Orginazer shots down

Elements 12 organizer shuts down when I try to start. Has worked in the past with no problems. Run win 8.1 on SSD disk. Is there any one who has an idea what`s wrong. Have reinstalled without success, have also installed the trial version of Elements 13, With same result. Grateful for answers.

Please try renaming psa.prf to psa_old.prf and status.dat to status_old.dat.
You can find the files at: %appdata%> Adobe > Elements Organizer> 12> Organizer
Now relaunch Organizer and see if it helps.

If you have not saved the document and Acrobat closed then it's not possible to retrieve the lost data on the pdf file.

If you keep getting a 'red' message it means that the HDD is faulty and will have to be replaced. You will have to format the new HDD in Disk Utility>Erase and then install the OSX and your data from Time Machine.

Can force shot down affect some applications?

I have Seagate external drive. In the past few days a message pops up "The disc was not ejected properly", in spite the icon is still on the desktop.
I restarted the finder and nothing showed up, empty desktop. I forced shot down, and I could not log in with my password, because the keyboard would not type. I shot down the computer holding the power button, and disconected the external drive. I could login, bot my outlook 2011 would not start and Adobe acrobat would crash. I rebuild the outlook, and restarted the computer. Went back to normal so far.
Question, what caused all this mess,
a) is external Seagate drive duying (Disk utility said that the drive is OK)?
b) Did I catch a virus?
Also every time I force shot down, I have to rebuilf identity for outlook 2011. Very disturbing. I never had these issues with Snow Leopard.

It's not a virus.
Every time you force your machine to reboot, there's a potential for data files that are open, and possibly even the hard drive itself, to become corrupt. I would recommend repairing your internal drive with Disk Utility. To repair your boot drive, you will need to hold down command-R at startup to enter recovery mode. From there you can open Disk Utility and do the repairs. Couldn't hurt to repair permissions as well, but do the disk repair first.
After that, rebuild your Outlook database again. If that's still not working, and that's the only thing not working, then you'll want to post over on the Microsoft Office for Mac forums for better results.
As to the Seagate, as gracoat says that behavior is normal if there's something wrong with the connection to the machine, but that does not have to be a bad USB or Firewire controller or the like. It could just be a wiggly wire. I've got one drive that came with a Firewire cable that is just positively awful, and can't maintain a decent connection. It fits a little too loosely, and the drive disconnects very easily, with similar symptoms when that happens. My fix was to simply use a different cable with that drive, as I've got plenty of other Firewire cables that fit well. So try a different cable.

My macbook continues to shot down.....

my macbook continues to shot down (more specifically when watching DVD's and youtube). Additionally i have a full battery and within 15 minutes it powers off. I can turn it back on without the charger but it happens again.Any advice?

Try CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the Safari icon in the Dock. If you see a Force Quit entry select it. If that doesn't work then press COMMAND-OPTION-ESC to open the task manager. Select the Safari entry and click on the Force Quit button.

Mackeeper has been known to cause more problems than fix, all the posts here say don't use it and offer instuctions on how to remove it, which is not as easy as just dragging it to the trash.
I am willing to guess that some of the third party software could be the issue.
Try a safe boot:

Shut down your Mac and wait 10 seconds.
Press the power button.

Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator (spinning gear).
To leave safe mode, restart the computer normally without holding down any keys during startup.
If you still have problems I would take it to Apple, there seems to be something strange going on here.

Auto shot down no longer works

I pulled a power plug out of my iMac. And now my 2 external Seagate drives no longer auto shut down. They stay on unless I pull my firewires 800 and 400 out.
The new Free agent Seagate doesn't have the on and off buttons. Its very frustrating.
What happened to my OSX ?
