Organize application folders

Hi All,
I have more sites, sites have some users, and each user has separate application folder
What I want is put application folder in a defined folder like following
C:\FMIS\siteA\applications\user1
C:\FMIS\siteA\applications\user2
C:\FMIS\siteB\applications\user1
C:\FMIS\siteB\applications\user2
etc...
I think for this I need to create virtual hosts,
I am having some troubles,
Can someone help me how to do it
Thanks
Nurbek

Can you detailed out your use case , i mean why do you want seperate applications folder for each user. I mean I am not able to understand why one would want to have seperate applications folder for each user.
Creating seperate vhosts for sites makes sense. So each site will have seperate applications directory by configuring vhost.xml of each vhost.
If you intend to have different app logic based on user then you can make user connect to different instances of same application and code to trigger different code paths at server-side code.
If you intend to stream or record files at different location, you can configure VirtualDirectories.
I mean it would be better if you describe you use case properly and in detail so that i can help you out.

  • Please Help:  Lost Acrobat 8 Organizer Collection Folders when installing Acrobat 9

I guess it should have been obvious...but after installing Acrobat 9 Pro...from version 8 Pro...all of my Organizer collections are not there at all....gone. (I have the old \organizer70 folder on a backup)
When looking under: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0....There is a FILE called: Organizer90. (no directory, like in 8.1)
Is there ANY way to import or convert acrobat 8 Organizer collections to acrobat 9???? - or any other way to restore my organizer collection folders? - I have a few hundred of them...and I can't afford to start over....I'm desperate! :)
This (conversion) should have been obvious when upgrading. I even tried copying the directory from 8 into the same subdirectory as 9...but no luck.
If someone knows...PLEASE let me know....I even tried a repair install to no avail.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for answering.... :)
This is unbelieveable.....it's like they just ignored folks who love the organizer.
That's really what makes it worth it to me.
    Ok...
Is there anyway to copy the History file(s)...from Acrobat 8 to 9?
I figure....I clear the history in 8....then open up a collection folder's multiple files at one time....you know, to establish a new history of files for this day....on another PC....then copy that file to my PC...and put it in Acrobat 9's place. Hoping that Acrobat 9 will open the history files...which I can then save as a new collection in the Organizer...and rename the folder the same as I had it named in Acrobat 8.
If you can tell me how to copy the history file from 8 to 9...I'd appreciate it....
Hehe...sorry to sound so desperate...but I am... :)......I have a few hundred folders...and that's the only way...by copying the history and making new collection folders...that I can think of.
    Thanks Again,
    Rick...

  • PSE 8.0 : Organizer application was closed unexpectedly

    Hello,
I use PSE 4.0 on Windows XP SP3 to manage more than 64,000 photos
Since I have over 60000 pictures, I have many crashes of PSE 4.0.
    So I downloaded PSE 8.0.
    I have 3 environments photos:
1: All the photos (about 64,000 photos)
      2: Tests (approximately 1,300 photos)
      3: Archives (about 1,700 photos)
The conversion of the catalog "Tests" was conducted smoothly and response times are ok: open PSE 8.0 and display 1,300 thumbnails by 8 seconds, development or reduction of a category in less than a second, memory occupancy below 15% in searches.
The conversion of the catalog "Archives" was performed without problem, but PSE 8.0 was closed during the generation of thumbnails with the message: "Adobe has detected that the Elements Organizer application was closed unexpectedly" with a fault report that I sent to Adobe (no response to date after more than a week).
I restarted Organizer and it ended well.
But now the response times are extremely long: open PSE 8.0 and display of the 1700 thumbnails in 58 seconds, development or reduction of a category in 15 seconds, memory occupancy above 95% constantly.
By viewing the Windows Task Manager, I noticed that the Organizer has almost 100% of memory when it is open and it takes about 1 minute after closing the display PSE.
I deleted the catalog, uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 8.0, and make a new conversion with always the same crash.
I deleted all the photos of catalog, keeping only the tags (about 1,700), with always the same crash : do I have too many tags ?
Someone had already this problem ?
    Thank you for your responses.

Ok for the « normal » trial message, allthough …
    A couple of thoughts :
    - I waited 12 to 18 hours to finish generating the thumbnails.
    - All the auto-analyzer and automatic people recognition are disabled
    - I’ve discovered in “pse-conversion-log_Photos.txt” 4 messages : “logic_error, unable to reorder version set” with versions stacks. So, I’ve suppressed the 4 photos concerned (poison files ?) in the versions stacks of PSE 4.0 and I will convert my catalog another time.
    - With every crash, a file log is generated, that I send to Adobe, as asked. I attach to this message file "Adobe8 crash1.doc" which contains a copy of the message display Adobe and content of the file generated after 6 hours 30 of thumbnails generation.
Thank you again for your interest in my problem.

  • Organizer applications not supported

    Hello,
I recently upgraded my PC (Windows 7/Microsoft Office 2010) and have installed the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Software v7.1.  The smartphone (Torch 9810) and the PC recogonize each other however when I go to configure the organizer settings a message pops up saying "The organizer applications on your computer are not supported".  I am trying to configure Microsoft Outlook 2010 however it seems like it doesn't know it's there.  I have unistalled and reinstalled the Desktop software, rebooted numerous times and the message keeps popping up.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Since you say it's 2010, this KB came to mind:
KB24040 Support for Microsoft Office 2010 Click-to-Run installation
    See if that applies.

  • 2 Application Folders

I migrated all of the data from my school owned ibook (g4, 1.2 Ghz) to an ibook that I purchased and I currently have two application folders. One is located under the "Macintosh HD" tab on my sidebar, and the second is located under my "user" tab. The App folder under the user tab contains the "generic" applications from Apple (for the most part) - address book, safari, automator, utilities ect. Applications that I have added to my computer are listed under the Macintosh HD tab (whenever I download a program it seeks out and finds the Application folder under Macintosh HD.
There is a subfolder for "user" which contains a Library folder.
There is a subfolder listed under "Mac HD" which is labeled Library as well as one labeled System. Under that System folder is another folder labeled Library.
    My question is:
Should I consolidate those Application folders and library folders? Are they taking up additional space? Would there be duplicate data in those library folders?
Thanks in advance for the help.
    ibook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

The applications in /Applications are the applications that are available to ALL users. The applications folder in your Home folder are applications that are available only to YOU.
The Application folder in your (~)Home folder is not necessary. You can move any apps that are not duplicated in /Applications to that /Applications folder and do away with the ~/Applications folder. Just be sure you don't overwrite any newer apps with older ones.
Also best to backup that ~/Applications folder before you start.
EDIT: Don't touch the ~/Library folder. Or any other Library folder.

  • Why the duplicate Applications folders and which one(s) can I trash?

I've tried to disregard the duplicate Applications folders on my HD and double Mail programs in my dock but would like to trash any I don't need (I'm the only user of my machine). I see that there's an Applications folder in my HD icon (under "Devices"); an Applications folder in my Finder window (under "Places"), and an Applications folder accessible by clicking on my name in the Finder window (also under "Places"). Although it appears there are 3 Applications folders / Mail programs, a search in Finder suggests there are actually 2: one is traceable to HD (hard disk); the other is traceable to my name. Which of these is "safe" to trash? (I don't understand why my Finder must contain two Applications folders--frequently resulting in the appearance of duplicate Mail programs in my dock. Any clarification/suggestions appreciated. Cap

Thanks. That helps me with the concept, and I see that there can only be one "real" Applications folder which is under Devices and labeled Macintosh HD. Perhaps what I'm trying to say is that the below that, in the Places area, the programs in the "Applications" of my "Home Folder" (the little house followed by my name) don't agree with the programs in the "Applications" folder right underneath it. The latter Applications Folder agrees with the one on my Hard Drive, it has the new iTunes program, etc. whereas the programs in the Applications Folder of my Home Folder are different (the old iTunes program, etc.). I guess I'm saying that the Applications Folders of my Hard Drive and of my Home Folder are at odds. I'm simply going to try following your idea--drag the Applications Folder from my Home Folder onto the desktop, replace it with the Applications Folder from my Hard Drive, then go through the eternity of trashing the old Home Folder Applications Folder
that will by now be copied on my Desktop. (Wish I new of a faster way of trashing the many programs.) I'll let you know if it works. Thanks again, Cap

  • PSE9 - organizer -  move folders

    Hi,
I have a problem with moving folders to another in Organizer. After the move, the content of moved folder has random pictures in it!
    What's wrong?
    Thanks for a solution

That's exactly how I did it - but the result was a mess up of the content.
Could it be, that my catalog is corrupt or that PSE9 cannot handle my < 10'000 pictures?
I've ran a optimize/repair of the catalog, but the result is still the same.  The catalog I'm using is from an old PC with PSE4. I've used backup/restore to move to this new PC. Unfortunately, with Backup/Restore the whole folder structure is flat now - so I wanted to correct this and would like to organize my folders with a better structure.
Another thing I've noticed, that (still in folder view of the organizer) I have many folders greyed out - how can I delete them? Could this be a reason for the problems with move?
    Thanks and kind regards
    Kurt

  • Can I change the location of adobe organizer file folders in Elements 11 from my c to d drive ?

Can I change the location of adobe organizer file folders in Elements 11 from my c to d drive ?
My laptop, which uses Windows 7, came with the hard drive divided between a C and D drive.  the C drive, where all the programs load, is nearly full, and I would like all the photos and videos that adobe elements organizer finds and that I download into load on my nearly empmty and spacious D drive.
In other programs I can change this is file prefernces, but I cant find that feature in elements.
Is it possible? and how can I do it?

    Team Ben Hur
SG will probably have more to say about his reply, but in the meanwhile you might want to check out Premiere Elements 11/Elements Organizer 11/File Menu/Catalog Manager... and the Custom Location option. I suspect that is what both of you have in mind?
When Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 are installed on the same computer, they share a common Elements Organizer (catalog) although they can be purchased as standalone products each with its own Elements Organizer (catalog).

  • I have multiple application folders for some reason

    Hi,
I have recently upgraded to lion, and i noticed i had duplicate applications.  When i looked on my search bar under the title 'applications' six different application folders were seen is this normal?

I have the same problem - I've had it several times since I bought an iMac (27" solid state hard drive) in summer last year.I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. At one point I had Application folders nested to four levels!
These are NOT aliases - I only discovered the problem when my hard drive was running out of space!
I have certainly not done anything to cause this to happen (I am a very experienced Mac user).
Deleting the nested folders has had no ill effects (although I did have problems with emptying the Trash for a while).
Not really a problem, except in that it might be symptomatic of something seriously wrong with the system.

  • Two Library and Application Folders

I have two library and application folders. one is under my mac os x drive and the other is under my home folder. i was wondering if i can combine them so they are only under my home folder.
    peAce,
    Matt

Leave the Library folders alone: they are there for a reason (items in the hard disk>Library folder are available to all users). However you can shift the items in the Applications folder in your Home directory to the main Applications folder on the hard disk - the only reason for having applications in your Home folder is to deny their use to another user. Don't do anything to the main Applications folder - apart from adding things to it - it's important that Apple programs such as iPhoto should reside in it.

  • Duplicate application folders

When opening Apps folder, I find a duplicate of Apps and an Apps 2 folder. When I look in finder I find an endless string. Is there a reason for the duplication of folders? Id do a file search for an app name and only find 1 instance of it. Confused
    2011 MBP, OSX, single user

Note that all the extra Applications folders are "aliases" (aka "shortcuts"), as signified by the little arrow on the icon.  How this happened, I cannot say.  But if this happened to me I would be comfortable deleting the aliases - the ones with the arrows - at the highest level of your real Applications folder.  That should take care of things.

  • Multiple application folders?

In preparation for installing Lion I thought I should get rid of the multiple applications folders.  How do you do this?

  • Combined application folders on Mountain Lion?

Let me start this by saying I understand there are 2 Applications folders, only wish I had known that before. I tried to combine the two (how? don't know) and when I search for an application in spotlight, this is what happens.
The blurred out part is my home folder (which is my name). There is a copy of the application in both a folder on Macintosh HD and my home folder. Today when I was cleaning up applications, I was deleting them through the Application folder on the Sidebar Finder, but searching for them in Spotlight reveals that they are still there, in the other folder.
How exactly do I go about fixing this! Thank you!

Just wanted to add — all of my applications will launch fine from either folder. But, they show up as different applications (and show the same data within).

  • Application Folders

    Hello!
I just purchased a new MacBook Pro. I used migration assistant to transfer my files/applications over from my old MacBook Pro and everything seems to be there except there are two things I can't figure out...
    1. On my "Downloads" stack, the last thing I downloaded (a picture) isn't on my new Mac, but every other download is. At first, the new Mac was set to sort by date added and only showed very old downloads. I then set it to date created and that fixed eveything except for the one item that's missing. NOTE: My old Mac is set to sort by date added, so why isn't everything showing properly on my new Mac?
    2. My Microsoft Office 2008 folder on the dock looks like a normal folder (blue) instead of the customized yellow one like on my old Mac. The same goes for my other applications folders such as Photoshop, InDesign, etc. They all have the generic blue folder instead of the folder that is specific to them.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
