Orientation lock - iOS8 & iPad 2

After upgrading my iPad 2 to iOS8, the orientation is stuck on portrait mode.
I've turned off the orientation lock, done a hard reset, but no luck..
Anyone have a solution to this?

I Have this problem on my iphone6 since i updated to 8.1.3
Camera doesnt go in to landscape when i turn the phone, so all
the pics in my gallery are saved in portrait. Wich is realy annoying since i do alot of photo editing, i have to manualy flip every pic when i want to use it.
Same with internet pages, videos in youtube, texting,... No landscape at all!
Is there a chance this will be fixed in the next update or should i just take it to the store to let them have a look at it?

    Where on earth us it?

Oops, sorry, found it. I you set the "Use slide switch for" setting to A, Control Center will display B, the other option. So, the OP has it set as I do.
When set to Mute, CC changes to:

  • The orientation messed up on ipad air2, orientation lock is off

The orientation is fixed the wrong way on my ipad air2, the orientation lock is off, turning the screen does nothing. Turning the orientation lock on will make the screen flip rightside up and then turn upside down immediately. It stays in portrait mode at all times.

    landscape not portrait mode

  • Is their an orientation lock that prevents me from using the iPad Air2 horizontally

How do I get my iPad Air2 display horizontally?  I read somewhere that there was an orientation lock but can't find any further information.

Strangely Enough though the iPad air 2 does not have a side switch.
So Mute and Rotation lock are both now managed from the Control Center at the same time

  • Android orientation lock does not work within the ADPS App

    Hi,
and another Android App Bug for today. The Android orientation lock feature does not work in Apps created with ADPS. If orientation lock is enabled and I turn the tablet, the orientation off the ADPS Apps will turn with the tablet.
My Test Tablet is an Acer IconiaTab A510 with Android 4.0.3
    Kind regards
    Yves

When you say that the orientation lock doesn't work, we have no way of knowing if that means that the screen is locked in one position only, or that it will not lock in one position only. So try something g very basi and reboot your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
In the camera app, you have to swipe up and down on the screen to move between photo, video and the square photo mode options, so are you even in the correct mode to take videos?

  • Orientation lock on the iPhone 6+

is it just me or does anyone else find it very annoying that orientation lock only works on portrait on the iPhone 6+?
Apple has acknowledged that this device is somewhere in the middle between an iPhone and an iPad by offering the expanded landscape app views, I think allowing for locked orientation in landscape should be allowed under the same rationale:  there is enough screen real estate to reasonably assume a lot of people are going to be using it on landscape the majority of the time.

Make sure that you have not turned your "Do Not Disturb" on.  This will have a quarter moon icon.  Hope that helps.

  • Orientation lock

I am used to using the silent button as orientation lock, however In ios7 I do not know how to change this setting. I am aware I can lock orientation by swiping up, however I prefer using the switch on the side of the screen. Does anyone know how to change this setting? I am using iPhone 5 with ios7
    Thank you

The switch on the side can only be configured as a rotation lock on the iPad. That is not (and to the best of my knowledge never has been) a feature of the iPhone.
    Best of luck.

  • Screen orientation lock

I have not screen orientation lock but in this place I'v a volume mute. Whats going on?

I post this quite often for users that lose system sounds but it relates to the screen lock as well. Read this and the link I post at the end.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Orientation Lock Button

I've noticed that when I switch the orientation lock button it mutes the ipad rather than locks the screen. What is going on with that and how can I fix it? Has anyone else had that issue?

*Assuming you have the most recent update*
Double click the home button & you'll see your most recent apps pop up in a tool bar at the bottom of the screen. Slide your finger left to right to scroll to a quick settings toolbar, this is where they moved the Orientation Lock; The icons from left to right should be Orientation Lock, Brightness Bar, |<<, >, >>|, Volume Bar and finally iPod icon.
    Hope this helps

  • Volume switch and orientation lock

Just got my iPad 64GB today (sent from US to UK) - everything was packaged right, all still; sealed and safe additional packaging via FedEx - all working great apart from the volume and orientation lock - neither seems to do anything - anybody else experienced this??
With it being a US iPad, it's not realistic for me to send it back, so I will have to wait until the UK ones are launched I assume!?
Anything else I could be missing somewhere?
    Adam

Just spoke to Apple support in the UK, and the woman I spoke to said that they would not support it here since it was US bought!!!?!?
I mentioned the 'international warranty' to her, and she was rather officious and told me that it did not apply?!
I realize they don't have them here yet, and now they are going to be even longer, but wha...?
I had apple repair my us bought PowerBook without problems, so why should this be any different - my instinct is that she doesn't know what she is talking about to be honest, and her only solution was that I should ship it back to the us! - I was kinda hoping they'd deal with that given it's their product that is faulty!!
    Not impressed.

  • New place for screen orientation lock

Apple has changed the screen orientation lock button to a mute button. To lock your screen orientation just double click so your in the multitasking menu slide left and on the far left is the screen orientation lock. If you ask me it is kind of a stupid place and I hop apple switches it back.

  • HT4085 How do I lock my ipad screen so the swipe action and side button on screen don't work? My cats do these things and the game disappears.

How do I lock my ipad screen so the swipe action and the side button on the screen do not work?  When my cats play a game on my ipad, they regularly swipe the screen and push the side button and the game disappears.

The button on the top that you use to lock and unlock or put to sleep is the power button.  The button lower center of the screen is the home button...can be used to also wake from sleep and switch to the base home screen.
Good to hear you are now able to lock rotation, even if you are not sure how you did it
If you go to the iBook icon, tap Store in the uppper left side of the screen, you can search for the iPad User Guide...a free download that will place the guide in your iBooks library as a great source of background information.
