  • Can you use a Mac Apps gift card to purchase products from the Apple store online?

I was just wondering if you can use that $100 back to school gift card to purchase something from the apple store. (for example: the headphones)
    Thanks~

No, Apple Online Store is a different family from the MAS. You can use it on the iTunes Store though.

If you tried to restore to your iCloud backup and your photos didn't fully restore, first go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and make sure it isn't still in the process of restoring.
If the restore is complete and all your photos weren't restored, all you can do is try restoring the backup again.  You might try the solution posted by ezjules in this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19518589#19518589.  This involves opening the photos app after the phone restarts and you provide the passwords for your Apple IDs, then leaving it open for the remainder of the restore process.

  • I bought a new Mac Pro from an Apple store, it was sold as factory sealed, but it's reconditioned - it has some strangers entire photo, library from 2003 to 2011 in the trash bin.

. I bought a new Mac Pro from an Apple store 2 days ok, it was sold as factory sealed, but it's reconditioned - it has some strangers entire photo, library from 2003 to 2011 in the trash bin.
I was bought a Mac book pro as a birthday gift from the Apple Store in Leicester, after completing the initial set up procedure, I noticed that  the trash bin was full of some one's entire photo collection from 2003 to 2011.
This is entirely unacceptable for Apple: How long have Apple been fobbing of consumers who believe they were genuinely purchasing a 'new' Mac book?
How is it that I have someones entire photo collection on my 'branch new Mac Book Pro' - these photos included wedding photo's, birthday celebrations, family celebrations and children. Its a serious breach of data protection, it's an invasion of some poor persons privacy and private photo collection. What concerns me the most, is what could have happened if those photo's had fallen into the wrong hands. We managed to trace, locate and contact the person who the photo's belong to within 10 mins using information taken from their wedding album.
Understandably these people are also very distressed that their personal photos are on my brand new Mac Book pro.
I would like details of who to contact in regards this incident.

  • If I preorder an iPhone 5 will it arrive at my house on the 21st or is that when it'll ship? I would like to have it the day it comes out so if it would be faster to order it online and then pick it up from the apple store, let me know! Thanks

My experience is with the iPhone 4S and the "new" iPad, both of which I ordered early on the opening pre-order day. In both cases the wording from Apple during the media event was "pre-orders will start on ABC date for delivery on XYZ date" which was also the same day they were to go on sale in stores.  In both cases, the UPS truck rolled up earlier than usual XYZ date as promised to hand me my new iPhone/iPad. In both cases there were instances of confusion due to some pre-order confirmations stating incorrectly "SCHEDULED SHIPPING DATE: XYZ".  In both cases that caused much fear, panick, and trepidation that fed upon itself as it permeated a widely scattered forum linked community of "adults" that seem to collectively revert to a state of childish impatience and ultimately child-like glee as they obsessively refresh their dedicated tracking browser window; become convinced that there is no hope of escaping the dread delayed shippment, and then finally receive their new toy exactly when they were supposed to.  Not that I personally would ever succumb to that of course.  Er uhm ... it's just what I've seen you know .. nothing I can really relate to.

  • I have an iMac 8.1, OSX 10.6.8 with XP running in Boot Camp partition. My USB keyboard (MB110LL/A) was damaged by water. I ordered a new keyboard from the Apple Store. I was sent model MB110LL/B. Special function keys will not work in XP. Any Ideas?

I have an iMac 8.1, OSX 10.6.8, Boot Camp 3.2 running Windows XP. My original keyboard (MB110LL/A) was damaged by a water spill. I ordered a new one from the Apple Store. They sent me MB110LL/B, function keys need updated drivers (Boot Camp 3.3) which will only install if Windows 7 is installed. I have a large amount of older software that runs under XP but not Windows 7. The Apple support team basically said "too bad". If they replace a keboard model with a new model, they should at least make it backwards compatable or provide a Boot Camp update that will allow this model to work on older iMacs. Reloading Bootcamp 3.3 several times has no effect because it does not detect Windows 7. Any Ideas or help would be appreciated.

It is free. It is beta. It works well - I use it on mine and two PCs as well...
MS Security Essentials will no longer install due to compatibiliity issues - that is the idea of a beta - and the RC could be out in June.
Windows 7 doesn't work great on any Mac, or Apple drivers, fan cvontrol to manage heat, and other issues.
Put 8 in and get to know it, then when the RC comes out you'll be ready

  • Pre-order Apple Watch to pick up from US Apple Store during visit, as a UK resident?

I live in the UK, and will be visiting the US for a week at the end of April. Will it be possible for me to pre-order Apple Watch and collect it from an Apple store in the US during my visit, even though I live outside the US? Paying for my purchase won't be a problem, but is there any other reason that I won't be allowed to pre-order one, eg because my residential address (usually shipping address, except that's not hugely relevant for an in-store pickup...) is in the UK?
    Thanks,
    David
(Posting to the 'Using Apple Pay in Stores' community because it's the closest fit I could find to the topic of my question - I know it's not really on-topic, but there doesn't seem to be a retail store community!)

I suggest you telephone the specific Apple Store you plan to visit and ask them.  Here is the list of stores and telephone numbers.  (Choose the U.S. region.)  We are Apple users here.

  • Ordering iPod from US apple store and delivering to US?

I'm in Singapore and wondering if it's possible to order and iPod touch from US apple store and deliver it to an US address.

Only if the payment method is also associated with the USA. Like the credit card billing address.

  • Why does apple allow apps in the App Store hijack your Internet when certain websites? Why doesn't apple remove their products from the App Store?.

Why does apple allow apps in the App Store hijack your Internet when certain websites? Why doesn't apple remove their products from the App Store?.

Apple saw it as their responsibility since the redirection took me to the App Store. They assisted me in stopping the redirection which is occurring on many peoples iPhones. It's a have java script problem that adking is using to get you to buy their games. The websites work normal and then all of the sudden the website is taken over by adking.com.  You can no longer use the website as it immediately takes you to the App Store without ever showing a popup to cancel the redirection. They were very helpful fixing the problem should others experiencing this specifically with adking.com.
No need to get defensive. I'm not the only one experiencing the problem Apple said.

  • What will the shipping package look like for an IPad I ordered online from the Apple Store?  The reason I'm curious is because it's going to be a gift.

I'm curious as to what kind of packaging a gift I ordered online from the Apple store will come in.  It's going to be an IPad, and I don't want it to be too obvious what the item is, just in case the recipient sees the package.  I'm hoping it's in a brown cardboard box.

Mine shipped in a standard brown box. Inside was the white Apple retail packaging for the iPad.

  • Can I customise a macbook pro if I order it from an apple store but not the online store?

I would be coming to Melbourne. I plan to buy a macbook pro with the retina display there. However I would need to customise it ( I plan to add some extra RAM and upgrade the processor). Ordering from the online store would be a bit inconvenient since I wont have a permanent address for a few days and I would need a laptop pretty soon. Will I be able to buy a customised one from an apple store itself? I dont mind waiting for a day or two actually.

It may depend on the Apple Store, but I do not think they do that. Anyway, I recommend you to call to the Apple Store and ask them about this option > http://www.apple.com/au/retail/storelist
Also, note that some Apple Stores already sell build-to-order Macs with customized hardware, so see if one of them has got the hardware you need

  • Prices of recent products that arn't available anymore from the apple store

    hi,
I am looking for the prices of the older imac configurations that are not available anymore from the apple store
    can anyone help me?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Since you say iMac, this might be more appropriate over on the iMac forum.
However, what do you mean by prices of older configurations no longer available through the Apple store? What vintage are you asking about? Do you mean purchase of components or complete systems? Finally, have you looked at eBay or similar lists to see what people have for sale? There are often new unused or virtually unused items on those lists and you can get an idea of the value, or what people are willing to pay.

Are you trying to print from iPhoto on your Mac or iPad/iPhone? If you are trying to print form yor Mac, check, if the Print Products Store in the iPhoto Preferences > Advanced is set to U.K.
Also the bimmling address, Delivery address, the country for your AppleID and Credit Card must all be in the same country. Check this document:

  • How can I unlock my UK phone for AUS use when sourced from UK Apple Store (so without service provider to do it for me)?

So my Aus iPhone that I had unlocked to do a bit of travelling went for a swim in the Med- my service provider back home informed me that in order to claim on insurance internationally that I should get a new one from an Apple Store and send them the bill etc etc. I did that, and all was fine with the rest of my trip on a prepaid UK sim.  Now I am home and want to put my AUS sim in (where I am under postpaid contract) but my iPhone is not recognising it, with an error message of 'Invalid Sim'.  My service provider cannot help as the product was sourced from Apple originally and not them. Can someone let me know how this can be fixed?

Okay, so if you purchased your iPhone from an Apple store in the UK then it is fully unlocked.  Apple in the UK sell fully and officially unlocked iPhones, so you should not have a problem with inserting any sim card into your phone.  The phone will be unlocked as long as you purchased the phone in the UK for the full purchase price and not as sim free rather than unlocked.
Have a word with your provider, as there could possibly be a problem with your sim card.  Get a new sim card and try that.  There is no reason why this should not work on an unlocked iPhone.

  • How can I purchase products from the app store while travelling outside my country of residence?

How can I purchase products from the app store while travelling outside my country of residence? We are from Canada, travelling in the USA and wish to buy a TV series but get a message to buy it from the Canadian store. When we tried to do this we got the same message.

According to the terms of sale, you have to be in your country of residence in order to make a purchase. I've heard of people able to make purchases outside their country and also of people being unable to do so. It appears that Apple's enforcement is not 100%.
In order to buy from the U.S. iTunes Store, you would need to have a valid billing address in the U.S., a credit card billed to that address or an iTunes Gift card purchased in the U.S. and be physically present in the U.S. at the time of purchase.
International copyright law is currently very inconvenient for the consumer.
    Best of luck.
