Organizer and "My Pictures"

Apologies, but I have tried everything I can think of, looked at tutorials, searched web but cannot find an answer.
I thought it is possible to see "my pictures" in Organizer 10? I have tried to import folders manually but nothing happens and I have "Watched Folders" set up correctly.
Please how do I see "my pictures" in organizer?
Currently I have a Trial Version that I downloaded yesterday. I will be reluctant to upgrade to full licensed version unless I can get this sorted!

Navigate to Pictures or My Pictures and press Ctrl+A (To select all images & sub-folders)
Click Get Media or Open.

Where do I find my original picture after editing it in the organizer and saiving it

I am brand new to photoshop elements. I edited a photo in the editor and saved it with another name. I now can not find the original picture. What happened to it?

When you are working in the Organizer in PSE13, by default you are shown a display of the thumbnails where each thumbnail is maximized without any text, file name or details.
That's a new display mode in version 13. You can switch the display mode to the old 'detailed' view, where the thumbnail is smaller, but shown with the file name and details if you have selected that option in the "View" menu. To switch, use either the View menu or the shortcut Ctrl D.
When you have edited a picture from the Organizer, the new picture you have created is linked to the original, they are in a 'version set'. Only the more recent version is shown by default. When you have switched to 'detailed view', there is a small triangle on the right of the thumbnail. Click on it, and all versions will be displayed side by side.
Is that what you want?
If you have created a version set, a small icon should appear on the top ritht of the thumbnail even in non-detailed display mode.

PSE12 Organizer - can you copy photo from one folder to another and import copy into Organizer and still have original in other folder

I have been using folders to organize all my pictures and I will copy photos from folder to folder, often having them in 2 or 3 folders based on use. I tried to copy a photo in Organizer PSE12 from one folder to another and you can only move it, that means I can only have one copy of the photo. That is fine if I am using tags and want to search for it, but I want to have mult copies in mult folders. Organizer will recognize that it is there but it won't import it into the new folder. Until I move it, it stays in the original folder. I can drag it out of Organizer and drop (copy) it into a new folder fine, but it won't show in organizer in the new folder. Is there any way to copy and have multiple copies show up in multiple folders?

Hi,
The organizer works on the principle of not having multiple copies of the same photo.
If you have multiple copies spread in different folders, then making changes to one doesn't affect the others. The use of tags and albums are there to give different views of your photos.
You can't have multiple copies with exactly the same name even if they are in different folders. You could select a photo and duplicate it (File -> Duplicate) and then move the copy into a different folder but the name will be different.
If you want different folders for a specific reason, it is possible to use albums to collect the group of photos and then export them to a new folder outside of the organizer. You can also rename on export which is useful if you want to arrange the photos in a specific order.

Organizer and external hard drive

I have 20,000 pictures in Organizer, and am always terrified of losing my work here, captions tags etc, which happened once before. So, I do periodical back-ups. As I use Organizer for all of my work, I have not worried about folders, which are a mess, and also, I now realise that half of my pictures are on my c drive and the remainder on my external hard drive, and they are all jumbled up.
Is it possible to save on both? Probably not, so is there a quick method of finding and transferring all of those pictures on my external hard drive, to the c drive? One day, my external hard drive might malfunction and vice verca.

Yes, I do wish to put everything onto my 'C' drive. At present, some are on external hard drive (I) and others on 'C' drive. So, I would need a system of getting all the I pictures and then converting them to 'C'. Is this possible? I am afraid that one day my external hard drive might not work.

Lightroom versus PhotoShop Elements Organizer and Bridge

I hope someone of the Developer team is reading this!!
For my understanding the three products out of one house (PhotoShop Elements Organizer, Bridge and Lightroom) doing about the same, should ...
work the same (same idea, same behaviour, organizing by path/subfolders instead of cataloges etc.)
maintain the same database and files (LR should recognize the collections from BR and Vice Versa, use the same cache files etc.) and should
be compatible to each other (e.g. Tags, Collections etc)
Actually I suggest ADOBE
to eliminate Organizer and integrate the good functions into BRIDGE (e.g. albums, upload to flickr, webpage generation etc)
give BRIDGE as the free of charge picture organizer to PS Elements and to PS CS
change LIGHTROOM into an payable upgrade of BRIDGE with enhanced functionality of the free of charge BRIDGE, (which can work as a stand-alone software as it does today
better integration of PSE, PS CS into Bridge/Lightroom (e.g. Panaorama function opens only PS CS but the version of PSE works much better, so I want to choose in the menu of Bridge/Lightroom)
I am really struggling with the three of them.
Beside that I suggest to get rid of the Catalog idea of Lightroom with it's import/export and synchronization needs and instead use or at least integrate the idea of BRIDGE to get pictures structured and organized by path and subfolders, as this is anyhow how the way pictures are stored already for most of us... I asume. I doubt that anybody just throw all files into one big subdirectory and get the organized into cataloges. But please keep collections as they are helpful to quickly collect some pictures to commonly work on them. by drag & drop. The Catalogues of LR drives me crazy but LR have a lot of nice functions (e.g. Webupload interfaces to flickr and others, nice noice reduction, nice albums and webpage functions, etc.)

Whereas Bridge and Photoshop Elements (and most non-LR users) base their organisation on the file / folder structure, Lightroom uses files / folders simply for storage - the catalog is used for organisation. This 'catalog based approach' provides far more flexibility, both in organisation, and in recording a complete, fully-reversible record of all edits made to each photograph.
To suggest that Adobe "get rid of the Catalog idea of Lightroom" and "get pictures structured and organized by path and subfolders" would remove almost ALL advantages Lightroom has over Bridge & PS Elements combined. To fully appreciate Lightroom, you need to appreciate that files and folders are not the only way to organise photos. Why not watch a few of the Adobe Lightroom Tutorial videos? Change date on PES8 Organizer and file properties

Hi,
I change the date of the vue in the metadata of a photo with PES8 Organizer and update it with the option in the "file" menu (write the.... and properties in the photo).
The problem is : The date in the properties (right clic on windows on the photo file / properties of the file) is different (few hours) of the date that PES8 Organizer would have change. I'm very embarassed to organize my pictures.
Does anybody can help me ? Does anybody have this trouble ?

Lack of consistency between folders in Elements 11 Organizer and Finder (mac). Why?

I use Elements 11 Organizer and Photoshop Elements Editor on a mac (OS X 10.8.2).
I experience problems after I made some changes in the Image-folder on the mac and after moving/deleting folders directly in Elements Organizer. Now there are noe consistency between folders/files visible in Finder/Pictures and in My Folders in Elements Organizer.
One example: Directly in Finder, I created a new folder and moved pictures from two folders which I then deleted. In Elements Organizer, I still see the old structure (no new folder - still the deleted folders included the picture files).
I also experience folders in Elements Organizer that should not exist. When I right click on the folder, the options "Reveal in Finder", "Rename Folder" and "Delete folder" are greyed out and not clickable.
I have tried to refresh Elements Organizer, close it and restart the mac - nothing helps.
Can anyone please help me?

Not sure if you have used the 'My Folders' or 'Show folder list' in the left folder panel ? Those two ways to display and work with folders must be understood before doing experiments, especially if you use Finder/Explorer to control results. You need to give more details on your procedure to make things clear.
See the video about the 'New UI' in the welcome screen.
And of course, Barbara is right about giving the priority to managing media files by tags albums and dedicated organizer tools.

APP CRASH in 7.0 upon Opening Organizer and Editor - Vista - Help!

When I open my Photoshop Elements 7.0 Organizer, the pictures load and then I get a message that the program is closing due to APP CRASH.
Any ideas why this may be happening? Is there a limit on the number of photos in a catalog? I can't imagine that I am over the limit on this. We have gone through several troubleshooting recommendations including reinstalling the program and it is still crashing upon opening. Now the Editor is crashing too! Any ideas? Thanks!

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Organizer might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash. Here are troubleshooting steps to try:

Given that both the Organizer and the Editor are crashing, start with step 4, installing the licensing-service update, and if that doesn't help, try the others. Even if you think you've tried something similar, repeat the step exactly as described.

Kind of broken communication between Organizer and Editor PSE 9

Hi,
Today I when I opened my PSE 9 Organizer to select and edit some photots uploaded yesterday, when I selecrt3ed the photos and clicked Fix>Full Photo Edit menu, the Editor opened fine, BUT no photo appeared on the Editor as always. This is the first time this happens and I have been working for more than a year with PSE9 without any problems.
Now, in order to edit the selected photos on the organizer, once the Editor opens (showing no photo) i have to open the Editor´s Project Bin at the bottom and then select "show files selected in the organizer" and there they are, but this didn´t happened before.

Maybe I did not explain myself very well, but what I have been doing for a long time, was selecting one ...or several pictures for editing from within the organizer, and after the Editor opened, there was always a picture on the body of the Editor, ready to be edited, but NOT so anymore since today in the morning. It is not a big deal, because as I explained on my first post, now I have to look for the pictures in the Editor´s project bin and select the one I like to edit, but it is odd that this just happened today after almost two years of being working the other way.
Is there some way to repair the installation of PSE9?

PSE 11 Organize and Edit AutoPlay does not have PhotoDownloader associated

Since upgrading from PSE 8 to PSE11 the Windows AutoPlay item for "Organize and Edit" does not have an associated program. It shoud be the PSE 11 PhotoDownloader.

"Organize and Edit using Adobe Elements Organizer 11.0" is on the AutoPlay list for Pictures, but the PhotoDownloader program is not associeated with it. Not sure how that happened. Don't know how to change/add a program to that option.

Keyword and IPTC Syncronisation of 13.000 jpg and dng pictures

I have one catalogue with 13.ooo DNG pictures. In this catalogue I put 13.ooo JPG pictures with the same file name. Difference of cause .dng and .jpg As all JPG pictures have all IPTC informations and keywords too, I want to import these informations to the DNG files. Up to now I click one jpg picture at the time, synchronize IPTC Datas with the corresponding dng. Then copy keywords and paste them into dng. 13.ooo pictures. Is there any simple method to do this job? Thanks a lot.

Not sure why this is happening this way but may be closing PSE processes which access and work upon files in the background might make a difference.
Please launch Organizer and click Edit >> Preferences >> Media Analysis and turn off all checkboxes.
From the task manager, kill the following exes if running-
ElementsAutoAnalyzer
Adobe Photoshop File Agent
Dynamic Link Manager
repeat your workflow and check if the issue still happens.

Saving albums in organizer to "my pictures"

I have created a "best of" album in my organizer that contains pictures from MANY different years of pictures. I would like to have them in "my pictures" on my computer as well. Is there a way to do this? All I can find are the folders that contain pictures for the different years that I have uploaded into the organizer.

You would have to create a folder in My Pictures, and then write duplicates of your photos to this folder. If you would like to do that, then select all of the photos in your album, then File->Export->As New Photos, and export them to the new folder you just created.
In my opinion, a better idea is to simply not do the export and not create the duplicates; instead view the album inside of PSE. It's much less work. (Of course, if you want to send the photos to someone else or somewhere else like the internet, then this paragraph doesn't apply)

PSE 8 organize and edit does not come up automatically like it use to

When I connect my camera or a thumb drive to my computer, PSE 8.0 edit and organize use to come up automatically and made it easy to import pictures. However, that automatic feature no longer works. Now I'm given the choice to select "Organize and Edit using Adobe Elements Organizer 8.0". And when I click this, I get the message, "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." I've tried to correct this but have had no luck. I realize I can open PSE organized, click on File, and then on Get photos and videos, then click From camera or scanner, and then... So, if you know how to get this automatically running again, i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the automatic reaction to plugging in your camera is a function of the Operating System. But we should be able to do something about that, but it depends on which OS.
Win XP
With the camera plugged in and turned on, if you go to My Computer your camera should be listed (like any other drive, but have a camera icon). If you right-click and go to Properties, you should have an Events tab. With the event set to "Camera connected" go to the Actions section. At this point, it is probably set to "Prompt for which program to run". Change it to "Run this program:" and choose Elements Organizer from the drop-down list.
Windows Vista/7
With the camera plugged in and turned on, if it does not open automatically, go to the device settings (Control Panel>Devices and Printers and select the camera). Click on "Change general settings". From the "When this device connects to this computer" drop-down, choose "Organize and Edit with Adobe Elements Organizer 8".

Problem with sending and downloading pictures on c...

I have a problem with downloading and sending pictures in chat. It says that "sending canceled" under the picutre ... Why is that ? I didn't do anything with it. Please help me solve this problem !

What version of Windows are you on (XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 )? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.
P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.
