Orientation of iPhotos photos in Web Gallery

Does anyone know why it is that when I upload pictures from my camera to iPhoto, create an event and album, rotate the pictures that are not upright, and then publish the event/album to Web Gallery that the pictures that I rotated in iPhoto are no longer upright in Web Gallery, but back in their original orientation as in the camera?
Many thanks!

  • Using a shared photo in Web Gallery

My wife and I share a computer and we each have a .Mac account. However, all of our pictures are in iPhoto under her login.
I would like to publish a Web Gallery using my .Mac account and photos shared from her iPhoto library.
However when I include a shared photo in the Web Gallery it imports it into my iPhoto Library, giving me two copies of the same photo, one in her iPhoto library and another in mine, thereby duplicating the photo which is not what I want.
Is there a way to use a shared Photo in Web Gallery and maintain the relationship to the original photo and not duplicate the picture?

    Roger
No, because as far the the Mac is concerned, it's not yours to Share until it's in your Library.

  • Uploading photos to web gallery.

I am thinking of a full subscription to .mac and have been viewing the online vids.
One of the videos was promoting the benefit of uploading the photo from an iPhone, and the screen clearly shows 4 choices when you're in Photo.
    The 4 choices are....
    Use as wallpaper
    Email photo
    Assign to contact
    Send to web gallery
The problem is that my iPhone (on the latest sofware release of 1.1.4) does NOT have the 4th option 'Upload to web gallery'.
I have phoned Apple Tech Support but he was of no help whatsoever.
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS 4TH OPTION ISSUE?
    Thank you.

You must have a .Mac account set up on your iPhone. That’s the trigger that tells the iPhone to show the Send to Web Gallery button when you tap the Send button when viewing a picture.
Next, you must have iPhoto version 7.0.1. The version of iPhoto that ships with iLife ‘08 is version 7.0. Use Software Update to obtain 7.0.1 and update iPhoto.
Finally, in iPhoto create a Web Gallery. When you click the Web Gallery button, be sure to enable the Allow Photo Uploading By Email option.

  • Brigde CS5 in Windows 7 64bit - drops out photos in Web Gallery preview

Is there a limit to the number of photos that web gallery will display?  I created a web gallery and then started over again as instructions I read stated that I should put the TITLE on each photo.  Once I put the title in, out of 24 photos that use to display, only 20 now display.
Can someone explain why this is happening?  I haven't even gotten to the point of trying to embed in my website yet.  Perhaps Bridge isn't the best tool to use?
Thanks to anyone who can offer any insight as to why this is happening.

And right you are!  After posting this message I started reading through all the help files and finally did find the same answer.  Now my problem is the linking as I have a very strange hosting set up.  Two sites, same directory.  So all my images have broken links.  Something new to work out!
    Cheers!

  • How to view photos on Web Gallery?

So, on TV I go to Photo> .Mac>Web Gallery>then I type the web gallery web address (not easy with the remote)
I tried a few times, I get a message saying that Tv can't find it. Same web gallery works fine on my Mac.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    F

Props for figuring that one out. For those who stumble on this post -- use the .mac user name without "@mac.com" -- just the user name itself.
    Thanks

  • Added photos in web gallery synced back to iPhoto?

when others add photos to my web galleries, i can't find where they are synced back to on my mac. For example, if I publish an event "Beach" and my friend adds a picture taken from her camera to the web gallery, it does not sync back to the original 'beach' event in my iphoto library....instead its saved to an unlisted '2008' - 'originals' folder in iPhoto. Is there a way so that if someone adds a photo to the web gallery it will sync back to the original event folder that the web gallery was published from?

You're not neurotic MJM80, This problem drives me nuts.
I created a web gallery album through ME.com from my office computer. The album shows up in iPhoto under MOBILEME GALLERY on my Mac at home but it does not create an album or even in iphoto that corresponds to the web gallary album. The photos only exist in the web gallery they are not transferred to my iphoto library at all. Very annoying.
Anyone who has an issue with this should post it in the discussions and send feedback to apple. MOBILEME GALLERY sync should work in both directions.

  • IPhoto doesn't bring in new uploaded photos from web gallery

Published album to web gallery; had folks upload pics to that one; auto-sync into iPhoto worked fine. Updated OSX to 10.5.3 yesterday; had more pics uploaded from folks to the web gallery; iPhoto is not syncing anymore. Running latest upgrades. Suggestions (besides rolling back the upgrade)?

Well, tried Disk Utility to repair permissions after the upgrade and that solved the issue somehow even though it didn't find issues related to iPhoto.

  • Photos in Web gallery too dark

    Hello,
I just updated to the new iLife.
I tried the new Web Gallery function and the photos are too dark compared to the view in iPhoto.
Same happens with galleries in iWeb.
    What's wrong?
    JO

There is a color problem when publishing pictures from iPhoto 06 and 08 (as well as when e-mailing a picture).
The problem being that the images are published with their original color profile, whatever that is. Further, if profile is missing in the image in iPhoto, the profile will be missing in the output. (BUT iPhoto displays correctly in case there is an EXIF tag specifying sRGB).
The result is that colors will not be displayed correctly on the WEB (or in e-mail clients), more or less depending on OS platform. This applies both to images and their thumbnails.
    Compare the iPhoto album http://www.tomasjonsson.eu/IPhotoTests/
with an album with correct colors http://www.tomasjonsson.eu/PictureSite/Albums/Pages/PreAndPostProcessed.html
In Safari, only IMG_9465 and IMG_5182 will show a difference - since those are the only images without a color profile. However, in other MS-Windows browsers, most images will be displayed incorrectly.
Note! Most digital cameras produce images without at color profile but with an EXIF tag. In iPhoto:Preferences:Advanced choose Embed ColorSync profile, which will add a profile corresponding the EXIF tag. However, the images that you have already imported will not be fixed.
Note to Apple: Show EXIF colors space and embedded color profile in Info pane. Add command - ASSIGN profile. And in export dialog - add option Color Space.
    HOW IT SHOULD BE
Images on the web (and in general also e-mails) should be published in sRGB color space (otherwise they will not be displayed correctly in browsers on the MS-Windows platforms, with the exception of Safari, viewing images with a color profile)
Images should have a color profile, in particular the sRGB images (otherwise they will not be displayed correctly on the MacOS platforms. Maybe close to correct if you have calibrated your monitor to PC-gamma)
Actually all images should have a color profile, period. If the image does not have a color profile, it is just a pile of randomly colored pixels - to be interpreted freely by any displaying device, which they do.
For a demonstration of profiles and WEB see: http://www.gballard.net/psd/golive_pageprofile/embeddedJPEGprofiles.html
However, DO NOT follow this guys advice of omitting the color profile for WEB publishing because of overhead. The overhead is less than 1% of a high quality image. (I measured 0.5 - 2.5 kByte)
    WORKAROUND
After exporting from iPhoto - use Photoshop and CONVERT TO PROFILE all images to sRGB color space. Save file with color profile.
Note, make sure that images without original profile are treated correctly (most often they are sRGB, check the EXIF tag with Preview application)
Note, apply also conversion to thumbnails.

  • Keeping photos in web gallery

I would like to delete photos from my iPhoto storage but do not want the deleted from web gallery. Is this possible? Everytime I try, the web gallery in iPhoto syncs with the web gallery on my .mac account. Maybe there is someway to stop the sync for that particular gallery? I don't know how to do this.

You could create an iWeb photo page with those photos and once published delete those photos from your library. The web page would have a URL address just like the web gallery does only the iWeb page has a little more pizzazz than the web gallery.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Uploading photos through web gallery not working.

    People
When people access my web galleries and use the upload feature and it accepts the uploaded files, but, the photos don't appear in the web gallery or get synched to my iPhoto. However, using the upload feature through email does work!
    Any ideas on that?
Also, once synched with web galleries on my iPhoto, how come the photos don't automatically appear in the event that the person uploaded the photo to in the fist place? The photos appear in the event under Web Gallery on iPhoto but not the actual event. Does that make sense?
    Cheers
    Al

    Same prob here (EU).
Looks like uploading through the web interface (while browsing the web gallery) doesn't work.
    E-mailing a picture works a treat, though...
Tried also using firefox (I'm on a MBP with all the latest software versions) but no luck!
I've looked also at the contents of my iDisk (it had to be in the loop!) and indeed found that the web gallery is under <.macmember_name>/Web/Sites/gallery/<id> and every picture that's in the gallery has its own folder named after the picture name containing 5 files: *large.jpg, medium.jpg, web.jpg, square.jpg and reflect-medium.jpg* (their meaning is quite obvious...)
The pictures I sent through the web interface didn't produce results in my iDisk whatsoever, while the one I sent using mail had this new folder-files created in the right way...
I think this upload feature is seriously flawed...

  • IPhone problem with iPhoto 08 and Web Gallery 08

I have created web photo galleries in iPhoto 08. Then I have opened iWeb08 and created a page an added a web gallery widget for each of the galleries on this page, everything works fine. Now I fire up the iPhone and go to my iWeb page where the widgets are located.
The problem is the web gallery widget appears on the iPhone screen as a blue cube with a question mark on two sides and some round grey circles on top. I can not access the galleries from iPhone. Are these cubes a representation for some program that the iPhone can't open? Any help is appreciated.

I'd post your question in the iPhone forum because it seems to be an iPhone issue rather than an iPhoto one.

  • Can I put iPhoto slideshow on Web Gallery?

Our school is using iPhoto 08 and a .mac account to post pictures on the Web Gallery. While we are very satisfied with the formats allowed by Web Gallery, we'd like to put up something more in the style of the SlideShow feature in iPhoto, i.e., Ken Burns affect, music, etc., but I don't see a way to do this. Rather than give up, I thought perhaps someone might know of way to put the Slideshow on the Internet.
    Thanks,

Yes, you can add a QT movie file to an iPHoto Web Gallery. However, I would suggest you reduce the size of the file before importing into iPhoto and the gallery as they can become very large and very slow to load. QT Pro can do the job as well as VisualHub and some others. You might want to post over at the Quicktime forum on the best way to reduce the size and keep good quality. QuickTimeKirk is the reigning guru over there (IMO). Lots of smart QT users there.

  • Captioning and Keywords NOT retained on download of photos from Web Gallery

I noticed that the CAPTIONING information for photos on a web gallery ARE viewable while on the web gallery page(clicking on info), but are NOT included if you choose to download the photo. Not seen in the photo on download by viewing EXIF info, or "get info" from the Finder, nor available if I reimported the downloaded photo back into iPhoto 8.
Am I missing something regarding the way to store information. I had uploaded a lot of photos with important information for family members downloading embedded in the captioning??
BTW, the keywords ALSO were not downloaded or retained.

    Scott:
When published to a web gallery that information is not added to the file but to the slideshow files. The only time that info is written to the files is upon export with the checkbox selected to add Title and Keywords and Comments.
Even if the metadata is written to the files at the time they are imported into iPhoto, the files that get uploaded to the iDisk have that metadata stripped out of the file.

  • Number of photos on web gallery, error

    Hi:
    I have a question about my web gallery ( http://gallery.mac.com/carjrol2 )
The counter that indicates the number of photos i have into my gallery is wrong it puts that I have more photos than really I have
example in my logos gallery it puts that i have 42 photos and i only have 14 photos.....
How could i resolve this problem???

Are you using the latest update - 7.1?
When I went to 7.1 this happened to me. after a day I forced one gallery to sync and next time I looked everything was correct again
Verify that the web gallery album in iPhoto has the correct number of photos and force a sync 9click on the little brodcast icon ot the right of the gallery name and hopefully that will corrct the count in your online gallery
