Organizing Bookmarks Alphabetically in Safari.

Does any one know when they will add this feature to Safari?
PS: I hope this question isn't redundant!

First of all, welcome to the Apple discussions.
NO, this is not announced in the new OSX Tiger.
You can alphabetically your bookmarks in Safari manual or using Bookdog to do this for you Bookdog
Also you can drag the Bookmark folders to the desktop an open this folder in the Finder. Finder in List view. Drag the Bookmark folder back to the Bookmark menu bar in Safari.

Will Safari sort bookmarks Alphabetically?

Is there a way to sort my bookmarks alphabetically? It makes me a little crazy trying to find my bookmarks when they are just listed the way I added them.
I know I can go in a do it manually if I "show all bookmarks", but that seems kind of archaic not mention really slow.
Anyone able to help me out? Many thanks for advice...

You have got to be kidding?? Wow. What a design flaw, how can Apple think that we wouldn't want that option? Hummmm...let's see I guess I can do it myself from the "all bookmarks" view. Geez...I hate to move everything to Firefox and import it back. To me that's a real pain.
It's funny but people told me that Safari has lots of problems but from the moment I opened it I totally fell in love with Safari!! Now that I'm hooked I find something simple like arranging bookmarks can't be done. I guess I have some decisions to make. Either go back to Firefox (it does have some nice qualities using my iMAC) or just grin and bear it with Safari.

Can you organize Bookmarks in Folders?

Yes.
Open a Safari window, click on the bookmarks view (the book icon top left) go to the bookmarks menu in the top menu bar and select new bookmark folder then name it. Drag the relevant bookmarks to that folder.
You can also make sub folders by clicking on the parent folder and following the same process.
You can organize your bookmarks alphabetically within a folder by dragging the folder to the desktop, letting it organize it's contents automatically the dragging it back to Safari and deleting the old unorganized folder.

Organizing BOOKMARKS? How to alphabetize them???

Ok, I have bookmarked several hundred sites for a research project, carefully naming and categorizing each bookmark into different folders. Now it would be enormously helpful to be able to ALPHABETIZE the bookmarks within each folder and I can't figure out how to do this!!!???
Being an ex-Windows user all you had to do was click "Bookmarks" at the top and it would organize, ascending or descending, the bookmarks alphabetically. So I tried this, but nothing happened...
How do I alphabetize my bookmarks within the bookmark folders on my Powerbook? There must be a way!!

I'm not sure what your question has to to with iPhoto 6 but there's a 3rd party application, SafariSorter, that will sort your bookmarks alphabetically. You can find it at VersionTracker.com. If you run a search there for "safari bookmark" you'll find a number of applications that may help you better manage your bookmarks.

Difficulties organizing bookmarks

Hi:
New to Safari. Have used Chrome and some other browsers. I am having a hard time organizing my bookmarks even with Safari's 'help' page. Help tells me to just drag items up or down to rearrange them. When I try to move a folder up or down the line, it just won't go where I need it to go! This is way more difficult than any other browser I have used before. Is there some simple, easy way to move bookmarks within a 'collection' or will I just have to live with this extremely difficult app.?
The bookmarks move quite easily from one collection/area to another but VERY DIFFICULT within a particular collection.

My solution is to use IE8 and/or Firefox, and to do all sorting there and then import into Safari. There may be a utility but I have never seen anything I'd use.

We have a new iPad Mini. I cannot save a new Bookmark. In Safari, I go to "Share" and select "Add a Bookmark" yet when I click on the Bookmarks icon, my saved Bookmark is not there. Am I doing something wrong?

We have a new iPad Mini, and I'm having inconsistent results using Bookmarks in the Safari icon.
For a long time, on the iPad, I could only see five items under the Bookmark icons and the Bookmarks Bar was empty.
Occasionally, in Safari, the iPad would pick up and display all of the Bookmarks from the Safari browser on my iMac.
Other times, there are only a bare few Bookmarks available on the iPad, the Bookmarks Bar goes away and I cannot save a new Bookmark. It looks like I can save one, but I cannot find it after allegedly saving.
Then, all of the Bookmarks will come back and I can save a new Bookmark again. We can't figure out why all of the Bookmarks will show and then they won't.
I want to think this involves iCloud some way, but for right now, I'm stumped. Perhaps we're just too inexperienced and haven't come around the learning curve yet.

No, I see the three areas at the bottom of the Bookmark area that you refer to, but that also highlights an issue. When I want to save a story to my Reading List and click on Share then "Add to Reading List" then go back to look at what is stored in the Reading List, my recently-saved item is not there.
I looked thru the History tab and the Reading List tab and have been in the Bookmark tab. But even when I Save a Bookmark, that newly-saved Bookmark does not show up in the Bookmark area.
But then again, the next day (and actually just in the last half-hour) all of the functionality came back. When I look at the Bookmarks, suddenly, again, all of the Bookmarks that are on my Safari browser on my iMac are now there, and I can now Save a Bookmark.
It keeps coming in and out and that is what is driving me a little nuts.

Safari 4 will not import bookmarks saved with Safari 3.2.3!

Safari 4.0 (Build 530.17) for Windows DOES NOT correctly import bookmarks saved with Safari 3.2.3 for Windows!! There are no links!! But it does import the folders.
For example if I open the bookmarks in Safari, it looks like an HTML file. It says this:
Games

http://www.romnation.net/srv/download/rom/25758/mame/Tron-set-1.html
and many more folder categories....
But when I go to the File Menu and choose "Import bookmarks..." it will only import the Folder names, such as "Games" but NOT the web links.

I am looking for some help page regarding organizing bookmarks

Forgive me if I am mistaken, I have searched for some paragraph or any help page regarding organizing bookmarks but it returned zero results.
More specifically, I am looking for a way to separate my bookmarks into different categories for example, game links and mathematics links and this game link book mark folder (Say) could further be broken into folders like counter strike links, stronghold crusader links....
I shall be very thankful for any piece of advice in this regard

You can organize the bookmarks and create folders and sub folders ([[Bookmark folders]]) via the right-click context menu or the Organize menu in the Bookmarks Manager.

Three ways; tap the open flat book you get bookmarks it says favorites, history,etc. Scroll down that list, if your bookmark isn't listed by flicking the list up. Next, add the bookmark as favorite and you get a new icon on your Safari page. Last you can add favorites bar just under the URL box.

My bookmark icon in safari actually shows history and there is no "+" sign on my toolbar. What's wrong?

The same "Bookmarks" button shows either Bookmarks or History.
If you are seeing the History, click the "Bookmarks" button to the left of "History" in the menu title and it will switch to Bookmarks.
If you are seeing the Bookmarks and want to see the History, click the top item, the History folder to see that.
History is like a folder under the Bookmarks. To move back to Bookmarks you move "back" to them.

Today all my Bookmarks disapeared from Safari, when i checked my iphone they were there and then went away the same happened on my ipad. Any ideas on how to restore?

My iCloud setting are set for Safari sync.

Then you have misunderstood what iCloud is.
First. It is not a back-up service. It is a sync service.
That distinction is very import. A back-up service would have backed-up your bookmarks but iCloud's function is to synchronize your data, in this case your bookmarks, to all your devices. A backup service, by it's very nature, would allow you to roll back to a previous version of your data or file. No such roll back function is present in iCloud's services.
For example, if you add a bookmark to Safari on your Mac that same bookmark will be added to all your other devices that are connected to your iCloud account. Also, if you delete a bookmark it will be deleted from all those devices.
iCloud does not make a distinction between deleting one or all of your bookmarks and it will do the same to all your devices. It does not know that was not your intention. That is why it is very important to have Backups and Apple makes it very easy using Time Machine and a simple hard drive connected to a computer.
Let's see if your bookmarks have actually been deleted or if there is another problem.
Your bookmarks are stored in a .plist file the following directory, ~/library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
To get to that directory go to the Finder, select the Go to Folder… menu item in the Go menu and enter ~/library/Safari/ in the field provided. There you will find the Bookmarks.plist file.
Select it and hit the space bar on your keyboard to see a preview of the files content. Does it still contain references to your bookmarks? If it does still contain references to your bookmarks then something else is going on and we'll have to find a different solution.
