Ordering events

This may have been posted before - I have just got my MAC and am new to all this.
My problem is: I have imported my photos into iphoto and put the events on the events page into alphabetical order. OK so far.
But, when I change to the photos page, the events are not listed in alphabetical order. Nothing I have tried will put them into the right order.
Any ideas

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The sort order in the Photos mode is totally separate from that in the Events mode. In the Photo mode the View->By Title would be the alphabetical sort mode.

Ordering Events On iCal

Is there anyway to order events on iCal in the order you'd like them to appear in? I simply want to have them appear as 1- Band Name, 2 - Band Name, 3 - Band Name. However, iCal orders them in a random way and when I try to arrange by dragging, it throws everything out of whack.

I'd read through the following article about iCal to double check the syncing process. There are two main ways to sync your iCal events onto your iPhone, so depending on which one you use you'll want to check out either the "Set up your iCloud calendar account for use with iCal" or "Sync your calendars with iPhone, iPod, or iPad" sections:

IMovie 10.0.2: how to order events by date?

In the previous versions of iMovie it was possibile to have the events browser ordered by year and month.
Now apparently only in alphabetical order, which to me is not useful.
Any tips?

Thanks Jim, but my problem is the order of events.
Your answer confirms me that it's not possible to have events ordered alphabetically at the moment.

How does iphoto order events?

How does iphoto arrange events for display purposes? It isn't alphabetically by title, it isn't chronologically by event creation date. I am baffled. If I know how they are ordered, I can move photos among events easier by renaming the events so they show up next to each other, then I can drag and drop photos in adjacent events without scrolling. Once I am finished, I can simply rename the events back to the original names. That would be the easiest way I have found to move photos around among events. I just can't figure out the riddle of how the events are ordered.

By default events are sorted by the date of the oldest photo in the event
Probably the easiest way to move photos is to flag the photos you want together and create an event from flagged photos
But generally it is best to just leave events in date/time order and use albums for detailed organization - and/or keywords and smart albums

Order events by date in left panel ?

I have just installed the trial version of aperture 3. I have imported my iPhoto library of 155gb with many events from a round the world trip.
When I click on iPhotoLibrary and select browser I can see all my events in the main viewer panel and then select "Date-Oldest First" from the drop down at the top. However the library panel on the left has everything ordered by name. I right click on Events and select Keep arranged by, but it only offers "Type, Kind, Manual."
Is there a way to order the events in the left hand panel by date?

I may not be following along, but Projects view (which provides what the OP is looking for) has two built-in grouping options: +Group by Year,+ and +Group by Folder+ (controlled by icons right of the sort order spinner). I rarely find any use for +Group by Year,+ but I use +Group by Folder+ as my default. The ability to group by Folder and then drill down to any sub-Folder is foremost in my mind when I am designing the Project storage wing of a Library's Folder structure.

My iPhoto orders events in a wrong order

I don't know due to which glitch, but my events with new pictures taken in 2011 started appearing at the top of iPhoto browser - where oldest photos reside. It's pretty weird, as all events should appear at the bottom of iPhoto browser, together with other, recent events. So my iPhoto looks like this - first there are some events from 2004, then events from 2011, then events from 2004 until 2011 in a nice order. Does anyone knows how some of 2011 events ended up grouped with 2004? Is there a way to get rid of this?

Input related random inputs and out of order events

Hi My wife has a Mac Air 4,2
It has been flawless and in good working order, with minimal applications.
All was well until 20th Sept. Immediatly after a system update to 10.7.4 the trackpad began to show strange drag and click problems .. as if the touch pad had become hypersensitive.
This resulted in unable to click, unable to move , drag select always activated.
I managed with alot of patience to disable all the optional trackpad settings for point & click, Scroll & zoom and More Gestures.... but where did more gestures come from ... is that new?
anyway ... the problem was partially solved, the track pad is now usable but still has issues.
so i moved on to physical and noticed that the edges were dirty and the surface i cleaned with a screen wipe and clicked and blew on the trackpad to free any scum trapped on the edges.
I noticed that some of the surface is very polished and, those areas are marginly more senitive than the rougher areas.
a week on I just logged in to another profile and got hit with the same issues ... and a new one ... keyboard input after rebooting: where is it! i had to wait 5 mins for input to come online.
This got me thinking. The problem is not 100% the trackpad, its the signal processing for realtime inputs from the keyboard and trackpad. either there has been a kernal tweak or the driver for the devices is sending too much data resulting in buffering issues. or more likly some kind of out of order buffer processing that is FUBAR'd.
SO i check for an update: 10.7.5 securty update ... installed ... reboot ... at least I get keyboard input this time ... but the trackpad is still misbehaving... what should i do next:
a) Is there a frimware update for the trackpad?
b) Can I disable the new trackpad functionality completely... I dont actually want or need it
c) Wait for the apple team to make further fixes to the kernel and drivers for touch input.
d) go get an apple engineer to do something with the trackpad.... I have 2 weeks left of warrenty.

"All Photos" album order mixed up after restore (device change)

I recently had to back up and restore an iPhone 6 to a new iPhone 6.
I did a full backup to iTunes, then restored to the new iPhone 6 from that backup.
Everything was restored, including all photos... (I have iCloud Photo Library turned on)... EXCEPT in the "All Photos" default album on my phone, the photos are not in the usual date order. They are all mixed up, mostly in large consecutive chunks, but with some individual photos randomly dispersed. No pattern that I can see otherwise. It looks like: (Jan-Mar 2010)--(Apr 2013-Nov 2013)--(Apr-2010-Feb 2013)--(Dec 2013-Feb 2014)--(Apr 2014-Sep 2014)--(Feb 2015 to today). Something like that.
The "Photos" tab, where you see collections, years, etc, is in date order. On iCloud.com, it is in the right order in the "All Photos" album. However, it is in the *wrong* order on my iPad, where I also have iCloud Photo Library turned on.
What I have tried:
1) Turning off, then turning back on iCloud Photo Library beta.
2) Full erase and restore from iCloud
3) Full erase and restore from a new backup
One more option would be to try restoring from the backup I made before the new iPhone 6, but then I would lose changes since then (about 2 weeks), and I would rather try to avoid that.
Has anyone seen this before? Why is this happening, and what else can I try to fix the order? I saw another thread about out of order events, but this seems different.

I have noticed this as well. The actual dates in the meta data of the photos are correct, however they are displaying completely out of order in 'All Photos' in iOS and OSX Photos.

How do I set the Aperture iPhoto browser to sort events by date?
I'm new to Aperture 3 trial. I have a large iPhoto library from which I want to import an event. I keep the iPhoto events ordered by date. The Aperture iPhoto browser orders events by name. Over the years my naming conventions have changed. My earlier events had names 2001-11-15-name. Since iPhoto started to sort events by date, names started to reflect the contents rather the dates. Still there are many, many events and sorting them by name is not helpful to me at all. It could just as well be random.

Sorting can be done by: Date, Rating, Label, Version Name, Keyword, File size, Pixel Size, Manual, and in Ascending or Descending order. You will see a small label at the top of the Browser which in your case is possibly says Version Name. Click on the R/H side of the label box to show all options. Allan

Order By Clause For Retrieving Child Elements

I got a toplink question regarding adding an order by clause for retrieving the child elements in a 1 to many mapping.
I have an Order with a collection of Order Events. ( one to many mapping). The OrderEvent model is the super class of all events and it is abstract. The mapping for the order event descriptors has a class hierarchy mapping which uses a table for its super class (i.e OrderEvent abstract class) and different tables for its sub class elements (e.g ShippingEvent, LifeCycleEvent etc which are concrete classes).
If I add an order by clause to order the event by a spuerClassProperty in the super class descriptor, it gets ignored and the ordering is done by the alphabetic order of the indicator field values.
I also noticed that if there is more than one sub class instance for a specific class indicator value, the ordering by is observed.
I got around it with a Comparator, but just want to know if it could be possible to achieve this with toplink.

Does the Order By appear on the SQL that get issued? TopLink only does ordering on the database, and not in memory. This means that subclass queries will be ordered per type, on not as one big list.
A Comparator is a good solution.

Application event linking

No - it doesn't quite work that way.
You can have a ccBPM trigger a workflow event in an SAP instance e.g. to handle an exception. But its not a direct link as you describe.
Standard business objects relate to a single application/instance of SAP. XI relates to a hetergenous environment spanning multiple SAP and non-SAP instances so a direct link to standard business objects isn't really appropriate.

Create Return order

Hi all,
I'd like to create return order at the same time of the creation of one standar order. Both linked.
Firstly, I go to CRMD_ORDER to create standar order and I've customized the following event:
Execution Time 1 Immediately
Priority 1
Object Name ORDER
Event SAVE
Attribute <*>
Function ZCREATE_RETURN_ORD
But this event is not executed. Others are executed and create both document correctly.
The problem is that they are not linked despite of I developed the code code for.
As the return order is created firstly, the standard order guid is not in BBDD, so when I add DOC_FLOW to the standard FM, the creation of ther Return order fails.
Do you know any point of the program or event that I could use to create a return order using an standar one at the same time?

For example, create an action with method COPY_DOCUMENT.

are you using any rule in your WF?
check if binding is proper,
check if you passing PO parameters properlty, as ReleaseCode would be a mandatory field in your WF/task container.
