  • Wrong part number for WT7-C16 Encore Mini? Can't order recovery media

I tried to order Recovery Media for my Encore Mini. (I wasn't able to find a USB adaptor to create my own.) I put my serial number in and then it asks for the last 4 digits of my part number. Unfortunately, it gives me PDW0EU-001, which leaves only the last three digits of the part number, 001. I tried the 3 digits and that didn't work, 4 digits didn't work (1001). That means I can't order recovery media. I tried phoning US support and it told me to order from the website. I'm stuck. Now, after my Mini tried to update to Windows 10, I can't restore the old OS, nor will it allow me to do a factory rest. Unless I get any joy, my Mini is a brick. (Someone has also mentioned elsewhere that there isn't recovery media for this product.) Any suggestions?

    Thank you, Jerry.
Stephen, can you send me a private message with your serial number? Click my name to view my profile and then click the link at the right to send me a PM.
I'll look into it for you.

  • Making recovery media in DVD

I was trying to make recovery media. It is asking for USB flash drive of 32GB. How to make recovery media in DVDs? Please response ASAP

Sometimes there are unforeseen problems. However, if you've sent it in for repairs, it sounds like they are fixing it.

  • Recovery Media Creation to USB fails: "CD Creator has stopped working"

Bought new HP desktop system this week. Came with Windows 8, upgraded to 8.1 and then tried to create recovery media onto a USB stick.  Followed all the steps in the HP Support article (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03481733) but at point 9 the copying files stage doesn't complete (progress never gets off 0%) and instead a pop up error message appears saying "CD Creator has stopped working".  The only option is to cancel. What should I do next?

Harvec, welcome to the forum. When requesting help you should always include the make/model of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them. I believe that you should have made the System Recovery Discs before updating to Win 8.1.  The Discs are made using the OS that came on the computer when it is new.  The only thing that you can do at this point is order the Discs from HP.

  • Can I copy HP Recovery Media to another USB flash drive?

Hi. Just a couple questions please: 1. When I make the one time only "HP Recovery Media" to a USB pen drive, can I then "copy" and "paste" to another USB flash drive as long as the 2nd flash drive has enough capacity? The Recovery will still work right?I ask this in case I need to change to another USB flash drive and I am aware that I can only have one copy of the HP Recovery. 2. If that is the case, I then can also make a backup to an external Western Digital drive so that in case of malfunction of the USB flash drive I can always transfer the files to another USB flash drive? Thanks in advance for the reply. Best regards.

Hi, Copy and paste won't work. Please try the following method:    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/This-is-how-to-make-a-2nd-set-of-recovery-disks/td-p/1694703 Regards.

  • Ordering Recovery media from Europe, for US model.

I brought a second-hand Satellite from US while on a business trip but I live in Europe. HDD crashed now I need to order recovery media because it has none. The problem is that the US site only accepts an American address (shipping and billing both) and the European Toshiba Recovery media ordering site doesn't accept my Satellite because it's foreign. What would you do?

    You are welcome.
It appears that you will not be able to order the Recovery Discs.  Therefore, you will have to buy a full copy of the OS.
In the future, you should make certain to create the Recovery Discs when the computer is new.  This will save you many problems.  I made the same mistake myself.  It is not a good feeling when you don't have the discs.

  • Ordering Recovery Media

Hello about a month ago Vista crashed on my laptop model: A305-S6872 I looked for a recovery partition but it wasn't there I also looked in the box but I guess BestBuy must have forgot to put the disc back in after Geeksquad "Optimized" it its been a year since I bought it so not like I can go back to the store. I read some of the post and it sounds like Toshiba charges for the disc my question is:
Do they need a credit card? Because this is not an option for me.
    Thanks For Responding.

Nope, you guys aren't going crazy.
I got the same problem early Sunday (4/5) morning (approx 2 am EST), Monday (4/6) morning (730 am EST) and Monday at noon. After the second incident, at 8 am EST (when their call center opens), I called Toshiba Support to order the media over the phone. "Maria" took my information and then she ran into the same problem herself (apparently their tech support uses the same web page as we, the consumer). She said she would call me back when the issue was resolved; it's been about four hours now.
Wish they'd hurry up on this, I have a client who's itching to get his laptop back.

  • T410s to 64bit (4GB ram) - Order recovery media or custom installation?

    Hello.
I just bought a T410s with 4GB but as it came with 32bit Windows 7 Pro, I can only use 3GB.I need the whole amount of memory so I need to upgrade to 64 bits.
The main question .Is the cost logical to go for a recovery media through Lenovo Support centre or should I go the custom installation path? If anyone knows in european prices the approx. cost I would be thankful.
    Thank you.

Since you already have a Windows 7 Pro product key, you can legally download a 64-bit Windows 7 Pro ISO from Microsoft and give it your Windows 7 key found on the machine's underside. However, non-Lenovo installs don't have Enhanced Experience, so that'll be a point of consideration.
Drivers are easy; you simply download the ThinkVantage System Update tool and it can download and install all of the necessary drivers in one simple procedure.

  • Unable to order Recovery Media

I own and run a computer repair business in West Union SC, and I was trying to order recovery CD's for a couple notebooks for customers of mine. The order process stalled on my business's shipping address: it said "Primary address range is invalid." But the McDonald's across the street had a street number one greater than mine, and it took that. Also, the USPS, UPS, and FedEx all have delivered here, no problems.
When I called customer service, they told me they could not manually override anything. After I entered the order with the closest address which would let me proceed, I tried to call customer service to get them to change the shipping address back to MY street number. They refused. Then when in frustration I told them to cancel the order, they refused that too. (I am currently pursuing a complaint through my bank card to dispute this charge.)
This was all done through their acclaim.toshiba.com website, and it was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. They would not let me talk to anybody but "case managers" who were uncooperative and whose supervisors were simply unavailable to speak to.
Instead, I have found the same CD's through a 3rd party website (restoredisks.com) and for $10 cheaper, free shipping.
Guess what I am going to be advising my hundreds of customers when it comes to their laptop buying decisions.

And... THEY accepted our address, no problem! Think I will be buying anything from Toshiba from now on? No.

  • Ordered recovery media days ago. Status is stuck at "ACCEPTED"

Given that I am paying $25 for a small, light-weight disk to be shipped, I assume the shipping would be fast. However since I ordered it on Wednesday the status has been stuck at "ACCEPTED: Your order was accepted by the order fulfillment system." I didn't think that it would take several days before shipping happened. When can I expect my disk? My recovery partition is gone, before anyone chimes in about it.
    Thanks

The FSM Status in UCSM says "Success."  As I stated above it was registered fine and working fine for several weeks.
Now however the inventory in UCS Cental and in UCSM are out of sync.  Since it isn't seeing some new blades that were installed we can't add them to a sever pool or associate Global Service Profiles.
UCS Central shows the Last Refresh as several days ago (the screen grab in the orginal post.)  I believe it should be updating inventory every 10 minutes.  I have tried to manually refresh the UCS domain in UCS Central CLI with the "refresh-inventory" command with no luck.  I have also Suspended and Acknoledeged the UCS domain with no change.

  • System won't boot to USB Recovery Media

I have a Satellite P55-A5312 with pre-installed Windows 8 (upgraded to 8.1), Intel i5 processor and 6GB Ram.  I created a set of DVD recovery media and a USB Flash (Toshiba brand 32GB) recovery drive.  I set the boot order in BIOS to USB, then DVD, then HDD.  Secure Boot is enabled.
Question I have is, how can I verify that the reovery media will boot if needed?  If I power on the laptop, neither the DVD nor USB will boot and it goes directly to Windows, which kind of makes sense.  If I then restart, the DVD recovery media will in fact boot, but the USB recovery media won't boot.  Even if I restart with F12 and choose USB as the boot device, the USB media will not boot.  The only way I can get the USB recovery media to boot is if I disable Secure Boot.
I find it hard to believe that USB recovery media will only work if Secure Boot is disabled.  What am I doing wrong?

  • How to create Recovery media as USB

Hi, Toshiba support told me to buy new recovery media from www.backupmedia.toshiba.eu for my Satellite t110.
I ordered the recovery media but it's on CD/DVD! This model doesn't have a CD/DVD drive..
Please let me know how I can create this recovery media on a USB stick. Please note that I don't have any of the Toshiba utilities on my T110.
Simple instructions please - I'm new at this.
    Thanks
    Phil

I used 4 DVD-R discs. They were on sale - 25 DYNEX discs for $7.
Go to: start/all programs/my toshiba/toshiba recovery media creator
    Insert your 1st disc.
Select create and follow the prompts.
Label your discs with a disc marker - recovery disc 1,  recovery disc 2, etc. or whatever you'll remember.
store them into individual envelopes or shells and put them in a safe place.
BTW: If your hd "crashes" you'll need a new hd.
