Exporting other than english language pdf's into word

Hello,
I have pdf's that are in languages other than english e.g. german or sanskrit.
I have Acrobat X1 Pro which I used to export the pdf's into word. The word documents really look nice but most of the words come up as garbage and random symbols. Is there a way to fix this problem?

Acrobat XI does not support Sanskrit, but you can specify the document language as German.
When exporting the file, on the Windows "Save As" dialog, select the "Settings" button. Then slect the "Set Language" button and set the language in the next dialog.

Data other than english language

Hi,
I am using Oracle 10g. I am having a table in which there are two columns, one column contains the data which may not be in english. Whenever I populating the data, I am getting some junk characters in that field. Now, if I want to know how many records do I have which are not in english, how to populate only those records ?

One possible way:

Another way:

;Translate translates the first character of the first string to the first character of the second string, the second character of the first string to the second character of the second string, etc.
So § translates to § (unchanged in other words) and A translates to null, B translates to null, etc.
If text contains only a-z or A-Z that translate will turn the entire string to null - if any other characters exist, it will be not null.
There may be as many ways to do this as there are programmers in the world :-)

GUI_DOWNLOAD is giving # for other than english content

Hi Guys,
I am using GUI_DOWNLOAD FM for downloading internal table content. When my table has content other than english language, my downloaded file has only # symbols.
I getting code page number for the language using FM NLS_GET_FRONTEND_CP and passing to GUI_DOWNLOAD. Even standard ALV download also doing the same. Please sugest some solution for this.
I have to download to text file and excel file.

Problem is solved now by giving the code page as 4103 and marking the field write_BOM as X in GUI_DOWNLOAD FM.
You guys are are correct. I am in Unicode system and using SAP 4.7 version. Now it is working fine. But one more problem with GUI_UPLOAD.
I am using Office 2007. I have saved excel file in 2003 format. When i try to upload this file having Korian text/Russian text using the FM ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE last two rows are not coming properly. Tried with FM TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP also. Below is the code snippet.

After 4th row 4th column it should take 5th row 1st column. But it is taking as 4th row 5th column. Also in 4th row 4th column u can see some # symbols and KO after korian text. This value KO should be the 5rh row 1st column value.
When i run the same program in office 2003 machine with the same file it is working perfectly fine.

Print preview of the PO -languages other than English is not appearing.

Hi Experts
In the Print preview of the Purchase Order -languages other than English is not appearing.
When I create a PO for a chinese vendor , in the print i can see only the ##### characters.
Pl let me know how to solve this issue.
Note :
Vendor language is maintained as Chinese in vendor master & same is getting copied in the PO heaader communication tab.
With outtype LP01 it works for the print preview , however when sent as a PDF it wil be with #### charaters.
But when i select LOCL it gives #### charaters for both print & PDF.

Is this a problem with the computer or with the word processor? MS Word for example seems to think its grammar and spelling are better than mine - they are not. You have to go into MS Word preferences and uncheck all the useless "help" it wants to provide.

ESS BP DC view displaying the UI items in diff language, other than english

I have imported the ESS BP into my NWDS using NWDI. But when iam opening cat(timesheet ) related DC, all the views are displaying labels in different language, other than english. How to get those displayed in English.

Hi Ravi,
All the texts in the view (for the labels, buttons, etc) are stored in the xlf file associated with it.
These xlf files you can find in the Navigator view under project source folder.

PS: Also, you can check the default language of the project (check this under Properties for the project).

Getting report (rdf) output in different language format other than english

I have a report registered in apps with the output type as pdf.when i run it,the output comes in pdf but in a language other than english.
when i run the report in the reports builder the output in pdf comes in english.I am using EBS R12.
pls suggest.....Thanx in advance...

what do you mean "configured" ?
mls is the ability to run you application on different language like italian, russian ....
so if you want check how many lang do you have then
select nls_language from fnd_languages where installed_flag in ('B','I');for my test instance i have only "AMERICAN"
but i can run my report with 'lang-template per lang' in different lang
so when you run your concurrent then click "options" and indicate "template language"
if you have
template name: XXTMP_ru.rtf lang: Russian
template name: XXTMP_en.rtf lang: English
then you can choose for "template language" - Russian and English

when i read such string in java program and display it iam getting all question marks instead of language specific characters.

Problem :
The characters which are in the feed are UTF-8 encoded characters ,
where as by default the tomcat server assume that all the characters are encoded in ISO-8859-1
as the result Tomcat is trying to read the characters in the feed (which are UTF-8 encoded) in ISO-8859-1 encoded format because of which it could not able to print the international character's.
How to resolve?

we need to say to the java servlet that those characters are UTF-8 and are not the default ISO encoded

That's it. in adddition to that you need to take care of the below things.
1) mysql connection should be as below
jdbc:mysql://localhost/databasename?useEncoding=true&characterEncoding=UTF-8
instead of
jdbc:mysql://localhost/databasename
2) in mysql database , each table , each text/varchar column should be of UTF-8-general-ci
3) if you are using log4j and want ot see the UTF-8 characters in the log messages you should add the below param to each appender
<param name="Encoding" value="UTF-8"/> (i don't know even after setting this i couldnot able to see the characters properly in log file/console)

I want a JAVA program to recognize languages other than English. (i.e) if I use any other language in the midst of a program, I have to tell the JVM to recognize that language. What is the way to do that?

does quicktime player regonise languages other than english?
i have a lot of chinese songs with chinese wording as titles and when i play them it seems not to recognise it and just shows the song title as some funny symbols.

I'm sorry I made a mistake.
.m4a (in truth .mp4) use Unicode to storage ID3 tags such as Name and Artist.
Treating MP3s, most players only see ID3v1 tags as they are non-Unicode. ID3v2 tags can optionally be Unicode depends on the player and/or encoder.
Quicktime .mov files can use both Unicode and non-unicode encodings for tagging.
iTunes for Windows and iPods support non-Unicode song tags and will display them in the encoding "codepage" in which Windows is set for processing non-Unicode text. But it's unknown whether Quicktime for Windows supports this or not.

Does Mac OS 10.8.2 support dictionary in language other than English.

Does Dictionary in Safari and Mail support language other than English (say Chinese and Japanese)? In iOS, I can simply highlight a word, press "Define" and boom...result is there. But in Mac OS, I tried highlighting Chinese and Japanese words, dictionary replied with "Result not found". Is this a setting issue or foreign language dictionary is not yet available in 10.8.2? Thanks!

We are trying to print payment advice notes in different local

We have maintained the vendor language as the local language(ex:
Japanese)and tried printing the payment advice note and its appearing
in English.

1) Can you check at the condition record level which language is your prinout getting fired.?
2) You can also try logging in japanese language and check if you can see your standard texts correctly.
3) Also check if your printer supports language other than English..

Displaying lauguages other than English

Hi,
I am working with Dreamweaver 8 and having problems in
displaying languages other than English. When i open a page having
Chinese characters and make some changes to it and save it, it
gives me the message of using UTF8 fonts. After i click Ok, it
changes the text into garbage characters and does not show the text
in preview as well. Before making the changes, i am able to view
the text in Chinese in Dreamweaver and also in my browser. Any idea
as to how i can fix this? Your help will be appreciated.
