Original driver disk for lenovo hardware

calling the support today, i could not believe the lonovo does not have an original driver disk for their hardware they are selling, and i dont mean the recovery cd that has an os on it. every other hardware manufacturer that I know of provides original driver disks; lenovo seems not to care.
for the stuff that I am doing, mostly clinical trials data analysis, i need a machine with highest level of integrity. all hell breaks loose when it later will be discovered that there was a glitch in the software/hardware. the first thing is the bios. what i need is an original cd, and original here means a pressed cd; not a burned cd, not one download over the internet, and no other amateurish solutions. i dont need the os that comes with the recovery cd, since i will be using linux (sled) anyway.
is anyone aware of where one could get such a thing, if at all?
thanks

Hi toby, welcome to the forum,
AFAIK the last T-series ThinkPads to have any cds delivered with them were the T22s, must be about what, six years ago? Since then ThinkPads have always had a recovery partition on the hard drive. It is possible to order recovery cds from Lenovo, or create them yourself, these will install your ThinkPad to factory state.
You can also find all drivers and utilities required for the ThinkPad in one folder, C:\SWTOOLS. Alot of people, (myself included), burn this folder to cds or a dvd. It does not however contain a copy of bios.
I'm afraid I don't believe such a cd exists, unless you create it yourself. (And of course all the latest drivers are available to download).
regards

  • Need Original Driver Disk for XFi Gamer

Lost my disk and for some stinking reason I can't reinstall card on computer without the Original Disk. The current driver updates do not contain the necessary software for Windows XP to utilize.

+ Pbeten, I think the v2.5.006 drivers I have been using are newer than the ones on the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer installation disk. They?have been working well?for me. At least I haven't been getting any more crashes than I have ever got from any other Creative sound card and drivers. They are good drivers. I think you can get them from the following site: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...r-250006.shtml Click the blue download button; then click the blue down-arrow to the left of "External Mirror ." It's a 63MB file. Or you could do a Web search for 2.5.0006.

My 2011 MBP has begun running slow with frequent 'spinning beach ball' events. I'm running Yosemite and wondered if I should of use the original install disk for a maintenance reinstall. I presume I'd have to download Yosemite again, though I'd be happy just using Snow Leopard again too.
    Thanks for the help.

You can create recovery disc through rescue and recovery, that's assuming you are using the factory installation, or else you can buy them from ebay:- http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-x40-system-recovery-set_W0QQitemZ290354714737QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLaptops_Nov0...

  • How to create recovery disks for Lenovo H530s with WIndows 8.1

    Hello there,
    I just purchased a Lenovo Hf30s type 10131 with Windows 8.1, mini tower: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/desktops-and-all-in-ones/lenovo-h-series-desktops/lenovo-h5...
I like to create recovery disks, but  the already installed program OneKey Recovery does not have the option of recovery disks, it allows only larger media such as USB stick and hard disks.
Here to I have 2 questions:
    1. Is there a way to create a recovery disks that will create the original factory settings with 5 partitions?
    2. Does any one knows if the recovery siskd sold by Lenovo (for Netherlands they cost between 23 and 38 Euro) would do the job by creating the factory settings with 5 partitions?
My goal is to reformat the hard disk and aprtitionig it the way I need it, but in case of anything, I would like to be able to go back to the original facttory state of the unit, especially if I have a harddisk failure and neer to replace the hard didks.
Thank you in advance and I wish you a very pleasant and successful day.

  • Maximum drive size for Lenovo 3000 N 100

    Hello,
I've done what I could this past week but I still haven't got a reliable, serious answer to this question. My hard drive died on me after the guarantee period (obviously) and I'd like to have it replaced with a much bigger drive. Will a 160Gb or 250 Gb or a 320 Gb (that's the one I'd like most) be compatible? I've been told by shops and by the repair company that handles Lenovo that I can't exchange a hard drive once it's bought and opened. However, noone has been able to tell me what size the motherboard/system will handle for sure.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue. Lenovo just replied with the official data that the hard drives below are compatible (see info pasted below) and tested by Lenovo, while the repair company said OK to a 250 Gb drive I wanted to buy.
Description  Option part number Service FRU part number Customer replaceable unit (CRU)
         60GB 5400rpm SATA HD 41N3025 92P6283 Yes
         100GB 5400rpm SATA HD 41N3026 27R2309 Yes
I'll be most thankful for your advice.

    Hi.
If you're through with your warranty, you have nothing to worry about - changing the HDD will not affect it as it is already wasted. So, you may insert any SATA drive you like - even SSD, since it emulates HDD behaviour.
All systems that do not recognise HDD's over 137 gb were lifetimed at 2005 as far as I remember.

  • Is it possible to upgrade on a new HD without original installation disk?

My situation is a little complicated.
I've had my MacBook Pro for almost three years. For the past few months, I've been having some problems with a very loud droning, buzzing sound coming from the lower-right quadrant. I can only use my computer for a few hours to watch or edit videos before it starts making this noise and I have to shut it down. I posted about this a couple times before and the only response I got was that my hard drive probably needs to be replaced. So since I, nor anyone else, seems to know what the problem is, I'm probably just going to do that. This is where it gets complicated.
My original installation disk for Tiger is, presumably, at my parents' house 1500 miles away, if it still exists at all. I want to upgrade to Leopard anyways (so I can play Sims 3), but I think that it's pretty much impossible without the original disk for Tiger. I figured I would need to use my Tiger disk to set up the new hard drive, and then upgrade to Leopard straight away. Is there any possible way to install Leopard on a new hard drive without having to buy the full system (not just the upgrade)? I was thinking I could call Apple and beg and plead for a replacement Tiger disk, but I would probably just be wasting my time.
I'm starting to think that my situation here really is hopeless and my computer will never be able to be useful to me again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the speedy reply. That looks like just what I was looking for. I'm going to go buy that right now and I hope this is the end of my searching for a solution. Thanks so much.
I have one question though (it may be stupid, but I'm not very literate on Macs): will the program back up my whole operating system or just my files? Like, will I be able to install the OS from the backup?

  • Trying to do an erase and install on an IBook with original Tiger Disk

Hi, I just bought a used IBook from a friend, got for super cheap and knew I was taking a risk since it wouldnt start up.
I'm not even sure if its a G3 or G4 IBook, its white and it all it says on the laptop is IBook Model number A1007.
Anyway, it didnt come with any disks so I took my Install disk from my G5, the main Tiger disk and ran disk repair and permissions and all of that, it didnt find any issues with the disk.
So I chose to do a complete erase and install which appeared to work fine, but when I start it up it starts the setup process where you enter in your name, address and all that and I get to the part where I go to enter my apple ID and thats right about where the laptop freezes every time. The screen kinda flickers for a second and then it is seized up completely.
any ideas on how to resolve this?
Do I need to track down an original install disk for an IBook G3 or G4 or is it the same thing as I am using now? If I need an install disk for my specific model where can I get one?
    Thanks,
    Brown.Recluse

    Hi brownrecluse;
You can't use the G5 install media on the iBook because they are hardware specific. You will need to get the retail Tiger install media to do that provided the iBook meets the mimimum requirements of Tiger.
Besides that installing again would be illegal anyway.

  • Where to obtain original disks for old iMac?

I bought a Late 2006 20" iMac, that has some issues.  The seller just sent me the unit, nothing else (no cords, disks, etc.).  So I thought I could run AHT.  I wiped the hard drive, installed Lion, but holding down D on boot doesn't do anything (just boots normally).  I guess remote AHT over the Internet is not supported on the old hardware.
I have been perusing forums (fora?) looking for info on how to get AHT to run, or how to obtain.  I copied the ".diagnostics" folder from the Apps DVD from my 2009 MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard btw) to the hard drive, but holding down D now boots recovery and only allows me to run Disk Utilities or reinstall the OS.
I called up AppleCare and they said I could buy a copy of Snow Leopard, so I got that, but holding down D while the disk is in the superdrive doesn't do anything special, just boots into the Snow Leopard install, I don't have any pulldown or other option to run AHT.
Does anyone have the original disks for this machine, who would be willing to record a DMG or ISO image and transfer it to me?  Or, how else would I obtain it?  Obviously what AppleCare sent me didn't work, and the ".diagnostics" folder wasn't on that disk (as was noted in many threads on similar topics).

FWIW, replacement discs have always been available, as long as the machine's serial number doesn't pop up as a stolen machine. AFAIK, there's no $16/disc burn fee, but just a nominal S&H charge, usually under $20 USD for the common two-disc package that shipped with Macs.

  • Request for Procedure to replace a faulty hard disk on X1070 hardware

                       Hi,
Can I get a procedure document on how to replace a faulty hard disk setup up in RAID 1+0 configuration and the applaince is setup to be part of a cluster.
    Regards,
    Many Thanks

Were you able to get the information you need on the faulty drive?  The drives are hot swappable, except on X150/X160 appliances.  Replacing the drive should automatically kick off the rebuild, and should not have any impact on clustering.
Just open a support case with TAC, and we can swap out the drive, if you are still under contract.
Incase the full KB article was reachable...
The full eKB can be found:
    https://ironport.custhelp.com/app/answers/list
The drives on a 1U IronPort appliance will no longer be replaced.  Instead, a replacement device will be shipped for any RAID issues.  This applies to the C1xx, M160 and S160 devices.
To replace a drive on a 2U IronPort appliance:
       1. While the system is running normally, unlatch the original drive and slide it out.
       2. Slide in the replacement drive and latch it into place.
To replace a drive on C170 and S170, please kindly see the below document link:
    KB article 1815
After a short time, the lights will begin blinking indicating the RAID container is being rebuilt. While the rebuild is happening, you may receive more RAID alerts - this is normal. The rebuild may slow mail throughput on busier systems, but otherwise has no effect on normal operations. This process can take a few hours. After it is completed, the RAID alerts should no longer occur unless there is a new issue.
Note: If two or more drives have failed, replace only one drive at a time! Do not replace the next drive until the Rebuild is complete. This can be monitored from the 'version' CLI command
Note: For instructions on how to return IronPort hardware, see KB article 138.
    Hope this helps!

  • Windows Vista reinstallation disks for my 7387 A11 whose hard drive died

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.  Just over three years ago I bought a Lenovo 3000 J Series, model 7387 A11.  Last weekend my hard drive began failing to the point that it wouldn't let the machine boot.  So I bought a new PC and hooked up the failing hard drive to it as a secondary drive.  With much coaxing and rebooting I managed to copy all the files on the main partition of the failing hard drive to my new PC's primary hard drive.  Yea!
But now I've bought a new hard drive to replace the failed one in Lenovo machine, and am stuck at the stage of getting the machine to recognize the new hard drive, since it has no operating system.
I read on one of these threads that one option would be to call Lenovo and ask for reinstallation disks for the Windows Vista operating system.  So I called the phone number, but the message there says that since I'm out of warranty I should try to get help on the Lenovo website.  So here I am.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks,

I tried to use the Windows Disk Management menu (in he control panel) to combine them, but that failed. I then tried again using the command line Diskpart command, but it gave an error that it couldn't merge partitions from separate disks. So is there any way to combine them back into one volume..?
Best to leave those partitions alone to function as designed.
