"Organizing files" window in burn-to-disc 10.4.0.80

I recently downloaded iTunes 10.4.0.80 in an automatic update from Apple. Now, when I select a playlist and right-click to select "burn playlist to disc," the "burn settings" window pops up (normally) and then when I click OK, an "Organizing Files" window opens up and seems to be running several hundred (maybe thousand?) songs from my library before starting the burn process. What is going ON here? This feels more like a "problem" instead of a "feature."
I'm running iTunes on XP Pro service pack 3 (5.1.2600) on a Dell Inspiron 546 AMD Athlon II X2-215 2.7 gHz processor with 4 GB RAM and nothing else running. The hard drive only has 121 GB used of 347 GB available. The disk has been defrag'd and ScanDisk identified no problems.

I have the same problem I'm on a Win7 machine, my files are stored on my WHS, Itunes version is 10.4.0.80 it is very annoying issue I let it run through the first few times and now I just cancel it

  • Windows 7 burned iso disc, boot camp error help!

    Hello,
I am looking for some help while trying to bootcamp partition 85 gig for Windows 7 64bit on my Late 2009 Imac OS X 10.8.4. Using Bootcamp 5.0.3.
I downloaded a student copy iso of windows 7 64 bit from school and burned the image using disc utility to a DVD. (side note didnt bother renaming disc just burned the image)
While trying to "Create a Partition for Windows" and distributing 85 gig. It says that it cannot partition my drive.
The Windows disc I am using was burned using disc utility at normal speed using this file: "en_windows_7_professional_x64_dvd_x15-65805.iso" to the disc.
I am not sure if i am partitioning properly or that there is a disc or file error with the iso I am using... or the way i processed the file...or a better way to format the iso in order to bootcamp install windows 7 on my machine.
Any pointers help or knowledge in this area would be extremely helpful.
    Thanks!

I had that error message to, fixed it.
What you do is get idefrag, burn it to a disk with a program from them, then start up on it, defrag HD, this can be dangerous though i heard, what i did was let it run for the first bit until some certain files were defraged (they were some special stuff and had a diferant part to it), then i used bootcamp assistant again, but i only partitioned 15 gigs, maybe try partitioning less.
All you really need is enough space to install windows and a little more for updates ect. then you can use a program so you can access your HD from windows partition, so you can share your files, and you can install games and stuff on your HD instead of on the partitioned space.
MacDrive 7 will allow you to do that, just get it, and install the update right away cause it wont work till you install it, and be sure to put in your leopard DVD and install the apple drivers, they are very necessary!
hope this helps, i know how you feel, it took me so long to finally get it top work and i wanted it so much.

  • File Export, file size huge, burn to disc?

I am new at this and confused.
I created an Album in IPhoto which contains all 4,749 of my pictures. In the Info box at bottom left in IPhoto, its size is 8.4GB.
I exported this album to a folder on my Desktop using File>Export & choosing JPEG maximum quality, full size & include titles & keywords. When I check Get Info for that folder, its size is 22.62GB. That's nearly 4 times bigger. Can that be right?
I want to copy the folder on my Desktop to a CD or DVD . So if I have a DVD that says it can hold 4.7GB, I'm going to need 5 discs to copy the whole folder--?
I have Time Machine backing up my IMac but I wanted a copy of my pictures with their titles to be able to load on a Windows machine. Am I on the right path here?
    Thanks so much!

Sorry to be so fragmented in my responses but I just started to try re-exporting using Original and when I choose KIND: Original, I am no longer offered the option of including Titles and Keywords.
One of my goals is to make a backup version of my pictures which are not tied to the IPhoto software--just in case someday I would need to load them into non Apple-friendly software--basically to have a copy of them in their original format, like they are on the memory cards they were taken with. I see that I can accomplish that by choosing KIND: Original.
However, I also want to be able to preserve all the titles I have given them. I had understood from an earlier post (probably from you) that most photo software would have the capacity of displaying the title files. Is there any combination of choices in the Export menu I can use to produce a copy of my pictures with quality as good as they were originally and keep my titles? I have done very little editing of my pictures so preserving changes is not an issue.
Many many thanks for sharing your expertise.

  • Burn to Disc button not working

    HI
We have a Windows 7 image deployed to 400 machines in our domain. A number of the machines have the following problem when buring discs.
Select files to burn to CD/DVD
Select Sent To - CD/DVD Drive
From the Computer Window, select Burn to Disc
    Result - Nothing happens, however
If we right click the CD/DVD drive and then select Burn to Disc the GUI will pop-up and we can then burn the files to CD/DVD.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
According to your description, I suggest to perform these tests to narrow down the issue:
1 Unplug all necessary hardware and logon with
    Clean Boot
2 Update BIOS to the latest version
    3 Remove third party tools
    4 Update DVD driver

  • DVD jerks/stutters once burned to disc

    Hi
I am using Premiere Elements 7 - my computer is a core 2 duo - 3Ghz with 2 GB RAM
    What I have done:
I have created a video - 90min long, it was filmed with a Panasonic HD camera, I have used PAL Full HD 1080i preset.
I first exported the edited movie (to create a master file) using MPEG as a PAL widescreen DVD and H.264 1920x1080i 25 as I need DVD and Blu-ray copies.
I then opened the exported "master file" and added the menu.
I then burned it to a directly DVD and the hard drive (then copied it to DVD)
    The Problem:
When playing it back on a DVD player and TV + the computer the picture jerks/stutters with fast motion.
    What I have tried:
    1. Different burners: LG Blu-ray burner and Samsung DVD burner
    2. Different DVD disc types
    3. Burned the file to the hard drive first and then copied to a disc at 4x speed. (this helped a little)
    4. Tried different burning software - Nero, Power2Go and with Premiere Elements
    5. Tried creating (burning) DVD with both MPEG and m2t as the "master file"
    6. Burned the disc with and without a menu
Where I think the problem is:
When I view the "master file" it plays perfectly, the MPEG file especially, the m2t has a very slight jerk.
Once I have created the disc, on the hard drive or a physical disc, this is where the problem starts.
It would seam that the problem is happening when I burn the disc and it is not the burner or the discs causing the problem as the results are the same if I burn to the hard drive or a disc.
Any advise on how to fix this would be much appreciated as I have to deliver 100 copies of the concert in 18 hours time.
I do not know what else to try!
    Thank you
    Michael

Assuming the jerkiness isn't a problem with the disc itself (which can happen if you use cheap discs, like Memorex, or put labels on them, which can jam up your DVD player), it's most likely an interlacing problem.
I can't tell from your camcorder description what type of camcorder you're using (HD could mean hard drive or hi-def, and hi-def could mean HDV or AVCHD), but it is vital you use a project preset that matches your camcorder or you'll have problems. I'm also not clear which preset you're using, as there are a couple which are 1080i.
That said, I'm also not sure why you're exporting an MPEG and an H.264 BEFORE you create your DVD or BluRay disc.
If you're going to burn a BluRay, you should use the project itself as your output. You definitely do NOT want to export an H.264 from Premiere Elements and then import that MP4 into another project. Why not just burn your BluRay directly from your project?
You're also outputting an MPEG for, apparently, use in a standard definition project. That, too, could be contributing to an interlacing problem if you're then using that MPEG in a standard DV project to create your DVD. What you want to do, to create a standard DV project, is to export a DV-AVI from your project and then open a standard DV project and use that for your source file.
You're going in and out of MPEGs and MP4s is very likely why you're seeing all this stuttering.

  • Organizing photos to burn to disc

    Hi,
First off, I have looked through the discussions and can't find any information that can help me with this matter.
I want to burn 6 folders onto a disc from my Library. The pictures in the folders are in a particular order, but when I burn the disc, all the pictures and folders burn in a 'random' order (I know random is not the case here). I have renamed the pictures in the folders by doing a batch name change for each folder, but the pictures continue to be placed on the disc in a different order.
Is it possible to organize my photos on the disc with the pictures in order? It was time consuming to hunt through my Library and create the folders in the first place. I want to burn 6 onto a disc and when I reload the disc... they are out of order again... 500 photos that I have to hunt through to find a particular one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Andrea
      Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Andrea,
Are you trying to create a disc that will work withOUT iPhoto? Meaning that it simply contains the 6 folders of image files and no library information? Files in the Finder list in alpha-numeric order, so you'll need their filenames to be adjusted accordingly.
If so, then create an iPhoto Album for each folder you want. Arrange the photos in the albums in your desired order. Then Export each album to a desktop folder. The Export dialog gives you the option to rename the files by Album name. If you have an album called June, then the files will be June - 01, June - 02,...June - 99. This will only work for 99 photos, so limit the albums to that size.
If you don't want all the photos in the June album to be named June - ## there is another option that allows you to use the iPhoto titles to help you identify the photos. Arrange the photos in their Albums as before. Then edit the titles. You can go through each one and add a number to the beginning of its title. Be sure to pad the first ones with enough zeros for the last number (1 for up to 99, 2 for 100 to 999). This would give you 01 Swimming, 02 Dolphins,...99 the Beach. Export each album with "Use Title" selected. Now that the titles are in alpha-numeric order, they will remain as such. This method is obviously more time consuming, but may save you time when using the disc in the future.
You can name those 6 folders as you wish. To get them to list in a particular order simply add a number to the beginning of each folder name, from 1 to 6. Burn those 6 folders to your disc from the Finder.
On the other hand, if you want a disc that works directly in iPhoto, then you burn it from within iPhoto. It will mount in the Source Pane and allow you to view your photos in the iPhoto window as before. The order of the files would not matter.
    Regards.

I have a Windows 7 laptop using I tunes 64 and all my music files are
on an external disc. I rarely use I tunes and at one point moved all my files
(including the music files) from one external disc to another without
considering what affect this would have on the I tunes library. When I eventually
attempted to use I tunes, every selected a song from the library resulted in a
message stating that the file couldn't be located. After following some of the procedures
explained in this community I was able to reconnect the library back to where
the associated music files are presently stored. However, there are still 2
problems that need to be corrected. 1) Every song file now has a duplicate. One
file works and the other file will result in the same message stating that the
file couldn't be located. Before there were 4,000 songs in the library, now
there are 8,000 songs. I need to eliminate the 4,000 dead song files. 2) All
the playlists are still associated with the dead song files which makes the
playlists unusable. Can the playlists be reconnected to the usable files
without manually having to recreate them? Thanks in advance for the help.

    So am I understanding correctly?
You used your iPod as a hard drive (drag and drop) instead of having iTunes install the music?
If you used drag and drop your choices are different than if you used iTunes to transfer.
    Good luck!

    try this...
This is how I managed to fix the problem...and I hope this helps others in the similar situation.
I tried with another program..latest version of Nero, and this was also stopping at the 'initialising' stage. I was now lost! I thought the last resort is to give Evesham (My PC manufacturer) a buzz. They were very helpfull. Basically go into 'Control Panel', 'System', and click on the Hardware tab, then 'Device Manager'. Uninstall everything in the DVD/CDRom Drives. Then uninstall everything under the catagory IDE ATA/Atapi disk controllers. This is where my problem was, as I only had one IDE channel here. You should have 4 or 5! Reboot your machine, and everything will automatically re-load. I tried burning using Nero and it worked. Then the big test was iTunes. It worked 1st time!
I asked why the IDE channels have dissappearred, and he said sometimes uninstalling Programmes occasionally removes them.
I hope this will help others who are having problems to burn stuff on iTunes.

  • Windows Vista Home Basic: Disc burner or software not found..

    Need some help please!?
I have searched sites across that internet in hopes to find a solution to this problem. I hope someone can help.
I have an acer running windows home basic. I have recently installed iTunes (its the best!!). I went to burn a disc and when I click the button at the bottom of the screen, it says "disc burner or software nout found"..
For some reason, I thought it was my Daemon tools virtual CD emulator, uninstalled that, still having the same problem..
    HELP!?

+The error message isn't exactly the usual one, I wonder if you have another issue such as Daemon tools, iTunes doesn't like virtual drives.+
Hi p. Just a possible heads up on distinguishing the 64-bit thing from the Daemon tools thing. With earlier "Disk Burner not found" messages related to missing the 64-bit drivers (on a 64-bit system), the error codes in the DVD/CD diagnostics next to the affected drives typically used to be 2380, and 2355. (rather than the 2510 that seemed to be associated with the Daemon Tools SPTD driver thing on 32-bit systems that could produce a "Disk Burner not found".)
I'm well out of date with troubleshooting this on recent versions (7.4.x or above), though,

  • Windows 7 does not recognize cd/dvd drive. Will not burn a disc

In November 2013, I  bought a refurbished hp Compaq 7900 convertible minitower, Product No. NJ3226UC#ABA, 32-bit.  Windows 7 and WMP 12 were installed by the company that refurbished it.   WMP's  play, rip, burn, sync worked perfectly.
I made the mistake of installing itunes.  I purchased music and made a playlist from my library and itunes.  I tried to burn the playlist with Memorex discs.  WMP burn would kick out the cd at 99% complete.  I tried a different brand of disc and had the same  problem.  The message each time was 'Windows Media Player Encountered an error while burning. Verify that the burner is connected properly and that the disc is clean and not damaged.'  I tried burning a disc using itunes burner but it didn't do anything.
First, I removed every Apple application from my computer.  Then I ran Microsoft CD/DVD trouble shooter.  It didn't correct the problem and gave me the message "cannot locate CD/DVD burner".  I ran trouble shooter in the Control  Panel selected System Security's, Find and Fix. Then Selected  Configure a Device .  Results were 'Hardware may not be detected try to do what you wanted to do again' I tried 2-3 times.  WMP would not burn.  Tried Apple for help and didn't want to reinstall itunes.  I reinstalled Quick Time.   Followed Microsoft's 5-step resolutions:
              1.  Used the troubleshooter in Control Panel.
              2.  Ran CD/DVD Fixit trouble shooter.
              3.  Manually fix corrupted registry.
              4.  Update or reinstall driver.
              5.  Create a sub registry key.
I tried to burn after every step and got the same result.it burned to 99% and kicked out. I used system restore back to May 15, 2014  thaat was before installing iTunes.  No burn.   Checked  driver and response was that 'Driver is working.  No problem was found'.    Today, ran Troubleshooter in ControI Panel and this was the messsage, 'Configuration Settings May Be Incorrect'.  How do I correct  this?  Help!  What next?

    Hi,
You were given some very good advice on your other post.  I ran into a very similar issue when I had installed iTunes and the end result was that I had to do a factory recovery back to a day one condition. Then I had to do a slow software installation process, checking every time I had installed a third party application.  I got tripped up a couple of times but determined that I had to install iTunes before installing other CD/DVD media programs (Roxio,WMP and Cyberlink).
Do a fresh OS installation without the extra third party software and then install Imgburn.  Then use Imgburn to determine the capabilities of your optical drive and match the media specifications those detected by Imgburn to the media type that you are using. Do not use cheap media as the firmware in your optical drive may not support it. I prefer to use Verbatim media. Now see if Imgburn will burn your optical media before attempting to install iTunes and other CD/DVD optical media programs.

I have an hd movie on final cut pro x; i want to create an sd disk of that movie. compressor created 2 files: dolby.... and mpeg2. How do I get these files burned to disc to create my sd movie?

These are elementary streams and they would be used by DVD authoring apps that use them for reasons like foreign language capability. Examples would be DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Encore, Toast.
The most straightforward way to burn your DVD is either to use the Share feature in FCP or the Batch Template feature in Compressor.
If you can find a boxed copy of iLife (try Amazon), it should have iDVD as part of the suite of apps. iDVD offers far more complete authoring capability than FCP or C4. iDVD  doesn't work with elementary streams; you'd just drag in your HD movie and you'd be good to go.
    Good lluck.

after mixing a project i select bounce and burn the disc that is burned plays on any cd player but when i try to burn the wav or mp3 file that was created the resulting disc will only play in a computer this also happens with video projects help please are there any settings i need to alter as it seems the wav or mp3 file i ceated is being converted to a data file somewhere between the folder and disc drive

Same thing for a movie file.. If you want to play back the movie via a DVD and a DVD player you must create a Movie DVD  and not just burn files to a data DVD... as Data DVDs are just storage devices for files and therefore will only work with computers...
Movie DVDs are special formats that include things like menus and special file formats.. so they can playback via a DVD Player...
You will need a 3rd party DVD Burning app like Toast which is what i actually use.... or the more popular DVD Creator app...to create and then burn a Movie DVD that will playback on a DVD Player....

  • Why can't iTunes for Windows burn two discs at once?

Is there a way to get around this? I have many playlists I want to burn for car listening and only using one drive with one burn at a time is time consuming. I've heard that the Mac version can burn two discs at once and I wonder why the Windows version has been neglected in that capability. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

I have never heard that the Mac version can burn two discs at once.  The Windows version definitely cannot.  If you would like to make a suggestion to Apple you can use this link:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html   However, I assume you are aware that the iTunes burning capability has not been enhanced in years.
