Organizer Disappears after launch

I can launch my PS Elements 10 Organizer and it opens, briefly, then after a few seconds just disappears. When I open Task Manager and check my applications I can see it is still running. I did discover that if I open PSE10's Editor and then click on the Organizer tab from within Editor, then the Organizer icon appears on my system tray and I can double click it and then it opens, and stays open.
I've figured out the the problem is with my catalog. If I unselect my catalog in the catalog menu, and close it. Then PSE Organizer opens OK. I even tried rebuilding a new catalog (I only have about 47,000 images to load so it did take a while (like almost an hour) but then I was able to load the program and not have it disappear. Trouble is that now all my work of cataloging my images, that is identifying who's who in the pictures (like that facial recognition system) and tag photos with locations and other tags, as well as rate them with a star system, All that is gone. I'd really don't want to lose all that work.
I did try repair the catalog - it finds errors, and then starts the repair, then disappears. Thought it might be working in the background, just not visible, But if it did, the fix didn't help. Also tried optimze, same story.
Yes I tried the CTR-ALT-SHIFT while opening Editor - deleted the settings, ... no help.
A reinstall of PSE10 didn't help.
FYI - I'm running Windows 8 64bit and Windows 7 64 bit on a dual boot machine. Does not matter whether I'm in Win 8 or Win 7 the problem is the same. It is the same catalog. I really didn't want two different catalog so have my catalog on my data drive (my Operating Systems are each on their own SSD). I'm running 32 GB Ram, using an AMD A10 APU and HD6670 graphics card. I am running a three screen array using AMD Eyefinity to control the screens as one large 4800x900 display. I did discover that if I close PSE Editor and it was too big (spans all three screens) it won't open next time and I have to disable my Eyefinity array, open PSE Editor on one screen, close it and then when I re-enable the three screens it will open, just gotta remember not to close it when it spans the full display.
I did try the disabling the three monitor array and just using one monitor for PSE Organizer to see if that made any difference, that is not the problem.
I fear my catalog is currupt beyond repair and that all my work cataloging is lost.
Let me know if there is any way to recover, repair a catalog - or if I'm wrong in thinking that this is a catalog problem.

It dawned on me, I back up this catalog regularily I wonder if backing it up does any good. Well yes it does. I was able to recover a catalog backup from a short while ago and only had a couple of days worth of photo shoots to reload and it works. Now why didn't I think of that sooner - and why did none of the forums and other places where I sought help even think to ask if I backed up the catalog. One of those bang your heard Duh moments but it must have been a corrupt cataloge and a backup came to the rescue.
Always back up eh?

Captivate 5 window Disappears at Launch
On Mac Captivate 5.01 the program launches and the menu items show at the top of the screen, also the 3 red-yellow-green circles show to close the program - BUT THE WHOLE INTERFACE IS MISSING.
I tried changing the Window>Workspace, and also tried restarting the program and the computer, but nothing will show me the main interface dialogs to work on my project!! What is happening?? Any suggestions?

RodWard provided a correct answer that worked successfully. Many, many thanks. If anybody else has the same problem, here is a more complete description of the problem and the solution.
Platform: Mac OS 10.7.4, Captivate 5 or Captivate 5.5
Symptoms: After launch of the application, all the GUI disappears and only the top control bar and 3 colored circles are left. Sometimes trying some buttons can get the main GUI panels back, but it is hit and miss. Eventually, for me, nothing worked and there was no way to convince the main GUI panels to reappear.
Solution: Close Captivate. Launch Terminal. Type "cd Library", then type "open ." Navigate to Preferences and find the folder "Adobe Captivate 5" or "Adobe Captivate 5.5". Rename this folder, I changed the name to "Adobe Captivate 5 Old". Now restart Captivate. Everything works perfectly.

Personal Organizer disappeared after OS upgrade

This morning I was "told" that I needed to update my Facebook app for my Curve 8520. This failed and it turned out that I needed to upgrade from OS4 to OS5 in order to sort out Facebook.
I upgraded to OS5 and have successfully sorted out emails, texts, etc. However, I cannot find a Personal Organizer folder within Applications, or anywhere else on my phone.
This was the part of the phone that I use most as it held a lot of information that I use for work and it was a handy place to make a note of this info.
Please can someone tell me (a) how to find a Personal Organizer facility or (b) how to regress to OS4 so that I can use this function again.

I have a question. The other day, my brother installed the new Mac OS X 10.7 Lion on my MacBook, and my Windows Partition doesn't boot anymore...Do you think there's a way I can get it back? I'm not sure if it's completely gone...But I had a lot of videos and other important stuff that was on there...It says "disk0s4" and it's not mounted...

When I try and reimport them, Organizer says they are already in there and will not allow me to proceed. When I highlight a keyword, Get the message "NO MEDIA TO BE DISPLAYED". Perhaps I am dense, but I find the Search function of the Forum to be near useless, unless I just happen to type the Exact name of a topic.
I now have no access to perhaps 35,000 files from 12 years of using PSE!

Which version did you upgrade from? updated from PSE 13 to PSE 13.1
In the organizer, which view are you using - in the View menu is Details checked or unchecked - does it make any difference? was unchecked now checked. Now can see the other files, but the Keyword tags that I had attached in the past does not bring up the selected frames.
In the View menu, select Media types - are all checked? At this point I have only Ohotos and videos checked
In View menu, select Hidden Files - is Show All Files checked? yes
I'm assuming that you are in Media view, what happens if you select People Places or Events? get groupings of files with those keywords.

My mail app quits a few seconds after launching. I get a blank screen and then it goes back to the starter screen

THe mail app on my ipad 2 quits right after launching. This happened as I was forwarding an email with a long attachment. Now I get a blank screen with just the icons, no mail mailboxes etc. after a few seconds that blank screen disappears and we go back to the starter screen. I tried rebooting, relaunching but no luck so far. Can somebody help me? Thanks

Have you tried removing the email account from the app through settings? I would try removing it, rebooting, opening the email app to see if it still crashes, & then adding it back your email account.
If you're leary about causing more issues while you're not home, you could always try using a third party mail app (there are many), accessing your email through it...not a fix for your problem but a way to deal with the situation until you can get it worked out.
Resetting all settings on the iPad (not deleting content) is a good way to clear many errors as it can remove leftover cache files & files that have become corrupt.

90% of pictures disappeared after new program. Time machine folders mostly empty. Downloaded my Carbonite file. Can I restore directly from this file or do I have to drag and drop 20,000 pix?

90% of pictures disappeared after adding Maverick. My Time Machine folders were in the right order but mostly empty so useless for restore. Repair and rebuild attempts were not effective. Downloaded my Carbonite file which is now sitting on my desktop. Is there any way to use the restore command to rebuild my portfolio or do I have to drag & drop approx 20,000 pictures? Can album groupings and faces be retained?

Do you still have the original library that was present at the time you upgraded to Mavericks? If so apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.

Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

Image disappears after effect in HTML5

I am using Captivate 7.0.1.237.
I have set up my project as follows:
Slide 1:
1. I have an image that has an effect of Left to Right. When the project is launched, the effect is paused using an adv. action. Got a variable, say Var_1, in an adv. action to pause it: On enter, if the variable is 0, then pause.)
2. I have a button to generate a random number. This number is assigned as the new value of Var_1.
Slide 2:
Have an On Enter adv. action: If the value of Var_1 is "n", then pause.
Though I have not explicitly mentioned, the project moves to next slide if the Var_1 value is not "n".
Now, this is working fine in SWF output. However, in the HTML5 output, when the value is "n", the slide pauses but the image disappears after the animation effect.
Any idea why?

The current frame number when the action runs and when slide pauses as per the actions is same in both SWF asnd HTML5 outputs. Here are the screenshots. The yellow colored object is the one that has the effect. 181 is the frame number.

I noticed one interesting difference in starting frame of SWF and HTML5 outputs. When I launch the preview the SWF (using F12), the current frame number is 0, whereas the first frame in HTML5 preview (using F11) is 1. I am not sure if that has got anything to do with the issue I am facing.

The Update --
I have all my Mail in One of my accounts (work)....but not all the Mail in the other account (aka my Music account).....
Both I've set up again..using your advice...and changed both now to IMAP..
Originally after refreshing my laptop, when I set up Thunderbird....I used the POP settings.....and that's when I messed it up.....
but using IMAP now....I've gotten more of my old emails .....in my INBOX.....not all.....but most....YIPPIE
My SENT emails....in my Music account.....have all disappeared.......I've looked in both sent folders...in POP...and IMAP....and nothing is there...
However my sent folder of my work account...I have SOME of the sent emails...
Address books....Collected and Personal folders.....I have NO Email Addresses at all.
Sooo now even though I am getting confident we will solve it.....I still have 4 accounts....aka...2 Work (POP and IMAP).....2 Music (POP and IMAP) until you tell me to delete or change one from each.....
BOTH IMAP accounts.....do not show new messages...when they come in....however the POP shows it.....I did read that If I deleted the POP to change to IMAP I will not be able to get emails.....sooo not sure what to do about that issue now....
Is there an "automatic" backup feature for Thunderbird...?? All this could have been soo prevented if I did that....sheesh...

Airplay icon disappears after I click 'Play'

My Airplay icon disappears from my iTunes window whenever I click play. I usually stream music from iTunes on my Mac Book Air to an Airport Express connected to my stereo. It's been about a week since I last played music to the stereo, and I can't get it to work.
Symptoms:
- When I click 'play' in iTunes main window, the Airplay icon disappears.
- 'Remote' will not play to the Express. The icon also disappears from view after clicking play.
- If I switch to the mini-player after launching iTunes, I can play to the Express. Returning to main window and clicking play causes icon to disappear. Quitting ater selecting Airplay from mini player and relaunching iTunes has no effect; the icon disappears from main view once I click play.
Things I've tried:
- Soft restart on base station and express
- Pulled the plug from base station and express, waited a few minutes, then powered up
- turned 'Enable Airplay' off (update), then on again (second update) on the express
- Restarted my Mac
- Turned on/off home sharing in iTunes
- Cursed and listened to local radio stations
Software/Hardware:
Mac OSX 10.9.2
iTunes 11.1.5 (5) 64bit
Airport Utility 6.3.2
Mid-2011 MacBook Air 11", i7
Airport Extreme (2007/8?)
Airport Express (bought 12/13)

Hi Griff, thanks for the links.
I started my day this morning by shutting down my MBA for a few minutes. This seems to have fixed the problem. Because the previous restarts didn't have an effect, I'm wondering if the cause may have been related to a hardware cache (?) of some sort. I've been using screen shares (Skype, WebEx, GoToMeeting) alot recently, which may have something ot do with this. I read elsewhere that the disappearing icon is frequently related to a network problem.
In anycase, I can listen to *my* music tongiht.

LR5 Develop Presets disappear after a few minutes in Win 8

I'm finding that my presets are disappearing a few minutes after launching the program. I checked and have installed my presets in the proper folder where it would look for them. I see them when I grab the handle on the left and everything drags up or down. But I begin to two finger drag up and down, the handle on the left stays put and the presets drag up out of sight and a large, blank gap appears below. I've also had it where the presets have disappeared and have had to relaunch LR5 to get them back.
Does any of this sound familiar to anybody?

This is what I see when scroll down. On the right is the end of my Presets list, the left shows what happens when I go past. You'll notice the handle is in the same location on the left.
