Organizing Photos on import after upgrading to Lightroom 5

Recently upgraded to Lightroom 5 and when photos imported from lightroom 4 they are no longer organized they way they were in lightroom 4. They were organized by year and month, now they are all in one folder with no organization. Is there a way to change this setting to autmatically organize on import by year and month. I can't find my older pictures in lightroom.
Thanks.

True, which is what I think I did.
Installed Lr5, and when I opened it was prompted to make the catalog compatible to use in Lr5 so I clicked ok. Now my pictures are in one folder. Trying to change the setting so it will organize them based year, then month.

  • Cant import photos from EOS400D after upgrading on Lightroom 1.2

    Hi,
After I upgrade my Lightroom to version 1.2 I cant import photos from my Canon EOS 400D.
If I go File Import from device... this option is grayed and cant be chose.
If I click on Import button on Library panel, window with EOD 400D button shows but after I click on it, message No photos were found to import shows.
Anyone knows how to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Richard,
I've checked my Preferences. On Import tab checkbox beside Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photoswas unchecked. If checked result is same, Lightroom imports only jpeg's.
    Any other suggestion?
    Thanks,
    Bojan

  • After upgrade to  lightroom 4.3, my canon 7D is not showing up in lens profile correction

I think this happened after upgrading to lightroom 4.2, but I am not sure as I haven't used Lens profile correction in some time.
When I enable the "Enable profile corrections" checkbox in "lens corrections" The Make and model of the lens is recognized, but the profile field has only 2 optoins, "canon EOS 1D MK III" and "Adobe". It does not have any other options including the EOS 7D that I use. Tried uninstalling and installing again, that didn't help.
I found in the forum that for Win 7, lens profile is supposed to be stored in "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0", in my case the LensProfiles directory does not exist. There is a CameraProfiles directory(C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles).
    How do I solve this?

There is nothing wrong with your lens profiles.
The issue is that you are adjusting a JPG not a raw file.  When adjusting raw files the camera model is not listed with the profile because it doesn’t matter and all of them say Adobe as their source for Canon cameras at least, but when adjusting JPGs the camera may have done certain adjustments internally so it does matter and is why you see the wrong lens-distortion occurring when choosing the 5D Mark III profile with your 7D JPGs.
For the record, I have profiles in both the locations mentioned: under Program Files\...\CameraRaw and under ProgramData\...\Lightroom 4.x.  This makes sense because I have both Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom installed.  The ones under Lightroom are all dated 12/2012 while the ones under Camera Raw are mostly dated 2/2012 with some from 11/2012 and other dates.  The profiles are probably the same, but the Camera Raw ones retain the date of the original profile creation whereas the Lightroom ones all get updated to the same date.  Lens profiles can also be installed with the DNG Converter, although I'm not sure which of the two locations those install to.

    - If the photos were taken by or saved to the iPod just use the computer's camera/image capture software to get them from the iPod.
    - If the photos were synced to the iPod you need a third-party program such as PhoneView of TouchCopy.

  • Lost ability to access map after upgrade to Lightroom 4.2

    403. That’s an error.
After upgrading to Lightroom 4.2, have lost ability to access maps.  Suspect it may have something to do with client access. On one occasion got message.
Your client does not have permission to get URL/maps/api/js?sensor=false&v=3.6&callback=initial%20ize&region=ENfrom this server. That’s all we know.
However, have been unable to replicate this.
    Using Mac OSX 8.2
    Any clues?

        Hello Luiz
I'm so sorry you lost those features. Let's look into this. Which device do you have? Did you have the pictures backed up with an application?

  • After upgrade to Lightroom 5, image is blurry for a sec after any adjustment

Hi everyone. After upgrade to Lightroom 5, after any adjustment in Develop module, image is a little bit blurry for a while. It looks like the Lightroom is rendering stuff after changing exposure, contrast, vibrance or anything else. Blurrying is visible while moving a slider. When position of a slider is fixed, it takes a sec to render the image. I have no such thing with Lightroom 4.4 (or any previous version), so for now I go back. I reproduced this weird behaviour even with a new catalog, created with LR5 to be sure it's not related to upgrading my existent catalog.
My computer is MacBook Pro 17" (Early 2009) with Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz, 8 GB RAM, SSD, etc. I use up-to-date Mountain Lion.

IMHO, this is related to this issue :

The bug takes multiple forms but has probably a single root.

  • Can not import after upgrade

I just installed 10.5.1 and now my Iphoto 08 will not import my photos from my sony cam. It worked fine on Iphoto 08 before on 10.4, it says it unread able files even when they are just JPG files. I can move them to my desktop and drag them in Iphoto and they are fine , but not from the cam?

Does your sony cam appear in iphoto as an icon when connected?
After upgrading my canon cam would not appear in iphoto. I had to quit iphoto several times, restart the computer, try several different cables, and then as mysteriously the cam finally appeared and I was able to download pics. I even trashed the iphoto plist and started afresh.
    hope this helps

  • Cannot email photos from iPhoto after upgrade to 10.8

After upgrading to 10.8, I have not been able to successfully eamil photos from iPhoto. I can select the photos, click the email icon, and have Mail open with the photos attached (as expected). But the send button is grayed out, and the newly created message window cannot be closed. To get rid of the unsendable email, I have to quit or force shut down Mail, then reopen Mail and manually delete the email from Drafts.
Has anyone else run into this issue?

As Larry suggested go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and make sure your email account information is correct. If you joined iCloud that is a must.

  • Can't open photos in iPhoto after upgrade to 9.5

After upgrading to iphoto 9.5 I can no longer open albums, events or photos.  The photos appear in thumbnail version only.  Doesn't help to reboot iphoto or the whole Mavericks.
Is there a fix, or is this a bug?

    Back up.
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Why is aperture 3.4 crashing during import after upgrade?

After running a typical upgrade from Software update on my mac I have had the problem of importing files into Aperture.
Exactly what happened and equipment used.  Used SD 45mbs 16gb SD card to import RAW images after a shoot.  This has been working and tested the day before update.  Was prompted to update to Aperture 3.4 along with another update for OSX.  After reboot I launched Aperture and was prompted to update library.  Next SD card was inserted, pictures showed up as previews, all were selected and checked to import all.  Application crashes see below.
    What I have tired.
    removed application
    removed preference files
    reinstalled application
was prompted for upgrade of library
once done inserted SD to import files
Same issue files show up but they do not import and same report comes up
have attempted multiple SD cards with no resolve.
Able to use disk on another computer with no issue.
    Someone please help

What Aperture version are you running exactly? Aperture 3.4 or 3.4.1? The 3.4.1 update has some important bug fixes. If you did not install  the last update, I'd recommend to update.
Some posters had problems with the image capture preferences, after upgrading to 3.4, and that caused troubles during import. Try if removing the image capture preference files helps:
To remove the image capture preferences:
If Aperture is running, quit Aperture,  and log off and on again.
Open your user library from the Finder's Go menu: Hit Command Shift G (⌘⇧G) and then type in: ~/Library/Preferences/  then hit return.
In the window that opens remove "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist"
and look into the subfolder "ByHost": if there are files named com.apple.ImageCapture  something.plist  remove them too.
    then try again.

  • TS1277 "iPhoto was unable to connect to Photo Stream" error after upgrading to mountain lion

Has anyone gotten this error after upgrading to mountain lion on a computer that already had a user setup on it?
My iphoto was working with photostream and now it will not connect at all.
I ran fix disk permissions and once it showed up in iphoto, photostream was loading and then it disappeared again.
    help!

FWIW I fixed mine when I realised I'd probably downloaded iPhoto using an AppleID from the App Store but logged into iCloud with a different AppleID. I deleted iPhoto and it's related files (but not the iPhoto Library) using CleanApp, entered the App Store with my usual AppleID and downloaded iPhoto again. Once the App Store, the downloaded iPhoto and iCloud logins were the same iPhoto Stream worked again.

  • Won't import after upgrade to photos

so I upgraded to photos, tried it out and didn't like it. opened the aperture library and everything seemed fine.
i plugged my phone into the Mac and aperture opened like it normally does but does not recognize the
phone for import. if while aperture is open, I also open image capture, then aperture recognizes my iphone
for import. same sort of bad behavior when I plug in an sd card.
any thoughts on how I get the old behavior back?
    thanks
    pete

If you want Aperture to open when connecting your card, camera or devices when plugged in, just connect that device/card/camera to the computer. Then, open Image Capture from the Applications folder. You'll see the device in the left column and select it. Then toggle open the option at the very bottom of that column (Connecting this camera opens:). Change the pulldown from Photos to Aperture. you just do this for each device.
