Orientation for photos on iPod

My iPod photos seem to be locked into portrait view. I haven't used it much, and not for a while, but I thought as I turned the iPod around, the orientation changed to landscape. It doesn't now.  I have synced them from my mac.
Also, when I attempt to sync new photos, I don't get the option highlighted to only download "Selected photos" so it attempts to sync the entire collection which is huge.

Is your screen locked in landscape mode? Copied from page 27 iPod_touch_iOS4_User_Guide
Lock the screen in portrait orientation (iPod touch 3rd generation or later): Double-click the Home button, flick the bottom of the screen from left to right, then tap lock icon
The portrait orientation lock  icon appears in the status bar when the screen orientation is locked.
Did yo try to delete the photo cache and try to sync photos after that? Photo Sync creates iPod photo Cache

  • ?? re using IPOD Classic as backup for photos while away on vacation

I bought an 80GB IPOD Classic primarily as a backup storage device for photos while away for 3 months. I have copied about 4 g of songs onto it (using my main computer and ITUNES) and now plan to use it to back up photos using my Laptop (which doesn't have ITUNES on it).
I realize that I don't want to use the ITUNES Photo Sync as I will be using it on two computers and it will erase and sync the new photo files so I plan to copy and paste the files in using Windows Explorer. I've done a couple of tests and all seems fine - using Explorer I copy Pictures Folders into the IPOD and I can see the files, open them, delete them, etc - and they're the correct size.
My question is this - I can't seem to "see" the photo files on the IPOD itself - when used as a storage device can you not see the photos? Is there another menu I can't find?
Also - I checked off the "Enable Disk Use" and "Full Resolution" in ITUNES - maybe that's not necessary as I'm not using ITUNES for the photos?
    Thanks for any help

You can't "view" anything on your screen that is added to the iPod when using it as a storage device, in the same way that you can't play songs added in that mode either. You can only access those files through Windows Explorer (or Finder on a Mac), you can only view or play anything added through iTunes.

I have set up iCloud for my iPhone, iPod, and macbook but photos and music are not downloading...
ICloud preferences have been checked, photo stream enabled on iphone-- what's missing?

The version that came with Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 and says Version 14.0.7106.5003 (32 Bit) and the e-mail I have set up as POP / SMTP.  Thanks for your reply.

  • Does the iTouch use the EXIF Orientation info for Photo Rotation?

Just got an 8GB iTouch. Adobe Photoshop Elements and other programs I use on my computer use the EXIF rotation data in the jpg created by my Canon SD500 camera to correctly orient the photo on my computer. The iTouch apparently does not. This seems to be a big missing item. I would not want to have to rotate portrait photos before sending to the iTouch! Orientation data has been used for years. Am I missing some setting or did Apple miss this feature?
So basically, landscape photos come up ok, but portrait photos come up 90 deg rotated. Then of course when you try to rotate the iTouch to see it correctly, the photo rotates another 90 deg because of the built in iTouch sensor. Very aggravating.

    OK...

how can i set the orientation for a photo book (horizontal or vertical)
I like a photo book vertical format and i cant findet!!

That was quick! Although my earlier search turned up nothing, when I posted my question the system immediately gave me a list of previous questions among which I found the following answer:
This solved my question by LarryHN on Aug 18, 2010 6:01 PM
select the photos and change the date/time - photo menu ==> adjust time and date to make a relative adjustment to a number of photos ==> batch change ==> time and date to set an absolute time date for them

  • How do you send photos from ipod to photo website (i.e.Kodak) for printing?

How do you send photos from ipod to photo website (i.e.Kodak) for printing? I'm copying all the photos from my PC to my ipod (to free up hard drive space on the PC). Once I do this, how do I use the photos on the ipod, i.e. printing, emailing?
    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that you'll have to transfer them back to your hard drive to print or email them.
Also, do yourself a favor: back up you photos.

  • Auto Rotate Disable for Photos ....... Sort-of ..... Trick / Tip

I have many photos and many are in the wrong Rotation in my Ipod and wanted to disable the Auto-Rotate feature but no luck since Apple forgot to Add the feature to turn it off.......(STUPID APPLE) but no worries, Apple will add it to a future update and charge you for it!.
But I have found an easy way to show off my photos in the right orientation and disabling/tricking the feature momentarily and Here is how I do it:
Open the Photo you desire that has the wrong orientation.
Hold the Ipod/Iphone in the orientation where the Photo is in the right Position,( i.e: if your photo is in landscape while holding it in the upright position.).
All you have to do now is, with two fingers touch and hold near the bottom of the screen as close to the edge of the Ipod/Iphone as you can, so you can still see 95% of the Photo and then Rotate to the right orientation and there you go! your photo remains and does not Auto Rotate, keep holding until you have shown the photo to your friends.
All this does is to freeze the photo, simply put, it is thinking you are either enlarging or going to the next photo, it doesn't disable the feature it is simply waiting for you to make a decision.

As of 10.1.2 we no longer talk about "auto-rotate and center". Page scaling for 1-up output is always registered to the center point, and the new dialog only refers to orientation.
Ultimately of you want a page to be printed at 100% physical scale, you need to supply users with a PDF that has the correct paper size and margins wide enough to stay within their printer working zones. In that case, the setting for scale and rotate is meaningless, as "fit", "shrink" and "actual" will all equal 100%. If the paper size matches, rotating a page has no bearing on the X/Y position - it's there to handle cases where the document is portrait but the printer tray is landscape, or vice-versa. If for example you open a US Letter portrait page and "force" it to print in landscape to a printer with a portrait feed tray, it is not rotated and squished into the middle of the page - aside from coming out the machine sideways it'll look no different.

  • Delete photos from iPod Touch

Need some help with this PLEASE!?
I added some photos on my ipod touch by iTunes, & now I want to delete them but I don't know how. I tried to delete them on my ipod but I couldn't because they are in a new album & they also exist in another album on my ipod. The album names are: Photos & 2011, & when I tried to delete them on my ipod I couldn't there were no delete button.......What do I do???
    Because I need MAJOR help!

On the iPod you can only delete photos taken by or saved to the iPod.  Those are the photos in the Camera Roll.  For photos synced to the iPod you have to unsync them.
    RedHamstar wrote:
Are you sure there was no delete button. Is there a section under the photos when the album is open which looks like a box and an arrow coming out? If so click on it and then it is possible to delete the photos. Subsequently just go on itunes and when the ipod is connected go into photos, and simply choose the folders.

  • How do I delete photos from iPod Touch?  Some photos do not have the trash basket option!

How do I delete photos from iPod Touch?  Some photos do not have the trash basket option!
When I first synced my iPod Touch with my laptop, it uploaded a lot of photos onto the iPod.  I now wish to delete those but it does not seem as a straight forward option!

For photos synced to the iPod you have to unsync them:
To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.

  • Ipod - Delete photos from ipod

How do you delete photos from my ipod?

    Hi Golf43,
You are in the wrong discussion forum. Go here and choose the correct category for Windows and your iPod model.
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=146
I can tell you that on the Mac, you would take out the images on the folder of images you are syncing to, then sync the iPod to that folder again.
So, if you didn't want any photos on your iPod, take out all the images from the folder on your HD that you are syncing to. I am not sure, but there might even be a checkbox in iTunes/iPod prefs to uncheck for photo sync.

Hi, we have three iPhones and iPods which are currently linked to one apple ID.  I have now set up an apple id for each phone/iPod.  How do I go about re-directing the two accounts to the relevant one that has now been set up please?  I could do with a step by step guide to follow as am worried about loosing aps, music, photo's etc which are on the individual phones.
    Thanks
    Mandi

On each of the phones you're gonna use a new Apple ID for iCloud: turn off Contacts, Calendars, etc. for iCloud. You'll be prompted to keep the data or delete it from the phone, then turn off iMessage, FaceTime & delete the iCloud account...Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Then, setup iCloud using the new Apple ID, turn on iMessage & Facetime.
This will have no affect on the ID you share for iTunes content, & you can continue to do so.

  • Is it possible to "partition" Iphone or Ipad when syncing?  What I would like to do is set up Itunes to use say 15GB for photos 15GB for music and 15 GB for video.  Any help would be appreciated. Thx

I am using a Widows 7 PC with the latest Itunes.  I would like to alot hard disc space on my 64GB Ipad2 as follows  15GB for music, 15GB for Video and 15GB for photos. I would then like Itunes to autofill from my PC. Can this be done? The same question also applies to my Iphone4. Thanks in advance

To my knowledge the iPod can only be used as a secondary monitor since you have to boot up the Mac and turn on the secondary display. You would still need a KB and pointing device for the Mac
However, you can log into the Mini from an iOS device like an iPad using app like LogMeIn, GoTo MyPC or TeamViewer on both the Mac and the iPad. You use the touch screen on the iPad for all control of the Mac.
As you said, that would be tedious for a lot of typing but you could use a BT keyboard for the iPad.

  • When I import photos taken from my Ipod Touch 4 to My Mac Desktop, I click delete photos on ipod, but they do not delete. Is the only way to delete them individually (I have 1,400 photos!) or is there a way to delete them all in one go?

I realise you can you can delete them on your ipod slowly as you have to click on each one, and you can restore your ipod, but surely there is a way to get around this?
    Software: 4.3.2
    Build Version: 8H7
Thanks If anyone can help me.

Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

  • Is there any way to transfer photos from ipod touch (2nd generation

Is there any way to transfer photos from ipod touch (2nd generation & OS is 4.2.1) to PC? I am struggling a lot. The OS cannot be upgradable beyond 4.2.1
I am wondering if there could be many other ways to transfer the photos like:
    1. with the help of any android app
    2. ipod touch to iphone/ipod latest version
    3. any 3rd party free softwares (there are paid 3rd party softwares but I dont want to invest)
I did try some of the options:
    1. I could emailed only 6 photos in one email (I have almost 800 photos and would be time consuming.
    2. I'm trying to access my google account on my ipod but it keeps coming up with "oops! your browser seems to have cookies disabled..." My cookies are not disabled. Safari is the only browser for ipod touch and could not be able to installed not only any new browser but also any iphone apps. Updates for the existing apps not possible at all. So this option of uploading the photos on google drive is ruled out.
Anybody is there to help me out? Sorry for such a long inventory.
    Thank you!

If they are in the iPod' Saved Photos album then:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
If they were synced to the iPod you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView

I created a book in iBooks Author using the Photo Book template. When I rotate to portrait orientation, the photo or widget disappears and a table of contents appears with only the interactive media showing.

Thanx for the prompt response, KT. I have indeed seen that thread, only just after I posted the question.
I have spent hours on the phone with what I now know is a call center in Texas on this question.
I think Apple could be a little more "hands on" with iBooks Author users, and it should also be pointed out that landscape photos will not display in portrait mode.
In my case, I used gallery widgets to display vertical photos, since they look better in portrait mode.
But instead of simply rotating, the page disappears and a TOC of interactive media appears. The gallery behaves as expected when tapped. This is not what I expected, but since the gallery works, I can live with it.
Right now I have "tickets" telling me to "fix" this "problem or to disable portrait mode.
I don't want to disable portrait mode.
Will Apple accept the books if I tell them this is not an "error?"
