Organizing the library - HELP!!!

I need help organizing my library. Right now the artists are listed in alphabetical order as I would like them. When I click on an artist name (i.e Velvet Revolver) it shows the four albums that I have in the library (Contraband, Fall To Pieces, Fantastic 4 Soundtrack, Slither). This is also how I would like it. Here is where my problem lies. In the lower section where the individual tracks are listed there is no rhyme nor reason as to how they are listed. I would prefer them to be in order per album (alphabetical like in the album listing) then by track number per album. How do I set this up? I know it is not a huge deal, but it is bugging me and I want to have it straight before I had a ton of cds. Thanks

In the main viewer window, under the Genre, Artist, and Album lists, there are several columns. Click the Album column to sort the window by Album. Each column will sort the window by that view.

  • Organizing the library window question...

I don't quite know how to describe this so please bear with me.
I am just seting up my girlfriends MB and going through itunes. On my itunes i have the library set up so that the top part of the window shows three boxes; Genre, Artist and Album. The bottom of the window shows the contents of the library, dependant upon which selection you make in any of the top three boxes. With my girlfriends itunes everything is still standard and i cannot for the life of me remember how to change it.
If you understand my query, please help. Much appreciated!

    I found it! Problem solved...

  • Ipod doesn't update all the library HELP

I've had my iPod Mini for two years now. A month ago I downloaded iTunes 7 and since then it has been a nightmare. I removed it and installed back the original software that came initially with my iPod.
I had to format my iPod and have to update it again. I have about 800 songs.
Sometimes iTunes recognizes my iPod and sometimes doesn't.
When I try to update my entire library, it only updates me 130 songs and then it says update is complete... I have tried this in another computer but it happens the same thing. I'm already thinking in buying a nano but I want to give it another try, any tips from someone?
Thanks really to anyone out there that helps me!

I'm not 100% sure, I can only think of two things that might work. Make sure that all of the songs have a check mark next to them, and you could also try unsyncing and resyncing your ipod to your computer.
Also, if your ipod is still under warranty, you can always call the APPLE SUPPORT LINE and see what they say.
Hope this helps, and I hope your problem gets fixed!

  • Organizing the Library in Logic 8

    Hello -
1 - I have just put some new EXS instruments into:
    user/library/application support/logic/sampler instruments
And they are there when I open the EXS24 itself, but is there a way to make them show up in the Media Library, where all the factory instruments are listed? Ideally, I would like a series of new folders underneath 'Jam Pack World Music', and the option to put some of the new instruments into exisitng 'factory' folders - for example, I have a new EP sound that I would like to appear in the 04 Keyboards > 01 Electric Pianos folder. Am I putting them in the wrong folders in the first place?
    2 - What is the difference - if any - between USER/library/application support/logic/sampler instruments and MACINTOSH HD/library/application support/logic/sampler instruments?
3 - Where do I put sample-based instruments? I have a couple of sampled guitars, which are a series of .wav files, and can't work out how to get them into Logic at all...
    Thanks for your help
    Joe

    Nope.
It shows the selected track's channel, and the channel that it feeds to.

  • I just had to have my toshiba laptop hard drive replaced and I am unable to move my itunes library from my ipad back to the laptop.  It says it is linked to another library  and I can only transfer purchased music etc and not the rest of the library.Help!

I have just had my Toshiba laptop hard drive replaced. This has resulted in all previous content held on the laptop to be lost.   I wanted to try and transfer my music library from my ipad to the laptop, but it will not allow me to do so.  The message is that the ipad is linked to another computer and it will only allow the transfer of the items purchased on through the ipad and nothing else.  Does anyone know if the full library can be transferred back to the computer?

You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

  • I am stuck in a book. There is no button to get back to the library.Help.

After a long search for access to Free Books I finally stumbled upon it. I looked through the list and downloaded. The Warden. I wanted to look for another book but with The Warden open there is no visible way to get back to List. If I exit and click on iBooks I just see The Warden again.

Having posted the question I saw a list on the right headed 'More like this'. One of them said
Tap on the middle of the book and A link to the Lin

  • Help Please..Until recently I have owed 2 iPod Classics - 2007 80gb and 2009 160gb (which has since been returned). How do I transfer the library from the 160 to the 80gb in iTunes using Windows Vista (ie merge the 2 libraries)? Thanks

Until recently I have owed 2 iPod Classics - 2007 80gb and 2009 160gb (which has since been returned as it had a very noisy hard drive).
How do I transfer the library from the 160gb  to the 80gb in iTunes using Windows Vista.
Nothing seems to help on the Apple support pages, so any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but not actually sure how to sync a second iPod with the library of the first, as I thought it would not recognise a new iPod for copyright reasons.
Also, the files are in a location on the pc but I had to do lots of formatting amendments in iTunes as most of the stuff was on mp3 files and the formatting was all over the place. I did not want to loose any of the work by simply asking the new iPod to look at the original file and would rather copy en masse from one device to another.
Any help or pointers greatly appreciated
    Thanks

  • On my MacBook with Lion Safari does start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library did not help. Where can I find and remove all components (LastSession ...)?

How can I reset Safari with all components? On my MacBook with Lion, Safari does not start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library does not help. Where can I find and remove all components as LastSession and TopSites?

The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running v10.7 Lion is to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Instead of restoring OS X in order to reinstall Safari, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If it's not an extension or plug-in issue, delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Are all three libraries under your account or are they in different accounts? Any other errros on the system?

  • I setup a separate itunes account for my iphone. I put my ipod music onto it. The music will not sync to my iphone. It tells that all info will be lost if I do it. HELP! The music is showing in the library.

you can connect the iPhone to your mac and import those iPhone photos and videos to iPhoto assuming you have iPhoto. You can create a folder and export all those photos to the Finder. Keep safe somewhere.  Also keep the iPhoto library for safe keeping. When you restore your iPhone you can sync all those photos back to the iPhone. so you will lose nothing. Just remember when you export from iPhoto select jpeg for photos and original for videos taken with the iPhone.

  • HT2553 My ipod classic 160gb cannot be synced by my windows vista. the library is copied alright but cannot be synced into the ipod; HELP! !

My ipod classic 160gb cannot be synced by my windows vista computer. The library is copied alright, but the ipod cannot be synced; Help! How can I overcome this, please?

    Hi, Chris,
    I mean, when I load my itune library as usual and the syncing starts, I get the problem as described as follows;
When I try to sync, I see the songs being copied then I get a message, say after about 45minutes, that, itunes cannot read the ipod contents because the ipod data drive is corrupt. I have tried different things to no avail. It is very fraustrating, and if I may say so, very disturbing.
I hope somebody can help me, for I can see now that, many people have got similar problems and they haven't been able to solve. I understand this is a common ipod problem and many people have had to abandone their ipods after such problems. It is very hurting because ipods are very expensive to buy, and so to write it off like that is very dis-heartening.

  • Itunes is not picking up the library on my external hard drive although I have mapped the drive in preferences? Can anyone help please? Thank you.

    Hi,
I have been rebuilding our iTunes library on a external hard drive, no problems to start with.  The pc crashed the other day and I lost some of the files.
I can see the music files on the external hard drive, but I haven't been able to get iTunes to pick them up as being the library despite following the instructions to map the drive under 'preferences' in iTunes.  I have added new songs, these are being saved in the folder on the external hard drive and are showing in the library pane on iTunes, any suggestions how I can get the other files to show in the library? Would be very grateful for any help! Thank you.

The fix for the exclamation marks is: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders
The proper way to use backups is to restore the photos to their original location, but you probably don't want to do that as you said your old hard disk was almost full. Thus, the solution given above will solve the problem.

  • Help!  Photos Library copied to external hard drive, but after preparing the library I can NOT see any pictures.

I am having a tough time and searched, but have not found an answer that works.  Last night I copied my iPhoto Library to an external hard drive because when I initially attempted to set up Photos, I got an error that said I needed 88 GB of space for the transfer.  I got the iPhoto Library onto the hard drive and reopened the app and it prepared the library.  It was talking forever, so I went to bed.  This morning, I have this screen...
There are NO pictures in the actual app.  I went to the external hard drive and see that the Photos Library exists...
I have tried to hold command and option and restart Photos and I did get a prompt that it was repairing; however, this was unsuccessful.  Please help!  I know the photos are there because when I show package contents, I see them all in my Masters/Old Masters folders.
    Thank you!

Agree with baltwo, though even if you have saved the install app I wouldn't use it unless its been used to install a known good copy of the OS already.
In your case, that probably means start fresh:
Restart the computer, holding down 'command' and 'r'. When the recovery disk window shows, choose 'Reinstall Mac OS X'.

  • I had to erase my hard drive and then reinstall everything back from my passport external hard drive. Now my iPhoto edit is not working. I get a blank screen when I want to edit. The photos show up in the library but I cannot edit them. Help?

I had to erase my hard drive and then reinstall everything back from my passport external hard drive. Now my iPhoto edit is not working. I get a blank screen when I want to edit. The photos show up in the library but I cannot edit them. Help?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
*1. Permissions in the Library* : Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
*2. Minor Database corruption*: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
*3. A Damaged Photo*: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
*4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
*5. A corrupted preference file*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
