Order that Songs on Ipod are Played

Confused here...What order does the Ipod play the songs in?? I would think it would be in the same order they appear on Itunes....
Also, is there a way to change the order? I tried dragging but that doesn't work
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Chip

Hello, Chip
If you have the shuffle set to play in order, then it should play the songs in the order they're shown in the shuffle's playlist (the playlist that's displayed when you select the shuffle's icon in the source, when the shuffle is attached to the computer).
"Also, is there a way to change the order?"
A couple. Click the title bar at the top of a column to sort by that column, or just drag the songs into a new position. In either event, you'll need to let the shuffle update.
"I tried dragging but that doesn't work"
Sometimes the status of iTunes shuffle function for this playlist can interfere. (Despite the name, it hasn't got anything to do with the operation of the iPod shuffle, it just reorders the songs in an iTunes playlist.) If this shuffle is On, I haven't been able to manually rearrange the songs; if it's Off, I can. Try toggling it using the icon in the lower left corner of iTunes.
Good luck

  • Make my Mac recognize which song my iPod is playing

If I'm playing a song on my iPod Touch, how do I make my Mac recognize which song my iPod Touch is currently playing? I know that the two devices are able to communicate via WiFi, since that's what Remote.app uses to communicate between the two, so it shouldn't be too far of a reach to make my Mac recognize which song my iPod is playing, right? Is this possible with any existing applications?

You are asking for something that doesn't exist. Remote is pretty much one-way - your iPod controls what is on your Mac iTunes.

  • Sales orders that have been invoiced are still in the Billing due list

    Friends :
We have  sales orders that have been invoiced are still in the Billing due list. When i look at sales orders it has 0.00 price.
    The error message is
Billing not possible because repair is not yet completed
The item is not relevant for billing
The item has been fully invoiced already
    Full pints will be given.

    Hello,
I believe these are repair orders, and invoices through order related billing. Check the incompletion log in the order, check whether the repair is complete. Go to the order VA02 --> Order ---> Environment --> Status. You may know the over all status of the document. Check for the billing status, if the billing status is not invoiced, then you need to generate invoice or Reject the line item.

  • Anyone knows how 2 change the order of songs in ipod?????????need lots help

i tried going on my computer then on (f:)(usb drive for ipod nano) and it only shoes me my calander, notes and contacts.
oh and there is nothing i could see in itunes7.
    plz help

First of all, if you are trying to drag songs from one position to another, that can only be done in a playlist. You can't do that in the iTunes Library, all you can do in there is re-order the songs by clicking at the top of any column. If the songs are in a playlist open iTunes then click on the playlist. Click on the number column (extreme left). Click on the song you want to move and drag it to where you want it to be. Right click on the playlist name and select "Copy to play order". Connect your iPod, if you are updating automatically it will pick up the change. If you are updating manually then you connect first and when the iPod appears in the source list carry out the process above directly in the playlist on your iPod. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, that can prevent you reordering tracks.

  • Songs on iPod are grayed out and purchases in iTunes are missing

So my mom's having some trouble with iTunes-
When her 7th gen Nano is plugged into iTunes all of the songs on it are grayed out and unplayable.  There are no icons or such that suggest that there is a problem.
She has 559 songs on her iPod that she purchased and downloaded with the same Apple ID that she still uses today, however iTunes says that she only purchased 179.
This problem must have started when the computer she uses was wiped and had Windows 7 re-installed, but this shouldn't affect the data associated with her Apple ID?
Is there anyway that the songs on her iPod can be transferred to her library?  (after they're somehow ungrayed)
Any little bit of help is appreciated

With manual transfer you drag the songs from your iTunes to the iPod. That's how manual works and has nothing to do with songs being "check marked".
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See this.

  • Ipod downloaded song, but ipod wont play it

Please help, i downloaded songs on to my daughters ipod, but now they wont play. Other songs downloaded will play, but not the few she really loves. I also noticed that the
album covers dont match the song on the screen.... can anyone help me???

I would try and reset your daughters iPod (http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/). If that doesn't work, then you might want to use the Restore function in iTunes. Also, you will want to make sure you are using the newest version of iTunes. To check to see if you have the newest version, click Help in iTunes, then scroll down to 'Check For Updates'. If you have already tried all of these, or are not having any luck, please reply back to this post. Good luck

  • Songs on iPod are screwy.

I recently bought a CD and put the songs onto my computer. From my computer I put the songs onto my iPod. In iTunes the songs play fine, when I listen to them on my iPod one of the songs cuts off in the middle and another song has static at the beginning of it. I tried deleting the files off of my iPod and putting them back on but it's still the same.
    -Thanks.
PS: All of the music files are MP3s if that helps.
EDIT: I deleted the files from my iPod again and put them back onto it. And this time the song that cut off in the middle will play all the way, but it gets static in a bunch of parts after where it used to cut off.
REDIT: I deleted that one song off of my iPod and put it back on. Now it cuts off again. What?

Try converting the tracks to AAC in iTunes and then putting them on your iPod to see if that helps. Also make sure that it is only the songs from that CD that you are having trouble with. If not, then you may want to go through the "5 R's" to eliminate any of that being the problem.

  • Order of songs on Ipod different than in Itunes

I have my itunes to sort my songs by "Date Added" so the most recent songs show up at the top of the playlists. However, when I synced it to my new nano 5th gen, the songs are alphabetically listed on the ipod. How can I fix this? I haven't had this problem with any of my other nanos or iphone.

@CMCSK - There are known playlist bugs on the 5G (and, it appears, on the 6G). They are NOT fixed by the usual mantra of reset, restore, reinstall, re-whatever. They are bugs that were not present in the iPod classic or iPod Nano 2G and Apple either can't or refuses to fix them. Here are a few threads where they are discussed:

  • None of the songs I purchased are playing

Hey all ... ever since downloading 7.6, I can not play any of my purchased songs on iTunes and I can not hear any sample songs from the store. Does anyone else have this problem? Do you think it might just be a 7.6 glitch that'll eventually be fixed.
    Thanks ...

    Hello jaggerseyes
I would check the purchase history to see the purchases. If you have any further questions about it, there is another article that will assist with getting back those purchases resolved.
On a computer with iTunes installed, click purchase history to have iTunes open and display your purchase history. You will be prompted for your Apple ID and password.

Itunes unexpectedly quits whenever i am listening to a song and then i rate it, i havent tried everything, but it also quits when i tried to edit the artist of a song while playing it. also, everytime i open itunes it goes to a certain playlist. how can i make it stop doing that, or change it to automatically open with the playlist of my choice?

I tried deleting them and redownloading them but its not working.
Try deleting and redownloading again, this time with simultaneous downloads disabled.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked.

  • Songs repeating - or not playing in order

I noticed on first play of a downloaded album that even with the 'Repeat' facility not selected, the first song played through,, and at the end repeated. I forwarded on to the next track and the same thing happened. On another track, the song didn't even get to the end before it jumped back to repeat itself. The album was Led Zeppelins 'The Song Remains The Same'. I have not noticed this behaviour on any other albums.
Another issue is that songs do not always play in order - even with the Shuffle facility not selected. This is particularly noticable on 'live' albums.
Is this a bug or poorly managed markers in the music conversion?

I was having the same problem with all my tracks on my Touch repeating, and I could not locate the repeat feature on the Touch. I found on another string the answer for where to find the repeat and shuffle controls on page 59 on the user manual:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPod_touch_iOS4_UserGuide.pdf
It solveed my problem. Hope it helps with yours.

  • Certain iTunes Music Store songs cause iPod Shuffle to crash

Are people still having problems with certain songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store causing their iPod Shuffle to crash? I am!
The following threads deal with it, but they are now closed to posts:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=881126

The 3 songs I am having problems with are off Enya's Amarantine album (12 songs+3 videos):
    Long Long Journey
    Someone Said Goodbye
    Water Shows the Hidden Heart
(these 3 songs are not the videos on the album)
Is anybody else having problems with these songs, or others? iTunes Music Store support have not been able to resolve this issue for me yet.

Okay, I returned one of the shuffles, the one they sent as a replacement, and kept the original. I was told that they particular person I spoke with was not able to completely refund my money for the original shuffle. Perhaps if I had taken this farther, I would have gotten a full refund since there is obviously a defect with the product in the current state. I settled on keeping the shuffle, hoping that there might be a software update in the future to fix the problem, in addition to accepting a RAM upgrade to my Mac Mini for my trouble. I am satisfield but I think there is a bigger problem here thet needs to be addressed or Apple might find themselves with another unattractive class action lawsuit. It seems obvious that the shuffle is sensitive to the way certain songs are encoded that does not pose a problem for other iPods. This makes sense since the shuffle isn't even capable of playing the same abundance of codecs that the other iPods can play. I think the decoder used in the Shuffle or the software used has a problem that needs to be addressed.
I did take the three problem songs from the Enya album and burned them to CD and then ripped them back with the word "copy" at the end so they would not conflict with the original purchased songs. It worked perfectly! I'll keep any originals around to test as software updates become available in the future and if the problem gets fixed, I can just dump the ripped copies.
Hope you all work your problems out to your satisfaction, they were quite friendly about the whole thing.

  • Scrolling choppy and slow while ipod is playing

Hi i just purchased a 30GB iPod. I have noticed that while the iPod is playing music any scrolling that i do thru either my artists, songs or albums seems to be choppy and somewhat slower. I also noticed that while adjusting volume as it's playing seems to be choppy. I didn't observe any issues while the ipod is not playing.
I am a proud owner of 3rd and 4th generation iPods and never experianced this kind of 'hold up'. Perhaps this is normal in the 5th generation iPod.
Please help me understand if this is normal function in my brand new iPod.

Do have album art displayed on you iPod? I had this problem and once I removed the album art everything worked fine.
