Orientation is messed up

Not sure what I did to cause this - Illustrators nudging now nudges in the wrong direction - and when I try to type freely, it goes at an angle? It's as if the canvas is the same but north has moved?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Ah, sorted it. Preferences > Constrain Angle.
Sorry for posting stupidly
Thanks for your reply. Figured it out myself then realized you'd answered.

  • Orientation. Lock is messed up

My orientation is messed up since OS upgrade.
    Sup?

What do you mean by 'messed up'. Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If there is, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via Control Centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). The function that isn't on the side switch is set via control centre instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Review Widget Error with Portrait Photos

When previewing my review widgets on the iPad, all of the questions with photos in portrait orientation are messed up even though they look fine when viewed in ibooks author. Even when I delete the photo completely and just have the words, it is still goofy. However, the landscape oriented photos and questions are all normal. In fact, so far all of the other multiple choice formats seem to work fine.  Is there anyway to fix this without having to use all landscape photos?

The error still shows up even when exporting it as an ibooks file and syncing with iTunes. In fact, the book behaved as if it was no different from the preview book keeping all of my notes and even opening to the same page I had bookmarked in the preview version.

  • Cannot locate Burner Software

Ok. So, I installed new Itunes...Now, it says "Registry Settings used by Itunes driver for importing, burning are missing. this can happen as a result of installing other CD Burn Software. Please re-install Itunes"
Here is what I have done so far:
(1)I used Microsoft Fixit for my CD Drive. It has now made my drive invisible to Itunes and Roxio.
(2)I removed both Itunes and Roxio software and reinstalled. Still cannot locate CD/DVD Drive.
(3)I tried regedit that Apple suggest, however, I do not have files UpperFilters and Lowerfilters on the screen. I followed all 10 steps and its not there.
    Anyone have any ideas?

no I didn't see the upper / lower, I am not computer oriented to mess with the regestry, I am amazed apple have not said a word about this update, it sure makes you think about buying thier products in the future, but then again all the big companies are now the same way, take a look at the Blu-ray nonsense in the last couple of years with firmware updates every month just play a movie!

  • Photo orientation in pictures app messed up after ...

    Hello.
First of all kudos to Nokia for creating such brilliant devices. My Lumia 900 has been performing well for me, and it's a fantastic phone.
But there's a problem with the orientation of my photos after I plug my Lumia into my PC. Most of the pictures appear to be rotated sideways, (90 degrees both clockwirse and anti-clockwise), while some maintain their original orientation
Is there any way to correct this, and is anybody experiencing the same problem or is this specific to my phone? It's getting rather annoying.
    Thanks in advance!

hmm sounds as if the hackers are trying to hack the Mac OS to do what they do with Windows: get into all the applications that involve communication with 3rd parties (Mail, AIM, Skype) so that they can use your computer to propagate illicit messages that then use your contacts to spread the virus to everyone you communicate with. Etc., etc., etc.
For now, it would seem that this process is being blocked as soon as it hits your computer but it's worrying to see that people are trying it.
The only damage is your messed up Mail app.
One way of fixing it, if you are running Time Machine, might be to go back to where you were before the jerk hijacked your friend's AIM account. Or if you have a clone that goes back to before that time, to start up from the clone and then clone back to where you were before this happened.
You could also try re-installing Mail.
The suspicion remains that even though your own system may not have suffered any permanent or serious damage, you may now inadvertently be passing on a virus to others....

The orientation is fixed the wrong way on my ipad air2, the orientation lock is off, turning the screen does nothing. Turning the orientation lock on will make the screen flip rightside up and then turn upside down immediately. It stays in portrait mode at all times.

  • Importing photos into Camera Roll with wrong orientation

I have been using Olympus OI-share app to import via WIFI the photos from my camera (Oly EM10) into ipad mini retinas- saving into the Camera Roll successfully. However ever since I have upgraded the IOS (may or may not be the cause), when I import the photos, the orientation of the photos were messed up, specifically Portraits are being saved as Landscape. It used to work fine but its a consistent problem now and affects all the portraits I have recently taken. I have reinstall OI-share app and that didn't help. I have tested the same app on iphone 5S and it is working perfectly. The problem seems only to appear in my ipad mini.  I am not sure if there is a settings somewhere that affects this.  The problem is made worst as even after I use the ipad photo edit function to change the orientation, this does not change the orientation of the same photo in my photostream.
Anyone whom has any experience/idea about this - please help!

    Try
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause
iTunes for Windows: Device Sync Tests
Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem
If you have Win 8.1 and the problem started after updating to the latest iTunes version then you seem to be out of luck since there are problem with the latest iTunes version and win 8.1

  • How to print envelopes with correct orientation?

    Hi all,
This one has been driving me mad and, despite many searches for help, just can't find a solution. As someone who knows their way around most IT related problems it is also very frustrating!
The problem: How to print a DL envelope using Pages (or Word come to think about it) so that the text is positioned on the envelope where you would expect it to be.
Printer: Epson Stylus Photo R800 - although I would guess this happens to any printer.
Tried: I have selected the DL Envelope setting in page setup (11x22cm)and selected landscape. The envelope is positioned in the printer so that the smaller side goes in first (too wide to go in the same way a page of A4 would go). If I select print then the address details are printed at 90° to the envelope. If I choose portrait then the whole thing is messed up with the text flowing down the page (which is now shown as 11x22).
Strangely, if I do this in Word but go to Print Preview first then print it is fine.
Best option for me is to use Address Book though and click on the 'Orientation' tab, select the landscape option and everything is OK. Pain to have to use this each time I an envelope though.
I have tried everything in pages including leaving the page set to 11x22 and trying to rotate the text but this is messy and have not found an easy way to rotate text in Pages as yet!
Has anyone a solution to this or am I simply missing something that is glaringly obvious?!!
    Thanks all, Mike

It's really easy and it's perfectly described in the Help in the chapter entitled: *Flipping and Rotating Objects*
Create a Text Box (which is an object).
Type what you want in it.
Metrics Inspector > use the rotate button or enter directly 90 in the Angle field.
We may also do that without the Inspector.
Select the Text Box Put the cursor on the top_right handle
Press Shift + cmd while we drag the handle to rotate once of 45°
    Repeat the process 45° + 45° will give a 90° rotation.

  • Lost reverse page orientation in page setup in CS2 going from 10.4 to 10.5

I do a lot of hi quality printing for CDs & DVDs using Photoshop CS2. With OS 10.4.11 in page setup from the file menu, I had three icons (for landscape, portrait, and reverse portrait). Now with 10.5.8 - I have only two.
Some programs like Preview have a box to check for "reverse page orientation" in the "page setup" menu or in the print submenu for "layout", but not CS2. (Preview prints to fill the page not to accurate size)
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a secret way to bring up the reverse page orientation option that I just haven't discovered?
This really messes me up for precise double sided printing - and it makes me wish I'd stuck with 10.4.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

See my new question (July 2011) and replies re this matter.
BDAqua came up with the answer, which is to save a reverse version in Photoshop of the images to be printed reverse, and then those images directly in the usual portrait setup in the printing dialogue. This way, I won't be dependent on having a reverse image orientation option in the printer setup. (lost for Photoshop CS2 in OS 10.5)
Again - I appreciate the help.

  • Creating a email extension for ios... it keeps flipping the orientation of the app when closing.

I know, if I need help I should go post on some apple board... but it's information overflow.... and I am not 100% sure it's related to the extension.
    Here's the problem
I am creating/using an extension to open the MFMailComposeViewController.
Now, I figured out how to open it and force it to landscape, but the problem is  when I close the email it, my app flips upside down. (landscape left when it was landscape right before, or vice versa)
My app is set to force landscape left and right... and the mail controller does open in landscape... but it's either upside down (landscape right, when the app is left, or vice versa) or when it closes, it flips the application the other way.
Has anyone encountered anything like this and ideas on how to fix it?
My app publish settings, I set to landscape, auto-orient is set to false and it's full screen,
However, on start up in code... I am setting stage.autoOrients = true and then using the CustomOrientation.as to control the rotation (to force landscape only)
in my extension, I am showing the MFMailComposeViewController in the
    [[[[UIApplication sharedApplication] keyWindow] rootViewcontroller] presentModalViewcontroller:mailCompser animated:NO];
and mailCompser is a subclassed MFMailComposeViewcontroller object and I have set it's override to this:
    @implementation MailCompose
    -(BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientati on {
        return (toInterfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft || toInterfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight);
When I launch my app, it starts
    stage.orientation = rotatedRight
I then launch my extension and the email page for ios appears, in the correct orientation.... if I rotate the device, both the email and the app rotate to rotatedRight or rotatedLeft correctly.
I then click Cancel, delete draft
The email window disappears, but now my screen is landscape left.... if I wiggle the device, the sensor picks it up and then rotates the app back right, but this is a major problem.
I am thinking it has something to do with the rootViewController orienatation, but I don't know enough about objC and xcode to know what to do.
I have tried googling and searching will little to no luck... but then, the answer could be staring at me and I would have missed it as I am an obj c noob.
Anyone know how I can fix this?

    Hi,
I had the same problem and found the following workaround: apart from overriding MFMailComposeViewController's shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation, I also added implementations for
    _preferredInterfaceOrientationGivenCurrentOrientation
    and
    _isSupportedInterfaceOrientation
in a category of UIViewController in the native code.
Then, in the Actionscript code, added an event listener for StageOrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGING (with high priority and use_capture = true) in Actionscript to prevent resizing of the stage, which can occur even if the orientation doesn’t change.
This fixed it for me, but, as it messes with UIViewController, it makes it tricky to have views which have different orientation behaviour (if you want one view to be able to rotate in all directions, but others only to support Landscape, for example).
I've posted details and example code here: http://blog.diadraw.com/native-extensions-for-mobile-air-apps-getting-round-the-orientatio n-issue/

  • Photo Orientation Incorrect When Viewing MobileMe

I've tried to find a solution to this by searching other posts. What I've found is this is not a new problem. I have two AppleTVs and I have the same problem on both units.
But this is the real oddity. The photos not only display correctly orientated when viewed through a browser on both a Mac and iPhone (as well as the MyGallary app), but they also display correctly on AppleTV when previewing (as they carousel) while in the applicable onscreen navigation menus, and when they are displayed as a screen saver set to "Floating". However, if directly viewing in slideshow or when the screen saver is set to "Slideshow" the orientation is all messed up. And the current photos I'm view where also all taken with an iPhone and uploaded directly to the users MobileMe account.
And on top of all that, when I viewed the first 4-5 photos on AppleTV (now up to 15 photos) they displayed in the correct orientation. Now some of those that did display correctly are messed up.
How can the preview and floating screensaver correctly display the photos, they have a wrong orientation when in slide show. Again, this is on two aTVs. Seriously, there have only been Apple devices and Apple services used - this is should not be happening.
I've have this problem in the past on both aTVs, but the pictures where taken with a Canon and uploaded to mobileme from an iMac. I figured it was a minor inconvenience and that Apple would resolve this in subsequent updates - this was over a year ago.
The only thing I've tried to do so far is to delete the user's MobileMe account and then re-added - nothing corrected.
Oh, and the software is up to date on both units.

Updating the information regarding photo orientation with AppleTV screen saver.
Clear instructions: Click on photo in iPhoto, then go to File, choose 'Reveal in Finder', select 'Original File'. A window opens up where the original photo file is held. Open the photo in Preview. Rotate photo as needed. Close and save. You are done. Restart your AppleTV and turn your photos on and off to share in iTunes. Ta Da, it all works and it's very easy.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Portrait orientation not recognised in Older iDVD project

I have posted some of these symptoms in various places, but I have had so many issues with this upgrade that I haven't had the time to thoroughly address each on in detail.
I upgraded ti iLife06 over the weekend and now an iDVD project that I started in iDVD 5 is significantly "messed up".
Firstly, it cannot find the images in the new iPhoto Library's new paradigm for folder management. So I have to locate these manually. I have tried to point iDVD to both the "Modified" iPhoto Library folder and the "Originals". Not sure which is correct. (I know that some have advised duplicating your old iPhoto library and pointing iDVD 6 to the "old" version)
Second, after manually locating all of the photos included in the iDVD project, iDVD does not seem to recognise that some of the photos are Portrait orientation. These were automatically rotated by my camera and imported into iPhoto accordingly.
Does anyone have an idea why iDVD 6 cannot do this AND how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    J.E. Flynn

  • Orientation is never right.

I shoot with a Nikon D80. I really like iPhoto BUT.....
    Big Problem.
The Orientations look right when viewed at a certain enlargement (when the photos are small) As soon as i begin zooming in to look at a specific photo iPhoto will rotate the images horizontally.
It is very odd, I try to compensate but its like the program just doens't know the orientation. If I double click and image and view it orientation is right. It really slows down the program and is very annoying to preview and edit photos.
any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Steve

It sounds like your thumbnails are a little messed up. When you view your photos in iPhoto, its actually displaying thumbnail images it creates when you import or edit the photos. It keeps different size thumbnails for the various zoom levels used to view the photos. I suppose it does this because its much faster to display the thumbnails that the fullsize photo files scaled down.
The problem you probably see is some of your thumbnails didn't get properly updated when the photo was rotated. So when you view those thumbnails, things look wrong. The only way to fix this is to rebuild your thumbnails.
To rebuild thumbnails, quit iPhoto if its running. Start iPhoto while holding down the command and option keys on the keyboard. A "Rebuild Photo Library" dialog box will open. First try the first option to rebuild the photos' small thumbnails. If this works you're done. If it doesn't, you'll need to try the second option after restarting iPhoto again with command and option keys held down. This option can take a long time depending on how many photos you have which is why you may not want to select it the first time.

  • Editable form text editing messing up the whole form

    Hi All,
I've created a fillable form in Acrobat X but at the end, I realized that I left a spelling mistake. Now when I try to fix this mistake using Edit Document Text, it changes the orientation and alignment of other fields around it causing messing up the whole form. Can anyone advise any solution. I can provide the form to you to have a look or correct it for me if someone can kindly. Please advise as this is urgent and this form needs to be delivered ASAP. Please see the screenshot below. I need to correct the spelling of Blocked which is written as BOCKED without changing other formatting of the document. Thanks in anticipation!

    Hi @Gilad,
Thanks for the suggestion but this file was originally created in Word and after conversion to PDF, I've made a lot of radio buttons, check-boxes in this file which I certainly don't want to redo. Now if I convert this page back to Word and edit this single word, then it means that I would have to create all the radio buttons, check boxes etc again which is time consuming. Any help if I can just correct the spelling of this single word without changing the formatting of the fields besides it?

  • IPhoto MobileMe uploaded picture orientation problem

Hi, I scanned a number of old photos into iPhoto and moved the photos to upright orientations (portrait and landscape). I then organized them under a single event and published to the MobileMe Gallery. Once uploaded, however, the orientations of some of the photos are all messed up, unlike the ones displayed on iPhoto. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    Then re-publish the gallery.
    Regards
