Organizer 11 flashes continuously in 2nd monitor?

I just installed the trial version of Premiere Elements 11, which works fine on my primary monitor, but when I place Organizer on the 2nd monitor, the 2nd monitor screen flashes continuously.  Using Windows 7 with all updates; ATI Radeon HD 4290 with currrent drivers.  All other software, including other Adobe products, work fine on second monitor.  Searched Adobe site and Google without success.  Frustrated in Virginia.

Welcome to the forum.
I see similar, even with the latest nVidia video driver, BUT in my case, my XP-Pro is the limiting factor. nVidia has not released an updated driver for my GeForce 8800M GTX chip FOR that OS.
With Win7, I would have thought that the latest Catalyst driver for your AMD/ATI card would not exhibit that flashing. However, there have been some recent posts (mostly to the Photoshop forum) on some recent issues with the latest AMD/ATI Catalyst drivers, and especially with PS CS 6. What is the Catalyst version that you have installed? In many of those display issue threads in the PS forum, the "fix" was to roll back to an earlier version. Also, are your two displays the exact same, with the exact same resolution?
PrE 11 (and PS CS 6, PrPro CS 6 and After Effects CS 6) relies more heavily on the video driver, than most other programs will.
In my case, my display is perfect with older PrE, PrPro PS and AE versions, but I get the flashing (and trails) in PrE 11. My fix will be to update my OS on the laptop (though a new laptop is being shipped with Win7), since nVidia has ceased support for my XP-Pro and that nVidia chip.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Can't run flash player in full screen on 2nd monitor

Hi all! I have a laptop with dual video displays. The main
display is the laptop's LCD and the 2nd display is a 19" LCD
connected via VGA cable. I want to let a Flash movie loop endlessly
on the second monitor while I continue to work on the laptop. When
I drag Flash Player 8 over to the 2nd monitor and start the movie,
I can hit maxmize and it will take up the entire 2nd montior as it
should...with the file options and boarder around as expected. I
then hit Ctrl-F to go full screen and it snaps directly to the
laptop's primary monitor. I tried it at work where my desktop has 2
displays and the same thing happens. I need to force Flash player
to run full screen on the 2nd monitor and cannot find a way to
accomplish this. Any help is appreciated because it's driving me
nuts. I can always make the external monitor my primary but then
the start button and all my icons move there too and that is not
    acceptable. Thanx!

Seriously? No one has any thoughts about this? I can't
believe I would be the first to come across this issue.

  • Flash Player freezes on 2nd monitor while playing fullscreen game on 1st one

Flash Player freezes (shows something like slideshow with frame rate near 1-2 per sec, everything is ok with sound) on 2nd monitor while playing fullscreen game on 1st one.
Windows 8, flash player 12, chrome.
Tried to use other versions of flashplaers, other browsers - didnt help me.
SOLVED: my computer for some reason didnt want to download updates. that was the reason of this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

  • 2nd Monitor won't work

I bought a Pavillion p6210f last week with Win7 loaded to replace my Dell/Vista.  I was using two monitors with a VGA port and DVI port on the old PC, so I tried plugging in the same on my new HP and the DVI would not fit.  In examining the pins I found that, althought the Manual said DVI, but the plug has the pin/bar arrangement of a DVI-D.   So, I bought a VGAto DVI-D adapter and everything plugged in snuggly.  All pins and bar appear a match.
But, it won't work.  This is what is showing
NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller   HP RC Mirror Driver [Display adapter]
    NVIDIA GeForce 9100 [Display adapter]
    Acer P241W [Monitor] (24.0"vis, s/n LB4040014320, March 2008)the one working monitor....
After hours with the 800 support and hours of reversing the two Acer monitors, the DVI-D port is simply dead.  Anything plugged in to the VGA works fine, anything and any combination plugged into the DVI-D and cable switching etc. the 2nd monitor  is not even recoginized.  The NVIDIA control panel doesn't recognize it. The amber power light just stays that way and nothing ever flashes on the 2nd screen.  That is, it is the same as not plugging in at all.
I was less than pleased when 800 tech and supervisor suggested I take it to a repair center.  A week old?  I have put way too much setup and data transfer into the new HP to go back to the retailer for a replacement.
Techs didn't know, but could there be a DVI-X with the same pins that also fits

Eldric, did you update to the latest video driver from nVidia?  It sounds to me like a driver problem.  Update and let us know if that solves your problem.

  • Lines and title flashing across the program monitor and in final export

I'm seeing very thin lines flashing across the program monitor when playing a complex sequence with 7 video tracks. They draw at various angles and span the entire screen. There can be one or more showing at any time. They are colored and each line appears to be only one color, but different lines can be different colors. Some lines are solid, others are dashed. There is also a ghosty-white representation of one of my titles flashing around the screen for only a frame or two, then it flashes somewhere else.
    Sequences and Tracks:
Base Sequence: AVCHD with disolves and color correction
Next Sequence Layer: Base Sequence placed on tracks 1 and 2. Motion is applied to both tracks. LInearWipe and Opacity are applied to Track 2.
(This creates an image in the center of the screen with a reflection.)
Next Sequence Layer (1st track of the final 7): Animates Basic3D and Motion (position, scaling)
2nd, 3rd and 4th of the seven are just like the1st. So there are 4 video screens flying around with reflections and perspective. Kind of like the iTunes album art widget - screen flies in, goes center stage, then flies back.
Layers 5 to 7 are titles. They are also nested sequences having reflections and Basic3D, but their positions are not animated.
    My system:
    Phenom II x6 1055T
    8 Gb DDR3 1333
3 Drives 7200 rpm (one program, one preview/conforming, one video)
nVidia GeForce GTX 260 (3 fans attached)
3 Case fans plus the side is open - running very cool
    MSI 890GXM-G65 Mobo
    My Project:
Originated as a CS4 project, opened with CS5 and converted (did not import). Fixed all the title screwups, missing fonts, graphics, hooked up the off-line media etc etc. There are a couple of 1.5 hour nested AVCHD multi-camera sequences which look and play great. Then there are 2 of these monster sequences which are actually used as DVD menus and are about 44 seconds each. When I render these 7 layer menu sequences and play them back, these lines start flashing across the screen.
Of course the GTX 260 has the GPU unlocked and that works great for the 1.5 hour programs. But if I attempt to render the 44 second monsters Premier stops responding and I have to EndTask it (all CPUs drop to idle while not responding). These monster sequences might test the power of the Quadro CX. So when I work with the menu sequences, I set Premiere to use software GPU and not MPE. Then I can render (2 hours render time to preview 44 seconds with six cores at near 100%). So it does render, slowly.
I'm exporting an mpeg2 file now and will let you know if the lines show up in the final rendering. I can see the lines showing up on the MediaEncoder's small preview screen as it renders. Doesn't give me comfort.
OK worst case scenario. The lines ARE in the final mpeg2 file. Makes the file unusable garbage...
Is anyone else seeing flashing lines and titles?
Here's a link to a still from the export to illustrate the artifacts.(face and name were blanked out by me)
    http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/5051/premierecs5lineandtitle.jpg
    Thanks

The crop workaround was successful for removing the lines - worked great. There was the issue of the ghost text which you can see in the screenshot link provided above. This was not removed by crop. Crop removed the lines, but not the ghost. Thankfully, the 4 point garbage mask did work on the ghost and I was able to eliminate it. I had to apply the garbage mask on the sequence where Basic3D was applied not its parent sequence where VerticalFlip was used. The most important thing is that I've successfully migrated this CS4 project to CS5 and can now take advantage of 64bit processing (more RAM) to tame the beast. I'm using this sequence as a menu for a series of DVDs so my time expended will pay me back again and again.
The asset generating the ghost was built like this...
In the titler: Text was placed over a logo (.tiff file for logo and it was scaled and moved)
Base Sequence: Title was brought to two, stacked tracks. VerticalFlip, and LinearWipe were applied to one which was then moved to look like a reflection of the other
Next Sequence: Layed the Base Sequence down. Applied Basic 3D and moved it's XY position. (This is where I applied the GarbageMask to remove the ghost)
I tried separating the logo from the text thinking that the logo feature of the titler might be the problem. So I used a separate video track and pulled in the .tiff file directly. It didn't eliminate the ghost. Applying the GarbageMask to the base sequence also didn't help. It was only after Basic3D was applied that the ghost would appear. And since I have Basic3D applied to other reflected text-only layers which do not exhibit the ghost artifact, the bug has something to do with the text/graphic combination with VerticalFlip and Basic3D.
To top it all off, I can no longer recreate the problem. I've turned off the garbage mask and it's not showing up. While I was testing, the ghost was easy to recreate, but now I can't do it. So I don't appear to be able to drill down deeper. Perhaps it will come back at some point and I can test it further and update this thread.

  • Outputing to 2nd Monitor

Our facility is streaming using Adobe Media Live Encoder.  We are building a new facility and I want to send the output of the stream to NTSC output of my video card so we can monitor the stream from the office area.   My goal is to have the output of all 3 channels on a quad view monitor with our 3 channels and the front door security camera.  We are currently using Flash Media Live Encoder 3 and I don't see any options for outputing to a 2nd monitor.

    Dennis,
Thanks for the reply. If by "quit" you mean minimize, then yes it does, but if I actually quite the application and reopen it, it reopens on the primary screen and I have to drag it again to the secondary monitor. At first I thought it might just be the app, but all of them do the same thing (iTunes, Safari, etc.) Is there any special setting that needs to be set in order for it to work?

  • 2nd monitor says in input - what to do?

Hello. I have been having trouble getting a 2nd monitor to connect with my computer on the windows side. Two days ago the monitor just quit working and says no input when I turn it on. I have checked drivers for HP, nvidia, and updated my apple software on the mac side.
Two days ago suddenly the monitor began working. I have no idea why. I suspected that updating the apple software might have finally kicked. It worked for awhile yesterdat morning but then suddenly quit and I've not been able to get it started again.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Michael

Hi again Loner T. OK I read over all again. Let me see if I understand what you are saying to do:
First, download bootcamp software from apple-support-downloads. I found a place where it linked my computer to files and took me to bootcamp 4.0.4033. I follow directions on the apple site where it says to double click the file to uncompress it and then save all to a usb flash drive. That's what you mean above I think. I am gathering I download this on the apple side?
    Open windows.
Go through and uninstall each of the windows drivers provided by apple that you have pictured above.
Then follow instructions on the apple website per what you say above by clicking on setup.exe.
This should reinstall the windows drivers and correct problems that downloads from windows may have created. Is that correct? I am thinking, however, that this is not the source of my problems. The install date on all these is 7-18-12 rather than a recent update that might have caused problems.
So I can do this. However, this doesn't deal with the issue of the nvidia graphics display card. Again, following other online suggestions for a clear install I deleted this file. The display card now does not show up in the Device Manager nor is there an Nvidia control panel in the control panel window. (The nvidia control panel, however, is still listed in Programs and Features as is a file called Nvidia drivers. What to do about this? I am assuming that this is needed for the display. I know the nvidia control panel was where I could see the connection with the monitor when this was working properly.
    Thanks. Michael

  • Clitching H264 Playback on 2nd monitor - 17" MacBook Pro/NVIDIA

I have used Keynote professionally for many years, and often use H264 compressed videos (that I have created in After Effects). This has always worked very well until the last few weeks when I noticed that every now and then there is a glitch in the playback of H264 movies when a 2nd monitor/video projector is attached.
Glitch description: A completely random flash/breakup of the image that lasts for single frame - similar to the old flash frame you used to get when playing back MPEG2 movies in PowerPoint. This does not cause the video to stop playing, but is annoying when using it in a profesional presentation. It is also completely random and occurs at least once a minute during playback. This only occurs on the new MacBook Pro's that have the NVIDIA graphics card. It does not occur when using the laptop's LCD display only - ie: no 2nd output used. It does occur on the laptop's LCD if a second display/projecter is plugged in. This does also not occur on my ATI equiped MacBook Pro 15" or my G5 or my iMac.
It appears to be a problem with the NVIDIA card.

  • IMac monitor goes dark; 2nd monitor ok

I have a dual monitor setup on my iMac (2009) running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).  The iMac monitor had been working great, but now it goes to a black screen.  I am able to access it briefly (for about a second) by lightly pressing the power button on the back.  The iMac monitor flashes on briefly when I do this and I'm able to quickly click on user.  I used this same method to open Settings and drag it over to the 2nd monitor to change the display setting to Mirror mode, so I'd have access to the dock on the 2nd monitor (Dell 2007WFP).
I have tried the following so far:
         checked cables
restarted by powering off, pressing on/off button for 5 seconds, unplugging for 15 seconds.
         booted in Safe Mode
reset PRAM (I believe this was reset, but I don't know for sure because I couldn't see anything on the monitors.)
    Other information:
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
         8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
         NVIDIA GeForce 9400
Thank you in advance for help with this issue!

Replacing FBDIMMs would be today inexpensive and worth doing.
No one knows if heat is an issue without your using thermal sensor monitor. Probably want to up the default fan speeds while at it.
And because you don't have Lion+ then even more reason to setup a small maintenace volume on another drive with OS X basic system for repairs. In fact you should always have a bootable backup or two  you can rely on.
Restarting may work, or it  may be you have now new issue with corrupt fies or directory that a safe boot even is no guarantee of fixing.
When in doubt, try a clean new OS install on another drive.
    And FBDIMMs: $25 for a 2x2GB set on Amazon.com
You want to get  the most out of what  you have, a small investment  in RAM,  maybe recycle those drives for 2-4TB units. And an SSD will have system responding better and perform better.
My guess, the 5870 wasn't needed and was overkill and a 5770 for almost  half would have been more than adequate.

  • Desktop comes up on 2nd monitor before showing up on Primary Display.

12 core mid 2010 macpro.  My First monitor is a cinema display connected to DVI connecter on the ATI HD 5870 card and my 2nd monitor is hooked up via the first adjacent mini-display port (with an hdmi dongle).  All works well except on boot, even though the display prefs are set so that the 30" cinema display is the primary one, the entire desktop shows up on the 2nd display for a moment and then after a "Blue Blink" everything shows up again on the primary monitor.  The issue is that all of the items on the desktop are an utter mess.  I also notice in the about this mac info pane (on displays) the HDMI connection is listed first, the Cinema HD display 2nd.  Is this a bug?  It seems to me that once you set the display priorities in the display preference pane the machine should be able to get it right the first time.  Is there something else I need to set or is this something I have to live with.

Not sure what you mean about "display priorities".  Where you plug these guys into your video card is immaterial.
Did you define the 30" as the "main monitor", i.e., the one containing the menu bar?   Look at your Displays preferences, Arrangement tab.  If the little white menu bar is not on your 30" drag it there.  That is then where your boot displays should show.
It wouldn't hurt to click the detect displays button the displays preferences and also do a smc and pram reset.
...the entire desktop shows up on the 2nd display for a moment and then after a "Blue Blink" everything shows up again on the primary monitor.  The issue is that all of the items on the desktop are an utter mess.
What this sounds like to me is that for some reason when you desktop is coming up after logging in is that the "other" monitor is where it is being drawn, and then the 30" is enabled, made the main monitor, but the resolutions got screwed up in the switching, and that screwed up the icon and window layout.  If I didn't know better it sounds like you are using SwitchResX and don't have it configured correctly.  I say that because I believe I could simulate what you describe by setting up SwitchResX to do that.
Currently I have 3 monitors attached to my system.  One is for the TV and defaulted to be disabled using SwitchResX.  When I log in I also get that "blue flash" but that is SwitchResX setting up my default monitor configuration as it disables the TV connection (SwitchResX is a login item).  But since I have a proper SwitchResX configuration my primary monitor (27") and my secondary monitor (VGA) come up properly (after the flash).  But it's that flash you describe that made me think of SwitchResX.
As for the System Profiler displays information, I don't know what order it decides to list that stuff.  But I don't think it has anything to do with a "priority".

  • P7n, 2-card sli, 3rd card for 2nd monitor

Anyone got 2-card SLI and a 3rd vid card for a 2nd monitor working?
System: p7n, 4GB OCZ Vista gold PC-6400 RAM, Pentium D930 for testing, 2 MSI NX8800GTs, Vista x64 installed, SB Xfi that's included with the MB, one 500gb WD SATA hard drive and an IDE DVD.  I plan to move my RAID card over from my eVGA system in my sig if I can get this working...but I need more than 1 monitor.
    Nothing overclocked!!
I can't get SLI to work with a 3rd video card.  I've tried an eVGA 8400GS...no SLI option in the nVidia ctrl panel, eVGA 8500, no boot, the fans spin for a fraction of a second, and the leds flash and that's it, and an ATi 1800xtx...errors in Vista about incompatible hardware.
With the 8400GS, there's no longer any option for SLI in the nVidia control panel, which there was with only the 2 8800GTs on the previous boot.
I've got a 650W PS with dual PCI-E leads, and the system is currently pulling less than 300W, so this shouldn't be an issue.
I've built hundreds of systems, but this is my first SLI system.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, the MB will occasionlly fail to boot with just the 2 8800gts, I just get the fan spin/led flash.  Bad motherboard?  The only way to get it to boot again is to pull one of the8800gts and restart, sometimes the bios needs to be reset.

Got the solution I was looking for via the forums at nvidia.com from jaafaman
    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=60345&st=0&p=330530&
The third card works best as an nVidia so it can use the same driver. Right now, I'm using two 8800GTS640s in SLI and a 6200OC as the third, with a 20" WS for the SLI and two 17" WS attached to the third card.
And to date, Vista is the only OS where this is possible!
Start by mounting the cards, installing the one single ForceWare driver and mounting your monitors as above. Make sure your monitors are working in non-SLI mode before setting SLI up.
Open the Device Manager, and under Display Adapters you will see all three cards listed. Right-Click on the third card's entry and choose the "Disable" option. Close the Device Manager and reboot the system.
Once Vista fires back up with the third card disabled, the option to run SLI will show up in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Enable SLI as you normally would, and regardless of whether or not you have to reboot to enter SLI, once SLI is enabled you must reboot at least one time so that Vista starts up with SLI active.
Once SLI is enabled and Vista has been rebooted, you can open the Device Manager again and re-enable the third card.
At that point, you can do whatever you need with the other monitor(s) as you normally would. You can't extend the SLI rendering to the extra screens, but you can still extend the Vista Desktop, etc. and run apps or child windows as you normally would.
To get out of SLI, reverse the process. The key is in having the third card DISABLED while enabling or disabling SLI with a reboot.
A poster named Fredrik finalized this process as an illustrated guide in the SLI Zone and it was "stickied" there for permanent display. Oddly enough, the Guide is labelled Guide: Run Multiple Monitors with SLI, Vista, 3 Nvidia Cards, 2 cards in SLI and one for up to 2 other monitors. As one of the original participants, the title of your own thread is what caught my eye. Thought maybe someone else had discovered this as well...

  • MacBook Pro performance issues w/2nd monitor and FCP7

I have this MacBook Pro bought brand-new in January 2010:
      Model Name: MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,2
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 1
      Total Number Of Cores: 2
      L2 Cache: 6 MB
      Memory: 8 GB
      Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
and until today had never attached a second monitor to it. Today I hooked up my Samsung 24" to do some dual screen editing in Final Cut 7.0.3. I was unable to play back my video at full speed in the second monitor, and after a few seconds of skippy playback I'd get that error message about unable to play back video at full speed and to check my RT settings. I was using a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. My computer has no issues playing the video in the laptop's monitor at any resolution and any quality settings (I've never changed the RT settings or anything else in the menu ever but I tried every combination this time). I then tried using my TV as a 2nd monitor with an HDMI adapter. Same performance issues. I then tried my friend's newer 13" MBP 8,1 and it performed flawlessly with the same project & footage. I feel like my $3,000 computer should outperform a $1,200 one even if mine is a year and a half older. Any advice?
    Chris

Wow, you posted this perfectly to coincide with an identical problem, albeit using Logic Pro 9.1.5 rather than FCP.
Last week, I purchased a 23" external monitor to use alongside my "flagship" 2011 15" hi-res, 2.3 i7 Macbook Pro with 8Gb of RAM.
It is connected via a mini-DVI to D-sub analog (not that that should matter?) and all appeared fine.
The first issue I had was with my MBP's fan now running CONSTANTLY, when I have the second monitor attached. Even when the machine is completely idle.
When using the machine to record audio, this is a fairly hefty problem and not something I had anticipated - indeed why would I anticipate such a thing?
What is far, far worse though is that over the last few days I have had repeated problems with performance drop-outs and errors in Logic and I have trying to fathom out why. Realising that the only major system change made, was the above monitor connection, I ran some tests.
I restarted my MBP, no other apps were running and with my new 23" monitor attached acting as main display with MBP built in display on as secondary
I loaded up a fairly demanding Logic project which was hitting 40% to 60% CPU usage when using the built in MBP display last week
I ran activity monitor and had CPU usage history open
The above project now repeatedly overloads and playback halts in a given 8 bar section - with CPU at 80% most of the time
I disconnected the external display, no shut down, I just let the machine switch to the built in 15".
Started the same project, the same 8 bar section and hey presto - CPU usage back down to 40% to 60%
The above was reflected in the CPU usage history with the graph showing CPU use down by about a half, when running this Logic project WITHOUT the external display.
There is a very useful benchmark Logic project that has been used as a test by many users to gauge Logic performance on given Apple hardware.
The project has about 100 tracks pre-configured with CPU intensive plugins, designed to tax the CPU.
The idea is that you load up the project with tracks muted, press play and then unmute the tracks steadily until Logic us unable to play contiunously because of a system performance error.
On my MBP, with the external monitor NOT attached, I can play back around 50 of the audio tracks in this benchmark project.
With the monitor attached, I can get about 22 tracks playing.... which is actually a far worse a performance drop (-50% I think!?) than with the first example!
I did also try with just the external monitor attached and not the MBP display and performance was about 10% better than with dual monitors - so still extremely poor, to say the least.
This machine is the flagship MBP and has a dedicated AMD Radeon HD6750 GPU which should take care of most if not ALL graphics processing - I mean it's capable of running some pretty demanding games!
Putting aside the issue of constant fan noise, there is no reason AT ALL, why using an external monitor should tax the i7 CPU this way - it's not as though Logic is graphically demanding... far from it.
I am on 10.6.8, Logic 9.1.5, all apps up to date via "Software Update".

  • HT1338 cannot connect my MacBook Air to a projector  -does not detect and 2nd monitor. I have a new Mini port to VGA cable made by apple. When I read online I see that many people have the same problem - Is this an Apple defect??????????????????

I cannot connect my MacBook Air to a projector - It will not detect a 2nd monitor or display. I am using an Apple made Mini Display port to VGA adapter. As I read online I see that many other peple are having the same problem. Is this an Apple defect!!???? If so it just burst the bubble about how great macs are. I never had a problem with that on a PC. I hope I am wrong. What can you tell me?

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
