Organizing Photos in a Slideshow

I am organizing photos by date within a large slide show that I am setting up in iPhoto 9. When I decide to add another photo it of course goes to the end of the slide show. How do I get each new photo up into the slide show where I want it without having to drag each photo up into it's proper place? There has to be a better way, but I can't figure it out! It's a real drag doing it this way! In iPhoto 8 there were smaller thumbnail sizes that could be 'dragged and dropped' into place, but I can't find that in iPhoto 9 slideshow. Thanks so much in advance for any help!
Sunny

Sunny:
Add your photos to an album that's set to sort by date. Then when you have all the photos you want select that album and click on the Slideshow button. It's either that or doing what you're doing.

  • How do I align photos in a slideshow?

    Hello,
I have been trying to find out how to align photos in a slideshow so that they don't "jump around" in the page, when they have different formats. Unfortunately I just read this discussion and learned that it isn't possible.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/6071838
But Iguiva then writes: "Now I only can do it manually, one by one..."
If I can't controll exactly where the photo is shown, I don't see that I can use Muse.
So here is my question: How do I do it manually?
    Thanks,
    Tine

    Hi Tine,
You can go to the Hero Image level in the Slideshow and then double click the Hero Image.
That would give you access to the actual Image (you will see the Control Strip left corner reads "Image" rather than "Hero Image").
Once at that level you can manipulate and place your image inside the Hero Image container as you see fit and it will keep the position you set.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers,

  • How do I arrange photos in ATV2 slideshow

How do I arrange photos in ATV2 slideshow?

Thanks, that is what I am doing and it works.  But when the folder contents are displayed for Slideshow, the photos are not in the order that I want.  I can't figure out what controls the order in Slideshow because it is different from the order in the original folder and doesn't correlate with any of the columns (eg, Name, Date Created, etc). It seems like there is a random element in the transmission from iTunes to Apple TV, but that doesn't make sense.

  • How can i link a text to a photo into a slideshow?

hello, need some help please! i want to link a text to a specified photo into a slideshow, another word to another photo and so on...I've tried any slideshow, and composition with anchor points and it doesn't work. How can i realize that please?

There's no support within Muse to cause click on a word within a flow of text to result in a slideshow turning to a specific image.
A composition widget can be used to have clicking on or rolling over a trigger object cause a target container to appear.

  • How to order the photos in a slideshow

how to order the photos in a slideshow

Just like for any other photo - select the photos in the album and use the command "File > Order Prints".
Be careful, not to include any text slides. If it is difficult to select the photos in the slideshow, create a new album from the photos in the film strip (File > New Album).

  • How do I add captions to the photos in my slideshow?

Prior to the new Photos program, I was able to add captions to each photo in my slideshow - especially important for travel slideshows. I can't find any info on that or any function for that.

Thanks for your response but I can't find those apps under the list of apps in my settings.
    What do I next?

  • How do you add captions to photos in iDVD slideshows?

Is there a way to add captions to photos once you've put them into slideshows on iDVD? Or, if not, is there another way to add captions to them, though another apple application such as iPhoto? I haven't been able to figure out how to make captions for photos in iPhoto slideshows either. Please help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. if you're creating the slideshow from stills in iDVD use the Settings button at the bottom to bright up the pane where you can add titles and comments. The downside of that is every photo will automatically have it's file name or title entered. If you don't want that then while you're in iPhoto use the Photos->Batch Change->Title->None option before you import into iDVD. Then none of them will have the titles entered and you can add them to just those that you want. Or you can add them while in iPhoto before importing.

  • Videos on iPhoto no longer play. All was fine as I was organizing photos, but suddenly no more videos would play. What has happened?

Videos on iPhoto no longer play. All was fine as I was organizing photos, but suddenly no more videos would play. What has happened?

Something went wrong. Now for a useful answer...
Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Organizing photos with no dates - what's best?

Hi, I'm new to Macs and iPhoto so please be patient! I have quite a lot of photos scanned from very old family photos, many of which I have no idea of the date when it was taken. iPhoto seems to want a date for every photograph - is there a way of labelling the date of a photo as unknown? Similarly is tehre a way of giving a photo a year without having to specify a day and month, as sometimes the only thing I know about a photo is the year.
How do other people go about organizing photos with this problem?
    Any suggestions gratefully received!
    Thanks,
    Andy

About all you can do in changing the date for the photos in the Info pane is to select 1/1 as the day for the year you want to associate with the photo. Otherwise, as you've found out, iPhoto will put today's date with that year.
What I do is name the photo before importing with the international date format, YYYY-MM-DD-01.jpg, -02.jpg, etc. You can do it manually or if you have a group your can batch rename them sequentially with an application like "R-Name". You can find it by searching at VersionTracker.com. In your case you can just use the year and some other identifier, i.e. 2001-grandma.jpg, They can be sorted alphanumerically by year that way. You can also change the title in iPhoto, either singularly for by batch. This will change the title but not the file names. To get the file names the same as the title you must either rename before importing or after renaming in iPhoto export to the desktop using the "Use Title" option.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • How to publish a photo book and slideshow in iWeb

Is it possible to (or how do you) publish a photo book and slideshow in iWeb created either in Aperture or iPhoto?

Here's an example of E Books. They're created in iWork and loaded into iWeb as a compressed PDF for download. The photo of the front cover is used for the link.
    http://roddymckay.com/SongBooks.html
    http://www.maisonlavoie.com/Catalogue.html
For a larger file, you can upload it to a folder on your server and create a link to it from your website.

  • How change positions of photos in a slideshow?

How do I change the positions of photos in a slideshow?

Are you saying you can't change the order of the slides in this tray in the slideshow mode?
One should be able to drag and drop photos into any position you want. If you can't then try this:   make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • When I export photos to Iphoto slideshow they crop more after each play. Is this common?

When I export photos to IPhoto slideshow they crop more and more after each play. Is this common?

No. In fact, I've never heard of it before.
It might help if you could give us some details. What do you mean by "export photos to iPhoto Slideshow"? DO you mean you're adding photos to a slideshow in iPhoto? Or hat you created a slideshow in iPhoto and exported that to the Finder?

  • Can I extract photos from a slideshow?

I was given a slideshow someone made. It is identified as VIDEO_TS.VOB and opens in VLC. It won't play in Quicktime. Anyway, is there a way of extracting the original photos from the slideshow?
Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

    N-h:
Unfortunately, no. A screenshot is the best you can do. The original photos were converted to a 640 x 480 size for use in a QT format movie. Maybe it's time to consider an external FW hard drive for backup purposes. It's very cost effective insurance against such loss.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Organizing photos on itouch

Hi, I have organized photos on my PC with multiple levels of folders so that I can navigate and find photos quickly. When I synch with the itouch, it looks like I can have only one level of folders - I would think there must be some way to have multiple folder levels on your itouch?
    Thanks for any insight

Has anyoneelse out there been able to organize their photos in multiple folder levels on the touch?

  • Every time I add a photo to a slideshow it messes up my entire slideshow. It puts the pics in a completely different order. What can I do to stop this?

When using iphoto, every time I add a photo to a slideshow, it rearranges all the photos in the slideshow.  Then I have to go back and put them back in the order that I wanted. What can I do so it doesn't do this?

Are you using a particular theme?  In the Classic theme when I add a new photo to the mix it ends up at the end of the slideshow or at the farthest right in the thumbnail tray.
