Ordering Photo Books in Australia with iPhoto 5

We've just spend ages building a photo book using iPhoto 5.0.4 in Australia. We couldn't actually place the order though. After a call to Apple support in Australia, we have discovered that you can only order a photo book from iPhoto in Australia using iPhoto 6 & upwards...

The Apple Australia web site says you can:
http://www.apple.com/au/ilife/iphoto/print-products.html
I'd suggest you ask for further assistance in the iPhoto forum. This forum is for old, pre-G3 Apple hardware and hence not the place where you'll be most likely to get useful advice.
Regards.

Mac OS X does not offer a Clean install option.    If by clean install you mean erasing the system, that is not recommended unless:
    1. You bought a used/refurbished Mac and there is software on it without any accompanying discs, and it is older than July 20, 2011 in model release:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6413
Or if it is at or newer, then erase it if it has applications installed that would not have been prebundled with it and you have no CDs for those applications.
You don't want someone else's software keys, or accounts, or to be running unlicensed software.  At and newer Macs offer a built-in internet restore for their software with a command-R boot that lets you erase the system with Disk Utility, and then install from the internet the latest operating system.
    2. You have a hardware issue and want to eliminate possible software issues as the cause when troubleshooting a problem all at once.
Issues affecting a new install have to be isolated before you attempt it.   Unless you know it is software or hardware, erasing may only mask other problems.

  • HT204364 Help on Ordering Photo Book

I submitted a 62 page photo book for publication and after paying and, thereafter, gathering done, the order seems to get stuck in download at about the 1/2 way mark (according to Apple's completion bar graph; I know not necessarily accurate).  Left it going 2x overnight and still stuck in the morning.  Checked for updates to software.  Turned compueter off and tried again.  My internet speed is good.  I have ordered photo books in past and orders were completed without a problem.  Thoughts?
By the way, it seems ridiculous that I can't ask Apple these questions for free when I am spending money to purchase products from them (I have three books for holidays lined up).  Is there a way when the problem is a purchase problem and not a computer problem?

Here are a some other tricks that helped users get their books ordered. Maybe one will work for you:

Just got off the phone with apple support.  If the photo book completes the assembly process but fails during the upload process the problem is in their overloaded servers. They just started a free shipping promotion for the holidays which has increased the traffic dramatically. I bought a calendar a week ago and it went right through. I'm going to try again during less peak times.
    Next:
Here's a fix that worked for some users:
Make sure this checkbox is checked in the System/Sharing preference pane:
If it is, uncheck it and then recheck and try ordering again.
    And lastly:
    Quit iPhoto.
From the Finder menu bar, choose Go > Utilities to access your Utilities folder (or press Shift-Command-U).
In your Utilities folder, open Keychain Access.
Find the "NetServices" entry in your Keychain Access window.
Select the "NetServices" entry and press the delete key.
Reopen iPhoto and attempt to place your order again.
You should be prompted to enter your account information if you deleted the Keychain entry successfully.
After entering your account information, you should be able to complete your order.
    Happy Holidays

  • What is wrong with my shipping address? I want to order pictures via apple store with iPhoto. Apple Id and payment seem ok. My current and correct shipping address appears with red letters. Why and what to do?

Maybe this is relevant: I bought iphoto from the German apple store but I now live in Italy. I have tried German credit card with German invoicing address and Italian shipping address. And I have tried Italian credit card with Italian invoicing address and Italian shipping address. The phenomenon is the same: shipping address appears in red and I am asked to fill in the mandatory fields (which turn red whatever I enter).

    KarinavD,
what is the setting for the Print Products Store in the Advanced Tab of the iPhoto Preferences?
The country you select there has to match the billing address. And your billing address should match the country of your AppleID and credit card used with the AppleID.

  • Unsupported Location (Ordering Photo Book in iPhoto iOS)

Anyone know why I cannot order a photo book through the latest version of iPhoto (v2.0) for iOS on my iPad 3?.  Is the service not live yet?
When I try to input my address it tells me I am in an Unsupported Location and deliveries cannot be made to this location.  I do not live in a location where deliveries cannot be made, I order regularly from Amazon and get my stuff next day.
When I click 'Learn More' at the message prompt it tells me that it is not available at the moment.
I have set the Store location to my country in the options.
What am I doing wrong?, please help.
    Thanks
    Allyn

What Print Product Store did you select in iPhoto's options?
Is you address consistant with the Store you selected?

  • How can i import and order photo books from older iPhoto versions?

I have made a photobook which i have not ordered at apple yet. It's on another macbook still running iphoto 07 (unable to update iphoto, because to old for Mavericks)... Somehow i can't import this album on my laptop running iphoto 9.5.1 and order it from here...
    Does anyone have solution?

Read again - the word "import" does not appear in either answeer - you never ever import one iPhoto library into another one
books do not actually exist - they are simply database entries - so you have to move the entire iphoto library
1 - rename it on the source machine
2 - Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled)
3 -  drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac
4 - depress the opeion key and launch iPhoto on the new mac
5 -  select the library with the book, convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward
    - be sure to
Before ordering your book preview it using this method -http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
there may be differences in the book due to a new system
Spacing added for clearity in reading

  • Iphoto won't  transfer to order photo book

I get a fault trying to order a photo book. It says "An export error occured while finalizing the photo book." Error: (null)

Preview your book. One of the photos may not be printable. See this for how to make a preview:
iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
If making a preview should fail, try to identify and remove any photo that is causing problems.
Then boot into  Safe Mode, and order the book while still in Safe Mode.
Keep the Preview for reference, until the book has been delivered.

  • Can you still order photo books if you're running iPhoto '09?

I have an older MacBook and I'm running Snow Leopard and iPhoto '09.  (I was thinking of upgrading to iPhoto '11 but it's no longer available for Snow Leopard in the App store.  Don't really want to buy the CD version when I don't use any of the other apps.)
I'd like to create some iPhoto books as gifts but I don't want to spend a lot of time on them if they won't work with iPhoto '09.  Can you still order them from the old version of iPhoto?

yes - Also with iPhoto '08

  • Ordering Photo Book From iphoto

I am finished developing a photo book using iphoto. However, the book only has 13 pages, and iphoto tells me I cannot order a book without at least 20 pages. My book is two-sided, so if I one-side it, it will be more than 20 pages. I see where there are options for one-sided pages, but I cannot tell how to convert an existing project from two-sided to one-sided. It would be a hassle at this point to go outside iphoto and use an internet vendor. Do you know how to convert 2-sided book to 1-sided?

Move them in the page thumbnails so the even numbered pages are blank
And before you order preview your book - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference

  • Ordering photo book

I am wanting to order a photo book from iphoto. I am not living in one of the supported countries. Does anyone know when or if this service will become available in Australia? Thanks.

Apple prints up to 100 pages. there is a warning i you try to add more.
if you want/need another size, choose "print book"... there you willget a dialog box with options to export the book in PDF, JPG or other form.
but some layout will be lost: full bleed double page spreads can only be exported in the PDF that goes to APPLE....
lastly, using standard sizes, even if you don't want to have the book ordered, following the procedure (almost) to the end allows you to review a PDF of exactly the potential apple book. You can then keep the PDF and abort the order. this will get you the full bleed doubles...
    cheers

  • Text disappears when previewing/ordering photo books - help!

I've made a photo book in iPhoto but when I try to preview it or convert to a pdf it gives me an error message and then creates the book without any text. I'm afraid to order it in case the problem appears in the final edition - the text is very important. Any ideas how to solve the problem?
I've ordered several photo books in the past and never had this problem.

Sorry to string out this thread but I have the answer. Apple provided me this information and it works. hope it helps your problem, too:
    1) Open iPhoto.
    2) Select the book from the Source list on the left.
    3) Choose Print from the File menu.
    4) Click the Preview button on the bottom left. This will create a portable document format (PDF) file and display the file using the Preview application.
    5) Verify that the text is displayed.
    6) If the text is displayed correctly, and if you are satisfied with the book, close the PDF file, return to iPhoto, and click the Buy Book button. You may skip the rest of these steps.
    7) If the text is not displayed, close the PDF file and quit iPhoto.
    8) While in the Finder, choose Home from the Go menu. Open the Library folder, then open the Preferences folder. Locate the file called "com.apple.iphoto.plist" and drag it to the desktop. This will reset the iPhoto preferences to the default settings.
(Please note that if the Library is located on a separate partition or hard disk, you may need to point iPhoto to the Library location when you reopen iPhoto. You can do this by holding Option while opening iPhoto.)
    9) Reopen iPhoto and preview the book using steps 2 through 5 above. If you are satisfied with the book, close the PDF file, return to iPhoto, and click the Buy Book button. Then drag com.apple.iphoto.plist to the trash, as it may have been causing the issue.

  • Sharing a photo album in ipad with iphotos on mac

i arranged a series of photos on my Ipad into an "album". I would now like to have that show up in Iphoto on my macbook, to build and order a hard-copy book, not a digital book. How can I get the album from my Ipad to Iphoto on the macbook?

Backing up with iCloud would not backup synced photos anyway. iCloud only works photos that you take with the iPad.
There are third party WiFi apps that will allow you to transfer the photos back to the Mac. You download the app to both devices and then you can send photos and videos to and from each device.
I use this one. There are others available in the App Store.

  • Create / order photo books

Just received my photo book from Mpix. Looks fantastic. Sure would be a
lot easier if I could create and order these photo books from within LR
(similar to creating a web gallery) without having to export and use another
application. I look forward to the eminent release of the LR SDK so that LR
can be extended with this and many other useful enhancements.
    Best,
    Christopher

    > Am I missing something here?
Yes, I think so. You claim every print company has it's own requirements.
I do not disagree. That's why the SDK is needed, so that each print company
may supply their own LR plugin. To create my Mpix photo book, I downloaded
the Mpix photo book application and used that. After the LR SDK is
released, rather than use company-specific applications, companies will have
the opportunity to develop company-specific plugins, thus allowing us to
    work within LR.
Think about the vast number plugins for AE and Photoshop. Many of them are
fanctastic, and seemlessly extend the AE / Photoshop architectures. That is
why I eagerly await the release of the LR SDK. It will allow third-party
developers to extend the LR architecture, and each of us can pick and choose
which extensions / plugins we want to use.
    Best,
    Christopher

  • Re-order photo books

Does anyone know if there is a way to re-order additional copies of an apple photo book from my apple store account so I don't have to upload the file from aperture again?

Is there an answer to this?  When I order photobooks (from other services, e.g.), I tend to order only one to see if it looks good in real life -- and then order more later.  Is that possible with Aperture and Apple?
