Order of songs in playlist?

Hi there,
I have imported playlist "THE VERY BEST" from my dad's CD with cca 165 mp3's. They are properly labeled, with song name, artist and even album, but since it's compilation, they obviously do differ.
They have proper track number, like 1 of 165, 2 of 165, and so on, but I am unable to have and see them sorted right.
They sort somehow stupid alphabetically, regardless of my track numbers. Why? I did selected that they are "part of compilation" but I didn't observed any change. I am not sure that for is Grouping field in description, but I filled it to arbitrary name (Dad's nickname) for all songs, yet still no effect. What am I doing wrong? Why is track number beeing ignored?

Within a playlist window the items are sorted by the column header you have selected. For example, if you select "name" it will sort by name. If you want them sorted by track number select track.

  • Moving order of songs in Playlist?

How do I change the order of songs in a playlist?

The songs go into the playlist in the order you put them into it.
If you had the library sorted in alphabetical order, selected a bunch of songs, they will be in the playlist in alphabetical order.
If you select one song and add it then another and add it, then another and add it, they will be in the order you added them.

  • Moving the order of songs on playlists

I would like to move the order of some songs around on my playlist. Say if it's grouped by genre, but I'm not in the mood to listen to 80s (seeing as it's at the top)..., is there a way to put it somewhere else? Other than just reversing the playlist and having Z start first.
    Thanks!

you could make a "smart playlist" that doesn't include the particular genre... that would work, you can do almost anything with smart playlists...
    regards,
    Pete.

  • [All Platforms][Playlists] Reorganize the order of songs in playlists

Users should be able to reorganize the order of their songs in their playlists by their own way. The filters are nice, but it would be more useful and cool if we could personalize the order of the songs that we add on the playlists.

Updated: 2015-07-09Hi and thanks for your contribution! As  mentioned, this is currently available in Spotify. Let me know if we've misunderstood your suggestion.

  • How can I change the order of songs in a smart playlist?

    Hi there,
I have a question about smart playlists.
I have a smart playlist where all songs rated 5 stars are ordered in descending order, meaning the latest additions first. That works well in iTunes and I can rearrange the songs there without a problem.
But when I start the iPod on my iPhone the order of songs in this playlist is always the same. In my case the latest songs are always put last no matter how I sort the songs in iTunes. I tried to delete and create a new smart playlist but the result is always the same.
    Is there a solution?
    Thanks for your answers....

  • How do I change the order of songs in a playlist?

I know that I used to be able to drag songs to a different order in my iTunes playlists, but tonight, no matter the order that I add the songs to the playlist, or Smart Playlist, the order of the songs is alphabetically arranged, and the only other option is to click on "name" but then it just does reverse alphabetical order.
Is something different, in a recent iTunes upgrade?  I'm a music teacher and I am trying to put the songs in the order that my students will be performing them next week, so this is driving me crazy tonight!!!!
Thanks so much for sharing wisdom on what I am doing wrong!

Do you have other choice selected in "View Options"?  Try turning on columns for album, artist, etc. if they aren't on and see if you can sort by those.  The other thing to try is to make sure you are viewing by List, not cover flow or another choice.  iTunes selects Album Artist by default and that can really make it hard to get things to group properly.

  • Ipad2, iOS 8.1.2, how do I change the order of songs in my Playlists?

I Have an iPad 2, using iOS 8.1.2. i can't seem to change the order of songs in my Playlists in the Music App. I've clicked on Edit, and tried moving the 3 lines on the right up/down, but when I press Done, the changes have not been affected. Can anyone advise, please? I'm sure I'm missing something!

It sounds like you are doing it correctly. That method works for me in iOS 8.1.2
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iDevice?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • How can I shuffle the order of songs in a playlist in iTunes 11?

How can I shuffle the order of songs in a playlist in iTunes 11?

Never mind, finally figured it out. All the advice says to click on the left-most column, but it's actually the second column from the left (the first one, in mky version of iTunes, is the album list.)

  • How to change the order of songs in a playlist?

The order of songs in a playlist on ITunes is different than the order of songs on my IpodNano 7th Gen -- how can I get them to be the same?

I think so. I have "Music" selected from the drop down menu, and I have "Playlists" selected from the top row of choices. The title of the playlist is in a header row with the number of songs (26) and playing time. The first column is the one that shows the numbers assigned to each song.
I have tried selecting "Edit Playlist" thinking that might be where I should go to fix this, but I can't drag or drop there either.
    Any other ideas???

  • Making the order of Songs on a burnt CD the same as on the Playlist

I have a big problem when burning a playlist to CD. Having created the playlist the list will always play in the listed (or correct) order. However whenever I burn the playlist to a CD the order of songs turns out to be different on the CD from that originally created in the playlist.

Wish I could even burn CDs, my itunes says the burner is drive D: when its actually drive E: and when you try to burn it says "burner not found".
It gets worse and worse the more you try to do things with itunes the more bugs you expose!

  • Why is the order of songs on a playlist different on my iphone than it is on my computer

The playlist "My Top Rated" is in descending order by rating on my computer (songs with the same rating are then sorted by artist) but on my phone they are always in a messed up order. I've tried making new playlists and resynching my phone, but nothing is working. And no, I don't have shuffle on.

  • How to Change Song Order in User-Created Playlist

I have several playlists that I've created by just adding a bunch of songs to. I then would like to go into those playlists and change the order that the songs are listed in so that they play in that new order (they are initially listed in the same order that I added them to that playlist - i.e. the 1st song added is the 1st song in the playlist, then 2nd song aded is listed as the 2nd track, etc.), but I can't figure out an easy way to do that. I cannot drag a song up; if I want to move it up, I have to drag every song above it down (and then they get all out of order!). If I try to drag a song up, it goes to the very bottom of the playlist when I release the mouse button!
How can I change the order of songs that I've added to a playlist? There's got to be an easier way!
    Thank you,
    Dennis

I already had the arrow pointing up in the track order header column, but your suggestion gave me an idea - I went up to "View" and then clicked on "Hide artwork column". That did the trick - I can now drag songs up and down in my playlists to change their order to my heart's content!
    Thank you!
    Dennis

  • Can't edit a specific playlist and change order of songs.

I set up a new playlist and am unable to move the songs around to the order I want. My other playlists are letting me edit/move around the order without a problem. How can I access the edit feature for my "blocked" playlist.

If you want to order your songs manually select your playlist and display your playlist in the browser,
then click on the header row - the small triangle in the leftmost column.
Then you should be able to drag your songs into the correct order.

  • I want to burn a playlist but after it completes it has rearranged the order of songs. How do I keep my order?

Does anyone know what setting I need to change so that when I burn a playlist to a CD, I can keep my order of songs? iTunes keeps changing the order.

For a full run down see Grouping tracks into albums. Generally to control the order of tracks within an album you need to use appropriate disc and track numbers. You may also need to change the sort column for the view.
