Original files for songs on itunes can no longer be found, please help!!
My itunes has unfortunately been deleted and the ipod with the songs/playlists is no longer with us. My whole list of songs/playlists etc are stilllisted but they are no longer playable. When I try to play a song it just reads 'song cannot be played as the original file cannot be found' and proceeds to ask me if I like to locate it. Now I would never claim to be a competent computer user (hence no backup) but I have tried searching the computer to no avail. Any help/hints/tips would be very greatly appreciated.

If you had iTunes set not to copy added recordings into its own library, then the files might be anywhere and justreferenced in iTunes. Only you could know where you put the originals, but if careful searching doesn't find them that suggests they've been deleted.
If it did copy the files but you have deleted the library from your 'Music/iTunes' folder then the songs are gone. Again, if searching produces no results then the songs would appear to be missing from your computer.
With no backups, and the songs deleted, they are lost. 'iTunes in the Cloud' might enable you to re-download songs you had purchased, but I doubt this works on Leopard, which your signature says you have.

In that case only the previous owner can unlock it, either by providing you with the account ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices (as he should have done before selling it) - please see http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4515
If you unable to contact him to do this then I'm afraid you will not be able to use the device - there is no other way of unlocking it at all.
You should if possible return it to wherever you bought it and ask for a refund as in this event the device is completely useless.

Itunes can't locate original files for songs on my external harddrive
I recently added my music collection to a new computer from my external harddrive. At first everything worked great, now when i open itunes and try to play songs that are located on the harddrive the following error message pops up "The Song "xxxx" could not be used because the original file could not be located. Would you like to locate it?" I am able to locate the files one at a time, but i have over 12000 songs. I am wondering if there is a way to make itunes recognize that all of the songs it is looking for are located on the external harddrive. Any/all help is appreciated.
1)if you have an ipod than you are in luck. plug it in.
2)go to my computer and select your ipod.
3)click on search and DO NOT TYPE ANYTHING IN OR CLICK ON ANY THING.
4)you will be on the first page with the little charactor in the bottom left hand side of the page.
5)just click "OK" NOTHING ELSE!!!!!!!!
6)then click on search
7)when it is done searching, select all your music and PUT IT IN A FOLDER. any folder will be fine.
8)select all of the music in the new folder and drag and drop it in to itunes.

Hi, im really frustrated right now, mostly because of my own doing while useing serato. But my question is how can i get back the original BPM on songs that I have downloaded from the itunes store? I accidently modified the files ID3 im guessing? please I really need to resolve this issue ASAP

Can't open pictures taken with Kodak DC290 with kdc file extension. Camera and kodak software long gone.
Looking for some way to convert these kdc files to jpeg or any format that can be read with photoshop elements.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I can't access a bunch of old song files. any new cds are available to me in itunes. all others are not accessible. how do i merge the new cd's with the old ones so that all the songs are playable in Itunes. thanks.

I'm not so sure... I've never run across this particular error (my library is stored on my internal hard drive, but copied to an external for backup purposes with an application other than iTunes or Finder. I don't think Apple will provide acknowledgment to issues experienced only by very small numbers of people... I'm one of those, perhaps foolish, individuals who allows my computer to download updates immediately, rather than waiting for fear of problems, and again, I've never had this error.

i cannot seem to find where the original file for tracks that have been imported from a cd are kept because they are not in the itunes folder, however the song is somewhere as it does show up on spotlight search and plays when i click it. where would i find it?!
It will be in the iTunes media folder location shown in iTunes prefs > Advanced.
Select the song, right click > Show file in Finder. -
After installing the latest of iTunes the original files for almost 300 songs cannot be found for syncing to my iPod. The files are songs that were bought from iTunes, and copied into iTunes from CDs.
Apparently, security programs like Macafee and Norton view Itunes updates as new programs and block then from access. If you add Itunes to the list of exemptions, it solves the problem.

i subscribed for itunes imatch - it works perfectly on my i-pad and iPhone - however on my macbook - my iTunes can no longer find my songs - i don't know how to make it look to the cloud to play my music - i think it keeps trying to find on the external harddrive where i used to keep my music
Of course iTunes is looking for the music on the external HDD. Enabling iTunes Match does not magically change the location of the iTunes library to the cloud.
To play the music either plug the external HDD back into your computer or create a new, empty library to use for streaming the iTM content. The latter can be accomplished by holding down the Option key when launching iTunes, choosing "create library" then enabling iTunes Match on the new library. DO NOT have iTunes scan your HDD for music. -
I have 180 apps that iTunes can no longer "find". They appear in "my apps" and there is a file location for them. Can old purchases be restored without doing each one individually?

The free trial is all I needed to migrate my iPod Touch library into my main iTunes library. For those that want to use this tool for the same needs there are some things that need to be moved manually, e.g. Apps. But you can do it within the program very easily. Also iBooks/PDFs etc. need to be moved manually. The help section will point you in the right direction.
No more switching iTunes libraries for me. -

Original files for EPUB examples
Would anyone know if Apple makes available the original files for the 2 EPUB examples they posted on the page "Deliver your content" in iTunes connect? These are the ones called iBooks Store EPUB Example 3.0 and iBooks Store Fixed Layout EPUB Example 3.2
