Organize Bookmarks and Sidebar bookmarks don't sync.

I can make changes in Organize Bookmarks but don't see those changes reflected in the sidebar. Conversely, I can add bookmarks to the sidebar, but don't see them in the bookmarks toolbar. It's like they are keeping 2 different databases, and is very frustrating.

As silly as it might seem, any sorting you do in the Organize Bookmarks window is temporary and for that Library window only. It doesn't affect the Bookmarks view in the Bookmarks Sidebar or in the Bookmarks Menubar drop-down. And as soon as you close the Library window ''that'' sort order resets; it doesn't hold for the next time you open the Library window.

As far as the Bookmarks Toolbar and the Bookmarks Sidebar go, the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder ''(all the way up at the top of the Sidebar list)'' is where the bookmarks that are on the Bookmarks Toolbar will appear. All other bookmarks are either in the Bookmarks Menu folder or the Unsorted Bookmarks folder.

The iPad does have a number of requirements for the MPEG-4 formatted video. Your bookmarks file may be corrupt. Navigate to /[UserName]/AppData/Local/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/[profile_name]. Either rename places.sqlite to places.sqlite.corrupt (or whatever) in case this isn't the problem, or delete places.sqlite. Start/Restart Firefox. The icons for sites that have a favicon should return after you visit each site.

My bookmarks and my history don't save - I have a Mac and can't find the solution for Mac

The same problem I've seen in other forums, but the solution is always for PC and not Mac. My bookmarks don't save (or when I try to save a new one in the toolbar, everything that comes after it disappears) and history just doesn't work.
I am exceptionally computer illiterate. I really need some thorough step-by-step instructions on how to fix this.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Folders disappear if working on bookmarks and the program begins to sync

Lost two folders today as I was editing bookmarks and folders. Added an entry, went back to the original location to delete the same entry, then the new folder was gone.
Is there a way to have the sync activate only upon close of day? If it syncs thruout the day, it erases bookmarks that I am currently working on.

Thank you for your advice to turn off Sync while editing. I finally figured that out after it happened so many times, and I lost so many folders throughout the past month while Xmarks was down.
My thoughts: Sync should not run automatically. It should run only when user activates it.

Hello - When I installed OSX 10.8 on my iMac, all my bookmarks and the bookmarks bar were gone. On my two MB Pros they carried over with no problem. How can I retrieve them? Thanks

Make an archive copy from one of the MBP (File>Export Bookmarks). You may not need it, but if things sync the wrong way on iCloud, you may lose them on all your devices.
Then check out iCloud on the iMac. Is your stuff on iCloud.com? Maybe try logging out and back in again.

Lost all bookmarks and backup bookmarks all of the sudden

As of now, I only have bookmarks as of 8-17-2012 and all othher bookmarks are gone. I restored bookmarks I had backed up in a HTML file from 6-15-2012. I have lost 2 month's worth of bookmarks and I don't know what they are. How do I get the bookmarks that I made between 6-15-2012 and 8-17-2012?

First, let's make a safe backup copy of any remaining bookmark backups.
Open Help > Troubleshooting Information and click the Show Folder button.
Do you see a folder named bookmarkbackups? Make a copy of that folder somewhere safe (e.g., the desktop). If you look inside the folder, are there some that appear larger than the most recent ones? If so try to restore the larger one using the procedure described in this article: [[Back up your bookmarks or move them to another computer]] (see the Restoring from Backups section).
If none of the backups look promising at all, is it possible that you created a new settings (AKA Firefox profile folder)? In the Windows Explorer window, navigate up a level and see whether you have any other profile folders. If so, investigate whether any of them might have recent bookmark backups.

I had a sync account on firefox (with bookmarks, modules and bars) last version.
Now that I have updated to 29.0, I cannot use my old sync account on a new computer. I had to create a new account with my email address and it is now empty.
How do I get back my favourites in this new account ?

Safari on my PC (5.1.7) the bookmarks and reading list no longer sync with my IOS7 devices?? Have Apple ended it?

Open the iCloud Panel on your PC. Deselect the box next to Booksmarks then reselect it.
On your iOS devices, tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Safari off then back on.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data.

When clicking on "Bookmarks" and then "Bookmark This Page" and then "Done", the bookmark does not appeasar on "Library" for "Bookmarks Menu".

There are no further details to add. As stated, that's the problem.

Safari Looses bookmarks and the bookmark bar

I'm using Safari 3.0.4 on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.2. Today when I launched Safari, all my bookmarks were gone. In addition there were no bookmarks listed in the bookmarks bar. If I try to show all bookmarks, Safari just spins it wheel.. and nothing is found. I tried trashing the preferences file. That worked when I relaunched Safari, but those "default" bookmarks were lost again when I quit and relaunched Safari. I also repaired my disk permissions. Has anyone had this prolbem? Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks for your support.

I relaunched Safari and the defualt bookmarks appeared in the bookmark bar. When I quit Safari and relaunched, these bookmarks were gone. Using Safari 3.0, I couldn't even show all bookmarks anymore. I decided to install Safari 3.1 yesterday. I still don't have any bookmarks for the latest version of Safari. Thanks for the help.

IOS 8.1 (iPad mini) and Yosemite (MacBook) don't sync using iCloud

iPad mini (new) using IOS 8.1 and MacBook late 2008 using Yosemite do not sync using iCloud. iCloud created with both devices and iCal and Contacts selected but iCloud is empty in Finder.

iTunes is a mess. On the sidebar on the left there is a "On My Device" section. It shows everything *except* the apps. Above that there is a "settings" section. That's where the apps are. That's a "setting"?
The device handling needs a complete overhaul. There are many many people who have had an iPad or iPhone for some time, but do not own a Mac. Based on climbing Mac sales, clearly some of those people are deciding "I like this iPhone so much I'm going to get a Mac!" So they get one and run into this train wreck.
Even now, with the iPad selected, I go to the View menu, select View Options..., and.....nothing. No window, no dialog, no indication of anything. Turns out that menu item is not applicable when a device is selected. Even with the original 128k Mac (my first Mac) they had this sorted out - dim the menu item when it's not applicable. Here we are 30 years later and they get it wrong.

I am unable to view my bookmarks and the 'Bookmarks' drop down menu will not expand beyond the bookmark folder to display my bookmarks.

When I try to add a new bookmark, I cannot find any of my bookmark folders. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and still have the same problem.

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (200 KB) and <u>do not click Preview</u> after you have attached the image.

ITunes on win 8 shows unknown error -42110 on startup and video-audio don't sync

I tried updating and unistalling and reinstalling itunes on windows 8 and also deleting the Application data files. Still get unknown error -42110 on every startup.
Don't know if it's related but on every movie the audio and ideo drift badly out of sync.
Apple support have just wasted my time on this.

If your iTunes is up to date, remove the SC Info folder.
