Ordering or Organizing Styles

I can not find this answer by searching the web nor the
messages on this
list.
Is it possible to organize or "order" the styles which are
listed in the
Styles Panel. It seems that the order is the order in which
they are
created. I would like to drag and drop them so similar styles
are
grouped together in the style list display. I tried editing
the css
code and cut/pasted one style into a new position in the css
document,
but the display in the css panel did not change.
Is this possible? It must be as I have seen some figures on
some
tutorial webpages where the styles were all named similarly
and grouped
together, perhaps alphabetically....but how is it done?
Thanks,
Ken

Bonnie: thanks for the reply and the site on CSS. I've
bookmarked it
but it does not seem that helpful to me right now as I am not
deep into
the html but instead just want to improve my (very limited)
productivity
with DW MX. As I create content and want to apply styles
already used,
and as the list gets longer, it is inefficient to scan up and
down the
list for the style I want to use at that moment. Surely there
has to be
a way of grouping similar style names next to each other in
one or the
other of the lists without "hurting the cascade" as you
mention.
Can you or someone else say more about DW MX and this issue?
Thanks,
Ken

  • With iTunes match, order of the songs in my playlist of mobile devices is not the same as on my computer

    In my iTunes on computer, I have several smart play lists. Within each playlist, songs are set to a certain order. Some playlist songs order are organized by name, some playlists are organized by Album, some playlists are organized by artist etc.
    When I was syncing my iPhone and iPad directly with my computer, the playlists on my mobile device had same order of songs as on my itunes in computer.
    Now, I signed up for iTunes match. With iCloud sync, order of the songs in my playlist of mobile devices is not the same as on my computer. In fact, order of songs within a playlist appears to be completely random. Moreover, order of songs are different in my iPhone 4s and iPad 2
    How can I change the order of songs on my mobile devices or how do I make iTunes match to sync my songs such that within a playlist, my songs are in the same order as that of iTunes on my computer.

    Thanks mracole. I assume this means order of songs will work with regular play lists I iTunes match. Will try it this afternoon and report.
    Please let me know if my understanding is not correct.
    Best regards and thanks once again.

  • Sort order in Paragraph Catalog inconsistent / incorrect

    b Problem Description:
    Sort order of paragraph styles INCONSISTENT/INCORRECT when compared to standard alphabetical sort. From the Paragraph Catalog, or when I select F9, styles starting with "1a_" sort before styles starting with "1_". If a table with the style names is sorted, "1_" comes before "1a_".
    This sort order worked correctly in FM7.2. In FM8.x, it started sorting incorrectly. Our template was designed based on the standard sort order for characters, which somehow changed starting in FM8.x.
    b Steps to Reproduce:
    Generated a list of para styles in our template, converted to table, sorted, and compared to the Paragraph Catalog.
    b Actual Result:
    1a_Heading1_NoTOC

    I have the same problem. I've lost track now of the number of times where I've assigned the wrong paragraph style to something since switching to FM8. The styles are no longer in the same order, so my level 1 heading is no longer the first tag that comes up when I press F9. Now I have to dig for it through other tags that start with the number 1 in our catalog.
    Our paragraph tags were developed years ago, and it wasn't until FM8 that there was a problem with the sort order. The characters no longer sort the same as Windows sorts. An underscore is supposed to come before all letters and numbers. Adobe, please fix this annoying bug!!!

  • Drill-down reports Discoverer-style

    Hi,
    I'm looking for a way to implement drill-down reports in HTMLDB. All the references I found are showing details in a 2nd page for a certain row in the 1st page (e.g. ordered items for an order ID).
    I'm not looking for this, but for drill-down "a la Discoverer", such as this example
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/discoverer/discoverer_1012/viewer/lesson1.htm#t7
    One can select there multiple criterias for drill down.
    Perhaps the solution would be a combination of tree reports with standard reports
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/howto_tree.html
    but I don't see clearly how to do it, especially with a lot of drill-down options.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Many thanks,
    Marius

    I think there are two differen approaches:
    - using the HTML report and doing some "dynamic" SQL at the block level
    (That means you have to write the drill down - this is the logic that
    is done by the tree - by yourself)
    If you ever have done the work to do this in combination with a HTML DB report,
    please post it here.
    - using the a Tree Page with a special layout and view
    Which one to use depends on how often you have to use this.
    You can see an example under:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=41053:30
    Here is a quick hack for the Tree Page variant, that may help you.
    Using a Tree page uning a view and changing the tree template gives you some of
    this functionality. If you have to do more of this kind use a stylesheet (.css) to
    controll the layout.
    1. Create a View that represents your Hierarchy (Structure)
    For every level create a UNION secion.
    Using UNION you can get the records from different sources also.
    2. Create a Page with a Tree, SQL Query Based.
    Use the View that you created before.
    NAME .. are the levels of your dimensions
    A1, A2 .. are your measures of your fact
    ID, PID .. the hierarchy (structure) information
    * Step 1 - creating a view:
    create or replace view tree as
    select id, pid, name, link, a1, a2
    from (
    -- Level 1 (Root Level)
    select
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY') id, null pid,
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY') name, null link,
    to_char(sum(ORDER_TOTAL),'999G9990D99') a1, to_char(count(*),'999G9990D99') a2
    from DEMO_ORDERS
    group by
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY')
    UNION
    -- Level 2
    select
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'Month'), null,
    to_char(sum(ORDER_TOTAL),'999G9990D99'), to_char(count(*),'999G9990D99')
    from DEMO_ORDERS
    group by
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'Month')
    UNION
    -- Level 3 (Leaf Level)
    select
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMMDD'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'DD. Day'), null,
    to_char(sum(ORDER_TOTAL),'999G9990D99'), to_char(count(*),'999G9990D99')
    from DEMO_ORDERS
    group by
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMMDD'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'DD. Day')
    )If you have a lot of this kind of reports you realy should think to
    use discoverer. It does a lot of sql behind the szenes and also in the
    presentation logic - this is what you have to do here by hand.
    If you have more than two measures (A1,A2) you can do the
    formatting in your view (realy ugly, but it is a workaround).
    * Step 2: Create the tree page
    Tree Query:
    select
    "ID" id, "PID" pid, "NAME" name,
    null link, a1 a1, a2 a2
    from TREEBefore Tree:
    <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">After Tree:

  • Over riding an old CSS style with a new one

    Hi there,
    I'm still learning how to deal with CSS and I'm having this problem. I'm redesigning an existing site and trying to override the old styles with new ones. When I select the text I want to change, I try to apply a new style, and it doesn't work. It sometimes applies part of the style. I tried to change the order of the styles in the 'all rules' panel, but that didn't work. The old rule is #content a:hover, a:active and the new one (higher up the list) is #named anchor. The problem is that the old one looks like a link to nowhere (there's a background colour). I know there must be a simple solution here (besides cutting and pasting text that looks right into the different spot and rewriting the text like I've been doing-AHHHHH!). I don't want to change the properties of that rule because it works in other places thorughout the website. Can I somehow clear all the old style info off these headings and then reapply the new style? Help!

    CSS Pseudo-classes - Link States
    You need to define a set of link states (link, visited, hover, active) for each ID or class name required.  Let's say you want to have red links in your #header and white links in your #footer.
    CSS:
    #header a {text-decoration:none}
    #header a:link {color:red}     /**unvisited**/
    #header a:visited {color:gray} /**visited**/
    #header a:hover,               /**on mouse over**/
    #header a:active,              /**on click**/
    #header a:focus                /**on tab key**/
        {text-decoration:underline}
    #footer a {text-decoration:none}
    #footer a:link {color:white}
    #footer a:visited {color:yellow}
    #footer a:hover,
    #footer a:active,
    #footer a:focus
        {text-decoration:underline}
    HTML:
    <div id="header">
    <a href="some-link.html">Link in the header</a> |
    <a href="some-link.html">Link in the header</a> |
    <a href="some-link.html">Link in the header</a> |
    </div>
    <div  id="footer">
    <a href="some-link.html">Footer link</a> |
    <a href="some-link.html">Footer link</a> |
    <a href="some-link.html">Footer link</a> |
    </div>

  • Custom cascading style sheet

    We are using 'skin_custom.properties' to point to a style sheet that will contain
    all our values to the existing selectors in the various style sheets. For example,
    in 'body.css', the 'background-color' property is set for '.bea-portal-body'.
    However, we override this in our own style sheet.
    The problem arises from the fact that the order of the style sheets is determined
    by the optional "index" attribute set in the .properties file and that unindexed
    groups are "rendered last in an arbitrary order". If you look at 'skin.properties',
    most of the standard style sheets do NOT use the "index" attribute. I would like
    my style sheet to be the last one so that it will take precedence but it doesn't
    look like this is possible. Any ideas?
    I prefer not changing the standard style sheets because that will be a maintenance
    nightmare whenever a new release is installed. Using the 'skin_custom.properties'
    is very clean and maintainable. Once again, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Scott,
    I've done a quick test using a CSS file located on the filesystem. My CSS contains the following
    #tCarmineTabs{margin:0px 0px 5px 0; padding: 0px; border-bottom:2px solid #000; border-top:none; line-height:normal;font-weight:bold;background: url(http://localhost:8080/i/themes/theme_carmine/tab_bg.jpg) repeat-x left middle;}
    This works fine in IE with the background image being displayed, however the image is not being displayed in Firefox. So it looks like it's browser related.
    I'll do some further testing on Firefox and see if I can get the image to display.
    Andrew.

  • Orphan 'Files' vs orphan 'STYLES'?

    Developing and maintaining hundreds of web pages for a web site can be a hassle (I know - preaching to the choir.)
    DW has a nice feature for identifying and locating unused (orphan) files,
    however,
    Page designs evolve over time.
    Hard to keep track of all pages that call for a style that is no longer defined or have a style definition that is no longer used.
    Sure would be nice to be able to
    (1) identify and locate unused 'Styles' in stylesheets and/or in documents or to
    (2) produce a list of all styles defined in the head of all pages of a web site.
    e.g.
    last year I created some pages that needed a <p> with a smaller font and had a margin of 10 px on all sides.
    I defined that style in the head of the document.
    Later I standardized on a style that I use on several pages that is only slightly different.
    Created a new style in a style sheet.
    Even replaced the style identifier for paragraphs on pages I could find that used the old reference to the style I don't want to use any more.
    Problem is - I still have pages that have the old unused style definition in the head of the document.
    I know, I can search the site for any source code that contains '.dumstyle_icky' and replace or delete it.
    But I've been a proliferous experimentor.
    Tons of old pages to wade through.
    Am I the only one that has this kind of problem on a site redisign?
    Is there an extension, etc., that can help with this kind of houskeeping?
    I purchased 'CSS Edit'. Nice CSS editor but no help organizing styles or cleaning up css on existing htm or php documents.

    If you use Firefox (and everyone should IMHO), there's an add-on for it called Dust-Me Selectors that finds unused CSS selectors in pages and keeps a log to cross check against other site pages.

  • Cascading LOV - and order by clause?

    Hi, I have a collection that makes use of cascading lovs.
    The cascading lov works properly, but I would like the return values sorted alphabetically and cannot figure out why they are not. If I run the query in SQL, it runs perfectly.
    My query is:
    select......
    apex_item.select_list_from_query_xl(15,c015,'select port_name, port
    from valid_ports
    where state = '
    ||nvl(c014,0)
    *||'order by port_name',*
    'style="width:150px;background-color:#FBEC5D;"',
    'YES',
    '0',
    '- Select PORT -',
    'f15_' || LPAD (seq_id, 4, '0'),
    NULL,
    'NO' ) PORT,
    c014 is a state code. Order by port_name.
    any thoughts? thanks

    Hi Varad, thanks for your response. It is the child...here is the full query, it may make more sense.
    thanks again!

  • Sorting styles list

    Is there any way to sort the styles list that is in the
    properties panel so that it reflects the order in the style sheet?
    Or possibly alphabetically? It would be a lot easier to find a
    style and apply it.
    Thanks

    If you have that many styles that appear in the list, then
    you are probably
    not using CSS optimally.
    In general, you don't need many custom classes. And, in fact,
    they
    make your life more difficult when you come back to maintain
    the page a year
    later. As Micha said, use ID selectors and create descendent
    selector
    rules, for example -
    #maintable { .... }
    #maintable td { .... }
    #maintable td table { ... }
    each of those rules would apply explicitly to a) this table -
    <table id="maintable">,
    and b) this cell -
    <table id="maintable">
    <tr>
    <td>...</td>
    </tr>
    </table> (and all others in that table),
    and to this table -
    <table id="maintable">
    <tr>
    <td>
    <table>
    <tr>
    <td></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    Then you could use this rule -
    #maintable table td.special { .... }
    to apply to this cell explicitly -
    <table id="maintable">
    <tr>
    <td>
    <table>
    <tr>
    <td class="special">this one</td>
    <td>but not this one</td>
    <td class="special">this one</td>
    <td>but not this one</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>

  • Videos not organized the way I want (I think)

    I FINALLY downloaded videos to my iPod, however they are not being organized the way I want. Let me explain.
    I have 32 videos purchased from iTunes, various artists, and only 1 video per artist. With audio files for artists with 1 to 3 songs I group them all into one artist called "VARIOUS" and the album is "iTunes". I delete all other information pertaining to the artist.
    I applied this same reasoning to the videos, I also numbered them 1-32 in order that I bought them. However when I go to the videos on my iPod (when it's NOT connected to my computer) all the videos are in Alphabetical order of the artist, which I THOUGHT I deleted. So when I play them they play in alphabetical order on my iPod when it's NOT connected to my computer. When I play them through my iPod connected to my computer they play in the order I organized.
    Is there something I missed? Is there a shuffle option for videos that I can't seem to find?
    Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
    60GB iPod w/Video   Windows XP

    I checked the shuffle option and it does not work on videos, only Songs and Albums. Thinking it might be an iTunes 7.3 thing I removed that version and reinstalled the 7.2 version - same results.
    I've tried numerous things and still have the same result:
    With the iPod plugged into the computer, the videos are in the numerical order I placed them, and I can play them in that order in iTunes.
    With the iPod on its own, the videos are in Alphabetical order and play that way all the time everytime.
    UPDATE:
    For some reason I NOW have an iTunes Videos playlist in Videos>Video Playlists and they are in the order I placed them.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Why does Launchpad constantly re-order my apps?

    I installed Lion several days ago but only last night took the time to configure my applications in Launchpad.  I set up some folders and moved things around to be organized.  To be honest, this feature is heaven for me!
    But over the past 24 hours, I've encountered a strange problem.  Everytime I reboot my iMac, the set order I organized all of my apps to apear in keep re-ordering and mixing up on me.  I don't know how or why this is happening but it has to be a bug of sorts.
    I have 24 apps/folders on my first Launchpad page, which is all of my primary apps and folders that I use regularly.  The other two pages are folders and apps that I probably won't ever need to launch from there.   I set all of my web browsers and internet related apps on the bottom row.  Design apps on the next row up.  Music and audio editing apps the next row up from there and my regularly used system utilities, calculator, app store, etc. on the top row.
    Well, all of my apps maintain what row they're set to - but the bottom two rows are always re-ordering when I reboot my machine.  I haven't changed, updated or added any new applications, yet by doing an experiment a moment ago, I set my apps the way I wanted to, did nothing else, rebooted my machine and went back to Launchpad.  It still re-orders itself.  I did this 4 times in a row and it's the same result each time.  And the same way the apps are re-rdered too.  It's not setting them alphabetically either so I don't have a clue as to what is happening.
    Anybody else experiencing this?   I guess it's not a huge deal since all of the apps are still there - but I'm a little OCD and when I set my apps to where the 8 most commonly used apps are in the center 2 rows and suddenly they're mixed up, it kind of makes this new feature almost pointless.  Would rather just double click a folder on my desktop to have it open the apps/aliases I want.

    Definitely seeing this myself. Not sure what process is doing it, but it would have to be changing the IDs of each item in Launchpad on each relaunch of the "Dock" process (since the whole thing is controlled by an SQL Lite database in your ~/Library/Application Support/Dock folder). It could be looking at the last "something'd" date and ordering them based on that.
    Crazy idea, maybe try write-protecting that database after everything is as you'd want it? Trouble is, next time you download or install an app that Launchpad would want to add, you'd need to un-write-protect it, add the app, then re-write-protect it. Scriptable, sure, but not "It just works". And even then it might not like the database not being modifyable and just crash or act oddly.
    I haven't given it much effort as my primary app launch method is still Spotlight. If you want your apps to stay in order, just drag your Applications folder back to your dock and use it just like you did in [Snow] Leopard, as they'll stay in the sort order you set it there. Or submit a bug report (http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html) and hope they fix it in a future release. Finally, for those who want to use Launchpad and fix it themselves, may I suggest this:
    Get your apps in the order you want them
    Back up the database in ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock to somewhere
    Write a simple bash or Apple script that kills the Dock, copies that archived database where everything is in the correct order to its "live" location, then restarts the Dock
    Set said script to run on boot by adding it to your Startup Items (Accounts in System Preferences)
    Profit?
    Of course, anytime you make an edit to what's in Launchpad or the order of Launchpad, you'd need to remember to re-backup your database so this script wouldn't overwrite your edits the next time you rebooted.
    *The above idea has not been tested and merely should work given that Mac OS is nearly UNIX and as such usually behaves rationally

  • How to make duplicate the para styles

    Hi,
    I have already created some set of styles for journal tempalte [E.g.: jNL,jUNL,...].
    Now I want to create same set of styles but starting with 'b' for book. [E.g.: bNL,bUNL,...].
    How to get duplicate 200 style names, but 'j' has to change 'b'.
    FYI:
    Is this possible by script?
    by
    hasvi

    I would strongly recommend to make organized styles, all depending on each other like a tree.
    So let's say make a basic para style, then create a folder (group) for the first style, depending on the basic. Name the folder J or Journal and the styles List1, List2, etc.
    When this group is complete, duplicate the folder (group) and rename it book. The styles have the same name, but are different in the group. This is easier to handle than to to rename each style.
    I do a similiar thing. I create a complete style sytem with groups and subgroups based on an outside basic style, but in the group is another basic style, this has the language German, when this group is complete, I duplicate it, change the name and change the basic style in the group to English, so I have the very same style name with a different language. In this basic style I adjust also language dependend GREPs, tracking or spaces should be wider in English because it needs less space normally, etc.
    It is easier to work with groups than with renaming the styles, and you get a very similiar result for using it.

  • M300 Winamp drops everything in root

    $I use the Zen Style M300 with the actual firmware and winamp for create playlists.
    But winamp drops every playlist directly in root, and creates for every sond folders with artist and album direcly in root.
    How can i change that? winamp should use the playlist and music folder.
    And: how can i sort the playlists in winamp or directly in m300?

    (Hi,
    I am not sure if there are any ways to change that. Note that even if you arrange the songs in any particular order, the ZEN Style M300 is still going to organize the songs based on the song information embedded in each music file. Playlists are organized based on <strike>alpabetically order</strike> date of creation.
