Origin of the Firefox logo

Hi, I'm a fan of Firefox and this is not an issue as such, so apologies if I'm wasting anyone's time!
I'm a designer, so I couldn't help but notice the similarity between the Firefox logo and the Moon. I flipped a picture of the Moon horizontally and as far as I'm concerned they're an almost perfect match, the lighter area to the Southeast (bottom and right side when flipped) is very similar in shape to the Fox, the darker lunar mara defining his outline.
Only problem is my friends think I'm nuts for thinking they look similar! Can you please kindly confirm if the Moon was indeed an influence on your logo?
Please reply, a pint of beer may be at stake!
Kind regards,
Anj Avraam

I'm not sure what sphere that is. This recent article links to some of the earlier history: [https://blog.mozilla.org/creative/2013/06/27/a-new-firefox-logo-for-a-new-firefox-era/].

  • How do I remove in the upper left corner the Firefox logo which is followed by text describing the web page. Want to declutter the screen and gain space.

Right above the Menu tool bar, (File,Edit,View, History, etc.), in the upper left hand corner is the Firefox logo followed by text..as I'm typing this, it reads "Ask a Question|Mozilla Support-
Mozilla Firefox". Since I already use the Navigation tool bar, find this information redundant and most important want to regain some real estate on my small screen by removing it if possible. Thanks.

  • How do I get the top bar back that shows page description and the Firefox logo?

The bar at the top of Firefox that appears on every program above the menu bar is gone.
As in, the bit that normally displays the page title, and the firefox logo. It now looks indistinguishable from Chrome. I'm not in full screen mode.
When I click and drag firefox to the top of my screen to snap it to my monitor size, the firefox logo and the title are shown for the instant until it snaps, but as soon as it snaps it's gone (and generically everywhere).
I want to be able to see what browser I'm in at a glance, and see the title of the page I'm on. How can I resolve this?

You can find the button to enable the window title bar at the bottom left of the customize window.

  • I have tried to laod the newest firefox 13. on my imac, 10.4.11. but after it down loads I get the firefox logo with a circle & white line over it, {?}

once the download is complete I do NOT get the firefox logo. The logo that appears on my desk top is an alias.

Unfortunately, Firefox 13 does not support Mac OS X 10.4. [[Firefox no longer works with Mac OS X 10.4 or PowerPC processors]]. The link I gave gives some possible solutions (as you have a PowerPC mac, you can't update your Operating System either unfortunately).

  • Why do I get a spinning black circle on Firefox tab instead of the Firefox logo?

Since downloading Firefox I am having about 50-50 percent success rate of reaching the website I enter or click on. About 50% of the time the site loads just fine and about 50% of the time the site won't load and I get the ever spinning black circle on the left side of the tab where the Firefox logo usually is. In the instances where the site doesn't load and I get the spinning black circle if I go back and forth 3 or 4 times or hit the "x" and refresh button in the address bar a few times I can eventually get the site to load. Another odd things is lots of times when I do finally get the site to load I still don't get the Firefox symbol on the tab, I get a spinning green circle instead. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Firefox new homepage is ugly without the firefox logo and too complex to adjust

The original Firefox homepage: http://www.google.co.uk/firefox keeps telling me to update when it is up to date. The new one: http://uk.foxstart.com/?rls=en:uk:zz is unacceptable because it is ugly and shows no Firefox logo. Your original young fans are now getting a bit older; haven't the time to keep changing the appearance of their homescreen. Aren't you becoming obsessed with the medium at the expense of the message?

You may see that erroneous update message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. It appears that page is no longer being maintained by Google. You appear to have the latest Firefox version.
'''If you want the Google search page as your home page,''' change your home page to '''''about:home''''' (a new, updated version of the old Google/Firefox home page is now built-in to Firefox).

  • I used to be able to see each website I had open in the taskbar. Now, whatever setting I try, all I can see is the Firefox logo.

Hello. I have switched laptops to a Windows 7 refurb. On my old computer, when I had any window open in Firefox, I was able to see the name of the site in a small block in the taskbar at a glance without hovering. For example, when I had Facebook open, the block/tab said "Facebook" and I was able to see if I had any notifications. (The pages were not pinned.) Now, all I can see for any window is the Mozilla logo. I have tried all kinds of settings on Firefox as well as in Windows for tabs, etc. How can I see each window "in miniature" before?
I also cannot see the "Firefox" dropdown menu in the upper lefthand corner of the window when it is fully open. All I have is the Mozilla logo, not the word "Firefox" with an arrow.
    Many thanks for any help!

    Got it! Never mind! :)

  • Why doesnt the firefox logo stay in my dock?

firefox logo disapears from the dock for no known reason

    I have several thoughts:
    1) When you drag an application from the Applications folder to the Dock, you aren't "removing" it from anywhere.  You're just making a specialized alias in the Dock.
    2) I've never heard of anyone creating an OS X user name (if that's what you mean) like you describe.  Is that what you mean?  I'd avoid creating an OS X user name with special characters.
    3) To try to keep that Time Machine icon in the Dock, launch Time Machine, then click-and-hold on the Time Machine icon in the Dock, then when the pop-up menu appears, roll up to "Options", then over to "Keep In Dock".

  • In what Firefox call their "awesome" bar or address bar the firefox logo is in grey. Should it not be shown in color? How to fix?

In all the examples I have seen, the "Awesome Bar" has a colored Firefox logo followed by the site address. This is below the Open Tab area the line above. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. Running Vista.
Should it be a colored firefox logo or is it not installed properly?

The screenshot that you are referring to may be from older Firefox versions.
Current Firefox versions show a basic globe (Site Identity Button) for normal http connections and show a padlock for secure connections with no mixed content from an http connection.<br />
You can click that padlock to get more information about a secure connection.

  • Firefox opens with two homepages, my original PLUS the Firefox has installed update tab.

Seems my original homepage is no longer working, so want to change my homepage. Firefox does not remember me putting in the new homepage and continues to open with the old, original homepage plus the Firefox update page. Weird, doesn't do this on my computer that stays at home. Help?

Thank you very much, I will give that a try! :)

  • I tried to download firefox, but the homepage is now all blank except for the browser bar at the top!? Normally the firefox logo would be on the homepage, along with the rest of the homepage designs. Whats wrong?

When I downloaded firefox, the firefox home page was all blank, except for the browser bar at the top of the page. Normally, the logo would be on the homepage, in the center. Also, the other designs along both sides of the page are missing! What is wrong? I've tried at least 8 times to reload firfox to see if maybe it didn't load properly, but the same blank homepage appears! Can you email me with an answer please!?!? Thanks! Sal Cannone.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
