Organizing photos that are not in proper date sequence

Is there an easy way to re-organize photos that are not in the proper date sequence? Do I eventually have to do each photo manually?
Thanks

You can drag them into the sequence you prefer in an Album (but not in an Event).
You can correct the time using the Photos -> Adjust Date and Time Command

  • How can I find photos that are not assigned to any collection?

    Hi !
    I'm using LR 5.7.1 on a Mac.
When I've retouched raw pictures with PS CC (and do not need the PSD file any longer) I export the PSD (that is in my catalog) as JPG and let it add to my catalog automatically. After that I delete the PSD file. That works fine.
But .... the new JPG file is not assigned to any collection. That's no problem unless I forget to do it manually after that export (and import).
That brings me to my question.
How can I find photos that are not assigned to any collection?
I tried it with a smart collection after I found nothing suitable in library filter. The search criteria I tried are Source -> Collection with any of the conditions. One with an empty value field, then with just a space and so on.
Has anybody a good hint for me?
    Thomas

You can also add numbers if you have collections that don't use alphabet characters.

  • How can I find photos that are not in any event?

Help!  I have finally, after a decade or so, organized my events and emptied out the trash and gotten rid of duplicates. Round of applause, please.  How can I find out if there are sneaky pictures that are NOT in any particular event (please dont say by showing all photos and just going through each one!)

You can't because every photo is in an Event already. That's how iPhoto works. Every photo is in the LIbrary. The Library is built upon events. SO if it's in iPhoto, it's in the Library and in an Event.
Albums are different, as they refernce photos in the LIbrary. It;s perfectly possilbe to have a photo in the Library but not in an album.

  • LR3 Syncronize folder finds "missing" photos that are not missing

Having switched to LR3 I made some new catalogs and syncrnized some folders.  LR3 kept find a ton of missing photos though and I was sure they were not missing.  SO I clicked on the "show missing files" button and sure enough it just showed me hundreds of photos that were not actually missing.  I checked them by right clicking on them and using the "show in finder" option to check that they were indeed still on my disk.
Whats happening ?  It seems to do it every time and I have tried it with several folders.  Every time it thought it found hundreds of missing photos.

    Melissa,
I did not upgrade my catalog from LR2 to 3 , instead I started an entirely new catalog. I was hoping then to import some old LR2 catalogs into the new LR3 one but alas that plan has fallen foul of the import bug that effects importing catalogs with the same folders in them so I cant do that..... but thats all in another thread.
I think maybe I was not clear enough becuase it sounds like you didnt quite catch my point.  My point is that the photos are not missing at all, they ares still clrearly displayed in the catalog and I can double click them and open them no problem.  I do not have to locate them at all. They are still there.  It is just lightroom saying they are not there when i sync a folder.
So to clarify, when i syncronize,it tells me that X number of files are missing.  If I click the button to "show missing files"  all the photos that it shows, are still there.  It does not display them as missing, it displays them as normal.  Now this would not reall be a problem except that the sync default is to remove missing files.  So if you leave that option selected, LR removes a ton of files that were not missing!
Does that make it clearer, sorry i was not so clear the first time.

  • Scanned photos are not in proper date order

I have photos that I am scanning & importing into iPhoto6, but iPhoto sorts them by import date. I want them to be sorted by modified date (I think). I have read on this forum similar problems & solutions, but as yet cannot seem to find a solution that works properly. First I downloaded Miana & exported the photos I wanted to change & ran them through Miana. That changed the date to what I wanted, but when I re-imported them back into iPhoto6 the import date changed to today & that is how they are sorted even though the modified date is the date that I set in Miana so the end result in iPhoto is what I started with. Then I downloaded Joe's iPhoto Applescripts & ran it against the photos, while it seems to do something to some date (the photo changes position in the thumbnails), when doing a get info on the photo the Modified & Import dates have not changed & the Original & Digitized Dates are still blank. I other words some date (that I cannot see in Get Info) seems to be changing & reordering the photo but this is a blind operation so I really do not know what the resulting date is or for that matter what date actually changed.

    Lee:
You can change the date of either the individual photos and/or the rolls by selecting then and going to the info section at the bottom of the Source pane. Just as you can change the title, you can change the date.

  • Returning Photos that are not developed correctly?

    Hello, Newbie here-
I have recently ordered close to 2000 photos from Kodak/Iphoto, there are about 40 photos that I need to return due to the photos not being centered or they are too dark, unfortunately I cannot find any information that allows me to contact the photo store to ask how to do this can anyone help?
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Contact Apple thru this site: http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/customerservice/orderprints/. More likely they will give you credit for the photos and you'll just have to reorder them.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • IPhoto 11, how do I view photos that are not assigned to any album?

I am trying to orginize my photo library (iPhoto 11) a bit better. I have 7,500 photos and I'm looking to find which ones are not in any album. I saw sugesstions for iPhoto 09 where you can make a smart folder for that very situation, however I don't see that ability in 11. Any suggestions? Thanks

  • Relocating photos that are not stack picks

My current workflow plan says -
    1) import photos from camera as managed masters
    2) grade each photo up to 5*.
    3) Keep the 5* photos and sync to iPad/iPhone.
    4) Relocate the masters that have less than 5* onto a backup disk
The problem I have is that if I create additional versions during the grading process (to crop or tweak levels), then I may have a 5* version and a <5* version of a photo.
If I select all photos <5* and relocate, this moves the master for the 5* photos that share those masters.
Is there any way to select and relocate only version for which NO version has 5*?

Given your current workflow I don't see anyway of doing it via ratings. When you create two versions of an image there is no connection between them apart from having a common master. So even if the filters had more options for the ratings section I don.t think you could come up with a combination that would do want you want.
So if not ratings what? I think stacks are the way to go. Set up Aperture to stack new versions. Aperture->Preferences->General select *Automatically stack new versions*.
Now when you create a new version of a rated image it will be joined to the old version. When you're all done select all images with a rating less then 5 stars. Those not in stacks you can archive.
If while you were rating when you create a new version that doesn't get 5 stars if you also flag it then you can search for all images less than 5 stars and not flagged and only the none stacked version will come up. If there was a way to search for images in.no in a stack you wouldn't need this last step.
Of course after thinking about this and writing it out I can't help but feel there is a fundamental problem with this workflow being used in Aperture.

  • Script to report on clients that are not up to date with softwareupdate

I'm not sure how to do it yet. I just need a script that I can run on multiple computers that will tell me what machines require updates and the number of updates. I considered doing something along the lines of:
    <code>softwareupdate --list |wc -l </code>
but that does not seem to be fool proof since there are obviously lines of output regardless of whether there are updates or not. I just need to get back the number of patches missing from unpatched machines. We have our own SUS, so the only updates being pulled should already be approved.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

Actually this is exactly what I need, a script that will read the output of softwareupdate --list and count the asterisks and return with a number of how many there were. If there were no asterisks then it can skip that machine.

No, if they've been deleted from my photo stream, they have gone.

  • Is there a way to only view photos that are not already in an album?

Not much more to say than, what is in the subject.
I have gotten behind on organizing my photos in to albums, and I would love a method to view ONLY the pictures that have yet to be added to album. Especially useful would be if that un-albumed picture would then disappear from that view, i.e. where I could have a pile of pics that would diminish to zero once I had filed them all properly.
    Any tips?

  • Can I import to iWeb photos that are not in iPhoto?

I do not use iPhoto, but I'm building a photography website with iWeb. the only available file on the Photos media tab in iWeb is to iPhoto. Do I have to put all my wanted photos into iPhoto before i can import them to a web page in iWeb? Is there another way to get photos in from other non-iPhoto folders?
    Any problems with doing this?

Yes, you can. If you're creating a Photo page in iWeb just drag the photos into the photo section from wherever on the HD. In fact if you bring up the Media browser in iWeb you can drag any folder you want into the Media Browser's window just below the iPhoto icon and then drag from there into the photo page.
