Ordering WCS

I'm working with a customer that has several WLC in place and working already. They now want to get a WCS server with location services in place. Does the licensing strictly depend on the number of APs in use, not the number or type of WLCs?
For a linux server, the part number I want is AIR-WCS-LL-1.0-K9, isn't it? Does that part number include any AP licenses? And the additional APs are licensed in multiples of 50, 100, and 500, correct?
Thanks!

  • Ordering WCS with MSE

When ordering WCS with MSE, is this all you need for WCS?
    WCS-STANDARD-K9 ($0) + WCS-PLUS-500 ($44.5K)
In the past we've ordered WCS-APLOC-500. Did WCS-PLUS-500 replace it?
Is WCS-APBASE-500 for when you don't use MSE?

Yes you just need standard + Plus to integrate with MSE. Plus also gives you high availability which is a nice feature. Plus has replaced Loc.
Below link will give you all the info you need.

  • WCS 4.1.83.0 - WLC 4.1.171. inconsistencies

    Hello,
we upgraded to the above systems in the following order:
    WCS to 4.1.83
    WLC to 4.0.217
    WLC to 4.1.171 (+bootloader update)
Now we have the following issues:
the Controllers pushed the updates towards the APs. We can confirm the 4.1.171 on the APs via the WLCs, but the WCS does always show older versions in the AP summaries, which results in problems with template rollouts (f.e. because the WLC thinks, that a 4.0.xxx AP /controller combo is not able to handle the new 4.1 templates).
When we change an option of an AP via the controller and do an audit on the WCS, THEN the WLC shows the current AP software correctly.
Is is possible to do an general audit, so we dont have to do this on every AP individually?

What happens after you refresh the config from the controllers under WCS?

  • Cisco Prime LMS ordering

    Hi,
I need to order WCS and LMS for a new network. But after going through the datasheet, I found it is now bundled as Cisco Prime Infrastructure. I am confused in selecting the device counts. If I need to manage 140 access points and 100 network devices, how much device license i should order for Cisco Prime infrastructure.
When i select 100 license for the part number R-PI-1.1-100-K9, i am getting 100 NCS license and 100 LMS license as included items, so for my above scenario, if i order 150 license for prime infrastructure, will it cover all 240 devices?
    Many thanks....
    Abdul Rasheeth.

Cisco Prime LMS does NOT have the WAN QoS deployment capabilities packaged up nicely the way QPM did. It does, however, offer the Auto Smartports and MediaNet work centers that aid in setting up (primarily) endpoint switch ports. See this link for more details.
I believe the best one could do with respect to MAN/WAN devices' QoS settings using LMS would be to create deployment templates and do compliance checks.

  • WCS License Upgrade

    Dear All
I am trying to upgrade a WCS running a plus license f 100 access point. with a base license of additional 50 access point.
the base license is already purchase, is there any workaround to do this?
please check attachment to see the error
    Thanks,
    Elie

    Hi,
If WCS is licensed for the feature type - PLUS,  only PLUS licenses can be added.
Whereas the license file you're trying to add is a BASE license which can't be stacked on top of a PLUS license. Hence the error reported by
    thus the error.
For ex , WCS-PLUS-50 for plus while WCS-APBASE-50 is for base.

  • WCS: Template Order in Config Group

    Hello,
I'm trying to deploy a larger wireless lan installation using a WCS 7.0 with current controller versions.
Further I created configuration templates for deployment using a Config-Group.
The problem of the deployment with Config-Groups are apparently the order in which I run the templates. Some templates require the radio network or an SSID to be disabled for the template execution.
So what are my options here, when I want to change something in my radio policy or some parameters in an active SSID. A manual "disable"?
The wcs config-guide 7.0 says the following:
"The order of the templates is important when  dealing with radio templates. For example, if the template list includes  radio templates that require the radio network to be disabled prior to  applying the radio parameters, the template to disable the radio network  must be added to the template first".
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/7.0/configuration/guide/7_0mobile.html
I think they meant "....to disable the radio network  must be added to the config-group first".
This works. I can choose, which template is added first.
But the problem is, after I save my selection of templates in the config-group the order is sorted and my order is lost.
Does someone have experience with that? What is the best way to deploy a config-group? Is it neccessary to disable all radios and WLANs manually prior to the execution of the config-group?
    Kind Regards,
    Florian

    Hi,
    Nice post!!
    So as per the documentation..
"The order of the templates is important when   dealing with radio templates. For example, if the template list  includes  radio templates that require the radio network to be disabled  prior to  applying the radio parameters, the template to disable the  radio network  must be added to the template first".
This means.. we need to push the template first to disable the Radios and then use the Config-groups.. are we doing the same??
While doing the above are facing any issues with losing the config-group list?? Make sure we are pushing the template first and then the config-groups.
lemme know if this answered your question..
    Regards
    Surendra

  • Ordering the wlse to WCS converion CD with 100 LAPS support

I am getting the below message when i tried to order the convertion product WCS-WLSE-APB-100 Option WLSE To WCS 100 AP. License And CD. N/A $4,796-
    1. You are only eligible for a WCS-WLSE SKU if you have the WLSE 1130-19 and 1133 platforms. These SKUs can only be installed and run on the WLSE 1130-19 and 1133 Platforms.
Why can't i order the above said product enen though that is found in cisco Global price list.
It is very urgent issue to be resolved to order the product
    Please looking for your suggestions.
    swamy

    Hi Bobby:
Yes, in order to run WCS versions beyond 4.2, you'll need a Red Hat upgrade on a converted WLSE.  Because the conversion process brought Red Hat provided by Cisco, the converted WLSE is indeed an appliance (it's just not called that) and Cisco does indeed provide the Red Hat upgrade.  You can open a service request with TAC and they'll post the ISO image of the Red Hat upgrade CD for you, or give me your Cisco.com ID and I'll post it for you without an SR.
As for your proposed upgrade path, if this was *my* WCS installation to address, I'd go:
4.1.83.0 to 4.2.128.0 then run Data Cleanup
    4.2.128.0 to 6.0.181.0
    6.0.181.0 to 7.0.164.0
Long and short, avoiding some bugs and letting 4.2 executables clean a 4.2 database before exiting the train, then bypassing 5.* altogether.

  • Migrate from WCS 7.0 to Prime Infrastructure 1.2

    Hi All,
I am looking for advice on the licensing and upgrade path for going from WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2.
At present I have a WCS licensed for 200 APs which is  managing one controller and 150 APs.
I intend to use the Cisco Prime Upgrade Promotion
to order R-W-PI12-M-K9 (WCS 7.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Migration)
and L-W-PI12-100-M and L-W-PI12-100-M to match the number of licenses on the WCS.
Once Prime is installed I also want to manage another 50 devices, does that mean I have to purchase the
Cisco PI 1.2 Base License and Software (R-PI12-Base-K9) and another 50 Lifecycle licenses, or will
my existing 200 licenses from the upgrade suffice.
Sorry if it's confusing, but I didn't invent the licensing structure just trying to make sense of it all.
    TIA

You'll be able to manage up to 200 devices/APs simpy using the upgrade from WCS to PI 1.2 as you described it. No need to order another base license or 50 lifecycle licenses.

    1) I need to activate and set L-PILMS42-1K-M or enough to activate and set R-PI12-BASE-K9 and L-PI12-LF-1K-LIC?
    2) I can install Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 and set R-PI12-BASE-K9 and L-PI12-LF-1K-LIC or need to install CPI 1.3 and then update to CPI 2.0?
Please help me with this problem.

    You'll need to activate
    R-W-PI12-M-K9,
    R-PI12-BASE-K9,
    L-PI12-LF-1K-LIC,
    L-W-PI12-1K-M
    but not
    L-PILMS42-1K-M
In order to get to 2.0 from WCS 7.0::
You'll need to migrate your data from WCS to NCS as shown in the link below
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-26973
Then upgrade NCS to Prime 2.0
    Or
You can simply export your maps from WCS then import them into a newly built Prime 2.0 server once you've added the controllers.
The 2nd option is a whole lot easier and a whole lot faster but any customization you've done in WCS like special reports, added users to access the browser and other mods like TACACs settings as well as performance datawon't come over but if you're intested in just getting the maps and AP placement, go this route

  • Can I migrate from WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2. If so, what are the guidelines for migration?

Can I migrate from WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2. If so, what are the guidelines for migration? Do we have any Instructions/steps?

Migration from WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2 can be  performed. If the customer wants to migrate data you need to first upgrade to  NCS 1.1.1  You can download NCS 1.1.1 from Cisco.com if you have a valid service  contract.
For the migration step involving NCS an evaluation license is  sufficient.  You can obtain an NCS evaluation license from http://www.cisco.com/go/license >  Get Demo > Network Mgmt Products > Cisco Prime NCS Evaluation License.
Instructions for migrating data from WCS 7.0 to NCS 1.1.1 are available in  NCS 1.1.1 Release Notes.  Do not upgrade to NCS 1.1.2 as this release is not  upgradeable to Prime Infrastructure 1.2.  If you are ordering a Cisco Prime  physical appliance (PRIME-NCS-APL-K9) be sure to select the NCS 1.1 image which  you can later upgrade to Prime Infrastructure 1.2 after you have migrated your  WCS data.
There is a post in the support forum which can be refered.

  • Error authentication user in WCS about Human Tasks

    Hi All,
We developed a BPM workflow and 4 human task(HT) in ADF and using WCS for accessing the tasks of the human workflow.
We are working using the virtual machine soabpm-vm 11.1.1.6 ps5, downloaded by the Oracle Web Site.
I created a space in WCS, based on the BPM-Workspace templace present in the WCS.
I was able to execute the process and the HT without any problem.
I am adding security to all the 4 HT following the indication about ADF security, using the ADF wizard in jdeveloper.(see Oracle WebCenter 11g Handbook chapter 18, page 421)
    After implementing the following choices:
    1)ADF Authentication and Authorization
    2)HTTP Client Authentication
    3)No Automatict Grants
4)Either for WebPAge, Either for taskflow i have enabled the view privileges for viewing the page or executing the task flow.
    5) I linked the valid-users with a groups in my realm(AdmiServer)
I tested all the security implemented with BPM worspace application (https://hostname:7002/bpm/workspace)  and it is working correctly.
If i test it within webCenterSpace the HT are not working. When i click on the HT i got the following error:
    Error 401  Unauthorized
The request requires user authentication. The response MUST include a WWW-Authenticate header field (section 14.46) containing a challenge applicable to the requested resource. The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable Authorization header field (section 14.8). If the request already included Authorization credentials, then the 401 response indicates that authorization has been refused for those credentials. If the 401 response contains the same challenge as the prior response, and the user agent has already attempted authentication at least once, then the user SHOULD be presented the entity that was given in the response, since that entity MAY include relevant diagnostic information. HTTP access authentication is explained in section 11.
    This is what is happening:
I  logged in into WebCenterSpace with the user credentials (Username pwd). I am correctly authorized and identified.
I later click on the HT and the user is not propagate as the logs say that anonymous user try to access to the HT.
Why there is this different behavior between WCS and BPM worspace application?
Can i have same indication about what to do in order to get the HT working in the WCS?
    Regards Piero

    Hi Praveen,
To fix this issue, you need to change the Identity of your website's Application Pool to use the
NetworkService account (or the less secure LocalSystem account).  By default, IIS7 seems to set the Application Pools Identity to 'ApplicationPoolIdentity' instead of NetworkService or LocalSystem.
Here's a step-by-step guide for determining your websites Application Pool, then changing its Process Model Idenitty in IIS7:
1.Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manger.
2.In the Connections sidebar, drill down into Default Web Site and click on your website.
3.Now in the Actions sidebar (on right side), click on Advance Settings... In the popup box, under General you will see your Application Pool listed for your website (in my case the app pool is: ASP.NET V4.0).
4.Click Cancel...  If you choose, you can change the Application Pool here, but for the sake of this example we just wanted to find out what the website's App Pool was.
Then change the app pool's (Process Model) Identity to 'NetworkService', the steps are showed as below:
1.Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manger.
2.In the Connections sidebar, click on Application Pools.
3.Now right-click on theApplication Pool that your website is using (in this case my site is using the ASP.NET v4.0 application pool), and select Advanced Settings... from the menu.
4.In the Advanced Settings pop-up box, locate the Process Model -> Identity section and click on the Application Pool Identity.
5.In the Application Pool Identity pop-up box, change the Built-in account to NetworkService (or if you want LocalSystem), then click OK, and click OK again to save your Advanced Settings changes.
    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards,

I have done the upload of the XML File from our WCS 7.0 installation to get the License File. But on the NCS 1.1 installation the following License is needed first (Cisco Prime Network Control System 1.1 Config Guide):
NoteBefore adding the licenses that are migrated from your WCS installation, apply the L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 license. The licenses migrated from WCS are generated as “ADD” licenses, and you cannot apply them unless you apply the L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 license.
L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 is the Product Number to do the upgrade from WCS 7.0 to NCS 1.0, R-WCS-PI11-M-K9 is the product number to dothe upgrade from WCS 7.0 to NCS/PI 1.1.
If I try to install just the License File I get from Cisco using the XML file from our WCS 7.0 installation, I get the error "Unable to add any license without an NCS (L-NCS-1.0-K9) license.".
But how do a get this license if I ordered R-W-PI12-M-K9 (WCS 7.0 to PI1.2 Upgrade License)? What is the step to get the right License?
Many thanks in advance for any help on that issue.
    Best regards,
    Hans

    Hello Joe,
no. The information in the deployment Guide (the link i proveded before) is wrong.
You still need to follow the upgrade path WCS 7.0 -> NCS 1.1 (here you have to use for example 1.1.1.24, because 1.1.2.12 cannot be upgraded to PI 1.2), then you can upgrade NCS 1.1 to PI 1.2 (if you upgraded the WCS to NCS 1.1.1.24 you need to install a patch ncs_patch-1.1.1.24-upgrade-12.gz, for other 1.1 releases you need a different patch).
The major problem was the licensing. Because with the order of the Upgrade Licenses from WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2 I got "normal licenses", for PI 1.2, a Base License and Lifecycle Licenses (the number of Lifecycle Licenses matches the number from the order).
Because we ordered the WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2 Upgrade Licenses I also ordered the NCS Appliance with the PI 1.2 (before I thought a direct upgrade from WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2 should be possibel, why not, if you can order the licenses with the description Upgrade License WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2 :-)). So I had to downgrade the NCS Appliance to NCS 1.1. After the downgrade the NCS Appliance came up without any licenses. So the major porblem was that I could not use the PI 1.2 licenses (they are not installable on NCS 1.1). So I got a demo/temporary license from Cisco for NCS 1.1 to do just the migration. After the final upgrade to PI 1.2 I installed the base and the lifecycle licenses and now everything is fine.
    Best regards,
    Hans
