Hi
In browser mode (view-browser or hit the V key until it shows) there is a drop down menu at the top left of the browser pane. Hit image date then use the arrow to the right of the drop down to choose your preference

  • What app will organize pictures and albums on the ipad according to date and alphabetize?

We have thousands of pictures and albums on our Ipad and need an app with a "go to" feature we can enter the name or date the photo was taken. We would like to date and name the pictures in the future with the app feature. Any suggestions?

    Hi-
You can actully create your own folders on the Ipad in your photo area. There should be a little plus at the top and you can drag each photo and video in one by one. THere is also Photo Sort for the Ipad (App) Hope this helps. Please check out my website: www.applesupports.webs.com

  • I created an album in iPhoto and every time I click on slideshow it plays the pictures backwards from the order in the album. How do I change that?

I created an album in iPhoto and every time I click on slideshow it plays the pictures backwards from the order in the album. How do I change that?

When running a slideshow from an album it will not run properly if the photos are sorted manually.  Sort them by any of the other options, title, date, rating, etc. and it will play correctly.
Send a report of the problem to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
If you must sort them manually create the slideshow in the slideshow mode in iPhoto, not from an album.

  • Will iOS 4 for iPad let you organize pictures the way you want?

    Hi,
does anybody know whether the iOS 4 iPAD edition specs say anything about being able to organize pictures the way you want in the iPad?
It currently sorts them with no options whatsoever either by date or by places.
I want to be able to create my slideshows the way I want, not Apple.
    For now, I have to:
1- rename each file in the order I want, say, from 01 to 80
2- remove the entire EXIF info from each picture (so it doesn't have time stamps)
3- use a "touch" utility to change all the file dates to (current date+ 1second X picture number)
It's a bit hard and not accessible to the alpha user.
It would be nice to have a "sequential" and a "alphabetic" order in the slideshow options, as well as ascending and descending parameters.
    Any clue?

    Hi,
I already updated it this morning and moved the suffix as a prefix in order to get the iPad pictures grouped together instead of every other file. It's easier to select all iPad_pic01, iPad_pic02... files as they are together, rather than pic01_ipad, pic02_ipad,etc
    1. I suggest that you should post your program description and
link as a brand new topic so that everyone with the same
annoying problem can find it. I would call it something like
    "Photo Sort Problem SOLVED".
I'll do that in a very short time, once I have enough feedback about the stability of the utility.
    2. The link you posted needs to have a .html at the end.
Yeap. I'll correct the ipad directory to be redirected on the ipad.html file.
    3. Would it be possible for your program to handle some other image
formats with EXIF tags, especially Png's?
I'll check this. If my EXIF class handles them (it should also handle TIFF since Exif derives from TIFF), I will implement this a.s.a.p.
    4. Would it be possible to directly change the subject files instead
of creating the _iPad copies? Perhaps as a user option?
Yes, I'm working now to add this as an option:
    1) overwrite the original picture without backup copies (keeping the same name)
    2) prefix the file name with a string of your choice
    3) suffix the file name with a string of your choice
    Thanks for your input.

  • Placing photo albums in order

    Hi all!
First thing first, I work in a photography studio in Spain and all of our tech stuff is Apple. We love it and it goes great until.... it doesn't!
Me and my boss use our iPads very often for presentations, we have most of our pictures (over 15 thousand) in the iPad, we have them in iPhoto organized in albums and sync them with iTunes. All was nice and smooth, then iOs 5.0 came around and we loved it, iCloud and all the other goodies are great for the office but the photo part started acting weird. All of a sudden the photo albums started having a strange random order, an order that would change every time we sync with iTunes. Having over 50 albums their order is key for smooth presentations with clients and partners. So I started calling the Apple assistance, went to the store, over and over and over and no one seemed to know why this happens until someone at the Apple store told me to delete the iPod Photo Cache folder from inside the iPhoto library and the magic happened: finally the pictures were syncing right! Phew!! But then we started realizing that every single time we sync we need to delete the iPod Photo Cache folder or the order goes nuts again..
I tried Aperture and it's great but same problem: the albums are in the right order in iTunes when I sync them but then in the device they are in some random weird order that makes no sense.
So the question is: can you advise a way to effectively sync pictures between the mac and the iPad so that albums appear in an order I defined my photo software (iPhoto/Aperture/MS Paint/whatever)? Is there any third-party app that would do that? ANY help will be rewarded with huuuuuge amounts of greatfulness for the rest of my life
    Gracias!

I'm not sure there is an order because even if I have not added any photos to my iPhoto albums, the order always changes every time I sync.
When I do add photos to existing albums, or even great new albums, they don't follow alphabetical order like they do in iPhoto. Some albums stay where they are, others don't follow along.

  • Pictures in albums?

Is there a way to put the pictures in a specific order in the albums?  I have my pictures in a new album but would like them in a specific order.

  • Rearranging Album Track Orders

    Hello,
This small problem may have a very simple answer, but I can't seem to figure it out...
Sometimes when I upload an album to ITunes, the track order gets mixed up. The program will still have the right track numbers attached to each track, but the playlist for that album is out of order (ex: Track 3 of the CD will be the first tract of the album playlist). I can't seem to put them back in the right order. Does anyone know how I could do this?
    Thanks!

If the songs are in a playlist open iTunes then click on the playlist. Click on the number column (extreme left). Click on the song you want to move and drag it to where you want it to be. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, either of those can prevent you reordering tracks.
If the tracks are out of order in your library view try this. Right click at the top of any column in your iTunes library and choose **Track Number** from the list. Click at the top of this new column to sort it and after that click on the Album column. If you like you can then click on Artist, it will continue to hold the track order as well. Afterwards anything you import should follow this arrangement Track Number>Album>Artist. Make sure the little triangle on the right side of the track number column header is pointing up. In that direction the column is sorted in Ascending order (lowest to highest).

  • Keeping album song orders in their original order???

    Hello everyone,
I'm a nubie to mastering Itunes, but I was wondering if anyone can help me keep my albums, song orders, organized in their original track order, instead of alphabetically.
Most of my mp3's are in individual album files inside the artist file, with a number order beginning each track name 01_tracka, 02_trackb, etc. etc.
Anyway, when I add all my songs to itunes and use my library/browser to search for albums, they come up alphabetically totally messing up my original song orders.
    What am I doing wrong?
    thanks,
    Tucky
P.S. I don't let itunes organize my music folder, because I want to keep my original file folder structure.

    Gene,
iTunes does not use the file names to display or sort the tracks. It uses the tags associated with each track. You can edit a track's tags by highlighting the track, pressing Command-I, and then clicking on the Info tab.
To put an album in track order, you would need to enter the track number in that field of the get Info box. You would at least need to actual track number, you could add the total number of tracks as well.
You sort iTunes by clicking on one of the headers of the spreadsheet-like display. So, if you select a single album to look at, you could sort it in track order by clicking the header of the "Track #" column. If you are displaying all the albums by a particular artist, if you have the track tag filled in, then you can click on the "Album" header to sort by the album name and each album will be sorted in track order.
View Options (Command-J) only determines what columns are displayed in the main "spreadsheet" like display of iTunes. To actually sort the tunes, you need to click on the header of the column you want to sort by.

  • When I rearrange the order of my photos in an album, the order does not stick for exporting for a book.

I manally rearrange my photos in an album, the order does not stick when I export to a folder in order to make a book.  Also, if I have given a title to a photo, it does not seem to export with the other pictures in an album.

It's a little vague on what you're workflow is.  So I'll make a guess about the book: if you're dragging those photos into an iPhoto book they will be sorted by date.  So you would have to use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date (with 1 minute between photos) menu option on those photos in the album before dragging them onto the book icon.
Photos exported to a folder on the hard drive will be sorted by the Finder either alphanumerically or chronologically.  To get them in the manual order that's in the album you'll need to rename them via the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to Text with a sequential number added to each photo.  Then export to the Desktop with the option to use the Title as the new File name.

  • Browse iPad pictures by album on Mac

I plugged in the iPad 2 (with iOS5) into my macbook, opened iPhoto and the "Devices tab" the iPad appeared. When I click it I just get a mess of all the pictures in no particular order (might be by date or something, doesn't matter). I've spent hours upon hours sorting all photos into albums. Now I want to import some of the albums to my PC. Is there a way to see the albums I've made in iPhoto?

Which OS X is currently installed on your Mac?
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
    The version is noted there.

  • How To: Sort Numbers in Ascending Order in a Generated List

Greetings! How do I set up a Generated List of Paragraphs so that it sorts in true ascending order? What I want is:
    1.1
    1.2
    1.3
    1.4
    1.5
    1.6
    1.7
    1.8
    1.9
    1.10
I have tried every trick I can think of with the sort order listed on the reference page. But all I can get is something that sorts by individual number (ignoring the numeric value) like:
    1.1
    1.10
    1.11
    1.2
    1.20
    1.21
    1.3
    Any help is much appreciated!

Hello there, Michael! Thanks so much for looking at my post! Alas, the LOP will not work. I should have explained more, but it was so complicated I thought folks would give up reading.
Here's the best I can render it without getting permission to share a good example document. I do not blame anyone if it's too cumbersome or convoluted to wade through...
This is a requirements document which has sort of a "legal" tinge to it--as the document evolves we must maintain traceability for individual requirements. This means, for example:
    Version 1 - I have requirements 1 and 2.
Version 2 - I need to add a new requirement, which should appear before requirement 1 in the document. Even though it comes before requirement 1 in the document, numerically it will be requirement 3 and requirement 1 will remain requirement 1.
Version 3 - I need to remove requirement 2. Even though I now have only 2 requirements, their numbers will not change (they remain requirements 1 and 3, appearing in reverse order).
Version 4 - I need to move requirement 3 to be after requirement 1. Again, the requirements keep their original number, even though their position has changed and there is no longer a "requirement 2" number in use.
Originally, I told the team (I'm doing this for a different dept), that they would have to hand-number requirements, which they did for a while. But that was getting very cumbersome, and the scenarios above are limited to one or two occurrences per document. So I created an auto-number sequence for them to use in the initial version and added a little smoke-and-mirrors work process to take care of changes in later versions. The last bit of chicanery I cannot get to work is the index...
Even if there are no changes to the requirements after the initial version, the index still does not sort in ascending numeric order. It was working with the hand-numbered requirements because they were using leading zeros. But without being able to include leading zeros in the auto-numbering formats (I tried the "use a zero as a tab leader" solution and like to have thrown my new monitor out of the window), I cannot find a solution.
Or rather, I think the solution is "you have to hand-number requirements".
For anyone who has made it this far, I truly appreciate your time and patience!

  • I am using iPhoto 2009.  If I empty the trash bin, will it delete those pictures from albums I have created?  I noticed some of the pictures appear to be the same in both the trash and album.

I have a lot of photos in my trash bin and was thinking about emptying the trash.  However, I got a message that said that if emptied, I would not be able to recover them.  I chickened out.  I looked at several pictures in the trash and noticed that they were the same pictures in albums that I had created.  I compared the numbers shown on those pictures in the trash and found that they were the same as the numbers shown in on the pictures in the albums that I had created.  I would like to delete the pictures to create more space, but I don't want to lose pictures that I can't replace.

yes - albums are not copies or places - they are pointers in the databae pointing to the photo in the library - you can see it in an album, under photos or under events - but it is all the same photo - if you delete it it is gone everyplace - and no additiponal space is used for an album (or many albums - a photo can be in many albums without using any additional space
Only put photos that you do not want to keep in the trash
How much free space do you have on the disk volume that the iPhoto library is on?
