Organizing names & Address by date they were input

Is there a way to organize my Names & Address files by the date they were inputted into the program?

The nice thing about Sagesse's 'Serial Number' solution is that a Serial Number type field created in an existing database will number the records +in the order in which they are currently sorted+.
For a new DB, you can use Peggy's solution as written, or create a Record Info type field, and choose the Date Created option after clicking Create. Doing that with an existing file unfortunately adds the field, but fills it all existing records with the date that the field was created (ie. 'today's date').

Barry

    You are welcome.
Sorting and organizing photos on IOS devices is one of the things that really need to be improved. It looks like the developers simply did not expect the users to want to keep large photo libraries on an IOS device, where the ordering would matter. I'd send feedback to the developer team, so that they see, what the users want and need:
You can use this form:  Apple - iPhoto - Feedback

  • I need to move 1000 photos from one library to another. How do I do that and keep the ratings and dates they were created?

I need to move 1000 photos from one library to another. How do I do that and keep the ratings and dates they were created? I tried exporting them, but it loses all info. Also, how do I move the quicktime movies from one iphoto library to another? They were exported as jpgs

Add both libraries to iPhoto Library Manager.  Then select the events or albums that you want to copy from library A  and drag them to library B in iPLM.

Right click the header bar. Select "Date Added" to add it if it isn't already a sort category. Then click the heading to sort either in ascending or descending order.

  • I want my pictures and videos to be sorted by the time and date they were taken.   I have Lilghtroom sorting by the creation date, but the videos are sorting separately from the pictures even when the creation dates indicate they are out of order.

I have set the sort order to be by the creation date of the pictures and media I have in the catalog.  But the pictures appear first, in chronological order, then some of the videos follow, in their chronological order, but the videos and pictures don't mix amongst each other in straight chronological order.  How can I fix this?

I think it’s only possible to see raw and jpeg stills side by side e.g. in true chronological order after setting LR prefs. Your video files will automatically show up in the Video smart collection. So you can view them in one place regardless of which folders they are stored in. Otherwise move your images and videos into a new collection and drag them into the order you want, where they will remain fixed. Or use the library filter to define a date range.

  • My display settings have gone wonky, how do I reset to last date they were correct?

I have no idea how I corrected this the last time, I forgot to write it down. I've tried every system preferences , tried all the diff settings on my monitor, I know it is an easy fix... Help? I know it involved going back to the last time I used my computer. I simply can't rem the steps.

No, thanks anyway, not the problem. I finally got into resetting the size in my display prefs, but as before, it's still not quite as easy to read as it was. I click my way through each res setting, hoping I'll find my old settings. I can read this now, the window is a comfortable size after dragging it out a bit, but the various areas of font are just a little way off.

  • When i moved emails into folders on my ipad and went to retrieve them later they were deleted

I use yahoo for my email account and have this acocunt set up on my ipad.  I have folders that I use.  When I moved emails into a folder on my ipad and went to retrieve them at a later date they were deleted.  I accessed my yahoo account from my computer and they weren't there.  When I opened the folder on my ipad the email was there for a second and then it checked for updates and the emails disappeared.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
iCloud doesn't back up your emails on iCloud. If you have Mail turned on in Settings > iCloud, it just means that you are using your @icloud.com or @me.com mail account on the iPad. In this case, all the mails you receive onto the iCloud mail address are stored on iCloud. iCloud uses IMAP, so if you delete a mail from one device or computer, it will be deleted from all other computers and devices. Unfortunately, you can't recover emails

  • Organizing Photos by Original Date

I've recently replaced by hard drive and upgraded to iPhoto 6. The problem is that my photos are all arranged in random order. The dates associated with the original files seem to have changed in some cases so that the photos are all mixed up instead of order by the date they were taken. is there a quick fix for this problem?
I've gone to the info for the photos in question and it only seems to give their "new date". Also, there are many aliases for the photos. Can this be part of the problem?

Those in the Date folder are the thumbnail files not your original full sized files.
If you had that checkbox unchecked and imported files into iPhoto and then later deleted those files after importing them, you would see exactly what you're seeing now. Unless you store the "source" files somewhere where the alias files can link to them and don't move or delete them you should have that checkbox checked so that iPhoto copies the full sized files into its Originals folder.
Since the Originals folder contains only alias files I'm afraid you've deleted the full sized copies and they are lost for good.

  • Smart albums based on date images were last edited

Here's a quick question to throw out to the masses...
Is it possible to create smart albums based on the date images were last edited within Aperture?
If yes, then I can't seem to locate it! - Probably right in front of my nose!
If no, then I think it would be a really handy feature so you can easily keep track of any changes made to individual images throughout your whole library by the date they were last tampered with.
Any views, or pointers in the right direction?
    thanks
    Jason.

    Hi,
this is exactly what I am looking for too! I would like to extend the question to: Is there any way to find the date when a version was created or modified?
    Thanks for your help,

  • When I imported my photos to iphoto 11 from an external drive they were no longer chronologically organized in folders by year & month. In fact, it changed the dates & years of the files so I can't even manually organize them.

When I imported my photos to iphoto 11 from an external drive they were no longer chronologically organized in folders by year & month. Instead, they all went into one folder within a 2011 folder. In fact, it randomly changed the dates & years of all the files so I can't even manually organize them now.

Are you sure that iPhoto is the app for you?
iPhoto is designed to help you organise your Photos, but you seemed focussed on organising files.
The idea is simple: organise them as you want in the iPhoto Window. As I said above, as you never access the files on the HD then how iPhoto stores them is of no relevance. (It's by date of import BTW).
Where are you seeing these changed dates? In the iPhoto Window ? Somewhere else?

  • What is the PowerShell code to display installed programs sorted by date that they were installed?

What is the PowerShell code to display installed programs sorted by the date that they were installed?

    Hi Larry,
If you don't mind using Win32_Product, you can do that this way:
    Get-WmiObject Win32_Product |
    Sort InstallDate |
    Select Name,Caption,Version,Vendor,InstallDate
    EDIT: Also,
Bill Stewart has a good script that uses the registry instead of Win32_Product. I'm not sure if it returns an installed date though.

  • How do I import my (many) videos so iMovie separates them by the date they orig. were made?

How do I import my (many) videos so iMovie separates them by the date they orig. were made?
(Like iPhoto does with photos) But not one at a time! If that is not possible with IMovie, can iTunes do that?
I want to import my videos from an external drive to my Mac Book Pro 10.8.3. Thank you so much for your time and patience.

    Hi Walter,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below will give you some insight as to how iMovie organizes video:
    iMovie '11: Organize your video
    Organize the Event Library
When you import video from your camera into iMovie, you name the video (called an Event), and then by default iMovie lists it in the Event Library by the date it was recorded.
To separate clips in the Event browser by the days they were recorded, choose View > “Show Separate Days in Events.”
You might want to do this if you have any Events that contain video that was recorded on more than one day. For example, an Event could have video recorded on New Year’s Eve and on New Year’s Day. To find specific clips more easily, you could separate the footage by date.
I hope this information helps ...

  • Data coming out of a loop, how can I represent them to be similar like they were in the loop?

If I link the vi "filter 2 1.03" located in the "analysis" vi (independantly from "analysis") to the "Global" vi located in the "3 dim-graph" vi and the link this to a 3D graph, I get the graph I looking for.
Here, the "filter 2 1.03" vi is located in the "Analysis" vi and the data traverse a loop before going to the "Global" vi, located in "3 dim graph" vi.
How can I do to have the data going in the "Global" vi, like if they were just coming out from the "filter 2 1.03" vi?

When I try to open your VIs, they come up broken. You may want to save the VIs as a development library. Open the VI >> file >> save as >> development distribution. I also cannot follow exactly what you need. Would it be possible to simply your code down to the exact problem? This will help us tremendously in giving you a solution.
