferences and then get a message that says that my account cannot be accessed.  However, I am using my icloud account for email and other items and it works fine.  Any thoughts?

Are you getting this messages in iPhoto? If so try the following (again?):
Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.  Then log back in and re-enable, respectively.  That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • HT4906 I just upgraded iphoto, but it is version 7.1.5 (and called iPhoto 8). Do I have to pay for iPhoto 9 in order to use photo stream?

I just upgraded iphoto, but it is version 7.1.5 (and called iPhoto 8). Do I have to pay for iPhoto 9 in order to use photo stream?

To use Photo Stream, you will need iPhoto 9.2 at least. This is a major upgrade from iPhoto 7.1.5 and you will have to buy it.

  • How can I change the order of the photos in a slide show I have created on my iPad mini?

How can I change the order of the photos I have selected in a slide show on my iPad Mini?

Currently, the order in which the phone numbers appear (in a contact) is dependent on the sequence to which you enter them. There is no way to change that order other than re-entering them in the desired order.

  • Automatic refresh of photo order when changing photo titles in iPhoto 9.6

I've just moved from an older version of iPhoto to 9.6.
In the previous version, when you changed the title of a photo (within an event), the sort order of the photos was automatically and immediately updated.  In 9.6 it isn't - I have to do View - Sort Photos then select another sort criteria (e.g. date), then do this again for title, to get the photo order to refresh.
Does anyone know if I am I stuck with this new (retrograde) behaviour, or if there's a way to get iPhoto 9.6 to automatically refresh the photo order?
Otherwise, is there a keyboard shortcut for refreshing the photo order, or for changing the view - sort photos criteria?
Thanks in advance for any help!

It will resort if you leave the Event (click All Events button) and then go back.  Not a good solution but quicker IMO than using the View ➙ Sort menu method.
Be sure to send a bug report to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
