Why does organizer crash @ keyword save
why does organizer crash at keyword tag save? Elements 9 Organizer, Mac OS 10.7.4
Hello, PECourtejoie
I appreciate you taking to time to assist me, but unfortunately, this has done absolutely nothing for my problem.
I've spent hours looking for a solution to this problem on the forums for the past few days, before deciding to bother anybody, and I've seen this solution has been suggested multiple times for people with similar issues to mine, but like most of them, it has not resolved the issue. I've noticed that most of those posts / questions are eventually abandoned completely and I really don't want this to happen to mine.
EDIT:
I forgot to add that this:
The Plugins\Adobe Save for Web CS6\Photoshop folder is completely empty.
Is this normal?
Thank you again! -
PSE10 Organizer crashes when using the "find a missing person" button
I have been using PSE10 for about six months and have about 10500 images in the catalog, mostly digital but also some scanned slides I have been gradually adding. All images have been added using the "find files" button. I have been making use of tagging by using the people recognition routine and have reached the point where PSE10 says all people have been found. Since then I have gone through about 1000 individual images using the "find a missing person" button with good success until recently. Now when I try to save the tag after using the button Organizer crashes with the message "Elements 10 Organizer has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and will notify you if a solution is available". I have tried optimizing and repairing the catalog without sucess. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling PSE10, also without success. The catalog is in a custom location but has been since shortly after I started using PSE10 and well before this problem started. With the amount of time and effort spent doing this tagging I would not like to have to start over with a new catalog if a solution can be found. My computer is Vista 64-bit with 8GB memory. This problem is driving me nuts!! HELP!!

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. There were several error entries for PSE all of which had the same description up to but not including "process ID". This was the result of restarting PSE10 several times. Information above is from the last restart. -
When I edit a photo in editor and save to organizer, organizer crashes. Any ideas?
Hi, thanks for replying. No it has never worked and it crashes on the blue loading square in all cases including directly from applications.
-
We were getting repeated crashes on save when saving to our file server. So I finally moved one of our users to saving locally only to troubleshoot the problem. Now he is getting crashes when saving locally. Crash logs have been sent, but I would like to know if anyone else has seen this issue. I am getting frustrated with CS4, but don't want to be promoting a move to CS5 if this issue is not going to be resolved.
Below is a portion of the crash log up to the crashed thread.

Are you attaching color profiles to the file? Try saving the file without a color profile to see of this solves your problem. -

0x34da000 - 0x34fefThanks for the reply. I tried each solution on the fonts troubleshooting page you sent.
It seemed to correct the problem temporarily.
But I still get crashes when I try to open and save.
Seems photoshop only crashes when I open a file in column view and it tries to "preview" the file I want to open, if that makes sense.
I might add, these are fairly large files, 3+GB each.
I guess I could just take it off column view.
Thanks. -
Elements 8 Organizer crashes when opening from Editor
Hi,
on my new OS Win7, 64-bit Elements Orgenizer (EO) shuts down with an error message after the following actions:
Open EO
Select a foto and open it in Elemtns Foto Editor for editing
Return to the Organizer before or after any modifications to the foto via the Organizer-Icon in the right corner of the menu bar of the Editor
After a few milliseconds the Organizer crashes and a big white box appears telling that Organizer was shut down because of an error and asking wether an error report should be sent to Adobe.
This situation newer showed up on my old Vista (32-bit) system, where I had the same version of Elemnts 8 installed. I already sent several error reports to Adobe - no response yet. Running the program in XP (Service Pack 2) or Vista (Service Pack 2) compatability mode didn't fix the problem. I think Elements 8 has a problem when running on a 64-bit system.
Are there any suggestions or hints on how to avoid this crash or how to proceed?
Thank's in advance
HelmutUnfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Organizer might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash:

InDesign CS6 (CC edition) crashes on save/export
I'm having trouble with InDesign CS6 crashing every single time I attempt to save or export a document I just finished. It has never been saved before, other documents save and close fine, I've tried removing all the links from the file, and it still crashes on save. I've tried copying it, and the moment I tell it to place the document on the clipboard it crashes. I don't know what else could POSSIBLY be causing this crash. There is no crash or error reports.
And you know what, Peter? If the Sync guys were giving us the same level of care and compassion you are, I'd wouldn't be even a fraction as upset. But we're told to hold sync in one hand, their rhetoric in the other, and see which fills up first. Adobe should hire you for PR, because THIS is the kind of customer service I want to see out of a company charging multiple thousands of dollars for its products. As for sync, I understand the dev time, but why pull down the beta when it was still functioning? Why ignore the public that is asking simply for help making business decisions? As you said, you don't do it for business but you DO rely on it, so you can understand where even if we don't like the answers, we need to hear SOMETHING, we need to at least know the scope of the timetable we're looking at. Are we looking at a few weeks, a few months, or a year or two?
Telling people who are locked in a contract with adobe to utilize a different product for sync is like me buying a toaster and being told, when it doesn't work, to just go use a skillet. Yes it can do the job, and had I wanted it to do the job I never would have bought a toaster. But I wanted a toaster. I was offered a toaster. Most importantly I paid for a toaster and am still paying a protection plan for it, but when it doesn't work I'm told "Oh, we know. We're making a new toaster, so we turned off all the old toasters. When we finish our new toaster you'll recieve one of our brand new toasters." and while that scenario doesn't sound completely implausible, as there have been recalls in the past, instead of becoming irate that our perfectly functional toasters were turned off, we simply asked "well how long?" and we were told a month. So we waited 5 weeks, and said "Ok guys, your new toasters should be here by now. What gives?" and were replied to with "Oh, well thank you for your patience, but we've got another couple weeks on your toasters." now it's been two months, and still no toaster. Sure it's a Sony toaster. Sony's never made toasters before. But sony having never made toasters before is no excuse for locking people into a contract on the promise of a toaster, then you turned off their toaster, and just keep promising "the toaster's in the mail" Adobe may not have ever done cloud sync software before, but they HAVE done marketing, business to business relationships, and customer service. Saying they don't know about sync programs is a non starter argument, because they are failing in areas they've been engaged in for YEARS. I may not know a THING about software development, but I know you don't just tell your paying customers to sit on it and wait until it's done without any idea of when that will be, PARTICULARLY when doing so puts you in breech of contract. -
Recently I transferred my 18.000+ PSE 10 catalog to another hard drive. Everything went well but ....
After importing the first batch of new photo's the organizer suddenly crashed. This never happened before.
For the last 10 days I have been searching for a solution with no result. Among other options I have removed the Thumb.5.cache file, and removed the psa.prf and status.dat files. Concerning the first option, removing the Thumb.5.cache file, it seemed to work, but after rebuilding the cache file the organizer crashed again.
I am getting kind of desperate, is there anybody out there who has any idea's?
Thank you in advance,
Laurens Swarte
the Netherlands. The solution is in the above.
Should Adobe read this, they should take note that a virtualized environment does not provide a decent fidelity emulation of multi-core CPU systems. The ONLY way to test the reliability of an application is on REAL hardware. -
Elements 10 organizer crashing
I have recently upgraded to Elements 10 and the organizer is exhibiting some strange behaviors.
1. It seems to crash A LOT. (You know "Photoshop Element Organizer has stopped working - checking for a solution to the problem") It has crashed several times when I tried to create new catagories but it also just seems to crash randomly.
2. Frequently the pictures in the organizer appear fuzzy if I push up the viewing size. This never happened with the previous verisions I used -- Pictures were always crystal clear. I have gone to the source files and they are fine.
I am running PSE 10 on a brand new HP quad core computer running windows 7. My photos are stored on an external drive because I have approximately 50,000 photos.
If anyone has had similar experiences or has a suggestion I would be very gratefulHoward What you state supports my contention. OE and PRE are not compliant with Aero, and show these problems. PSE is compliant (partially) and it seems to work okay. Take care and stay tuned. John H.

Ok, this time I really mean it -- I give up on Organizer. It simply isn't ready for prime time. I'm no technologist so I can't relate to APIs, GUIs, CODECs, etc but I can relate to "works" or "don't work" and this program does not work. Occasionally working for short periods of time does not qualify as "works". As I mentioned above, it looked like EO was ignoring my folder selection and importing from my mirrored image. Well, it turns out that it was importing from the correct folder -- at least as long as it would run it was -- but reported location incorrectly in the properties box. I disabled my backup (X:) drive and properties reported that the file was on the "C:" drive which is correct. While leaving the properties box up I simply enabled the mirrored drive and, wa la,the properties box changed and started reporting that the file was on the "X:" drive. Because of all the Exception code 5 entries that were reporting problems with codecs and dlls I had already started uninstalling things and reducing the types of media files that I was trying to organize. Then it occurred to me that was nuts. I already have a couple of organizers in Windows Live Photo Gallery and Google Picasso 3 that actually do work. The hope of visual search simply isn't enough to overcome "don't work". I'll keep using PSE10 - I like it -- but I'll skip this poor excuse for an organizer. Maybe down the road when the Adobe folks figure out how to make an application like this work I'll give it another shot. Adios my friend, good luck, and thanks for the help I was offered and given.

Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer crashes when importing m2ts files
When I import my collection of images and videos using "Import / From file and folders...", Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer crashes when importing one of my .m2ts files. When I debug it I get:
Unhandled exception at 0x1543025B (mc_demux_mp2_ds.ax) in PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe: 0xC0000094: Integer division by zero.
Is there a way for me to import m2ts files successfully? If not, then is there a way to skip importing these files.I do not have any version of Premiere Elements installed.
I never removed any files. This is a clean installation from a couple months ago when I got my new hard drive.

Organizer crashing in Photoshop Elements 10
Why are so many people having the Organizer crash in Photoshop Elements 10 and does anyone actually have a solution to the problem?
Just like every other application in the world, there are about a hundred different and unique situations where the Organizer crashes. The broad categories for why any application (including the Organizer) crashes are:
1. Interfering background/foreground applications
--Test: try runnning the software with all other background/foreground applications closed.
--Solution: Find the interfering application. If you don't need/use it, remove it from the computer. Otherwise, upgrade it to the latest version to help eliminate conflicts. Or don't run it while running the application in question.
--Document: Disable startup items, services | Windows (Mac users should run in Safe Boot to accomplish the same)
2. User account settings/permissions
--Test: create a new user account, log into it, run the application.
--Solution: There are a number of settings that are unique to your each user account. Some are tied to individual applications, some are system wide. However, we cannot dictate the full spectrum of personalization that happens per account.
--Document: Troubleshoot unexpected behavior | User account-specific | Adobe software | Windows 7, Vista
Troubleshoot unexpected behavior | User account-specific | Adobe software | Mac OS
3. User files
--Test: new blank files. In the case of Elements Organizer, this would be a new, blank catalog (File > Catalog > New)
--Solution: Try repairing your catalog (File > Catalog > Repair). The issue could also be tied to a file or files you've recently imported (i.e. around the time the crashing behavior began).
--Document: Troubleshoot catalog issues | Organizer | Elements 6 and later
4. Hardware conflicts
--Test: hardware is extremely difficult to test, and is also the least likely source of most issues.
--Solution: Make sure the drivers for your hardware are current, as downloaded and installed from the manufacturer's web site.
5. Other
--There are still other possible causes. Computers are very complex machines, so much so that each one as is as unique as your own fingerprint. Unless there is a bug in the application (i.e. the program crashes when you take steps x, y, z but otherwise operates correctly), there is going to be a unique solution to your particular issue.

Photoshop Elements 13 Organizer crashes when launched
I installed Photoshop Elements 13 a few days ago on my brand-new HP Envy laptop (Windows 8.1). I imported photos from two external hard drives, and experimented with tagging a few photo sets. I unplugged one of the hard drives, did some more tagging, and while I was tagging the Organizer crashed. When I tried to relaunch it, it crashed immediately after loading the catalog. After a restart, I relaunched the Organizer, and it stalled for several minutes while loading the catalog, then crashed as soon as the catalog was loaded. I've attempted to restart and relaunch several times and it always crashes immediately upon loading the catalog.
I do not have any version of Premiere Elements installed.
I never removed any files. This is a clean installation from a couple months ago when I got my new hard drive.

Photoshop Elements 7 Organizer crashing
Recently upgraded from Windows Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. Organizer was working fine but yesterday started to crash soon after opening.
I followed the John Rellis instructions but this did not help.
Before the crash I get a strange message that "The color scheme has been changed
I am running the Organizer in Windows XP SP 3 compatibility mode
Today I did not get the color scheme message but did get the attached error before the Organizer crashed - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error R6016 - not enough space for thread data.
Message was edited by: StefanjanI stopped using Elements 7 Organizer and now use Picasa instead because of this problem.
Interestingly when Picasa is open it throws exactly the same error message which I have not been able to resolve.
Picasa is more stable than Organizer though as it doesn't crash.
I wish I could solve this problem......
