Organizer 8 won't read SLT-A33 raw files

I updated to 6.2 camera raw plugin, but Organizer 8 still refuses to import .ARW raw files taken with my Sony SLT-A33. For example, from folder view I right click on a folder where I have Sony SLT-A33 .ARW files stored and select "Add Unmanaged Files to Catalog", and I end up with a message telling me that the .ARW file is an unsupported format. What gives?

Are you able to open the files in Editor? Does it throw a similar prompt like the
one on Organizer?
Open Editor->Help->About Plug-in->Camera Raw . What version does the popup display for the Camera Raw plug-in?
Are you sure you installed the ACR 6.2 correctly as listed on the link : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4810
Steps of installation from the above link:
To install with Adobe Photoshop Elements:
NOTE: You must follow all of the new instructions in order to successfully install the Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop Elements.
1. Exit Photoshop Elements
2. Open the download file and double-click CameraProfiles.exe and follow the on-screen instructions
3. Open My Computer
4. Double-click Local Disk (C:)
5. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 8\File Formats\
6. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
7. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as Step 5.
8. Launch Photoshop Elements

  • CS4 won't read Canon T1i raw files

CS4 won't read Canon T1i raw files. Is this a known problem? Is there an update or plugin that I need to download? If so, where can I find it? Thanks for your help.

T1i support was added in Camera Raw 5.4. It sounds like your Camera Raw may be out of date.
From within Photoshop, choose "Updates…" from the Help menu. It'll do its thing and eventually Adobe Updater should tell you updates are available. Run through that install process and you should be set to go.
Note that you will have to quit Photoshop during the installation process, so make sure all your work is saved.

  • DNG 8.4 won't read Nikon D7100 raw files?

When i go to the folder containing images from D7100, DNG 8.4 does not show any files to be converted even though there are image files (both NEF and JPG) in the folder.
    What am I missing?

I have never used NX2, but I know that it will not recognize or read DNG files. I also know that older versions of Nikon Transfer would damage NEF files so that Adobe products could not read them. Personally, I feel the best approach is to download directly from the card using whatever software you plan to do your work with. For instance, I downloaded using the Lightroom import facility. There really isn't any need to use Nikon software to download NEF files from a Nikon camera. Just as a side note, I use a couple of older Nikon cameras, and I do not convert to DNG. I find little advantage to converting, and since Lightroom fully supports both of my cameras I find it convenient and acceptable to work with the original NEF files.

  • PSE8 CR6.2 SLT-A33 Raw Images Distorted on Load

We're using PSE8 with Camera Raw 6.2 to edit Sony SLT-A33 raw files. We have taken some photos that have the sun in them. When we view the raw files in Camera Raw 6.2, the sun is a bright artificial red ball. And if there are any people in the forground of the picture, they are a bright artificial blue color. If we view the files in Photo Elements 8 Organizer or any other photo viewer that can view raw files, the picture looks normal.
Obviously, this has something to do with Camera Raw 6.2. Is anyone else experiencing anything similar, or have any idea what may be causing this? At this point, we're afraid to try to edit any raw photos in Camera Raw 6.2.

The reds and blues you are seeing are likely due to the clipping indicators being turned on.  Red indicates highlight clipping (one or more of the RGB channels is completely maxed out) and blue indicates shadow clipping (one or more of the RGB channels is zeros).
You can enable and disable the highlight clipping indicators by clicking on the triangles at either end of the histogram.  A thin white frame around the indicator means the warning will be persistent and you can turn it off by clicking on it.  When the indicator is not persistent you can get a temporary indication of clipping by hovering over one of the triangles.

  • Photoshop CS won't read 5.2 DNG files

I recently had a student use the stand alone DNG converter V.5.2 on his Canon 5D Mark II raw files but Photoshop CS won't read the resultant .dng files. Our copy of CS3 reads them ok but he only has CS and neither his version of CS nor ours will read the files. My understanding has been that .dng files can be read by any version of Photoshop that works with Raw files. Is this no longer true? Or was it never true? Thanks.

    Hi Thomas,
Installing 2.4 took care of the problem. Boy, does the CS version of Camera Raw seem crude compared to the full featured version you've given us now. I remember it as being pretty impressive at the time but I sure wouldn't want to have to go back to it. I think I've convinced the student how much he's missing out on by not having CS4 but at least he'll be able to work with his Raw files until he upgrades. Thanks for your help.

  • How do I get LR3 and CS5 read Nikon P7700 raw files?

Just bought a Nikon P7700 so I can use the Raw feature.  CS5 and LR3 do not read the P7700 Raw Files....does Adobe have an update and/or plugin for this?

It depends.....if your normal route into PS is through Lightroom and the "Edit in..." process, then no you won't need to update PS as well as Lightroom will handle the Raw conversion. But if you have a need to directly open raw files into Photoshop's ACR plug-in, then yes you would need to upgrade PS as well.

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.4

  • I have Lightroom 1.4.1 and I just started shooting the Nikon D700.  I cannot get Lightroom to read my new raw files, help...

I have Lightroom 1.4.1 and I just started shooting the Nikon D700.  I cannot get Lightroom to read my new raw files, help...  Is there a plug in or update I can get?  I can't afford new software after new camera and new lense!

Lightroom 1.4.1 does not support native (NEF) files from the D700 because the camera didn't even exist when it was released. To get support you have two options: upgrade to Lr 2.x (paid for upgrade) or convert your NEF files to DNG.
DNG converter 5.4 can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ (see right hand side of page)

  • Reading new camera raw files

Waiting until a camera manufacturer supplies you with a new camera and then waiting until you add the code to LR messes everyone up. Why can't you have LR read new camera raw files if the file format is the same as a similar camera as a generic conversion. Then when you do the thing right and add the proper conversion code, then use that conversion.

Because just because a company like Canon or Nikon doesn't change the file
extension doesn't mean the raw files from one camera to another are anywhere
close to being the same. Think about. Raw files is the raw data from the
cameras sensor. This changes from one camera to another. There is no generic
raw data each camera generates something different and that needs to be
taken in to account so that ACR and all other raw processing programs can
handle the data correctly. Otherwise you picture of cousin Lurch could come
    out purple with yellow polka-dots.
If you want a generic format tell the camera makers to use DNG. That is
about as generic as you are going to get.

You will need to wait for the next camera raw update. You have two alternatives:
    (1) Use Nikon software to convert. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your NEF files to the Adobe Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your original NEF’s as backups and for use in Nikon software)

Why won't elements 12 download raw files from Nikon D810?  I got a message saying that the camera model is not supported by installed version of camera raw.  How do I fix it?

Photoshop Elements questions should be posted in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum. Somehow your thread got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).
You can re-post your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and move it from here to there.
My opinion on this....from the Photoshop Elements perspective...
Nikon D810 is supported by Camera Raw 8.6 and higher (latest version of Camera Raw is 8.7)
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
At the same time, the Camera Raw version needs to be supported by the Photoshop Elements version.
Photoshop Elements 12 appears to support Camera Raw up to 8.5 which does not support the Nikon D810.
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    Solution...
    a. switch to Photoshop Elements 13 (comes with Camera Raw 8.6 and can be updated to 8.7).
    b. use the DNG Converter in Photoshop Elements 12

  • Why won't my CS4 open RAW files(CR2)?

    Why won't my CS4 open RAW files(CR2)?

Raw support is version specific. Newer cameras require newer versions of PS.

  • Why won't Aperture 2 support RAW files imported from Canon 60D when it does from my Olympus DSLR?

Why won't Aperture 2 support RAW files imported from Canon 60D when it does from my Olympus DSLR?

I'm afriad the fact that your Olympus dSLR is supported is no relevance.
The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Support for individual camera models has to be added one by one, and Apple will update the OS to work with the most recent version of the software. That's an incentive for you to keep up-to-date. So, for support for your 60D you'll need 10.6.5 plus Aperture 3 and/or iPhoto 11.

  • I cannot read Nikon D600 raw files with CS5

I cannot read Nikon D600 raw files with CS5, I have tried Camera Raw 6.1 update but that has not worked.

Nikon D 600 will work with ACR 7.3 which needs minimum of PS CS 6  : http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
With PS CS 5, ACR 7.3 will not work.
So either you need to upgrade to CS 6 or use DNG converter to convert images to DNG format which you can open in CS 5
