Organizing artists on ipod

I have a question that I couldn't find on the services.
How can I organize the artists in my ipod so that it won't display it like this.
Artist
Artist feat. Artist
Artist feat. Artist and Artist
Its driving me crazy.
Thanks

How do you want it to be? Do you want them all to be under the same artist?
If so, change the artist information in iTunes so that they all have the same artist. I'd recommend adding the "featuring" information to the song name. This assumes your iPod is on automatic mode. If it's on manual, change the information on the songs on your computer, delete off your iPod, and re-copy to your iPod.

    Thank you for your help

when you click on artists, and then select the artist you want, it can ither go straight through all of the chosen artist's albums and songs in cd order, or you can put it on shuffle mode so it can put songs in a random order.

  • Problem with iPhone artist in iPod

On my iPhone, when I go to one of artists in iPod, the whole app quits. Does any of you have any idea why is that? I’ve tried restarting iPhone, I am using iTunes Match. Thanks

I find it unusual that you would consider changing companies after a single problem. Maybe that is your best choice, however if you want to try and troubleshoot the problem, you can look at this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559

hoooo my god ahahah I'm sooooo dumb.
That was it. The little triangle. That's so obvious, that it's never told in this forum that it can be the solution. I didn't know how to see all the music I had in my Ipod, thanks so much. I'm so stupid.
It will be so simple to manage the music, now
    thank you!

  • Organizing Videos in iPod

Hey, i just got an iPod Video 30gb.
Well, I started organizing some concerts videos that I got in iTunes. I've set up everything, since artists to Track Number. But when I'm going to play those videos on iPod, they are listed by name, not by track number.
How can I set iPod to list and play my videos in the track order i've set in Itunes?

Btw, shuffling is disabled in the iPod.

  • More on Organizing Music on iPod Classic

    Hi,
My iPod is not organizing music in a predictable manner, and I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this issue. I spent hours organizing the iTunes library so that every CD I've imported lists the music according to the parameters: Name (song name, done automatically by iTunes), (ii) Artist (I enter the name of the album artist in this field, such as "Norah Jones"), (iii) Album by Year (I enter the name or title of the CD [e.g. "The Essential Billy Joel"]), (iv) Genre (I created my own genres and placed all of the music into the corresponding genre of my choosing).
Ok, here's what's happening. So far I've imported about 100 CDs with perhaps 35/45 different artists. Since I put the artist's name in the artist field for every CD, one would think that when I click on "Artists" on the iPod (after syncing, of course) I'd have 35/45 different artists to choose from. However, when I click on "Artists" on the iPod I find many missing artists (actually, the greater percentage are missing). For example, I have just about everything by guitarist David Russell (I have 14 CDs in all by him), yet his name doesn't appear in the list of artists unless I click on "Artists" then "All Albums", in which case I have to scroll through my entire collection of albums in alphabetical order by CD title until I find the CD I'm looking for!
An odd thing also happens when I click on "Genres". Let's say that I click on "Genres", and then "Classical Guitar". This takes me to a screen at the top of which is the choice "All Albums", followed by a list of 6 artist's names. Now, I have many more than 6 artists in the classical guitar section, yet only 6 names appear.
There doesn't seem to by any reason for some artists to appear yet others (the majority) not to appear, as I'm organizing every CD in exactly the same way. When I import a CD, I select all songs, right click, select "Get Info", and when the "Multiple Item Information" screen appears, I enter all the information according to parameters already mentioned.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    ~Sean

Usually the biggest culprit of this is if the "Part of a Compilation" box is checked. In iTunes pick a song by David Russell and get info. Check to see if this box is clicked. If it is, that's why it won't show up in the "Artist" menu.

  • Help! I cannot find some artists on ipod that exist on itunes

I have recently synched my ipod to itunes. I see that they both have the same number of songs now. But I found that when looking under "artists" on the ipod, not all of them are there. For example, in iTunes, I see "Etta James" under artists yet if I look under artists on the iPod, she isn't there. If I search for her by album name, she is there on the iPod. So it seems that the data is there but organized improperly. How do I fix this? I have the latest updates for iTunes and iPod.
    Dell Dimension 800   Windows XP

I had the same problem... the bug seems to appear when there is 1 song with an album name and a couple without an album name listed (and obviously all the songs have the artist's name entered)
Simply entering an album name to one of the songs without one makes the All> submenu appear under Artistname> now.
For example, I renamed a albumless song to "Unknown" and I now got under Artistname>:
    All>
    Album1
    Unknown
All the songs without an album name are now accessible under All>
Ideally all songs would have an album name...

  • Artist on ipod touch showing up as unknown but not on itunes

I have an ipod touch 4G which is updated with iOS 5.0.1. I am trying to organize some of my music by artist names and album titles. But for some reason after i went into itunes and put in the names of some artists for their songs, the artists won't show up with their songs on my ipod. For example, there is a song on my ipod called So Forgetful by Lloyd Banks. But on my ipod the only thing that shows up is the song title.under where the album name and artist name are,it reads unknown. So I went into itunes to correct this.I edited the album to Hunger For More 2 and the artist to Lloyd Banks. But when I finished that, I went back into the ipod and the album title and artist still read unknown.this has happened for a couple of my songs. Also I haven't used itunes for some of these songs.

I have the same problem with everything updated. This frustrates me how this can not be resolved. iTunes has so many problems with song syncing. You would think it would be resolved with the great minds at Apple but it has not. Maybe iTunes needs to be remade from the ground up again.

  • Problem with iTunes regarding artists on iPod.

    Hello,
I have iTunes 7.3.2 and I need help on an issue that has been nagging me for a while now. In my iTunes library, I have three songs from a band called "Angels and Airwaves". All three songs are from the same album. However, the songs are displayed on my iPod as two different artists, two "Angles and Airwaves". Two songs are in one artist while the third is in the other. Does anyone know how to get all three songs into the same name and have just one "Angels and Airwaves"??
    Thanks guys,

Just right-click on the song you want to change and choose Get Info. Click the info tab, and change the artist to be what you'd like.
You can also do this for multiple things at once (which in your case would be easier). Click on the first song you want to change, hold in the shift key on your keyboard, and then click on the last one you'd like to change. Now, right-click on the highlighted section and choose Get Info, and you can change everything at once.

  • Songs listed under incorrect artist in Ipod (listed correctly in Itunes)

So I'm having an issue getting songs to appear under the correct artist.
The artist's name is 3lau.  several of his songs are listed with him as the artist.  Other list him as the Album artist.  It is all grouped correctly on Itunes.
When i sync my ipod (nano 6th gen) I cannot find the artist "3lau"  I find all his songs under "Porter Robinson."  Porter robinson is never listed as an artist.
I've looked through the itunes listing of artists and excluding those artists that i do not have checked music, the list doesn't match what the ipod shows.  Why?  Is there a way to force them to match?
I'd email Apple support, but like most conceited worldwide companies you can't actually contact them for help.  So i'm asking the nice people on the community site that do apple's work for free.
    Thank you all.

    Hi TheHairyBaboon!
I've got some information for you that may help you with this issue. You should check the "Group Compilations" setting on your iPod nano to see whether that option is on or off. More information on this setting can be found on page 16 of the iPod nano 6th generation User Guide:
    manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1551/en_US/iPod_nano_6thgen_User_Guide.pd f
You can also find more information on compilation groupings and how to get them to behave the way you expect here:
Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together?

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • How Can I Sort Playlists By Artist Name IPOD

    Hello to all,
When I select a playlist on my Ipod Color, it will take me to the list of songs in song title alphabetical order. I want to have them appear in artist alphabetical order instead, how can I do this?
    Richy

    Hi.
Forget it, asked same question before, and it seems that you can do nothing about it than send feedback to Apple and hope it gets done in a future update-release.
It should be so easy, such a function, but it is definitely not available currently. A real pain.....
    Best regards,

  • Organizing music on iPod mini

My iTunes library is larger than my mini will hold, so iTunes created a "selection" for it, which I have been able to edit. However, I can't figure out how to move playlists to the mini - it seems as though the "selection" overrides playlists.
Also, suddenly "Spoken Word" content is showing under Audiobooks on the mini, although it is showing as "Spoken Word" in my library. This seems to have happened after the last software update to 6.0.2. Any fixes?

It isn't really possible. If you put the year of release into the Sort Album field you can make things work for one artist, but as soon as you have two or more artists then that won't work. Adding both the album artist and then the year of release in the Sort Album might get the albums in the right order in say the iPod's cover flow, but then you'd find the main Albums list a complete jumble in both the iPod and iTunes.

  • Organizing music in ipod

When i figured out how to finally import music into my ipod it did not organize it into artists, albums, and songs, it just has a list of the songs i imported under each category.
For example, i imported all the songs from the beatles album "Help!" into my library, when i added them to my ipod i expected to find the songs under artist:The Beatles, album:Help!, but instead it just had all the songs under the artist and album menus, please tell me what i did wrong

You didn't do anything wrong, the library is used as the source for playlists. If you want to be able to access the Help album as an individual playlist, create a smart playlist with the parameters Album Is Help.
Have a look at the video tutorials, they are very comprehensive:

  • Organizing music on iPod Classic

Is there a way to organize music on an iPod classic?  More specifically, I want albums sorted by artist and then year so they will be in the order of when they were released.  I know how to do this in iTunes (just click the column header and choose the option I want), but even when I do that it will change back the next time I open iTunes.
    Any help is appreciated!

  • Multiple listings for one artist on iPod

What, if there is one, the easiest way to consolidate all of one artist's music into one group for that artist.I noticed that whenever I scroll through my artist list on my iPod it will show up to six names for one artist when that is the only artist on each album...I've tried listing the name in the sort album and sort artist but it still seems not to change anything.

    Create a playlist
Put all affected tracks into it
Select all tracks on that list
    Press Apple-I on your keyboard
Enter the correct name as "Artist"
    Press 'OK'
