Organization skipped songs in album

I let iTunes organize my music. Many songs are not with the album. How do I move the songs to the proper location in the correct album? Assistance appreciated. Otherwise, I'll have to start over and do albums manually.

Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.

  • Last song on albums not matching?

    Anyone else had this happen?
Seems 70 percent of my non matching songs, are strangely the last songs on the albums.
This has happened with songs I originally ripped from CDs, downloaded from iTunes,
as well as Amazon and other stores.
I've been told they could be corrupt? If so, any reason the last tracks would be more likely to be corrupt
    than any others?
    Thanks
    G

It may be because of the new way to organize the songs in iTunes. If you go to your library in iTunes, at the top right, you will see 3 view selections. Click the middle one. This organizes the songs by album. Pick a random album, write down the order of the songs, and compare it to the order on your iPod. Just a thought.

  • I download songs from my dropbox to my macbook pro and then upload them to my updated iTunes.  iTunes plays them in entirety, but when i update my iTunes match, my iPhone and iPad skip many of the songs and albums.  Why?  I have tried everything.

If you have manually manage set, you do not sync.

  • 160GB Classic is skipping songs and entier albums, sometimes locking up for no reason.

I newly purchased a 160GB iPod classic to replace my 3-year+ old 16GB touch. I found myself wanting more storrage to music and less of games and apps, so it was a no brainer. Anyway, there have been many problem to come with this item and now I'm not sure if I want the pain and agervation that comes with the classic.
Just today I noticed tracks in my playlist would skip. Sometimes the song would never play or the song would get 30-50 seconds in and just skip to the nest. All these problems are on a full-album scale: if one track has this problem, then they all do. Also, mor recently, the iPod has been locking up on me. Even when I just go to connect it to my PC with the USB cable, it will lock-up right when connection is made which will force me to do a device reset. I know the classic is HDD based and not flash memory, but, I can assure you, I've been very careful with it. I always am with my stuff.
I tried to remody these issues with a factory reset thorugh iTunes but this just seemed to make it worse. I've even had iTunes to my iPod is corrucpt and needs to be factory reset.
Should I just take it back while I still can and exchange it for a (maybe?) working version?
    Thanks!

Skipping songs are due to corrupted MP3 tag headers, so no point in getting a new iPod, you just need to get your music in your iTunes library fixed by a free 3rd Party software called MP3 validator.
Google it and run for all your music in the library.
    Good Luck!

  • Is there a way to search for skipped songs in my iTunes library?

I'd like to know whether there's a quicker way to find songs that are being skipped in my iTunes library, than simply manually checking each one.  I've been rearranging and deleting music files in Windows Explorer recently, so I know that there is a chance that I have demolished the link iTunes had to some of the files, but there's no way I can remember what all the modified albums are.  I know how to reestablish the links when I do find a song that is being skipped, but I'd love to go through the whole library and be able to find them all at once.
The last time I did this, manually - and it seemed to take hours - I did find quite a lot of songs that were being skipped, and was able to reestablish the links or in some cases just delete the song from iTunes since i hadn't wanted it anyway.  But even then it was a little hard, since after manually checking in the quickest way I could - going through the song list and briefly playing each one for a second or fraction of a second - there was no way of sorting the songs by whether they were skipped or not.  I just had to be very careful as I scrolled, to catch each one that had the symbol indicating non-playability.
All that to say - is there some better, automatic way of searching for non-playable, skipped songs, and is there some way of sorting them out from the rest so one can address them, and not miss any?

Same question. Used to have an iPod. Lost it (best digital player ever), now I use other portable device. The mp3 files have their id3tag edited in the original file, but the .m4a don't!.
Want to know someway to write the info from the library to the original .m4a files.

  • IPod was skipping songs. So I did a "restore".  Now it won't sync

OK, my iPod was skipping songs. I'd play an album, it would try and play some songs, skip them one at a time. it was probably failing about 30% of the time.
So, I thought I'd try to "Restore" the iPod, and then sync it.
Restore worked great. It wiped out the iPod of all my music. Then when I tried to perform the sync, it gets about 250 songs into it, and then fails. iTunes says that it is still syncing, but it never gets past that point. Continually syncing forever.
I don't know what I can do here (aside of buying a new iPod -- that suggestion is not helpful, btw). Before I had an iPod that played about 2/3 of its songs. Now 95% of my songs are just gone.
Everyone says not to run Disk Utility on the thing, but I'm extremely tempted. But I'm at a total loss here. Any ideas?

Bump for the answer because I also have same case.

  • Songs on album are out of order on iPod

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my 4th generation iPod to a 30GB video iPod. With some albums, the songs will be out of order on the iPod (i.e. songs 1, 6, and 8 will come before the rest). The only thing I've been able to figure out thats different is the file type (AAF vs. MP3, for example). Is there any way to have the iPod organize the songs in order of track number instead of file type?

If they will not load in the correct order under all songs, one work around is to create a playlist and you can put them in any order you want.

  • Classic 20gb Ipod - Skipping songs

Recently, my 20 GB iPod classic has started skipping songs randomly. For example, when I try to play a playlist or album, it will skip through the songs one by one until the playlist/album is completed, without actually playing any of the songs. Has anyone had a similar problem and had success in fixing this? Or is my iPod shot and it is time to get a new one? Thanks in advance.

The songs on the ipod are damaged. Tyr restoring it with the latest ipod updater, more on restoring can be found here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983

  • Ipod Skipping Songs

I bought a new 80 GB iPod classic back in January, and I noticed that when I'm listening to it on shuffle, it might get to a song, wait a few seconds and then skip the song. I also tried playing an album on my iPod and it skipped every song. These songs work just fine on iTunes, and the album I played was bought brand new, and has always worked otherwise. Does anyone else have this problem? Should I trade my iPod in for a new one?
    Thanks.

Have you tried encoding at different speeds?
    If not try this:
First off check the original encoding speed. This can be done by selecting the glitched song, right clicking and choosing the "Get Info" option and the bit-rate (encoding speed) will be in the summary tab. After you check the current encoding speed the settings for importing music into iTunes may need to be changed. You can change these by going into the "Edit > Preferences ~ Advanced tab > Importing tab" once here simply change the box labeled "Import Using" from "AAC Encoder" to "MP3 Encoder". Now all that needs to be done is to change the bit-rate. Choose one of the bit-rates from the "Setting" box that is different from the current bit-rate of the skipping song. Once the setting is chosen click "Ok" and then go to the "Advanced" menu and there should be an option to "Convert Selection to MP3". Now it is as simple as selecting the affected song and then going into the advanced menu and choosing the "Convert Selection to MP3" option to fix your glitched tunes! Every song that is converted using this will be encoded with the bit-rate chosen in the earlier stages.
Hopefully this helps, good luck re-encoding =)

  • Skipping songs - AGAIN!

I purchased my 4th generation iPod a little over a year ago. About 7 months after I bought it, it started skipping random songs and eventually the hard drive crashed. Because it was still under warranty, I took it in and they replaced it with a refurbished iPod.
Now, less than 1 year later, I am having the SAME PROBLEM and am just waiting for the hard drive to crash again. I paid to extend my warranty for another 2 years because I had a feeling this wouldn't be the only problem that I had with it, but this is ridiculous!! Has anyone else had this problem?
To be honest, if & when this iPod dies, I'll get another refurbished one, simply because I have the warranty and I don't have to pay for it but that is the only reason. Apple won't ever be getting my money for another one of their products again. Re-uploading all 5000 songs more than twice in a little over a year? I'll pass.

    iPod skipping
    songs?
For those of you who get zero playtime from songs
(i.e. it doesn't even start the song before starting
    the next one) try this:
    Resetting the
    iPod
and if that does not work, this:
    Restoring the
    iPod
For those of you whose songs are skipping after
getting partway through the song, two questions.
Did you rip these songs from CD's you own? If so,
    try reripping the affected songs.
Are the songs that are skipping iTMS store files? If
so, we'd like to know the following, because there
may be a problem with the song file:
1.) Song Name, Album, and Artist
2.) iPod Model (iPod mini [4 gig or 6 gig], iPod Nano
[2 gig or 4 gig], iPod [size and generation])
3.) iPod firmware (this can be found under
    Extras>About>Version)
    Thanks,
    JC
I wish you would stop posting this as a solution. It does not work.
I now have three iPods. Just picked up a Nano. On the Nano, the songs that skip on my other two iPods do not skip on the Nano.
I have restored and reset the other iPods a few times each. Both by USB connection and Firewire, just to make sure that it wasn't my connection.
There is a genuine problem here and resetting the device offers no solution.
It's Apple's problem to fix. This did not start occurring until they sent out a software update.

  • Ipod mini skips songs

I have a 4g mini that started rapidly skipping song as soon as itunes updated to v6. I hoped v7 would fix it but not luck. I've tried restoring and it works for a little while but after about a week it starts again. It usually happens with purchased music only.

I just started having this problem too after I updated from version 4 of itunes to version 7 b/c it forced me to in order to purchase an album on the itunes store. I was able to play the entire album for a couple of weeks but now it starts to skip all the songs and even when I try to select it, it will not play (this occurs with other itunes purchased songs as well). Were you able to fix the issue? When I plug my ipod into the computer it says the software is up to date. I tried resetting it twice but it's still skipping. Help, anyone??

  • ITunes Skipping Songs/Part Songs

    Hi,
I purchased an Apple iPod 3-4 years ago and loaded music into iTunes and purchased songs from the iTunes store.
Late 2007 I started experiencing problems with songs starting then skipping partly through and moving on to the next song. This occured both for uploaded music and songs purchased from the store.
I put this down to a fault with my iPod and so purchased a new iPod Touch at the start of 2008. I sync'd with my existing iPod account and have the same library but the problem persisted. It also appears to be progressive in that a song that played okay last week won't play okay this week. Once it starts skipping it is "fixed" i.e. the song will always skip from that same point in all future playbacks.
I have done a reset on my iTouch but the problem persists - which suggests to me it is iTunes-based, in that it has happened on two separate machines tied to the iTunes account.
Interestingly there is no skipping problem when I play affected songs through iTunes on my Dell PC.
Any suggestions as to what is happening? And importantly on how I rectify it? It is extremely frustrating.
    Thanks
    Peter

I just want to add to this concern that my iTunes also skips and it would be nice to get a little bit of help on this.
iTunes it skipped songs i.e. a song will play halfway through and then skips to the next song.
    1) This problem is usually limited to all songs in a particular albums. One of them, for example, is in MPEG-1, Layer 3 format. Media Kind set to Music and other options unchecked.
    2) A similar yet different problem I have is that some albums play fine under iTunes but the skipping problem occurs under iPod. For example, I have a language course album, so I've tried under Media Kind = Music or Audiobook, but the problems remains

  • Why does the music app on my phone keep skipping songs?

My music app on my iPhone 4S keeps skipping songs. It will show the album
cover for a second then it will skip right to the next song and sometimes it will
skip multiple songs. For example, once it skipped over an entire playlist and
went to the screen at the end when it showed all of the songs in the playlist.
I have update 6.0.1 and I haven't used the music app since the last update.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Mine is 18.2Mb it gets to about 37mb tops, Try logging out of the app, remove all apps that are running in the background then shut your phone down and restart, if that does not work hold the power and home button and do a hard reset. You shouldnt loose any data at all but make sure you back up anyway before hand, its just like a forced reboot of a computer really.
