Organizer in premiere elements 12

Whenever i try to access organizer in premiere elements 12, the programme just closes down. I tried reinstalling but it does not help at all. I am now at my wits end.?

Thanks for the update. Sorry that the news was not better.
Did you confirm that you were working with Premiere Elements 12/12.1 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit? I have been assuming that so that you find the correct paths to file to be deleted.
When you went looking for the psa.prf (Elements Organizer settings file) to delete, did you have your computer set with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you could see the complete path cited?
When you did the Premiere Elements 12 uninstall, did your use the scenario
a. Uninstall the program the usual Control Panel way
b. Do a free ccleaner run through to get rid of leftovers from incomplete uninstalls reinstalls
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
c. Reinstall the program with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
After the reinstall, if you get hung up with the Sign In, please check out possible solutions in the following...

I am trying to access Organizer in Premiere Elements and it just shuts down the programme.  I tried reinstalling the programme but it just does not let me get to Organizer.  Now after reinstalling, it does not let me into the programme.  It just keeps on asking me to sign in.  Once I sign in, it just goes blank.  I checked my registration online and it is already there.  What do I do apart from tearing my hair?

  • Cannot load media from organizer into premiere elements 9.0

I have spent the majority of the day trying to load media into a new project in premiere elements to edit the video. When I select the video and click edit in premiere elements, premiere opens but no media is available. It never loads the videos. I can review the videos including sound in elements organizer. I have a Canon Vixia HFS10, the file types were loaded directly to the harddrive of the computer as .mts. I have changed the presets for the type and that doesnt seem to help. I have updated premiere 9.0, disabled security, updated windows (vista).
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,

Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 on Windows Vista (32 or 64 bit?)
Let us try the following before we get into an extensive exchange of problem details.
Your Elements Organizer 9 .mts video that you are trying to import as media into a Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project is only a thumbnail that traces back to the source video which exists saved to a computer hard drive location.
What happens if you open a new project (with project preset set to match the properties of this particular video) and import this .mts video from the hard drive save location into the new project with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1's Get Media/Files and Folders? Does the video import into the project?
As an aside, do you have any other versions of Premiere Elements installed on your computer besides Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1? Also, is this a "it worked before, but now" or "it never worked before" problem?
We will be watching for your follow up results.
    Thank you.

  • Using organizer in Premiere Elements

When I try to create a DVD of my slideshow while in PE8, I get a message that I need to download Premiere Elements. I have Premiere elements on my computer already. If I try to open the organizer while in Premier Elements, nothing happens. It seems as if the two programs do not recognize one another. Help!

In version 8, you must have Premiere Elements open to a blank project in order for this feature to work.

  • Moving a group of files from Organizer into Premiere Elements 10

I've just spent two hours trying (unsuccessfully) to figure out how to use tags in Organizer to select a subset of files in an album and then send those files into Premiere Elements 10.  I don't want them in the timeline, I just want to import only those files with specific tags in Organizer into a new project in Premiere Elements as media to use to create a project in Elements.  I'm willing to save copies of these files into a new folder on my hard drive if that's what it takes, but I can't figure out how to do that either.  Help??

    In Windows do this:
Have PRE open in your blank project with the Media pane displayed.
    Select your clips in Organizer.
Drag the clips over the PRE icon in the taskbar. Do NOT release the mouse button.
After a second or so PRE will display.
Still holding the mouse button move the mouse drag icon over the media panel.
Now release the mouse button and your clips will be in the project media and your timeline will be empty.
    Cheers,
    Neale

  • How do I go from organizer to Premiere Elements editor?

Sorry to bother the forum with this.  I finished adding keyword labels to video clips in the organizer and now want to take those clips to Premiere Elements 9 for editing. How does someone do that?   I looked at the help information, and perhaps Adobe thinks it's obvious, but it's not.  Also, once in Premiere Elements, why do the video clips not show up in project view? Thanks for your help. Richard

Steve, I appreciate your taking the time to respond.  I've experimented more and can ask the question
more precisely:  I can import files directly in the Premiere Elements 9 and work with them (including being able to see them in project view) but I am having trouble doing the same thing in organizer.
Once I've finished creating a catalog in organizer (added star ratings and keywords), I want to take certain files into Premiere but not have them added to the timeline or sceneline.  I want them to be in the "media" section and in the "projects view."
Do I need to create an album while still in organizer and, if so, how do I get the clips in that album to function the way I've just described?
Once again, I appreciate your helping me out.  Richard

  • How can I rebuild my Organizer catalog in Premiere Elements?

The Organizer keeps a catalog of all the media files on your system. In most cases, it will update automatically.
You can also manually update its files by locating the files with broken links (They'll be displaying a "refresh" symbol, red and green arrows in a circle). To update or remove these links, open the full-feature Organizer in Premiere Elements by clicking on the Tagging button under the Organize tab. Then locate the broken link icons, right-click on each and choose the option to update (You'll then be prompted to browse to the file's location) or delete the thumbnail.
As a last resort, you can simply remove the current catalog, forcing Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements to rebuild it.
To do this, go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs\ (In Vista go to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs\)and change the name of the folder "My Catalog" to "Old catalog". When you relaunch the program(s), they will recreate the catalog based on the media it locates on your drive(s).

Are you manually copying the .lrcat file from one place to another or are you relying on LR’s backup function to do this?  I would do it manually just to be sure what you’re doing and check the timestamp and size of the copied file and make sure it is the same as the catalog you just copied from.
Also, how are you copying the file from your house to your friend’s house?  Are your computers networked together, somehow, or are you using a thumbdrive/flashdrive, or is the catalog stored on an external USB drive that you copy across?
How are you opening the catalog at your friend’s house, by double-clicking on it, or are you just starting LR and expecting it to remember what catalog to open?
Are these catalogs on the same drive letter at your friends house, either C: or another drive that you’ve configured to be the same drive letter?
To perfect your process, I’d use a catalog with just one photo in it that you adjust each time in some way that is obvious, and see if you can get that to work and once you are confident with that small catalog, do the large one.
A final point of clarification, by LR catalog you are referring to a single large file name yourcatalogname.lrcat, right, and that file is not located in a Backups folder?  You can check the locaton of your catalog file by using LR / Preferences / Catalog Settings / General tab and the first line in the Information section shows the folder where your catalog resides.

  • Premiere Elements 11 - Organizer - Missing thumbnails

I have downloade some video files from my Canon HF S100 using Organizer.  The file format is .MTS.  The data files were downloaded into a named folder rather than the default suggested by Organizer.  I used a new Catalogue and loaded the entries into two Albums under the top level (i.e., I did not create an Album Category).  Initially few of the files had a thumbnail.  I tried Optimizing the Catalogue and that produced a few more.  I then highlighted the group still without a thumbnail and tried Update Thumbnail.  This produced a few more.  However ther are still 6 files for which I cannot get a thumbnail to appear despite repeated running of Optimize and Update Thumbnail.  Is there anything else that I can try?

Steve - thanks for the suggestions.
I'm using Windows 7.  I've checked and do have the latest version of Quicktime.
In fact I haven't yest created the project for the video files that I've downloaded.  I simply selected Organizer (not Premiere Elements) from the welcome screen, created a new catalogue and some albums and downloaded into them.
I've subsequently found some other threads on this subject and gather that, for whatever reason, there are often files for which thumbnails are never proiduced.  I guess I'll have to live with it - although it's somewhat irritating!

  • Premiere Elements 9 Project Media View List & Icon Icons Gone

Today at another forum that I frequent, a Premiere Elements 9 user was distressed because he could not find the List (Ctrl + Page Up) & Icon (Ctrl _ Page Down) icons that were found in the prior version of the Project Media View. The Icon view was particularly useful for sorting media before dragging to the Timeline or for the Create Slideshow feature. Now in Premiere Elements 9, all you have are your media in a list format with no option to sort.
This person simultaneously posted his question at another forum for which he received a reply and a workaround  which included going into the Elements Organizer/Create/SlideShow Editor and create a slideshow that could be outputted (Edit in Premiere Elements) back into Premiere Elements 9. I would take issue with that suggested approach since I believe that there is an easier and quicker workaround to overcome the inconvenient loss of those features in Premiere Elements 9 Project Media View.
First, the questions and then my workaround for this situation
Does anyone know if Adobe is aware of this situation and intends to correct this oversight or intentional change in features?
Has anyone come up with his/her favorite workaround for this matter?
Bottom Line for my workaround: From Premiere Elements 9 workspace, go to Elements Organizer workspace and create a sorted album of the media brought into Premiere Elements 9 Get Media/Files & Folders. Then exist Elements Organizer, opening to Premiere Elements workspace where one uses Filter by: Select Album and does just that.
I will post a step by step on my suggested workaround if requested.

I was trying to be discreet and have us still remain friends, so I did not mention the responder at the other forum by name or place. You let the cat out of the bag. OK, no offense taken please, but I thought that your workaround "Elements Organizer/Create/Slideshow/Edit With Premiere Elements" was "not so good" a choice. I will owe up to that.
None of the workarounds are as good as the Adobe Icon View of prior version, but....
Workaround 1. If your interest is getting sorted photos for using the Create Slideshow Feature in Project Media View. The secret is to put the photos in a Folder and then move the photos around in the Folder. I can go into the choreography on that if need be. Then highlight all the photos in the Folder, select Create Slideshow. Even if you do not go the Create Slideshow route, this is one way to get sorted photos for the Timeline.
Workaround 2. If the Create Slideshow feature is not involved. Going the create Album route in Elements Organizer.
Premiere Elements 9 Get Media/Files and Folders
    Add Media Dialog
    Select photos, Click Open
Select Organizer in the row above the line of Organize/Edit/Disc Menus/Share to open the Elements Organizer.
In the Elements Organizer, go to the Albums category and expand that category, then click on the green cross, and select New Album. On that right side of the Elements Organizer you will see a window with two tabs, Content and Sharing. Select Content and drag your media from the major window on the left to the Content window on the right. Name the album and click Done.
You will then see your Album name listed in the Album’s category. Click the green icon to the left of the Album name. When you do, you will see thumbnails for your photos numbered sequentially in the major window on the left side of the Elements Organizer. Sort the photos there as you want them arranged on the Timeline. Then exit Elements Organizer via File Menu/Exit.
The Premiere Elements Organize workspace will open. Go to the Filter by: Select Album and do just that, selecting the sorted album that you just created. Highlight the photos  and drag them to the Timeline.
That is what I have come up with so far. I have been doing a lot of retesting of the principle to make sure that it would work more than just the first time.
What do you think? Contribution or first class dud??
    ATR
Just another possible variation on the thought with regard to Create Slideshow....it might merit thinking about numerically or alphabetically ordering your photos in a Folder beforehand and then bringing the Folder into Premiere Elements so that you have the Folder in Project Media View...Select All...Right Click Highlight....Create Slideshow?????

  • Premiere Elements 11 "installing Shared Technologies" error during install

How do I fix the "The installation process has encountered an error whil installing Shared Technologies.  Please restart your system and try again." error while installing Premiere Elements 11?  Photoshop Elements 11 installed fine, but I keep receiving this error while trying to install Premier Elements 11.
    I have already tried:
    Install from CD
    Install from C: drive root
Install from Adobe website trial version
Install from CD, after clean boot
In each case it installs at the same place with the same error.
From searching these forums and doing a web search it seems like a common problem with no clear solution.

    FFWLKin
I do not know if what I am about to report will help or confuse the Premiere Elements users further on this Shared Technology error encountered during Premiere Elements installation, but here is hoping that something in the following experience might be of help to someone....
I entered your thread with the Shared Technology error (targeting Elements Organizer/Data 7) when trying to install Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 on a new Windows 8 64 bit computer. Unlike the others I had no problems installing Premiere Elements 11 and Photoshop Elements 11 from the Adobe installation disc a week earlier on this brand new Windows 8 64 bit computer. Short of re-formatting the hard drive, I did everything plus with no luck in getting versions 10 installed on this Windows 8 64 bit computer. So, I decided to focus on working with the already installed version 11 programs.
I headed for Premiere Elements 11 to create a DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc and to my horror found that the program's burn dialog had no burner(s) in the burner location (either the build in one or an external burner (USB). But, Premiere Elements 11 burn to folder did work. On the other hand, I found that Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer File Menu feature to burn (datadisc) to CD or DVD did recognize these burners and that burn to feature worked. I went through the typical drill for those in this type of situation and nothing remedied the problem. So, I decided to go for the deactivate/uninstall/reinstall route. Well,  now Premiere Elements 11 reinstallation ran into the same fate as Premiere Elements 10, that is, it ran into the Shared Technologies error related to installation of the Elements Organizer and Premiere Elements 11 would not install after going through everything decribed in this thread, excluding re-formatting the hard drive.
    1. Deactivated/uninstalled Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11.
    2. Apply the cclearer: cleaner and registry cleaner. And, then went into the Registry and deleted all related to Photoshop Elements 10/Premiere Elements 10 as well as Photoshop Elements 11/Premiere Elements 11.
    3. Disabled firewall, antivirus, spyware...
    4. Tried to reinstall Premiere Elements 11, using the installation files (setup.exe in 64 bit folder) copied to hard drive. No go. Same Shared Technology error.
    5. Started deleting programs that I had installed after the initial successful installs of Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 (these programs included iTunes, VLC player, and ImgBurn). Still no go for the Premiee Elements 11 install, and same Shared Technologies error.
FINALLY, Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 got successfully installed on this Windows 8 64 bit computer according to the following scenario (iTunes, VLC player, and ImgBurn still removed from system...firewall, antivirus, spyware protection re-enabled)
    1. Attached a USB burner to computer via one of its USB 3.0 ports.
    2. Inserted the Adobe installation disc into the burner tray of this burner in order to install the program(s) via the installation disc.
    3. Selected install for Photoshop Elements 11. It went to completion without problem.
    4. Selected install for Premiere Elements 11. It went to completion without problem. And, now the burn dialog/burner location did recognize the computer's built in burner and my USB external burner.
None of the above may have had anything to do with what finally triggerd the version 11 installation processes to go to completion. But, I add this to the mix of how Photoshop Elements 11/Premiere Elements 11 finally got installed in Windows 8 for the user.
And, I would offer this suggestion to those who have already installed Premiere Elements 11 on their Windows 8 64 bit. As soon as possible make sure you have burners listed in the burner location of the program's burn dialog.

  • Stills rotated in premiere elements 10

Hello everyone. Can anyone help me with a problem I'm having with Photoshop Elements 10 /Premiere Elements 10? I'm making a slideshow consisting of video and stills. Upon moving the project from photo elements to prem elements some but not all of my stills have been rotated right 90 degrees. What's going on and how do I fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Mr. Hackonabike
Although your Premiere Elements 10 is running on Windows 7 64 bit as a 64 bit application, your results are pointing to you stressing out the system with grossly oversized stills (and 290 of them). As appropriate, resize or crop resize to 1920 x 1080 16:9. Use of those high resolution photos typically do not get you better end product quality and only serve to stress out the program as it attempts to reduce them to the sizing of the format.
    This is my suggestion....
If your stills are 16:9, then resize them to 1920 x 1080 and use them in the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor if you prefer to build the slideshow there.
If your stills are 3:2 or 4:3, then crop resize them to 1920 x 1080 maintaining the 16:9 and then use them in the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor.
When you do go to output the slideshow from the Elements Organizer 10 Slideshow Editor, use the Output command Edit With Premiere Elements Editor.
But before you hit the output choice, open Premiere Elements 10 and make sure that you set the project preset in the new project dialog as
    PAL
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p25
Then output the slideshow from the Elements Organizer 10 Slideshow Editor to the opened Premiere Elements 10 with the project preset you just set.
If you decide that you want to do some more significant edits of the slideshow in Premiere Elements, right click the .psess video version of the intact slideshow that was placed automatically on your Timeline in the transfer from Elements Organizer to Premiere Elements, and select Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow.
Add disc menus if you want. Do not bother with stop markers if your destination is a burn to Blu-ray disc. Stop markers do not function in the playback of the Blu-ray disc.
Then Share/Disc/Blu-ray and select your appropriate preset.
How much installed and available RAM does your computer have and how much free hard drive space does you computer have. You want to make sure
that the Premiere Elements scratch disks are directed to a hard drive save location with enough space to accept them. See Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks.
Some can get away with letting the program do the resizing, some cannot. Level of computer resources is a major factor.
Please review and consider. Any questions, please ask.
    Thanks.
    ATR
Add On...In future project, you might want to consider building the slideshow in Premiere Elements, followed by the burn to there.
