Original Audigy card good for recording? Noise issu

Does the original audigy card carry the same Noise Ratio as newer cards do? I have just recieved one of these for use in my home recording project, and the noise level is VERY high. I'm pretty sure it is not an enviromental issue either. Please help me out.

Hi!
You can't plug your bass directly into your card because of impedance mismatching; your bass is at instrument level while the soundcard has line-level inputs. The bass expects to be plugged into a high impedance (Hi-Z) input. A card's line-ins are usually around 10K ohms - too low for instruments like guitars which typically require 500k and above. Direct plugging will only result in a thin sound and low level which easily distorts when you try to crank up the gain.
Check if your practice amp has a line out or DI out as previously suggested. Bear in mind that this is mono signal so you may have to route that to your mixer before going into the card. If you want to bypass your amp, you will need a DI box that will convert the unbalanced output of the bass to balanced; it will also match impedances going into the mixer's balanced (XLR/mic)inputs. Plus, the use of a balanced cable from DI to mixer will provide a degree of noise cancellation and you can use relatively long cables. Best of all, the DI will retain the tone of your bass.

Some Internet providers that limit access to a single device at a time do so by the device's hardware MAC address. If your ISP is one of those, you may be able to substitute the MAC address of your AirPort Express base station for the computer. I would suggest that you contact them to find out if this is allowable.

  • Can I begin service with $100.00 card good for one year and what are the usage terms?

Can I begin prepaid service with a $100.00 card good for one year and if so what are the usage terms?

Yes; phone is for Verizon PREPAID plans. Sri I did not state that correctly. I see that there are prepaid plans with monthly usage etc. I see some offers on line for a $100.00 card that's good for one year.  Trying to determine if that is available from a Verizon store to begin a new plan. Checked with two different Verizon stores and got two opposite answers and neither was sure of the terms. Simply trying to get a low cost backup. Thank you for responding.

  • GT 70 missing graphic card and constant fan noise Issues

Not even sure if this is the correct place to post this thread if not could someone move it to a different section.
So today for some odd reason my laptop decided to freak out on me. I get a bluescreen saying VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE, I have GT70 NVIDIA GTX 675m I was doing a scan on my computer and the lower right hand corner it said Application has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware. So before it kept saying that over and over again. The computer basically just lagged out and I did a hard shut down to turn it off. I turned it back on and it started up to the BIOS for some unknown reason I didn't press any button so then I go over to Save & Exit and it said do you want to save the changes, I said no and it started up again to the desktop but very slowly.
Then my desktop finally shows up but now I hear what appears to be my video card fan or the fan that turns on when you are overclocking or just when you hit the fan button on the keyboard constantly running. I am freaking again myself because I don't want this laptop to die on me. My NIVIDIA card is no longer even showing up on the taskbar, even when I go to control panel I click on the NIVIDIA control panel and it doesn't even come up. So I try doing a system restore, after it restarts the video card is showing up I do a couple of restarts to get things back in order again. Even the fan is no longer blasting like before which puts me at ease.
I go to watch a YouTube video and then the video freezes then in the lower right hand corner I couldn't see what it was because it faded away something about the video card crashing so then after it crashes my fan starts to go off again and I am freaking out again. I tried to do another system restore but it seems that it's not working any more. Is my video card dying or do I need to install new drivers for it.
How come it's no longer showing up on my device manager? Did it die or something?

It has been acting very strange today. I turned it off last night and went to sleep, woke up a couple of hours later to turn it back on and it went to the desktop very slowly but my GTX 675m card showed up in the display under device manager also the fan was working normally like it usually does and not constantly going. I was sort of shaking my head not understanding how it showed up again.
So I took it into a computer repair place to see what they might make of it. Won't get any word until tomorrow or Monday to see what it might be, strange enough when they booted up the system at the computer place it booted up quickly and he told me that the GeForce Experience thing opened up and all that. But I don't really trust the laptop, I told them I would still like for them to check it to see if my GPU is really dying. They said they will run some tests to see if it's a hardware problem or software problem.
As for buying a new GPU I am not sure i want to pay that much, is there something more cheaper that might be better than 675m? I keep hearing people saying how bad the 675m is and how NVIDIA does not care much for that particular card. Also my 2 year warranty for the laptop just expired in January and I have no idea why this always happens to me once the warranty expires something wrong happens, not sure if it's a coincidence or just bad luck.
Guess I will see what happens when I get the computer back from the repair place, paid $89 dollars just for them to check it which they say is a lot better price than Geek Squad cause they would have me paying $200. Ugh! This crap makes my anxiety go sky high. Hate to lose my laptop, I mean it seems to boot up to the desktop but that stupid cooler fan going full blast is what concerns me.

  • What are multiple video cards good for?

Yeah, I know it is probably a dorky question but I would certainly like to know the answer before I start pricing my future Mac Pro. What I'm thinking about is online gaming stuff (which I'm just getting into so I'm still a little clueless). My question is:
Are four GeForce 7300 cards better than one X1900 for gaming/graphics?
It sounds like from the other posts that the X1900 is the superior card. Am I reading things correctly?
    Thanks,
    Toast
    867 MHz G4 Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

One advantage of multiple video cards is monitor calibration. When running two monitors off of one card, it's simply not possible to (accurately), calibrate both screens. Altering the video LUT of the card to dial in one monitor will affect the calibration of the other.
On my previous G4 system, I ran two screens from separate cards (two CRTs - different makes and size). With hardware calibration, I was able to get them to match perfectly. On my Mac Pro running the same screens from only one card, I can get them close but not perfect - more importantly, I have to decide which monitor is to be properly calibrated.
Not particularly important for gaming performance but there you go ...

  • Is this graphic card good for After Effects Cs6 or superior?

    Quadro K620 2GB DDR3
and if yes, if i buy two of them could i use them at the same time?
Here there is a link to the description (not sure if i can post it)
    NVIDIA Quadro K620
If not which one do you recommend me. My budget is arround 200-400€.
    Thanks in advance.

As Todd stated, After Effects offers little if any GPU acceleration. Instead, it relies heavily on the CPU and RAM.
With that said, Quadros are severely overpriced and underperforming with regards to most other applications including Premiere Pro. You see, the Quadros K620 is essentially a GeForce GTX 745 that I had warned a couple of people against: It is yet another "crippled" version of the first-generation Maxwell (GM107) architecture, with only 384 CUDA cores (for comparison, the GTX 750 Ti has 640 CUDA cores) and uses lousy DDR3 VRAM with a throughput of only 29 GB/second (versus the 750 Ti's GDDR5 VRAM and 86.4 GB/second memory throughput). Plus, Adobe CS programs in general are sensitive to the GPU VRAM throughput. In a word, the K620 is just plain lousy compared to consumer GPUs that cost one-fourth as much.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cheap Audigy SE for Recording with a Microphone?

Would the Audigy SE work for recording guitar? Is it a full duplex card? (i.e. can I record a track in a multitrack program while listening to another track?) Every store you go, its the same 4 cards available- Audigy SE, $30; XFI Music, $70, XFI Gamer, $100; XFI Fatality, $130. Apparently you can't buy a nice simple Audigy 2 with nice simple inputs anymore...now its the "FlexiJack"...

Can you hear the sound? Perhaps it is recorded at such a low level that you can't see the waveform. Try raising the audio gain of the track. The best solution would be to sort out the recording levels.

  • Credit Card payment for Apps in China

I am trying to buy a Chinese Apps with an international credit card. Card good for 15'000 use credit and apps worth 25 rmb. All details filled out correctly such as billing address, security number etc. but purchase is always rejected. Anybody know if you need a Chinese Credit Card to buy a Chines Apps ? Maybe this another new govt. regulation ?!
    Thanks for any help

You may only buy through the iTunes/Mac App Store for the country where you legally reside. You must use a local credit card issued by a bank in the country where you reside that has a verifiable billing address in the country where you reside.

  • Firewire 800 External Hard Drive recomendations for recording

Ok so I posted a week or so ago about a bad experience I had with a firewire 800 external drive. Anyway, Im sending it back and getting a refund but I wanted to confer with you guys about a good, but cheaper (under $100 please) firewire 800 drive thats good for recording to. This will be my recording HD. Can anyone recommend some for me? and shooting a link to a place that sells it would be appreciated! ..and the more recommendations the better

Hi Veena, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
And you've tried choosing the volume and pressing the "Mount " icon on the tool bar of Disk Utility?
Have you shut down your Mac and disconnected your firewire cable from both ends and let it sit about ten minutes then reconnect and try. Also, it is important to disconnect the AC power to your Mac, this helps to reset the FireWire port(s).
Do you have TTP or DW, both of which you could use to try to mount it.
It is also possible that you have a bad cable or a bad port, do other FW devices work?

  • Anyone ever tried to use an original airport card in an emate 300?

I know it sounds crazy, but I am attempting to think outside the box and save money.
Lemme know what you think of my crazy idea, please!

The original Airport card may look like a PCMCIA card, but it is not. It won't work in a slot that was not specifically designed to accept it. It doesn't even have a built-in antenna.
Also, I suppose that it would save money if you already have one. But those original Airport cards sell for $40-50 on eBay, including shipping. You can get an 802.11b wireless PCMCIA card on eBay for less than $20 including shipping. You'd make some money if you sold the Airport card and got a generic card that is known to work in that slot.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook card , Recording Noise from Rec out on Peavey Amp Mixer Co

I have tried a ground loop isolator but still have noise, Any suggestion. I have it hooked up via the line out of the peavey and using Line in on the Audigy

Ok, so I go to Creative Device Control, and on the PCI/USB tab I've changed the sampling rate to 48khz.
    It was previously at 44.kHz
The bit depth is still at 6bit
Now the problem seems to be solved.
The problem was only with the output from the device. And now there are no skips!!
    Excellent!
Why has that solved it though?
I've read on other forums (head-fi) that the audigy cards do not run at 44.kHz nati'vely so the sound has to be downsampled.
Is that skipping an artefact of that downsampling process?
Will having that set at 48kHz, but recording to a 44.kHz 6bit wav file theoretically reduce the quality of the recording - compared to having it set at 44.kHz and recording a wav at 44.kHz?
On the SPDIF tab the input sample rate is shown as 44.kHz - as that's what is output by the DAC in my minidisc deck.
But when I changed the sampling rate on the PCI/USB tab, the SPDIF output sampling rate also changed to 48kHz.
This means if I wanted to record from the optical output, whilst also recording to the computer, and that device only supported 44.kHz - I can't do that?
You listed some main reasons to the truth, why Creative SB cards are not very popular on serious use (DAW). I.e. need for resampling. X-Fi's in creation mode are (least said to be) the only ones not resample everything.
There is a setting for "Bit-Accurate-Recording" (digital modes only) --> have you tried if that works on your recordings?

Howdy.  I keep getting a message stating that my apple ID has been disabled.  I recently contacted my CC company, AMEX, for several fradulent iTune charges, which is probably where the problem first originated.  How can I resolve this issue?

I had to dispute several unauthorized charges to itunes. My apple id was disabled after that. I followed jarnoldus's (older post) advice and it worked. Im duplicating his entry here with a few modifications. I hope this works for you.
    1. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com
    2. Choose your product (mine was ipad)
    3. Click the "iTunes, App Store or iBooks" icon
    4. Click "Apple ID account security"
    5. Type in "apple id has been disabled"
    6. Choose your country (mine was US)
    7. Choose the "talk to apple support now" option
    8. Provide the info they request (name, email, phone number)
    9. They will call you right away.
Explain your apple id has been disabled. The rep will connect you to an iTunes rep. He/she will look up your account. You will be required to answer your 3 security questions. You MUST get a minimum of 2 correct. If you succeed they will enable your id. Good luck!

  • Is the X-FI series good for Midi recordi

Before I spend a lot of money I would ask the forum what for a card is good for Midi recordings and has good piano samples. Additional I have a new motherboard (Asus M2NPV-VM)?with two PCI Slots only. Therefore I have no chances to change the slots due to IRQ problems. Therefore the card should be full PnP and WIN XP compatible. The old one shared the IRQ with the USB controllers or the on board grafic card (Can you recommend a X-FI card? Thanks.

All I can find is "Bit Matched Recording"
Basically I do not want the X-fi to touch any of my audio (and no I am not using a receiver).
I have the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.
For example, if I am listening to a source playing at 4400kHz, 6bit, then I want to hear exactly that.
Think of it another way. If a video source image is 800x600 and I have a 920x200 monitor, I do not want to scale the image to fit 920x200. I want the image to appear at the center of the screen with black bars on top, bottom, left & right sides. A : pixel for pixel image. I would also be using DVI-D so there is no Digital to Analog conversion. Make sense now? I am viewing the source as intended.
Now help me with : audio. I do not believe this is possible with Creative's current cards from all the articles and tech info I have read.

  • SB Audigy 2ZS Plarinum Pro: setting source for recording

    Hello!
I am having problems setting the source for recording. I want to set the recording source from 'Wave' (default) to 'Line-In /Mic'. After doing so with the mixer or the MediaSource Player it resets to 'Wave' after some time. Why? Can I force the software to make 'Line-In /Mic' the default setting? It really dri'ves me nuts to see that the source has changed without me being notified. I want to have the source changed only by myself and not by some cozmic radiation, God's will, voodoo magic and whatnot.
    Greetings
    ClustalW

<Re: SB Audigy 2ZS Plarinum Pro: setting source for recording? Okay ClustalW, I understand the "Default" problem you are having. So can you go to control panel, and sound and there look at your recording devices and tell me what do you see? If your desired device is there, you can choose it as the default and then throughout the rest of windows, this will be THE global default recording device or the first choice, when you are in other programs to record from. Also, make sure your device is plugged in when making this change. On my system with that board, a few years ago, I could make the choice, but it would always pick something else when the source was unplugged. For example, if I were using the front bay inputs as recording, when I would unplug them and reboot, my system picked the next thing as default.
Next go into to your Creative Control panel and do the same thing there. Theoretically your choices should be linked, but this is not always the result. I can choose mine in Vista and windows 7, but lastly I always go to the Creative mixer applet and do it there and that works best. For me, my default is my front panel Mic or Microphone FP but as soon as I unplug it, it wants to make my back mic jack the default.
