  • Rearrange order of tracks in a playlist

I have a playlist that I've added songs to, and rearranged by dragging the tracks into different orders. At some point I clicked one of the column titles (Track, Artist, Album..) and it was reorganized by that label. I can no longer drag tracks into a particular order. Is there a way to restore the playlist to that original order that I was editing before?

To add a track to a playlist, you can right-click on it and choose a playlist from the "Add to" option, or just drag it to the correct playlist on the left.
If you're looking at a playlist, you can drag the tracks around to re-order it. If a track won't move, make sure that your playlist isn't in some predefined order like sorted alphabetically or by date added. If there's an arrow next to any of the column labels, click that label until there is no arrow anymore. You should be able to drag tracks to new locations in the playlist now.

I have an iPod 5thGen 30 GB. My tracks on my playlists are rarely in the correct order on the iPod, tho the order is correct when viewed on iTunes. Is there anything I can do?

It goes by the Track # field, as seen in on a list in iTunes.  So, make sure the Track # field is correctly entered for each song when you review the album on a list in iTunes.  Also, make sure the Album field is entered identically for all the songs on the album.
You can edit those fields by doing a Get Info on a song, and going to the Info windows's Info tab,

    My Wishlist!
Please give me the ability to change the order of songs in the playlist and to save (overwrite) or save as...
Please. I know you can overwrite by re-typing the same name... which is a pain if you can't remember every name and frankly, a waste of time.
Which brings me to... Let's be able to rearrange the track order from within a playlist! It is 2005 already.
And if I'm going to pass up the opp to show off my kids pictures from a 40 GB music only machine, please let me crossfade the tracks with a few time based options?

I couldn't find anything on this in the FAQ that was definiti've--so here is my question....is the only way to transfer a playlist from a computer by using Creative Mediasource? I can't get WMP0 to work, nor the new Yahoo Music Engine (which works great in every other respect, by the way).
It's certainly easier?to create and edit playlists via the PC, using any of the software that can do this e.g. MediaSource, and even easier with the?excellent shareware Notmad Explorer.

  • Playlist Order vs Track Number

Does anybody know of a way to have a playlist play tracks in a certain order without changing the track number? I don't want to do this because some of the tracks in my playlist are from albums and changing the track number in the playlist obviously affects the source album as well.

Just click the first column heading to sort by number (not the track number column). You can then drag the tracks around to setup the play order and they will play that way.

  • Can't save order of tracks in playlist when editing

my itouch seems to let me edit the order of tracks by holding and dragging the column on the right. However when I press "done" it reverts to the original order!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • Order of tracks wrong on iphone

I had an album whose tracks were not numbered. I gave them all the correct track numbers in itunes, sync'ed my iphone, and the tracks are still in the wrong order. so, i removed the songs from my iphone playlist, sync-ed, re-added the songs, sync-ed, and they still are in the wrong order. any ideas?

well, i'm always sorted artist by album which sorts by track number automatically, at least in itunes.
i added a 2nd playlist with just the one album in correct order. removed the tracks from the 1st playlist and sync-ed. when i choose the album on the ipod the tracks still show up in the wrong order. if i go to the playlist, the songs are in the correct order because it is in playlist order.
i even went so far as to copy the tracks to the desktop, delete the album from itunes and the itunes folder, sync phone to get rid of album from phone, restart itunes, add album to itunes from desktop (at which point album gets added with correct track numbering), re-add to phone playlist, sync. still in wrong order.
these files were originally on a windows box, and were probably in a windows media player library at one point and then in a windows itunes library later. perhaps that has something to do with it, dunno. the thing that strikes me is that itunes knows which track has which number, so i would think the phone would too.....

  • Organizing Order of Tracks

    Hi,
How do I organize the order my tracks play in on my iPod? Can the track order be altered once I have copied it in to my iTunes or iPod library?

On the iPod, the sort order of a playlist is set by iTunes so you essentially have three choices once the music is on the iPod - 1) play it how it appeared in iTunes when you synced, 2) shuffle it, and 3) use an OnTheGo Playlist to create a new order by adding one song at a time (ugh).

  • How do you delete duplicate tracks off your playlist?!

How do you delete duplicate tracks off your playlist - everytime I connect my hard-drive it adds another of every single track - argh!!!!
I remember there being a 'delete duplicate tracks' option on a much older version of itunes - is this still available and if not if you opt for the 'consolidate library' option will this automatically save to you computer as I have too much music for my laptops memory capacity! On top of that how can I stop this issue from contantly re-occuring everytime I connect my hard-drive?! Apologies if im being thick here.... xX*laura*Xx

You are doing something wrong, iTunes doesn't add tracks to the library unless you ask it to, so there is a problem somewhere in your workflow which is creating the duplicates. For example, having iTunes set up to "Copy files to the iTunes Media folder when adding to library" and then repeatedly adding in a folder from an external drive would do it.
Once you've worked out how to stop creating new duplicates you can look at the issue of deduping what you already have. See this recent post for some thoughts and a script that may prove useful.

From a room at my hotel that belong to a guest. I request a apple Id and password from the guest in order to track it though iCloud, when I login into the account the MacBook was not their, however I saw other device. A few days has past then the MacBook appear. How does that happened, please explain?

For a stolen Macbook to appear in iCloud - the person who stole it must turn it on.
You can't track something that's turned off.

  • Ipad2, iOS 8.1.2, how do I change the order of songs in my Playlists?

I Have an iPad 2, using iOS 8.1.2. i can't seem to change the order of songs in my Playlists in the Music App. I've clicked on Edit, and tried moving the 3 lines on the right up/down, but when I press Done, the changes have not been affected. Can anyone advise, please? I'm sure I'm missing something!

It sounds like you are doing it correctly. That method works for me in iOS 8.1.2
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iDevice?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Manual tracks progression in playlists

    Hi everybody,
i'm italian so sorry for my english.
The question is: I absolutely need to disable the automatical progression of the tracks in a playlist. I want that at the end of any track the playback stops, and then I want to decide when to restart from the next track.
In winamp this is possible, actually I left windows for mac OS X (10.6), but I really need this option for my work.
Hopefully that i'll read a solution quickly (before sunday... I know it's late!!!), i thank everybody

Remove the check marks beside all the songs in the list. Unchecked songs have to be clicked on individually to play them, checked songs will play one after the other. Hold down the Command key (⌘) and click on the check box beside any song in a list and the check marks will be toggled on or off: iTunes for Mac - Keyboard Shortcuts
