Ordering MBP in US with German keyboard

Hey guys,
I'm  waiting for the new MBP generation at the moment and I'm going to buy one when it will be released.
The problem is that I'm used to a German keyboard layout because I'm from Germany. In the next month I'm going to live in the US for one year and so I guess that I can not buy the new MBP generation in Germany anymore.
The point is that I want to/must buy the MBP in the US but I appreciate a German keyboard layout.
Is it possible to order a MBP in the US (NY, FL..) with a German keyboard layout?
Thanks for your help!
Simon

It is not possible to order a Macbook Pro in the US with a German keyboard layout.
Options available are Spanish, French and Japanese.
You can chat with agents at Apple Store  by clicking  ASK NOW blue button at the top

  • MacBook Pro with German Keyboard from Italian Store

    Hi,
I want to buy a MacBook Pro with German Keyboard Layout from the Italian Store, but the German Layout is not listen in the available Keyboard Layouts (only Italian, France, English International, English US).
Does anyone know how to order it? Or is there any other possibility to get it? Will Apple add German to the list in the future?

You might try calling an Apple retail store and ask if they can get one for you.

  • Where can I buy a Macbook Pro or Macbook Air with german keyboard ?

My daughter will soon go for 1 year to the US. I would like to buy a MB pro or MB air for her. Since she will return after this year to Germany, I am looking for an opportunity to get a model with German keyboard layout. In the online store, only US, french and spanish are available.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Henri

I type German on the US keyboard all the time without having to switch keyboard layouts:
    option-u followed by a u o (and other letters, too) gives you ä ü ö ï
    option-s gives you ß
    option-2 gives you €
    You can even to French:
option-` followed by, for example e, gives you è
option-e followed by, for example e, gives you é
    option-c gives you ç
    option-i followed by e gives you ê
There are [many more such combinations|http://www.usingmac.com/2007/12/12/100-mac-keyboard-shortcuts-for- creating-symbols] that yield other special characters.
You can set up the built-in spell check to automatically detect what language you are writing in and you're set
Personally I find the US keyboard much nicer to work with. I'm sure your daughter will get used to it and your wallet will thank you.

  • Wrong keyboard mapping on a MacBook C2D 2.0 GHz. with german keyboard,

I think people with a english keyboard won't have this problem.
It might be interesting if other people will have the same problem,
    with non english keyboards.
But if you have a english keyboard please feel free to test.
    Summary:
Wrong keyboard mapping on a MacBook C2D 2.0 GHz. with german keyboard, when choosing chinese "Hanin" input with YiTian keyboard layout.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    A) MacBook C2D 2.0 GHz (white) with german keyboard
    B) MacOSX 10.4.8
    1. choose System Preferences - International - Input Menu
    2. select Traditional Chinese and only Hanin
    3. close System Preferences
    4. open TextEdit
    5. type 'y' to test if it still displays 'y'
    6. choose the german flag next to the system clock and select chinese Hanin
    7. press OptionShiftU to get preferences of Hanin
    8. choose Modes - ZhuYin - YiTian
    9. close preferences of Hanin
    10. choose the Hanin symbol next to the system clock and select "Show Keyboard Viewer"
    11. type in TextEdit again 'y'
    Expected Results:
You should see a chinese character which looks like a nose with a mouth in a side view.
    Actual Results:
You get a chinese character which looks like a ribbon. Which is actually
is the character you will get when you hit 'z'.
    Regression:
Not only the y is switched with the z. All other keys are mapped like an
    english keyboard layout.
It happens whenever you change to Hanin input with YiTian keyboard layout.
    This happens here on a
    MacBook C2D 2.0 GHz (white)
    1 GB RAM
    80 GB
    Mac OS X 10.4.8
This does not happen on a
    15" PowerBook G4 1.67 Ghz
    Mac OS X 10.4.8 / Build 8L2127
This also does not happen on a
    17" iMac C2D 2 GHz
    Mac OS X 10.4.8 / Build 8L127
    Notes:
I tried a SMC reset and reinstalled Mac OS X 10.4.8 on the MacBook but I still get the wrong output. The keyboard behaves like a english keyboard
when you choose Hanin with YiTian layout and only on this MacBook. I
couldn't try on other MacBooks. The problem remains if I use a german USB Apple Keyboard.
    Update:
    I now tested it on:
another MacBook 2.0 GHz C2D (white)
    MacBook 1,83 GHz C2D
    MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz C2D
    all with german keyboard,
    all have the same "bug"
    PB G4, MacBook C2D, iMac C2D   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Maybe its a secret concept of first Aluminium MacBook? Ha?

  • Macbook with german keyboard layout

    Hello everyone,
I'm visiting the US in next month and I'd like to buy a macbook from the U.S apple store. Is it possible to order the macbook online with a installed german keyboard? Or instead buying it in a retail store?
    Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much for the quick help.
I didn't have the kotoeri checked.
However there was another step I had to take after making the input "thingy" appear in the menubar. If you click it and then select the kotoeri preferences from the drop down menu you get all the detailed settings I was looking for. You can specify which layout you want to use in eisuu mode and what kind of kana input.
Thank you once again for giving me the essential tip for finding this little preference window.

  • How can I use premiere pro cc in english language with german keyboard layout/german shortcuts on a mac?

    Hi,
how is it possible to use a german keyboard with its german shortcuts on premiere pro cc in english language on a mac?
I use all my softwares in english.
But aside adobe I can use or change in other softwares (Avid, FCP7, FCPX) to use german keyboard shortcuts on a german logic keyboard.
With After Effects CC I could add a german .txt to a language folder to the installed english version and tataaa:
I could use german keyboard and the german shortcuts on an english installed AE CC.
And in PS there is also a trick.
But in Premiere Pro CC this language .txt doesn´t exist.
And there are many shortcuts that differ from english to german.
Last Job I worked on a PC with the english installed language version, and I could work with the german QWERTZ Logickeyboard
    and use the german shortcuts.
I googled and googled and even talked to the support. But no real helpful answer.
Maybe it was easier to do in Premiere CS6. Was it possible there?
So how is it possible to use a german keyboard QWERTZ with german shortcuts on Premiere Pro CC in english language on a mac?
    Thanks for your help.
    David
MacBook Pro 2,6 GHz i7, OSX 10.9.3 english

I'd also love to have the answer on this.
It's really bothering. All Training material is in english and I have setup my complete system with all apps in english.
With all the apps shortcuts work just fine, just with Premiere Pro CC it doesn't do it at all .....
    Please fix this!

  • Caret character in numbers (iWork09) not working with german keyboard

The caret caracter used to express "power to" in formulas can not be typed into formulas with the german keyboard layout. Using the caret key nothing happens. For text and strings in cells the caret key works. In iWork08 everything is fine. For formulas the caret character has such to be inserted using copy and paste.
This is more or less a bug report. I could not find a way to tell Apple directly.
    Matthias

    Thanks
I'm glad to get this info because I thaught that it was linked to physical keyboards which it isn't.

*Your tracking number for this issue is Bug ID# 6491581.*
    Hello
+In Numbers '09 we are unable to type the caret in this kind of formula =2^3 when we are using a keyboard layout where this key is a dead one.+
+I tested Numbers in three languages:+
    English
    French
    German.
+They behave exactly the same way with the keyboards layout where caret is a deadkey.+
    +Examples of tested layouts:+
    French,
    German,
    Swedish
+At this time, we must use the Character Palette (or a copy paste) to enter the caret.+
+I wish to add that this bug strikes only in the "edit formula" tool.+
+Whe we type the content of a string, it works.+
+We may use the caret to type the circumflex above thr e in this example:+
    +="c'est" & " le même"+

How you type something depends on what you have selected in settings > general > Keyboards.  In particular, you need to tap the language name of your keyboard setting and tell us what is checked under the Hardware list.

  • Issue with German Keyboard

I live in India but i brought my macbook in Switzerland. Now I have the "german keybaord" and i need to remember the keys present in English Keyboard to type (this is coz i opted for some settings in first start up).
Now i want to stick to german keyboard, i want to type in what i see on my keyboard.
    How is it possible?

    Hi
If u bought it in Switzerland, you shouldn't have a German Keyboard!
It's actually a Swiss German or Swiss France Keyboard. To change the Keyboard Layout you go to System Pref. -> International -> Input Menu -> choose Swiss German / Swiss France Keyboard depending which one you have built in.

  • How to order 2.0Ghz MacBook with Backlit keyboard?

How come we can't order the Backlit keyboard on the baseline (2.0Ghz) MacBook?
I mean I'd be willing to pay a little more for that option.
I find it extremely disappointing that it would cost me $350 more to get the backlit keyboard (where I won't be using the power the higher end MacBook has).

I agree - but this was an obvious MISTAKE on Apple's website, and not intentional.
Other country sites (Apple German site for example) had it correct all the way. The US store was just faulty. They have fixed that overnight. I would argue, you get good stuff for the extra $300 other than the backlighting, and I assume that investment will carry you a few years. In which case I'd call and have them upgrade your order to the higher end one. If you are nice, they might give you a discount, if you explain the situation (quite common).

  • US MacBook with German keybord

Is there a way to order a MacBook Pro within the US that comes with a German keybord?
I am particularly keen on having the special characters like Ö available as hard keys.

MacBook Pro with English (US), Japanese, French and Spanish are available in the USA.
Unfortunately MBP with German keyboard is not available.

  • German Keyboard shortcuts in Englisch AFX CS5?

    Hi there,
I have updatet to the englisch Production Premium CS5 (I always use englisch software even though I live in germany).
In CS4, I was able to replace the englisch keyboard shortcut file in AFX with german keyboard shortcuts. Everything worked wunderfully.
So I tried the same thing with AFX CS5. Since I don't have a german text file for the shortcuts of CS5, I just gave it a try and copied the CS4 german one. They pretty much look the same. But after restarting AFX the shortcuts are still in english, and the german content of the file itsell turned into englisch again :-(  Since I followed the same procedure like I did with CS4 a couple of months ago, I don't really know where the error is.
Maybe somebody could send me the original german Keyborad shortcut file for AFX CS5. In windows 7 64bit it is located here:
    C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\10.0\Adobe After Effects 10.0 Shortcuts
I don't know if that would solve it. But I guess that for CS5 the language file of the shortcuts might be slightly different from CS4, and thats why AFX CS5 won't accept my old CS4 german language shortcut file.
    Hope somebody can help,
    Martin

Works without issues for me, but you may try the attached file (download with right-click --> Save Link as..., rename from JPG to TXT).

  • Where is the Alt+Gr button? (German keyboard layout)

I have an iBook from the US and use it with German keyboard layout. I miss the Alt+Gr key. For example I need it to type the @ symbol, which I used to get with AltGrq.
Can anyone please help me how to activate the Alt+Gr key or how to type @, [, ], ~ with the German layout?

To create an @ in the German layout, press the Option and L keys simultaneously. The [ and ] can be made by pressing Option+5 and Option+6 respectively. To create an ~, hold down Control, Option, and N.
