Order of TV episodes backwards

Hi all,
Just bought a mac mini and rigged up to an old G4 monitor (the 21 inch on three legs) with a elgato Eye TV tuner as my media centre. Love it, but have come across a weird quirk with Front Row not listing TV shows in the correct order. I worked out how to make reference movies of avi's and imported these into iTunes to tag and put cover art on the files. But they are listed starting from the last episode in the series and the first episode at the bottom. So technically they are in order but upside down. I tried giving each episode an episode i.d., 1,2,3... even gave them track numbers in order (but I think that only works with music files). I havn't tried putting another series on but have heard that might mix them up even more, series 1 ep 1, series 2 ep 1, series 1 ep 2, series 2 ep 2, etc.. Has anyone found a way around this.

Thanks for that, yep been tearing my hair out for days but realise that's how it is. I could change the order of the episode numbers (number the last episode as 1 etc) but that would be silly and wouldn't make sense. Hopefully a future update will at least give us the option to list them backwards or forwards.

  • Option to manually order the Unplayed Episodes list

I really like the new podcast app. However, when I am listening to podcasts I don't necessarily want to listen from newest episode to oldest episode in the Unplayed Episodes list. I would like the option to manually order this list. This way I can specify the order I want to listen, which is not usually newest to oldest.

At this point it looks like you can order newest to oldest or oldest to newest but thats it.
To change the sort order tap on the podcast in the library window, tap on the podcast header where you set your subscription options, scroll down and below the option for how many episodes to keep is another that allows you to say oldest to newest or newest to oldest for sort order. No manual sort yet but it would be nice.

  • Sort Order of All Unplayed Episodes

The sort order of all unplayed episodes is from Newest to Oldest, which is backwards for me.
Why would I listen to the Newest episode first? It completely breaks any chronology of the podcasts!
I found that you can change this for individual podcasts if you find the details by clicking on the podcast title to open its preferences, but the big list does not have the option.
Please, give me the option to ORDER THE UNPLAYED EPISODES OLDEST AT TOP TO NEWEST AT BOTTOM!
    Thanks, in advance.

This did the trick for me, Harry. Thanks!
I was surprised to see you can/must set this on a podcast-by-podcast basis, but it is hard to argue with having finer control. Oldest to newest seems like a slightly more logical default, but that may just be personal preference.
Not to split off in a new direction, but if I then subscribe to a podcast in Podcasts app that I already subscribe to in iTunes, is it recommended I turn off syncing between iTunes and my iPhone for that podcast? Or will this question basically go away when iOS 6.0 is released?
Do the Podcasts app and the Music/iPod app share podcast files? Or will they be duplicated on my iPhone?
    Tom
The podcasts will duplicate themselves on your device. I turned off podcast syncing on my devices. But the weird thing is that when I sync, podcasts then copy themselves to my iTunes library. Either sync or don't, but don't copy to both.

  • How to - correct episode order within the Remote App

Recently I found that when i was using the Remote App to control my iTunes Library, all my TV Show episodes where in alphabetical order instead of episode number order.
after searching on how to solve this and speaking with Apple Support (who couldn't figure out why this was happening) i couldn't find the answer and noticed that many people were having this same issue and were in the same boat as me.
i managed to solve the issue and wanted to share. sorry if i have posted this in the wrong area, first time giving advise on here.
ill run through this using The Walking Dead - Season 1 as an example, but this can obviously be done with any TV Show.
Even with the correct episode numbers, iTunes displays the episode in the correct order -
but in alphabetical order within your library on the remote app -
in iTunes - highlight all episodes and get info
         2. under the Options Tab, change the Media Kind to Music Video and click OK at the bottom
         3. Then head over to where you Music Videos are stored
         4. select each of the episodes, get info
         5. under the Details Tab, you will now have more options to select
         6. scroll to the bottom of the Details Tab, and within the Album Artist section, type in "The Walking Dead"
         7. in the Disc Number section, you want to add which season of how many seasons there are. example - I have 4 seasons of The Walking Dead within my library, and as this is season 1, i will enter 1 of 4
         8. next, in the Track section, you want to add which episode of how may episodes in that season. example - this is episode 1 of 6 in the season
         9. next go into the Options Tab, and change the Media Kind back to TV Show
         10. click OK at the bottom
         11. once you have done this for each episode, head back into your TV Shows
         12. when you now get info for each of the episodes, the Album Artist, Disc Number and Track sections should be at the bottom of the Details Tab (if they were not there before)
         13. if this has been done correctly - all episodes should be correctly listed within the remote app by episode order
Hopefully this has helped somebody out there!

Gotcha - came up with a workaround... since the photos were living in the Photo Library packaged itself, and not simply in another regular folder, I right clicked on the library and said show packaged content, then search for what folders the files lived in, then copied the files out of the packaged library into a folder. Then I was able to give the Photos Library access to the new folder with the files.
With all my files now references, I enabled iCloud Photo Library and am uploading now.
Hopefully my new local Photo Library will be smart enough to optimize local images and shrink to give me more space.
    Thanks.

  • All my episodes on my ipod touch are out of order, they are in alphabetical instead of episode number. Its really annoying. How do you fix it?

After i upgraded to iOS 6 my ipod touch has been putting all my tv shows episodes in alphabetical order instead of episode number order. I have tried a few things to put it back to normal but they just wont go back into the right order. Its really annoying if i am starting to watch something and then want to go onto the next ep on my ipod and its really annoying having to go through around 20 eps to find the next one.. Its the same on my brothers ipad. Except they dont have the episode numbers on them at all. If anyone has a solution on how to fix this it would be great. I might end up going to apple and asking myself when i get my ipad to show them excatly. If its a bug in the iOS it really needs to be fixed.

Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?

  • Release Date not showing - episodes out of order?

    Hi everyone!
I recently submitted a podcast for work and it was accepted yesterday. During testing, the order of the episodes were right based on the date they were released. However, checking the live version, the released column information is blank and the episodes are all out of order.
From what I understand, it's supposed to get that from the XML. For each item, we have: <pubDate>02 April 2014</pubDate> that did show up when we tested it directly.
    Any thoughts? Thank you!

Sorry, I guess I should have posted that information, haha.

  • TV Show episode order.

    Hi-
How do I change the order of TV episodes? I would like to make them chronological. They are not.
    -Ron.

    Depends what you want.
In a sense tv shows are already in chronological order.
If you view by date, tv shows are listed newest first, the list is compiled by date
If you view by show the shows are listed alphabetically as groups but under the group heading compiled by episode number, some have complained that the list should be reversed so series one, episode one is at the top instead of the bottom, I can see the sense in that, but I can also see the sense in it the way it is if you have 120 episodes of something and are likely to want to watch the latest episodes first.
Of course a date added is always generated when a show is added, so the view by date option does pretty much what it says. The view by show list does indeed list the shows in groups, but if episode numbers are not given to the individual shows the shows will be listed alphabetically within those groups instead of reverse chronological order.
    I hope this helps.

  • Sorting TV shows by Episode number instead of alphabetically.

I have an 80GB classic. I have loaded 3 seasons of the office onto it, and each season is seperated, which is great, but inside of each season the episodes are sorted aphabetically and not in order of the episodes. After I uploaded them I went into the info section and set the season and episode number for each one. Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the same exact problem after a recent iTunes update (10.5.x).  My episodes used to be sorted by episode #, but all of a sudden they were sorting by episode ID.
No problem, I went through and changed the episode ID to match episode #.
This fixed about 75% of my shows, mostly those I ripped from DVD's myself.
What is still screwed up is my iTunes store purchased shows.  I have tried every sorting tab and tag combination I can think of, and they still remain firmly sorted by some unknown factor (it is NOT episode id, # or release date or alphabetically by name even).
The shows appear sorted perfectly in iTunes.  It is only on my iPod classic 120GB that this is showing up.  I have also tried removing and reloading the problem shows on my iPod.
I am thinking of resetting my iPod to factory then reloading my entire library, but what a pain...
    Apple please fix this!!!

  • How can I show all results from my DB in reverse row order?

So if I have three rows in the database, called John, Steve,
Tom, if you usually display all results from a database to a web
page, you will get just this order. I have found order by SQL
syntax, but this orders numerically or alphabetically. How can I
order the table contents backwards so that the rows wil read Tom,
    Steve, John?
    Thanks,

You misunderstood Joe's answer. You don't have to know any of
    that. First
and Last were names Joe chose for the columns holding the
    first and last
name. Since you mentioned first names as your values, he used
    First (his
first name column) to order by.
In order to sort something, you have to know what it is
    you're sorting.
Since you're unwisely using SELECT *, I'll make up column
    names for you.
    SELECT AB, BC, CD, DE
    FROM HCT122
    ORDER BY AB DESC
Now all my records come back in reverse order by column AB.

  • How to get users to start with the first episode?

I checked my stats today and found that the most recent episode of my podcast is the one the has been hit waaay more than any of the others. But I'd really prefer listeners hit the first episode first. Do other podcasters find this? Is it worth re-ordering the dates in the feed to get the fist episode to come up first in the list?
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Actually, you can change the order of items in the RSS feed without changing any of the dates or other info that is within a given item.
Select the episode you want first, cut it and then paste it at the top of the list right after the general feed info. Re-order all your episodes this way (oldest at the top, newest at the bottom). This way, if someone double-clicks the name of your feed episode 1 will be the one they get.
Also, in many podcast lists your episodes are listed in the same order in which you have placed them in your RSS feed
So you just re-arrange the items, but don't change the info in the items.

  • How to make ipod shuffle 4th to play podcast in normal order from old to new ones?

It plays only in crazy reverse order from new to old podcasts. I've looked through bunch of forums but didn't find adequate answers. Stupied Apple, it even doesn't have normal support......

The only way you can control the order of podcast episode playback is to put them on a playlist (in iTunes), in any desired order.  Then, sync that playlist to the shuffle.
On the shuffle, set the power switch to the play-in-order (middle) position.  Use VoiceOver to select that playlist.  The podcast episodes should play in playlist order.  Another advantage of this method is being able to "mix and match" pisodes from different podcasts on one continuous playlist.
You can set up the iPod's Podcasts screen in iTunes to select this playlist under Include Episodes from Playlists, which automatically synca changes you make to the playlist (in iTunes) to the shuffle, the next time the shuffle is connected.

  • What does err=-50 when downloading TV episodes mean?

I have a MacBook Pro w/8 GB RAM running Mac OS 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.5.1. When I have ordered certain TV episodes, I get a err=-50 while downloading which stops the downloading. Unfortunately, numbered errors mean much to programmers but nothing to users. Thank you.

Unfortunately it isn't a very meaningful error in terms of diagnosing the issue.
    http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-31161.html
Error code -50 is a generic code meaning there's some sort of communication difficulty.
There's many computers and connections between you and those movies, and between your network box and where they are on your computer.
You could try a few general things such as rebooting the computer, or trying the download later.   Are these going to an external drive?

  • Production orders without a material

    Hi Guys,
Can anybody explain the scenario where the concept of production orders without materials come into picture.
    Thanks
    Shailesh

    Hi,
In addition to above answers pls find the procedure of creating Production order w/o Material :
1.Creating Production Orders Without a Material
Choose Logistics ® Production ® Shop Floor Control ® Order ® Create ® Without material.
You reach the initial screen Create production order.
    2.Enter the following data:
    the plant
the sales order (you can specify a sales order as a reference.)
the order type (it controls whether an internal or external number range is used.)
if you have selected an order type for which an external number assignment is required then you must also specify an order number in the field Order.
3.You must also specify the following data:
    the responsible MRP controller
    the responsible production scheduler
If you want to create the order with reference to an existing order then the order referenced must also be one without a material.
    4.Choose  Enter.
    The General tab page appears.
    5.Enter the following data:
a Short text for the order
Total quantity: Specify the quantity and the unit of measure.
Order start date or order finish date: Depending on the scheduling type you must specify the order start and/or the order finish date.
Production orders are generally scheduled backwards.
Scheduling type: Use a key to specify how the order is to be scheduled.
Scheduling margin key or float before production, float after production and release period:
The release period, the float before production and the float after production of the order are defined using the scheduling margin key.
If you specify a scheduling margin key the system fills these fields automatically.
If no scheduling margin key has been specified you can specify the float before production, the float after production and the release horizon by specifying the corresponding number of days.
6.You must also specify the following data:
Scrap portion: You can specify the scrap quantity that you expect for this order.
Priority: You can assign the order a priority. This field does not affect order processing.
Long text: To create a long text for the production order choose the Long text tab page.
    7.Choose .
You reach a dialog box where you can specify whether you want to use a reference operation set. If you do not want to use a reference operation set then a standard sequence is automatically generated with an operation.
The system searches for a valid routing (see Routing Selection) and a valid bill of material (see Selecting Bills of Material).
If alternative sequences exist in the selected routing, they can only be copied to the production order if alternative sequences are permitted for the order type in Customizing for Shop Floor Control: Choose Master data ® Order ® Define Order Type-Dependent Parameters.
If you do not want to change the operations or add any components, you can now save the production order. Otherwise, change the data and then save the production order.
    Hope this helps.

  • Presenter 7 - Force Slide Order?

Just started playing around with this. The slide order is a
huge shortcoming and maybe someone has an XML or SWF trick for me?
I want the user to take the slides ONLY in a particular
order, but I want to keep the vavigation pane (on the Left side in
my case). I tried to set the minimum time to 10 seconds and that
LOCKS the slide for 10 seconds. When I have sound done, then it
will match the sound duration and I get that. The problem is that I
can click on ANY slide in the Left navigation pane and thus take
the course out of order. I want to force it to go in sequence.
I have not tried the Next Slide option and there may be other
tricks. Adobe should have had a setting checkbox set like this:
X Slides must be taken in order presented
    X Allow backward movement
There are many other things that I'll post, including a few
crashes, but so far, this is one slick tool that just begs for more
    options.
    Joe C.

The good news is that the sound editing solution noted above
does work. I appreciate your can-do and never say never attitude
because it makes the Message Boards useful.
While your solution does work, it is still a work around to
what should be a single checkbox for the entire presentation. I
have more than several hundred slides to deal with in a project
that spans over 1,000 hours of development time and I DO appreciate
the solution / workaround. But my time will be simplified with the
proper option and this tool is supposed to be a simple way of
getting this done from PpowerPoint, so perhaps Adobe will see the
point where simplicity looks brillient and workarounds are torture.
Note that I did try Select-All and then the Insert Command,
that does not insert the command for all slides. It requires doing
    this for each slide.
There are other problems that I sent to Adobe, including the
Quiz Summaries per Quiestion Group forcing the presentation to stop
dead at the Quiz summary and not continue. I sent them a slew of
small issues and I do believe that they are at least listening and
seeing what I found. If all goes well, that will mean smarter
    software in the future.
The key to Presenter 7 is simplicity and locking out options
that cannot work. Adobe has a good idea here, but the last 10% may
take 50% of the effort to add the polish that locks-out impossible
scenarios (or at least warns about them) and where one click can
replace hundreds of clicks for setup. It is hard to think this way
for some programmers, but the concept is to have the software do
what the person is thinking without the workarounds, hacks or odd
settings that act as workarounds. They are quite close and
reporting the issues to Adobe gives us all a chance to make the
process smoother, faster and more enjoyable.
Thanks for your workaround, it is a "punt" strategy for me
now and I think that Adobe may find a way to do this with one
    checkbox.
    Joe C.
