Orderd Yoga 12 today, Worried about screen ghosting

I just orderd a new ThinkPad S1 Yoga for $698.70 from lenovo website, I am outside US and I am worried about screen ghosting problems, What the odds I will get a defective screen or does it completly solved?
If not, whom do I can contact(email) to cancel my order before it ships? I couldn't find that on their support page

  • DLP TVs - That don't 'worry' about screen burn?

One of the advantages of going for a DLP tv is that screen burn is NOT an issue.
I am sure I am not the only owner of a dlp that would LIKE to have an image PARKED on the screen - like a painting - changing every couple of hours - With apple TV , my PVR cable box, dvd player etc, it is near impossible to do this BECAUSE of the worry of screen burn on crt, lcd and plasma sets -
Apple? Please give us DLP owners the option to set the picture change rate longer than YOUR maximum change time.

    mnm,
Begin by putting your records in this format:
The first three columns are your input data. The last two columns are calculated for the purpose of the chart.
    The Begin Yrs expression is:
    =DATEDIF("1/1/58",B2,"D")÷365.25+1958
    The Dur Yrs expression is:
    =DATEDIF("1/1/58",C2,"D")÷365.25
These two columns may be hidden after you create the chart.
Holding down the Command Key, click on the column labels for columns A, D and E.
    Insert > Chart > 2D Stacked Bar
    Adjust the chart parameters:
The way this works is that you first decide on a base date. Then calculate the time in years from the base date to the begin date for each show. Then you calculate the duration in Years for each show. In the Stacked Bar, the first bar is the start date duration, formatted as transparent. The second segment is the duration of the show, formatted as a solid color.
Your result should look something like this:
I'd be happy to fill in details for you if you favor this approach.

What exactly are you seeing on the phone's screen ? If the iTunes icon and cable then the phone is in recovery mode, in which case it's too late to take a new backup or to copy any content off the phone - you will have to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and reset it back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to the last backup that you took or just resync your content to it

Don't worry, this is probably just Verbose Mode. It's perfectly harmless.  If you're not specifically invoking it, than it's probably down to an unwanted setting in NVRAM.  See this article on resetting NVRAM if it continues to bother you.

    Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds.  Ignore the swipe to turn off message.

It had a moshi cover on when it fell but it fell on the side of the screen so just worried about the microphone or the front camera. Someone please reply if i should go to Apple and give the phone for a hardware check.

The only choice you have is accept it as it is or pay for a replacement

Does that happen on iMac's? Thx!

Try a hard reset. ( holding Power til it restarts)
Once to your desktop. Click the Apple icon >> About this mac >> More info>> Storage
Once you see what you have the most of. Try to see what you can delete.
Open up any folder>>all files>> or buy an external to store more data.
Once deleting make sure you empty your trash.
If you are new and its a new computer, you might need to bring it to a store for further assistence.

  • Getting worried about recent Macbook core 2 duo purchase

I'm looking online, and it seems like there's a TON of defects to be found in the new 13 inch macbooks. I just bought a new Core 2 Duo Macbook in Black a few days ago, and I'm beginning to get worried about my purchase. Have they fixed the majority of the defects with the release of the core 2 duo versions? Or do you think it would be wiser to return it and wait till they release the next macbook? I haven't had any issues with mine yet...but considering the amount of bad press the new macbooks have been getting, i'm begining to think it might be wise to return it while i still can. Any thoughts?

Well ask yourself this question: Do you have any of these problems with your MB?. As has been pointed out, this is a forum for those who do have problems. It is unwise to use the forums to "hunt" for things to worry about. Here is the thing: certain computers may be prone to certain issues, of that there is no doubt. But, that does not mean that every one of those computers has that particular problem. It just means that the few that do have problems are more likely to experience that particular problem. If you look at the total number of complaints about a particular "issue" and compare that to the number of machines sold, you will see that it is a very small percentage. I just bought my daughter a new MB to replace her aging G3 iBook and I have to say that the overall build quality is vastly better. The "feel" is much more solid, keyboard is much nicer, screen blows away the "old" iBook and, needless to say, it's waaaaay faster. So the bottom line is: If your computer is working as it should, why can't you not simply enjoy it and stop worrying about problems you don't have.
PS No insult intended but I would guess that at least 90% of the problems posted on this forum are the result of user error, conflicts with 3rd party hardware, software or drivers or a simple lack of knowledge about either the hardware or the OS.

  • What do I need to worry about when running a VI for an extended amount of time?

Hi, I'm fairly new to LabVIEW as a program, but not new to programming as a whole.
I'm attempting to build a VI which will, hopefully, be run continuously and take data for weeks-months at a time.
I've never built a VI, let alone a program, which will be run continuously for so long, and so I'm unsure as to what I should be concerned about. I'm looking right now at optimizing, as best I can, memory allocation, algorithms, etc. but I suppose my main question is: What should I really be worrying about when programming a VI which will be run continuously for an extended period of time?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In the structure of your VI's, be certain that you are not repetively creating things such as references to queues, or file references, or DAQ tasks, or anything without closing them.  I was working on one application where a DAQ task was getting created every loop iteration and not being closed.  It crashed the PC hard with a blue screen of death after about 20 minutes of operation, through debugging and before I found the cause, I saw I had about 80,000 to 100,000 iterations of a loop fairly consistently before the crash.
If this loop had run at a slower rate, it might have taken days or weeks before the PC would have crashed.  It would have seemed infrequent and would have taken longer to debug because I would never have seent the pattern.  If it takes a few failures before you discover the problem, it is a lot quicker to find the explanation after a few failures at 20 minutes per failure as opposed to 20 days per failure.  The problem was eventually found in a subVI several layers down and fixed.
So if you pay attention to these things early enough, then hopefully they won't pop up and bite you weeks or months into a critical run of the program.

  • Iphone 5 black, do i have to worry about scratches?

am gonna get an iphone 5 black from someone soon and unfortunately i have no control over the color choice. i wanted white but i am gonna get a black piece.
i often come across blogs on the internet saying the iphone 5 black gets scratched a lot! i dont wanna put an ugly case of a sctarch guard on my iphone's back. the scratch guards tend to reflect the flash's light when taking pics with flash on, which over exposes the pictures.
so anyway, i called up apple care guys and they said the problem of scratches is solved.
can i just use my iphone 5 without haivng to worry about its beautiful aluminum back getting scratched?
    Neerav

    Hi Julian,
You make me look stupid! Lol. Obviously I know that putting it through the extremities would cause damange but I am talking about general use. Last thing I want to know if there is a scratch on it because of the ring I wear!
What I have heard is of the black one being extremely sensitive. Today, a guy from a nearby apple service center asked me to get a bumper cause, he said, the side aluminium gets bent if u accidently drop the iphone 5.
i have dropped my iphone 3g and 4 several times but this was never an issue. so was just asking about 'general use'. thanks anyway for ur reply.

  • Dump Analysis: High ITAB-name-numbers - s.th. to worry about?

    Hi Folks,
I'm currently involved with a project implementing SAP CRM-Service and while analysing some dumps for error TSV_TNEW_OCCURS_NO_ROLL_MEMORY I noticed that the number of lines in the internal tables wasn't all that high but that the internally assigned numbers for the itab-names where a lot higher than anything I have seen so far. I'm therefore now wondering if this is something to worry about or if this "normal" for a CRM-Service system.

I'm used to seeing eg. IT_123 but not these 9 digits long numbers. As the routine this abended in is called from one of our custom-programs I'm just a bit concerned that some internal tables might not be properly cleared/refreshed/freed after usage.
Thanks for any feedback you have!

P.S.: I'm sorry for not participating more in the forums but work just keeps interfering!

    Hi Samuel,
    thanks for your quick reply!
To answer your question, I_IBINWA_REC is just a workarea not an internal table. And all the tables I see in the dump-information don't have many entries, they seem all to be in the 1 or at most 2-digit range. This low number of entries compared to the high number of itab-names is what actually had me worried. Something has to be filling up the available memory and I'd like to pinpoint what it is.
It is possible that the program got squeezed from all sides as it abended during conversion activity with lots of activity in the system.
I am glad to read, though, that these high itab-numbers are seen elsewhere as well!
    Cheers

The imac 24 can't be used as a monitor over a DVI connection or the like, Suzanne, but you may be able to achieve what you want to using "Screen Sharing" by networking the two computers. This lets your MBP effectively control what is running on the iMac.
See HERE for the basic setup. For information about how to access the "shareable" screen from the MBP see HERE.
One possible problem may be actually getting this set-up on the iMac if it is not already enabled, however, unless you can borrow a keyboard from someone (your password may have to be entered to enable it). You may be able to get around this, if necessary, using the "keyboard viewer" (which you can place in the menubar using System preferences > Keyboard, if you don't already have it there).

  • Worrying about iMac with Logic Pro. (i mean big fan noise)

    hi.
i am thinking about buying a new iMac with Apogee Ensemble. but i am a bit worried about the fan noise from imac when i use lots of plug-ins and etc.
well... the best way is to buy a Mac Pro and stash the machine in a machine room or a cabinet or something. but the budget is low here.
does anyone have any good ideas? do i have to take the fan noises? or is it really so powerful so that makes no such big fan noises?
    thanks

I have no doubt that you and I haven't been reading the same posts, but I was under the impression that most people were much more infuriated that there was no announcement or run up to the launch (and thus they bought L9 just before).
Actually, we have been reading the same posts! Apple, historically, have never (and I do mean NEVER) pre-announce releases of Logic Pro. They are always announced on release day, even going back to before the Mac App Store, when boxed versions were still available. Apple do have quite a generous refund policy, so I suggest that anyone who feels cheated could always 'report an issue' via the link in the receipt email and try and obtain a refund. Personally, I would never buy a current version of Logic Pro until July was over, but as I've been using it for over 11 years now (before Apple bought Emagic), I guess I'm very familiar with the release times.
So why not keep support for EXSManager/Keymap, or at least a download link for paying customers. There is no other program that can do what it did unless you want to go back to an old version of Logic and utilise functionality that they removed yet is still relevant today.
Redmatica wouldn't have been allowed (under the terms and conditions of the buyout), to keep making the EXSManager, it would have been illegal as it's now an Apple product. That's like saying why didn't Emagic keep making a version of Logic for the PC after Apple bought them, because they obviously weren't allowed under the terms and conditions because it became an Apple product. While I can understand your frustration, you also have to understand the legalities that take place during takeovers and buyouts, as it's really not as simple as it may at first appear.
