.ORF RAW files (taken with an Olympus E-M5 camera)

Is it possible to open .ORF files with Adobe. I can edit the files with the software that came with the camera but it is not as intuitive as PSE 11. I've been told that PSE 13 is compatible with these files, but I don't want to buy a new version of PSE.

The OM-D E-M5 should be supported by PSE 11.
If you are referring to the OM-D E-M5 II then that requires PSE 13 plus latest updates.
If you don't want to upgrade your PSE, you could download the free Adobe DNG converter. You then use that to convert the ORF files to DNG files which can then be processed by PSE 11.

I am unable to import Raw files taken with my new camera Canon SX60HS.

I am running Elements 12, I have just downloaded and installed Adobe Camera Raw v 8.7.1 as it indicates that it supports raw files taken with this camera model. I continue to get the error that nothing imported as it did not contain supported file types. Do I have to do something further to connect this ACR program to Elements in order to have it work or am I missing something else.

The SX-60 HS requires ACR 8.7, and PSE12 is only compatible up to ACR 8.5, so you’ll either need to upgrade Elements or use the DNG Converter 8.7 or newer to convert a folder of raw files to DNG files, and then those DNG files will open in your older ACR.

Is there a fix in the works that will allow me to open RAW files taken with my Nikon D3200?

Actually the 7.1 camera raw update covers the D3200, but for whatever reason adobe has denied users of pse 10 that update.
Maybe it will still be released, but to me something else seems to be up, because in the past the latest version of elements (at least on windows) was always updated
to the latest version of camera raw at the same time photoshop was.
In the meantime you could download the 7.1 DNG converter to convert your files to dng copies which will then open in pse 10.

I know this stinks, but other than using the camera makers or aftermarket raw programs (lightroom), that's the best i can suggest for now.

Accessing raw file taken with Canon Powershot G16 using Elements 11

I own adobe photoshop elements 11, which I have used successfully for the past 18 months or so with my Canon Powershot G15 camera. I recently upgraded to the Canon Powershot G16 but was disappointed to find that elements 11 does not recognise the raw files taken with the G16. I have tried various intenet forum fixes to no avail. I would rather not go to the expense of purchasing Photoshop Elements 12 to remedy this shortcoming, particularly as Elements 11 more than meets my current photoediting needs. I would be grateful for information on any patches etc that might allow me to access raw files taken with the G16 without have to resort to purchasing Elements 12.

after much consternation I have discovered that the problem is APERTURE. Despite claiming that the program is compatible with the G16 RAW files it really is NOT. I had to download Canon's own photoediting and viewing software....and guess what no problem at all editing, viewing any of the files.
I tried them in Lightroom too and guess what...no problem at all!
So although Aperture has been like an old friend it is time to say bye bye and make the big trek over the Lightroom!
Sad but relieved.

Until the next version of Lightroom is released, you need to use the DNG Converter version 8.7RC to convert your RAW photos to DNG and then import the DNGs into Lightroom.

I cannot open raw files taken with my Canon Mark III in CS5

I am running CS5 on a newer computer (2012)... Every time I try to edit raw images taken with my Canon Mark III, a text box appears alerting me that my camera model is not supported by camera raw. I have tried various updates and software installations, but I have been unsuccessful in remedying the problem. Can anyone help or tell me what update/ software to download? I apologize if this thread already exists.

Canon Mark III do you mean Canon 1D Mark III or Canon 1DS Mark III or Canon 5D Mark III ???
In any case CS 5 ACR update 6.7 should handle all those cameras.

Can PSE 12 open and process Camera Raw pictures taken with Canon GIX Mk. 2 camera?

I have bought a new Canon GI X Mk. 2 camera. I consider to update my Photoshop Elements 9 to new the newest 12 version, but I will only do that if the PSE 12 can manage Camera Raw pictures taken with my new camera. Can anyone help?

Yes, but you will have to install the Camera Raw 8.5 or later update. Go to Help > Updates to start the update process. You can verify what version of Camera Raw you have installed by going to Help (Win) or Photoshop Elements (Mac) > About Plug-in > Camera Raw.

Raw 7 is compatible with Cs6 version of Adobe software, not with CS4.

You can use the DNG converter with the CS4 to open this files, I think that will be the best option.

Hi, I have shot few pictures on 31st December night in RAW mode using Nikon D800 and Sandisk extreme plus 32GB SDHC card. It looks like card got some memory errors so not able to transfer the files from Card to computer. However I am able to view the pics thru Lightroom ver 4.4 Library, but when I tried to import them, it gives me an error stating that file can't be read.
Is there a way to save the pics from Library window in lightroom overcoming the card read errors ?

Thank you for your response. Here is the error message I am receiving, I tried with various destination folders in the computer but it still gives the same error:. Just to let you know, I am able to import pictures into these folders from other memory cards.

I cannot open raw file shot with canon 20d. I get an error message.

I recently used a 50d camera and shot in raw +jpeg. Downloaded into computer. Was able to view jpeg but was unable to view raw version.At first I attributed this to needing software update for 50d. I'm sure the problem will get sorted out soon enough, but it does illustrate why Camera Raw and Lightroom insist on using sidecar data files for raw formats other than DNG. DNG was designed with flexible internal storage of metadata in mind, and now Lightroom and Bridge offer conversion to DNG as part of their photo-import processes. (For what it's worth, on my MacBook Pro, converting an 8MP CR2 file to DNG takes roughly 1-1.5 seconds--not a bad price for portability & reduced file size.)

This refers to problems using Microsoft software and Vista, not Adobe software and Vista. I believe it is saying that Adobe properly handles both .nef and .dng files. I have no idea how this quote relates to this thread at all.

Does not import ORF raw files

Photo's does not support Olympus ORF raw files. At least not the latest M5 MkII camera raw files. Its a brand new program why is it not up to date with Oly raw files.

I have Photoshop Elements 10. It appears that I need a plugin to upload RAW files and the plugin necessary for my new Olympus E-M10 is not compatible with version 10. Am I getting this right? Do I have to buy a new version of Photoshop Elements just to upload RAW files from my new Olympus E-M10? Otherwise, what I have is all that I need.

Which operating system are you using?
If your using mac os x 10.6 (snow leopard) or windows xp or vista, then the below solution will not work and you shouldn't try to install the dng converter 8.5
You could use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your files to dng copies which should then open in pse 10.
