OrgModeler - Dynamic org chart root

Hello experts,
We're on OrgModeler 3.0 SP2.
I'm trying to dynamically display the user's org unit as the root of the orgchart. I did the following:
1. Copied sap_userpopulation.xml file and changed org_unit to ID
<field name="OBJID" source="EmpOrgInfo" mandatory="true">
<alias>ID<alias>
<desc></desc>
</field>
2. Copied userpopulationinfo.xml file and changed org_unit to ID
<field name="ID">

Org Unit ID

</field>
3. AdminConsole --> Source OrgChart --> General Settings
Orgchart root value source = User record
User record field = blank (no values available in the dropdown)
Did I miss anything?
Thanks,
L

Hi Luke,
I checked the configuration for orgchart.
- Data Element: SAP_UserPopulation
- This field holds information in the authentication store used to search for the employee in the employee data source: UNAME
- This field holds the ID of the Employee or other information that matches data stored in u2019Employee Field in Authentication Sourceu2019: Userid
- LinkField to fetch employee: Object_ID
This is what I have on the orgmodeler side:
http://www.mediafire.com/i/?a5pcf7p054lgkwi
Object_ID is not an option for the linkfield to fetch employee dropdown.
The options are:
personnel id
first name
last name
cost center
org unit ID
position id
job id
org unit
position
job
gender
user id
central person id
Once again, thank you so much for all the help! really appreciate it!!

• What is additional config for Default Org chart Root as "Other"

Hello alll,
This is with regards to configuration of Organization chart in Nakisa - When we choose others option for Default Org chart Root:it asks for additional configuration to be maintained
Can you please tell us what this additional configuration is? and where it has to be maintained?
Choose "Other": Displays a customized value as the org chart root. - Please help us understand what this is.
Thanks & regards
HK

Hi HK,
You need to understand the core principles of configuring security in STVN modules as covered in the Advanced Technical Training courses Nakias provide via SAP. The configuration is done in the Login_Configuration.xml files in your build folder and AppResources.xml.
The coding is highly complex and requires experience of implementing it. It also depends on what type of build you have, what the authentication source is and how you plan to authorise the users once you have authenticated them. There are many combinations and it isn't something that can be explained over a Forum - it needs an experience consultant on-site in order to do it.
I hope that helps.
Many thanks,

• Mapping Org Chart to a specific role

Hi All,
I’m in the process in implementing NAKIZA V4.1 in my company but I’m facing difficulty in one of the requirements, I have two Org Charts configured, first one (main Org Chart) is displayed for all users which it’s rooted by User ID, it’s working fine.
My problem is with the other Org Chart (Second Org Chart) which is limited to a group of users(HR User) & it’s rooted to Org Chart root, I checked this Org Chart in the secured items & make sure it’s not displayed for all, then went & mapped it to the role related to those group of users(HR), but when I check the user access it’s still no appearing.
I already remove the user name and password from connection string, We are using Single sign-on with logon tickets (Portal integration).
Example:
There are two Org Chart,
One called Org unit Hierarchy Organization Structure ( Root ) and I need it to display it to the HR user by mapping it to HR role, in the authorization Tree I make it as Green color and mapped it to the HR role.
Second one called Org. unit Company Structure (User Record ) and I need it to display to the Manager user by mapping it to Manager role, in the authorization Tree I make it as Red color and mapped it to the Manager role. (working fine).
When I log in as Manager I can see the Company Structure org chart, however when I log in as HR it does not shows me the Organization Structure, it shows me only Company Structure org chart.
I’m not sure where to check more, any directions are appreciated.
Regard.

Hi Rami,
Kindly provide cds.log.Based on my experience this is related on new session and to many browser open the same time.
Please inform technical portal to change the IView configuration from http://nakisaportal/OrgChart/default.jsp to http://nakisaportal/OrgChart/logout.jsp .

• Org Chart

Hi,
We are implementing Org Charting and experienced problems with gettting Org Chart showing. We got the error Cannot find the root of your orgchart.
We then created relatioship 741 between the Managers position and the org unit. As a result of doing this we were able
to get the org charting working. This means that we will ahve to create rship 741 for all managers in the organisation, which
can become and administrative burden.
I wanted to find out if this is the standard way for Org Chart to work. I
Regards
Imraan

Hi Imraan,
For OrgChart the 741 relationship is not used - this is only for Succession Management. You must have done something else to get it working.
Have you performed any customizations, such as enable dynamic rooting?
What errors are in the cds.log file?
Thanks,

• Shows all Org Structure in Org Unit Listing in Nakisa Org Chart

Hi,
We are using Org Chart 3.0SP2.
The issue is when we search the Org Units in Org Unit listing it also shows other Org Units from other org structure which does not lie inside our selected Org Structure (already given the root org unit ID in Org chart config)
But i cannot restrict the org unit listing because we cannot find any option to give root org unit ID in org unit listing configuration.
How can we restrict this Org unit listing which should show only the org units below the selected org structure.
Because already several org structure exists in back-end,but we have given one org structure (entered the root id) which we need for org chart.
Thanks,
Sakthi.

Hi Sakthi,
The search uses a listing report that pulls all active OrgUnits from HRP1000. This will include objects not within your org structure. The only way to do this is to add a data filter to the search data element that filters out these objects (e.g. filter by a short code or name). Please note that you cannot filter by the key field (ID).
Best regards,
Luke

• Nakisa 4.1 - Org Chart does not display

Hello gurus,
I do have an issue with our fresh implementation of SOVN 4.1 (Org Chart, Build 0911012400, SAP_live build). I did set up the authentication to Logon Screen, and configured the org chart settings (very basic). I did not set up any Role mapping. My connection strings all have the same parameters, including the RFC username and password. They all test succesful.
When I log in the frontend, I get the famous message: "Cannot find the root of your orgchart. The orgchart box may have been deleted or
incorrectly specified, or no valid org structure can be found for the selected effective date. Please change the root of the chart or select another effective date. "
I did a capture of the log, and there is an error in the RFC wizard code, it seems:

Hi Matthew,
How about the directory search function ? Does it work ?
I would follow below troubleshooting steps.
1. Validate If Transport Pack and ABAP Add-on are installed properly
2. Restart the Nakisa application and check
3. Check If User ID has correct authorizations in SAP
4. Check If Data is correct
5. Do the RFC trace

• Org Chart 3.0 : Nationality View - Country Flag missing

Hi,
Version: Org Chart 3.0
My client is a global company with many employees with different
nationality. In Nationality view, most countries flag were not available. I checked the folder (OrgChart/image/country). Apprarently, there are only about a dozen flags. This doesn't look right. Any advise?
Thanks.

Nothing stopping you adding your own images to this folder. In fact the better way would be to create your folder below the root folder in your build.
.system/admin_config/BUILD/.delta/root/images/country
This will ensure that it is protected in an upgrade.
Alternatively raise an OSS issue to get images included for all of us in future releases.
Or do both!

• Nakisa Org Chart Admin Console query

Dear Experts,
We're currently using the Visualization Solutions by Nakisa 4.0 SP1. I've recently been doing some tinkering in Nakisa Org Chart Admin Console. My query here is regarding the Data Center Options tab therein.
Upon clicking the Data Connections I'm directed to the Manage Connections screen. I would like to better understand the impact that changing the connection strings in the 'SAPConnection' and the 'SAPRoleMappingConnection' will have on the application and the admin console. 'SAPConnection' and 'SAPRoleMappingConnection' are both SAP connections.
So far I'm able to decipher that the Org Chart, Listing and Chartbook tabs inherit the changes made to the connection string in SAPConnection but I'm unable to understand what impact will this have on the application itself.
Also, it would be greatly helpful if you could provide me a link to some documentation regarding the Nakisa Admin Console and some standard implementations for the same.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Best Regards,
Mayank

Maynak.
You won't see any immediate change as AdminConsole is a tool that loads the configuration into it, but must then write it out and publish it for it to take effect (users may also need to close browser sessions and log back in to see the changes). Changes are usually applied (you make the change), submitted (set as ready for inclusion in the build), saved (configuration files containing the changes are saved to disk) and published (put live for the end user). See the Admin Guide and the articles I referenced for some further details on this.
You say you made changes. Did you publish them and have the users login again? If not then you would not expect to see any change for the users. If you did change it, are you sure there is a difference in the structural data? If there is a difference and you did not see it, my next question would be is this a staged solution? i.e. is the SAP data extracted to a database and then the visualisation occurring from that data store? If it is then you would not see a change until your next extract run and then only if you also changed the SAPExtractorConnection.
With regards to "tentative errors", once you publish your build changes assuming your connections are good (and there are options to test the connections) then you shouldn't have any errors. However depending upon your precise configuration you could get an error As an example, you could get a situation where the chart is configured to put the users in at their own org unit as the root of the chart and if they don't have an associated position then they could see an error message. If you have a particular issue that you cannot resolve then your best option is probably to search this SCN space and if you cannot find a solution, post the details of your issue to this SCN space in a new thread. Perhaps use Welcome and Guidelines for Posting Discussions - Please Read Before Posting! as the basis for what you might include. Some of the points in it may well be/have been relevant to this discussion.
In the instance you refer to, nodes are multiple instances of the application. If you have a very large organisation then you may need to host your application and load balance it across multiple instances on multiple servers. If you have only one instance of OrgChart running, you have just one node and so don't need to do anything other than publish in this one place.
Regards,
Stephen.

• Not able to view data in Aria People search Org Chart

Hi,
I have uploaded my data into aria_tmp_people, aria_people_a & aria_people_b.
While doing the search from Aria poeple, the uploaded data is not displaying in org chart.
Your help is highly appreciated.
Thanks
Aneesh

Hi Aneesh,
First be more clear about Aria Application. As Aria, is been related to an hrms part of an organization carrying the people infomation and it has some separate features too.
But in your prespective i couldnt able to understand what do you want to do with that packeged application.
Since you want to customize the aria application according to your organization needs means, First collect all your necessary organization information that is needed(like tables etc.). Then substitute those (i.e) your organization tables in the appropriate places in the form of query.
Please dont use the same Aria people table, as the Oracle may framed according to their employee information. Nearly Aria application has 200 supporting objects. If you want to use the same objects means whether u r going to creating nearly 200 supporting objects..It is not worth at all.
Please be more clear in your requirement that, what you are doing, and then raise the question. Be more prepared with your tables along with datas, and let give your reply once you were been prepared with your organization details table.
As there are more peoples in the forums to help you other than me.

Hi,
In Org Chart, after we click on the Org Unit, then the details will be displayed on the right panel.
We clicked on the Action button on the right panel, and click on the Org Unit Profile, a new window will be opened.

Hi Luke,

In Print preferences, Size is set to A4, Landscape, CM. The rest are all unchecked and Export settings are all enabled.
Am I missing some setting to cause the error?
Regarding the file SettingsResources.xml, it's encrypted in our .delta folder but it's decrypted in Admin_Config\SAP_DB2

• Hiding/Removing field in a standard Detail view Org Chart 3.0 SP2

We are trying to remove or hide a couple of fields from the details at the position level in the admin console for the Org Char application and cannot seem to find this in the Details designer. We were able to do this for the Org Modeler, but the screen in the details designer doesn't seem to have this functionality in the admin console of the Org Chart application.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jacques

Hi Jacques,
There are 3 things you are trying to do here:
1. Change Location caption
2. Change Location field logic for data retrieval
3. Remove Mobile number and Fax number fields
Each of these has completely different methods and some are easier than others.
1. You need to change the caption for Location field. In the Caption Editor in the AdminConsole you need to change the caption key Field_Location.
2. I'm pretty sure this comes from a Nakisa BAPI and therefore cannot be changed. The alternative (and complex) methods are to either create a NakisaRFC function to extract this data or (for better performance) create a BAPI that extracts all data for that section of the details panel with your "new" Location field. These would be the same process if you wanted to add an entirely new field.
3. You should comment out these fields in the 75927beffed94564bef6af9d3045757e fieldset in the detail data configuration SAPPositionIncumbentsDetailsConfig_Data.xml.
Best regards,

• Org Chart Shapes are no longer recognized as org chart shapes by Visio 2013

I created an org chart in Visio 2013 by importing data from Excel. It generated the org chart properly. I then began cleaning up (i.e. Best Fit to Page, changing layouts on pages, changing size & spacing) as need to be visually more
appealing. After cleaning up many pages, Visio no longer recognized the shapes on the page as org chart shapes. This now causes the 'Best Fit to Page' feature to display a msg stating "Add organization chart shapes to your drawing, and
try again." It also causes the 'position' (employee) shapes under a 'manager' shape to no longer move with the manager shape when the manager is repositioned. This is now true for all shapes on all pages in my org chart. Can the
shapes be fixed to go back to being recognized as org chart shapes?

Hi,
If you want to show the pictures in the Organization chart, we need to add the photo the display
fields. Please try to do the following steps:
Create a new Organization chart> Organization Chart Wizard choose information that's already stored in a file or database> Choose A microsft Exchange Server directory> Select Photo and add to display fields> Choose the information which you want
to show> I want to specify how much of my Organization to display on each page > Choose the team

• Adding a new variable to Org Chart

Good Day Experts,
I am a begineer on Nakisa and have referenced the Nakisa OrgChart Administrator Guide. I have a requirement to modify the Org Chart, with the default view for Manager. The users want to see the Cost Centre as well along with the current details already displayed i.e. Org Unit Name, Manager Name and Manager Position. The current view template used is OU_Manager_4L. We need to add cost centre to the display along with existing fields. The standard data element already has cost centre available.
Is changeing the style sheet the only requirement to add the new field. We have done that for groupou_manager_c4f0c2cd93064be and it is placed in the delta folder. We have also modified the XSL to change the window length and width which now works. However the cost centre field is not visible. The issue i have is there is no mapping available for the Cost Centre field when i look at the view mapping. There are 2 questions which i am not sure of
1. The template has only display for 4 fields, does that mean the template needs to be modified to add a new field for display.
2. Is there anyother option to add an additional display field and would that be a correct approach given that the view designer wont show the mapping option for the field.
Also if there is any reference available where a template is modified, if anyone can share the same it would help.

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the response, i believe we have tried that. The XSL has been modified to both add cost center and change the box length/width. The cost centre bit has been adapted from the cost center xsl as you mentioned. The file has been deployed in the .delta folder.
We can see the change in the box width/length but no cost center information is displayed, the cost center is dispayed however in the details section, which proves it has a value. I have amended the CC to external variable, variable mapping section and displayNonMultiManagerOu template which gets called from icons-display for HTML display and flex-display template sections. Not sure if i have missed anything.
The only reason why i thought this was a template issues, was because i mapped the Cost centre data on the view configuration to manager position field on the template and it showed up the cost centre. So i would assume that the mapping has more of a role to play here, correct me if i am wrong.

• Options for presenting photo's in Nakisa 3.0 Org chart

We want to add employee photo's into the org chart in Nakisa but currently do not have photo's in SAP R/3. Is this a requirement before Nakisa will display these or can they be accessed by Nakisa if they are stored on a networked server for example with a specific naming convention?
Secondly to get org modeler working I believe we need to activate business function HCM_TMC_CI_1 and add an additional MS SQL, DB2 or Oracle database must be used for this to work. Is this correct and will activating the business function cause an issues with any implemented functionality?
Many thanks for any assistance

Hi,
We use Nakisa 3.0 staging the data from SAP. As our photos are not stored in SAP either, the extraction logs consist of lots of entries where the system is unable to retrieve the photo, as below:
WARN com.nakisa.Logger - com.nakisa.integration.sap.SAPConnector : HRWPC_RFC_EP_READ_PHOTO_URI : AbapException with these parameters: PERNR=00000006, DATUM=20101116, TCLAS= - ABAP Message: INTERNAL_ERROR
We have tried placing photos with <pernr>.jpg in the default installation directory of Images/Portraits/ however these are still not displayed. My assumption is that in order for these to be displayed the URI field on the EMPPHOTO or PHOTOURI field on the POSITIONEMPHIERARCHY table, or some other tables must be set to a certain value.
Any thoughts on this?
Regards,
Grant Stevens
