Organize PDF docs on iPad?

I have sent several PDF docs to my iPad, but I am unable to create folders to organize them into specific categories. Is it possible to do so?

no problem!
if you have an excel document on your mac or pc that you want to view only, email it to yourself from your desktop, open the email onyour iPad, and touch the attachment - it will open as a view only file so all the cell formulae etc are hidden, you just see the visible elements.
if you want something you can use to edit, i use an app called Office2 (that's a superscript "2" or 'Office squared'. I'm using the iPhone version on my iPhone and iPad, It's currently £3.49 on the iTunes app store. But I see there is now an iPad version (HD) available for a fiver.
Basically, you do exactly the same as above but when you touch the attachment in the email, if Office2 is installed there is an option at the top asking which app you want to open it in. Choose Office 2 then you can open, change, save, mail it back to yourself.
i don't use very large excel files, but it works for me!!
enjoy

Unable to open pdf document in ipad. Pls help me.
The webpage with attachment shows this msg.
Note: The PDF attachment is only supported by Adobe Reader 9.0 and above. If you are not able to view the attachment online, please right-click the attachment link and save the file onto your local machine. Please open the downloaded file using Adobe Reader 9.0 and above.

You can offer feedback to Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    Support here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/contact/
However, the issue is very likley something in the file itself or the manner in which it is linked that causes the issue. Other thsn this file, I never have any issues opening a PDF in Safari or other applicable apps. Chances are slim to none you will get any troubleshooting.

  • I can't open attachments on my iPad 2.  I have downloaded the 8.0.2 software update.  I can't open jpgs, PDFs, docs. or movie files now.

I can't open attachments on my iPad 2t and I can't open jpgs, PDFs, docs. or movie files now.

Obviously, you are talking about the mail app, so force close the mail app and reset your iPad. If that fails, reset all settings.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
When you reset all settings, you will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

  • Keynote app PDF docs loaded in iTunes library not synching to ipad

I've downloaded the Keynote apps, accessed the iTunes library => Apps => Keynote => added the PDF files I wanted
They are visible in the iTunes library on my computer. Now synching my ipad to the computer, open Keynote apps, selected + copy from iTunes and I can see the list of all the PDF docs I have added but there are in grey shade and cannot click on them to add them to my ipad.
    Any suggestions? thanks!

Until today, all of my music was on both my Mac and iPad 2.  I too just sync'd my iPad 2 with my Mac.  Originally, none of the music from the Mac showed up on iPad.  Tried again, and now some albums are showing up, but only a few.  Have plenty of capacity/space.  Also noticed the "iPod" icon is now a "Music" icon on the iPad.  Any ideas?
Sounds like you just updated your IOS.  Check the iTunes settings and confirm that nothing was changed:

  • In iBooks on my ipad I have pdf docs in collections?? How to sync??

In iBooks on my ipad I have pdf docs in collections.  Now with the new system, my purchased books are syncing, however, my collections are not syncing.  How can I make that happen??

I have this problem too: the best work around I have found so far is to take a pdf stored on my computer, put it into dropbox, then open dropbox on my ipad, open the pdf and ask it to open in ibooks (or goodreader if I choose)
I freely admit this is a poor workaround. We don't seem to be able to locally sync pdfs or epubs that were not bought from the ibooks store (at this moment)

  • I cannot open all email attachment files(pdf, doc, etc) in Mail on my New IPad.

I cannot open all email attachment files(pdf, doc, etc) in Mail on my New IPad. I installed all viewer apps but I am not able to click and hold to select the option of viewer apps to open the files. I dont get the "open with" option when I click on the arrow in the menu bar. I can open attachment files on G-mail website from Safari though. It is really ridiculous that I cannot open the files from Apple Mail app! What's wrong with it!!

We cannot possible know what's wrong with it. But we can offer suggestions that might help.
Try resetting the iPad - its like rebooting a computer.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This might help as well.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again

  • Can I see my PDF docs on my iPad and iPhone

I would like to know how to see PDF docs on multiple devices like iPad and iPhone. Also how can I see my photos on both devices?

If you upload your photos and PDF files in Dropbox, you'll be able to see them on your computer, iPad, iPhone and iPod.

  • PDF docs to an Ipad

Need some help please! I have an amount of sheet music for my keyboard and would like to put this on my Ipad.
I can create a pdf file on my PC but need to know:-
How do I create a file on my Ipad which can contain the pdf docs which can be read by, maybe, Adobe
Whats the easiest way to get the pdf docs from my PC to my Ipad.
Detailed answer please. Have no difficulty in getting music, photos, books onto Ipad but am struggling with this.

I'd use Dropbox. It's free. Install on your iPad and also on your PC. Very simple. Just copy PDFs on your PC to Dropbox and then you can open them on your iPad.  For viewing PDFs on the iPad, I'd suggest GoodReader. You can open PDFs on Dropbox in GoodReader.  GoodReader will also let you make notations on the PDFs if you need to do that.

  • How do I close a PDF doc on my iPad? Thanks

How do I close a PDF on the iPad?

Since Adobe Reader 10.3 can only open one PDF at a time, you can simply return to the Documents view by clicking Documents at the upper left. (If you have created folders and your PDF is in a folder, click the name of the folder at the upper left. Then, click the link to the Documents view.)

  • I saved a PDF doc in adobe and then added text to the form. But every time I try an email it it only

I saved a PDF doc in adobe and then added text to the form. But every time I try an email it it only sends the original form without text. Once I've changed a doc in Adobe, how can I save it so that I'm able to use it with added text and notes? Also, I'm using a new iPad.

If you are using those apps or websites, they are likely viewing the PDF using iOS' built in PDF previewing, which will not show annotations and markup to the PDF. We have informed Apple of this issue, but do not have any insight into whether or when they will fix it.
Regarding the qustion about importing pictures, Adobe Reader does not provide any capabilities to import pictures into a PDF. To do this, you'll need to use Acrobat, available on your desktop computer.

  • I need to print a mirror image of a PDF on my iPad.  Is this possible?

I need to print a mirror image of a PDF on my iPad for an iron on transfer.  Is this possible?  I have Pages and GoodReader but can't figure out how this would work on either app.  Help!

Can't be done as an exact copy from one Mac to the other.  The operating systems are system specific. First make sure your system doesn't need a firmware update to get 10.2 or later on it. You'll need to install 9 on it if it does, direct from a 9 retail CD that is compatible with it *.  This disc can't say Upgrade, Dropin, or OEM. To determine compatibility, identify your G4 tower:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3082
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42739
Then look at the OS 9 compatibility:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25517
    Then apply the correct update
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117
The last Mac OS 9 to come retail is 9.2.1, and that's newer than 9.0.4, 9.0.2, and 9.1.
Your ghost image can be done using cloning software, but then you'll have to use a retail 10.3 installer and 10.3.9 combo update on the G4 tower.  Then use the Migration Assistant to import the data from the clone of the iBook. The 10.3 retail disc looks like * and does not say upgrade, dropin, or OEM.  The 10.3.9 combo update is here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxcombinedupdate1039.html
The clone to an external hard drive can be done with these instructions*:

    Hi Jerry,
I don't think so, because I can send a word doc but not a pdf?! And my gmail account has plenty of space...  And it worked fine before I upated the new version of Ipad.  I hope I can find a solution, otherwise I can't use Pages anymore. Any other apps equivalent to Pages?
    Thanks anyway.

  • Best solutions for storing text, Word and pdf documents on iPad

I just switched from using a powerbook to an iPad + microkeyboard for my work computer (I'm freelance and need to bring my own device wherever I go), and I love the size and weight of it compared to a laptop.
What I am glitching on is the fact that I cannot save documents to my ipad. Clients email Word and PDF docs to me, and I have (very few of) my own docs, such as resumes, which I need to update slightly and send out to them as well. It's not ideal when I need to send out a resume to dig through my Sent folder on Mail and forward it, creating a new email but just saving the attachment. I also need to access certain received documents repeatedly as reference. I'm surprised iOS for iPad doesn't have a "Documents" folder as OS X does.
How are users working around this problem currently? Please give me suggestions for solutions. I'm hopeful that future iterations of iOS will provide a way to store and access a personal library of documents as it does photos and videos, so I will commit to working through this in the short term. What are your work arounds?
    T

I doubt iOS will ever change. iOS does not have a file manager system like you're used to on a laptop or desktop, so it lacks the ability to access files like you're used to. So whatever workarounds you find will likely become your regular work flow. If Apple hasn't added a file manager to iOS in the past 5 (give or take) years it's doubtful they'll do so in the future...the lack of a file manager is why the iOS operating system is so secure, viruses can't infect and use a file manager system to spread if they don't have one.)
iOS ties the access to files to the apps that access them. As you said, photos with the photos app, music with the music app. With your purchase of a new iOS device you are eligible for free Apple apps, amongst them Pages and Numbers, Apple's word processing and version of excel.. You can store your documents in that app and access them that way. Or there are tons of other word processing apps. I use Documents to Go (although it's not free so you may wish to  experiment with the free apps first before  you start paying)
File transfer....well Apple's work flow is that everyone has access to always on and always available internet, thus their workflow being built around the cloud and using the internet for file transfer, as well as e-mailing stuff to yourself. There are some flash drives out there that have their own wifi transmitter that may help you. You'd plug them into another computer, put the file on it, turn on the wifi transmitter and use a small localized hotspot to connect your ipad to and download the files to your iPad via an app that will come with the flash drive.

  • Is there a way to get a PDF into my iPad keynote?

    Is it possible?

I don't have an iPad, but it should be no problem. Once you have the PDF in your iPad, you can paste/insert it into your KN presentation. There are probably several ways to get a PDF into your device - download from the net; email it to yourself if it's on a computer; if it's originally your own word processor doc, like Pages, you can export that to a PDF version.

I don't know how to store PDF docs in my iBook library ... can anyone help ?  ?  ?

What I have been doing is exporting documents to PDF's on my PC in Open Office and emial them to myself. I create a lot of ads, fliers and other content on my PC then transfer the content to my iPad though email. I have yet to find a PDF that I cannot choose to open in iBooks which automatically saves it in my library.
