Organizer window top and bottom inaccessible
I use Adobe Elements 12 Organizer on Macbook Pro. When I open Organizer, the window is too large, and the top and bottom are hidden behind the Mac menus so they are not accessible. I can´t reach the top menu, and can´t resize the window, or move it around on the screen.

I thought I was responding to an Elements Organizer 12 question in the Premiere Elements Forum. Nonetheless, I will leave my response as is here until Photoshop Elements Mac users enter your thread to help you.

When I use Garageband the window is so large that I can't reach the bottom corner to decrease the window to fit inside the display so that I can see the top and bottom of the window at the same time.
Any suggestions? You can reduce the window by grabbing any edge or corner. You don't have to use the bottom right anymore.
You could also temporarily move the dock to the left/right so you can reach the bottom. -
I was using Firefox for a few years with great enjoyment. Recently I opened it and within a second or so, it enlarged to the point that the top and bottom of the screen expanded off the screen. No other windows in any other program are doing this. The only way to close it is by using the task manager. Very frustrated. What other info do you need?
Hi ConnieHampton,
FIrefox will remember the last window size you had, which is why it keeps opening too large each time you open and close it. To fix this, try resetting Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/changes-toolbars-and-window-sizes-are-not-saved?esab=a&s=resize+window&r=7&as=s
If you don't see your menu bar, you may be in full screen mode, and can turn it off by following these instructions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-make-firefox-and-websites-go-full-screen?esab=a&s=full+screen&r=0&as=s
If this doesn't work, please let us know and we'll figure out another way to fix it. -
How can you make your persona show on the top and bottom?
Also can you make it bigger at the top to show more of the picture?Add extra empty toolbars if you want to see more of the persona.<br />
You can create extra toolbars to get extra space via View > Toolbars > Customize<br />
You have to put something on a toolbar (drag a Space item onto it) before closing the Customize window because empty toolbars are automatically removed.<br />

IMovie is outputting my movie with big black bars at top and bottom that I don't want
Quicktime: Ver 10.3
iMovie: Ver 10.0.5
OS: OS X Ver 10.9.4
So, let me try and explain...
I have recorded gameplay footage of my game directly from my Mac screen using Quicktime's Record Screen option. I've tried recording both in fullscreen mode (with my game also running in fullscreen mode) and a section of the screen by dragging the mouse to select a 640X960 box (with my game running in windowed mode which is displayed at 640x960 resolution).
This initial recording direct from the screen displays fine, both when I view it in windowed mode and when I view it fullscreen, with the height of the game stretching to the full height of the video area but obviously with big black borders to either side in fullscreen mode (as it's basically iPhone ratio in portrait mode).
WindowedFullscreen
This ^^^ is how they should look.
The problem is when I try to import the movie into iMovie, mess around with some fade-ins and music and stuff and then output the edited movie via iMovie...
When I then try to view this outputted movie in windowed mode on certain sites (Kickstarter) my game footage doesn't take up the full height of the video and instead floats in the middle with big black bars at the top and bottom, which I don't want. It's fine when I go fullscreen but the problem is that when I load this video into Kickstarter it shows the non-fullscreen view of the video with this big black border and it looks really amateur.
This is what Kickstarter shows in windowed mode i.e. the way you see Kickstarter videos by default when you press Play; unless I go fullscreen and then it takes up the full heigh of the view.
Note: Windowed mode actually looks fine when viewed directly on my Mac but I know it's not Kickstarter that is causing the issue because I can see in the thumbnail preview on my Mac that the video is somehow encoded with the big black bars at the top and bottom. Also, I uploaded the unedited videos to Kickstarter just to check and they display fine. So it's definitely iMovie that is adding these annoying black borders at the top and bottom for whatever reason (and I'm not intentionally scaling the video down in iMove or anything like that as far as I know). I also can't use the unedited footage however because it has no sound and no transitions etc.
Does anyone know what night be causing this and how to get rid of it.You are lucky to see anything - iMovie 5 is not really compatible with Snow Leopard, which only supports iMovie 6 and above.
Snow Leopard only runs on Intel Macs. iMovie 5 was never written, AFAIK, for Intel, just for the PPC Macs they had in those old days! -
When I create my Ebay invoices, (which are generated through the browser in a new window) data is also generated at the top and bottom that I don't want to show on the invoice. The data is the date and time at the bottom, together with the page number, and at the top it shows the web location. In Explorer, you can remove this before printing but I can't work out how to do it in Firefox. Help please!
Hello!
You can change that in Page Setup, choose the "Margins & Header/Footer" tab and chose "--blank--" instead of the data that you don't want it to appear.
You can visit [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-print-websites#w_margins-and-header-footer How to print websites] for more details.
I hope that helps,

I am using Elements 8 [with a recently installed Mac IOS 10.9] and a new Epson Artisan 1430 printer . When I print 4" X 6" borderless photos, the top and bottom 1" are now cutoff in Portrait orientation and the right and left 1" are cutoff in Landscape orientation. I do not have the same problem printing from iPhoto. Epson tech support says this is not an Epson problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe I should just install Elements 12 and see if this might solve the problem. Any ideas?
When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above. Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

Need to get rid of lines top and bottom
The video material I'm cutting has a very annoying, eye-catching top and bottom edge. The topmost and lowest lines kind of wobble or jitter. I need to get rid of this.
Do I 'zoom in' / expand the picture, or is there a crop tool I haven't come across?
Any help much appreciated.Right-click(Control+click) the clip with the settings and chose copy.
Select all of your clips that you want to apply the same settings to and right- click and chose paste attributes. A window will open and check the motion box and then click apply(Ok?)
Now all of the selected clips will have the motion setting that you copied. This is also a good way for copying video and audio filters and any other settings in the motion tab. -
Since I unloaded OS7 and started using I cloud, the photos taken are smaller. The picture doesn't take up the whole viewer of the I phone. Therfe is a line, top and bottom. Any suggestions?
Hi shldr2thewheel,
it has been a while since we have last spoke, I would like to let you know, I am still working on getting used to the switch from windows to a Mac/Apple system. I do have a new question for you, I did purchase In Design CS5.5 through journeyed.com through Cuyahoga Community College of which I attend as a student, is there a way to purchase an online book through iTunes to learn that as well? Also, you know me, the struggling student, I would also, when and if the book can be purchased through the iTunes, would need to know if you do know of a much easier book for struggling students like myself and at a reasonable price as well for the In Design CS5.5 program. Our campus bookstore had closed early, and, so did the colleges library and our local library here where I do live, so, I cannot go to either place to purchase a book or to take out a book, plus cash funds are low at this moment as well but, I do have money left on the iTunes account to use, if it can be used. So, can it be used, the iTunes money, towards finding a low priced online book? I am in great need of assistance as I have a project due for my one course for this Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Sincerely in need of help once again,
Kim -
Music Video Top And Bottom Black?
Straight to the point.
Examples:
Top and bottom barrier - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpSqWgkWCcA
Normal Widescreen - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnEZmk7as9Y
Which, why?
I've recorded a music video on my canon 600D using the 35mm prime lens all great quality in 1080p 25fps 1920 x 1080, have i recorded in the wrong size or do people put a plain black banner at the top and bottom of music videos, if so why?
Also after exporting using AME youtube 25fps 1080p preset the video comes out quiet a bit darker than the original footage? should i be using 16bpc(same as sources), linerising workspace and using the workspace HDTV (rec.709) or am i heading into the wrong settings here?

2TB, Intel i7 3770k, 16ram, windowsWell, Jack, sorry to say this, but you've still got a problem.
"mov" only indicates that you're working with quicktime movies. But in order to get closer to solving the dark video problems, people need to know the CODEC of the quicktime movie files... which we still don't know.
Highlight a clip in the AE project window, and look at the info at the top. You ought to find the codec listed there.
In the meantime, you might find this helpful:
QuickTime and gamma in non-color-managed projects
Normally, you don't have to fool with color spaces with quicktime in AE. -
Hello... im learning flash and i'd like to know how can i
make upper and lower bar for a website, considering that it's texts
stick to corners when u resize window or change resolution, like
these
samsungexperience.com.br
compactstudios.com
For example, in the first site, the buttons stick to lower
left corner, while the copyright info sticks to the right one and,
when u resize or change resolution, only the space between then
changes.
Thanks in advanceHI
With respect to the Samsung site, the entire site is in a swf
including the top and bottom bars.
Take a look at the HTML Source in your browser, you'll see
they've created a DIV with releative positioning based on the size
of the browser window. There is also a resize function to update
the relative position of the DIV with respect to the window size.
All very simple really.
Hope it helps -
How to crop a QuickTime movie to delete black top and bottom areas?
How to crop a QuickTime movie? I mean, a ".mov" movie that shows a black area on top and bottom, which I want to delete.
I have tried with iMovie 8.0.5, yet its "Window - Cropping..." to fit, crop and Ken burns does not allow to select the area that I want, which is extra wide.
Thanks. How to crop a QuickTime movie? I mean, a ".mov" movie that shows a black area on top and bottom, which I want to delete.
Basically, you have two options. 1) You can use an application like MPEG Streamclip (free) which allows you to reset the top/bottom/left/right screen edges (i.e., crop the active viewing area) and then re-compress the remaining content as a new file (as recommended by QTKirk) or 2) if you have QT Pro, you can simply "mask" the player display which crops the display screen to the desired mask dimension and location within the original area. The advantage of the latter work flow is not having to re-compress the file which can be very time consuming. Since the latter method may seem confusing to some, I have prepared a "quickie" tutorial which may be able to "talk" you through the process:

Hi all,
I'm putting together a demo DVD for a band and I want to put a narrow banner at the top and bottom of the screen showing the contact info for the band. The banners are both .png files. When I import them into the viewer, they appear in the middle and if I choose wire frame I can move the frame around but the image does not move. What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks
Steve PogsonIs the image selected (highlighted) in the Timeline when you try to move it with the wireframe? If not, it needs to be.
Another method for changing the positioning of a clip is to use the Center control in the Basic Motion section of the Viewer window.

Fixed/Locked Top and Bottom Banner
I am wondering if there is a way to keep my top and bottom
banners in the same place with a window in the middle that would
scroll. (Basically making sure that the top and bottom are in the
same position for every page, but the middle section being able to
scroll when there is more content.) I would really appreciate any
insight... Thanks! The only reliable way would be to use frames.
BUT - you will pay a heavy price for this choice. The
decision to use or
not use frames should be based on a) your site's needs, and
b) your
willingness to accept the potential problems that frames can
create for you
as developer and maintainer of the site and for your visitors
as casual
users of the site.
I am down on frames because I believe that they create many
more problems
than they solve.
Judging from the posts here, and the kinds of problems that
are described,
the kind of person most likely to elect to use frames is also
the kind of
person most likely ill-prepared fo solve the ensuing problems
when they
arise. If you feel a) that you understand the problems and b)
that you are
prepared to handle them when they occur, and c) that you have
a need to use
frames, then by all means use them.
As far as I know, the most comprehensive discussions of
frames and their
potential problems can be found on these two links -
